I went there the three of us for pizza and an appetizer of calamari that was supposed to be GRILLED but was served batter fried!! This owner thinks his customers are STUPID!! I ordered the large round pie and specifically asked for EXTRA MOZZARELLA and EXTRA SAUCE that I would pay additional for! The pizza was served their lousy cheap way and no EXTRA anything was on it!!! I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!! Just another RUN OF THE MILL PIZZA place that CANNOT MAKE A DECENT PIE!!! Here's a few things that bothered me to night at dinner. To start with no plates when we were served bread s with dipping sauce , where do we put the bread between bites??? Then when we got the check we were charged 4.00 for two bottles of water , we never got bottles of water for all we know it could have been tap water. The Alfredo fettuccine had a strange taste to it, I would never order it here. the pizza uh ok not great . The bill included a service charge but did not say for what, when asked we were told it was a company charge. nope not gonna pay it, Paid cash instead. I'm not going back arrivederci . read more

Zero stars! Left their online ordering open but restaurant closed. I received a text and email confirmation of my order and my card was charged $101! They weren't open. Two hours later and a trip to the restaurant to see they aren't open. I called restaurant next day and never got a call back. I was told dispute it myself they won't refund my money. New ownership of 8 months ago has brought better food & good service! Fresh hot bread with a tasty dipping oil is served but don't fill up on that - plenty of good things on the menu to order! Hot antipasto was good with stuffed clams, stuffed mushrooms, mussels, & shrimp. Good size for 2 people; not enough for 4 people. Entree's come with choice of salad or soup. Salads had lots of goodies in them & a nice blend of lettuces. Shrimp scampi had a light & delicious sauce & the shrimp came butterflied - excellent! My dining partners tried the veal special - they enjoyed but it was a little small for my husband. Terrific Italian food! I had 2 slices of the Margherita pizza for lunch which were excellent. I took home an Italian hoagie with cilantro aoli and Kalamata olives, antipasto for 2, and eggplant rollatini with angel hair pasta and marinara sauce. Everything was delicious. Every time my family and or significant other order from here the food is always amazing. Though, Every time we get the food delivered, it always comes an hour past its ETA. It's extremely frustrating especially when you are charged a delivery fee and the food doesn't show up when it's suppose to. There are some good entrees on the menu but the food is inconsistent. I've had Chicken Francese in the past that is very good and I've had some like tonight which was flavorless. Another unfortunate aspect is that when ordering online there seems to be items that they don't actually have which leads to food that you don't order. i ordered the penne vodka with chicken and it's the best I have had in a long time in Hackettstown. I asked how much it will cost as I was paying cash and he said $13.95 plus a couple of bucks for delivery. When it finally came about an hour or so later the bill was $25.42. I called because of not only the price but a $1.00 transaction fee for what? I was paying cash!!! The delivery guy was great but he couldn't explain it. I spoke to "Alex" the manager and he said I was quoted wrong, no kidding! The person who took the order (I think it was Alex) didn't ask what dressing I wanted and they got that wrong too.I told him I loved the food but since this was the first time I used them it wasn't a good impression but I will give them another chance, so I did. They told me delivery in 45 minutes, an hour and half later I was still waiting for the delivery. I asked him how much it would be, interesting it was $25.42. He told me Alex was busy. This guy got the order right but when it came it was $30.75. This time another transaction fee for a 1.11 and $5.00 for deliry on both days. It looked like a new place and the first order I thought, ok maybe growing pains. when I finally got the 2nd order it was great BUT the bread was so hard I couldn't eat it. I am really disappointed because of the service and the blasting music on the phone when they have great food and they don't get it!!! A real shame but I will stick to Main St. I didn't have the energy to call "Alex" again after getting ripped off again, too bad because I wanted to take my brother in law there for dinner IF the second order was right!!! First time trying this place, first impression, it reminded me of a dirty club. Loud dance music was playing over and over on repeat. Not a playlist you think of with taste of Italy as the name of the restaurant. The tables were dirty, and one table next to us had a dirty plate and cup. As for the food, the place wasn't very busy. 5 tables, including us. We waited 1 hour for two personal pies that weren't even hot when they finally came out. Our sodas were flat, and 1 was expired. The waitress was great and went to bat for us and mentioned she had been asking the kitchen to make our pizzas a while ago. The boss said he would comp the 1 expired soda, but not the $12 sour sauce Margherita that was lukewarm because he said the pizza was fine. When we were leaving, we saw the boss, who didn't even come to our table to apologize talking to the waitress in the back. Not a way to run a business. It was our first time here, and we will never be back, and we will be spreading the word to avoid this place at all costs. read more

Yesterday, my wife and I took our grandchildren to the taste of Italy restaurant first thing I have to say is the food was amazing. Their pizza was fabulous. The calamari was perfect. Definitely will go back for the food but what I really need to say is about an employee by the name of J.ay with all the confusion with the kids, my wife left her purse there didn't even realize it was missing until this morning when we got a knock on the door Jay went out of his way to bring the purse to our house. Where is he got it just as well. Left it on a shelf and waited for us. To figure out where it was. I am just so amazed. It's very sad that I have to give a negative review for this place. In general I've really enjoyed the food here, but unfortunately over the last couple years we've had error, after error, related to the take out orders we've placed. Today, after a lengthy conversation regarding getting an eggplant parm sub sandwich with onion ring's instead of French fries, we got French fries at an increased cost. Our last two takeout orders included the wrong pizza toppings where, after insisting on a replacement for the last one, they took over an hour to get us a replacement. I don't understand why this has been happening on a regular basis lately. In general the food is good, but why they can't seem to fulfill an order correctly baffles me. We've been going here since they opened, but this trend lately may be the last straw. I'm so very disappointed that they continue to tell us they will address the issue and give us a credit for next time, but nothing improves. We've never experienced this problem when we eat in the restaurant, only with takeout. read more

I ordered lunch from their dietetic menu yesterday and decided on vegetable meatballs. First of all, they were cut like squares and not eatable. A dog would not eat those. The entire dish had no flavor or sauce. I couldn't eat it so I decided to get a hot antipasto. That was mostly breadcrumbs on top of tiny clams and mussels. The taste was off but I ate it. Do you know they charged me 1/2 for the "meatballs"? I barely ate any of it. I'm Italian and this place isn't run by Italians I will bet on it. I will never go back. Wow, wtf happened to this place? Have eaten here a few times over the years and recall it was good, but had a bad experience tonight. I should have known something was up when the A/C wasn't working, but we were in need of a quick sit down meal. The server was very nice and a little busy at first, but not enough to be frantic. She wasn't keeping up with refills (had to ask, not too big of a deal) and the food took WAY TOO LONG. Our app was plain old calamari, which took about 30 minutes to receive, then had to remind about salads/soup. Then we waited....and waited for the entrees. There is no internet in the place so I had to go outside to check my phone (expecting important texts). Finally gave up after being in the place for an hour and a half and asked for entrees to go. I receive the check and the prices were higher than what was on menu. They have a disclaimer on the menu in bold red print (look for it, it's clearly there, though I didn't bother to read it) that states due to Covid prices may be actually higher than printed on menu. Would have been nice if the server made it idiot proof for me and told me. Whatever, the food was good when I got home, saving them from a one star review. read more
