We've been wanting to try out Czig Meister for a long time and we finally made it there recently. It was worth the wait - or really, we missed on not going sooner! My reviews usually come from a family perspective and this place was great! We were a little worried with it being cold and the garden not open whether the kids would be welcome inside, but the staff and other patrons couldn't have been nicer! There was also a good selection of quick snacks that kept the kids happy while Mom and Dad tried some flights. Which brings me to the beer. A wide selection was available. I find some breweries we struggle to fill out the flights with things we want to try - here it was a struggle not to get a second to try more! Lots of great options for my wife too, who prefers some options like sours and hard seltzers. We ended up buying some to bring home as well. I love Czig Meister! Great craft brews and an awesome tasting room to visit! There are always a wide variety of selections to choose from woth seasonal rotations in their "Deep Sea" New England IPA Series as well as their unique "Sundial" Series of Sours. Specifically I come back for their Sundial Series: Civil Dawn which is probably my favorite beer of all time; Key Lime Sour with Vanilla Lactose and Cinnamon! The outdoor biergarten is very large and gets busy in the summer months and on warm weekend nights. It's BYOF (bring your own food). My sister just moved to the area, and I was excited to see what the town offered. I know I wanted to see the local beer scene and these guys were open during the holidays so I decided to step in. Staff was super friendly and answered any questions I had about their long beer list. I went on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty mellow but I can imagine it packs up at night time, especially during their events. The space is huge! The best brewery in Hackettstown. They have a huge selection of craft beers to choose from. If you can't single it down to one, order a tasting flight and experience four. The staff is always friendly and the beer is always delicious. We came here on a Thursday night and grabbed a table. Weekends get extremely busy along with any of the events they host. I grabbed a few pints of the prospector which is a red ale. It was just what I needed after a long day. There are plenty of restaurants near by that deliver or are walkable as the brewery is unable to serve food. The tasting room is huge and clean. In the spring and summer, I love to sit outside in the Biergarten with my wife while enjoying our favorite drinks. They don't have a private parking lot but there is plenty of street parking. Lactose is a key beer maker here in some tasty sours and "milkshakes." I had the anomaly milkshake and was so impressed had to do a tasting of the other milkshakes and IPA sours. The sours were not too sour. The use of fruits, vanilla, cinnamon and even cocoa nibs, showed inspiration, experimentation, and boldness. I really like everything from the blueberry to the cherry to the peachy-apricot. The brewery has a big space and is open till 8 on Sundays! One of our days to hike and then seek out a craft brewery. Many families and friend groups were there. They even have hatchet throwing! Hackettstown has a lot of eateries. The brewery has many menus and the restaurants were delivering. Of course there were dogs. They even have a black top Biergarten outside. Wasn't being used yet in the low 40s. Many beers options to go. They refill growlers. Somewhat loud and noisy. Beer Weekend stop #5 and final was the only one where I even thought to take a photo of my drinks! This was by far the most crowded stop of the weekend, with it being a nice enough day out to draw a crowd to Hackensack. They have a large outdoor area and the entire place is dog-friendly, so all the dogs and owners come here to socialize and bark (in some order). I know my one friend appreciated this! I... dealt with it. Still need to find the brewery that has cats inside. Onto the best part. Since I took a photo, I know everything I had! The blacksmith chocolate stout was not super-chocolatey nor super-stouty but it was a very nice darker pour. They advertise it as "easy drinking" and I think that's accurate. The tiramisu milk porter I thought fell flat (pun not really intended) on nitro. Nitro makes it smooth but a porter should have a little more roughness to it. It ended up lacking in flavor profile and was probably the weakest of the four I sampled, but I could see it going better on a regular tap. All of us had the prospector, a fine amber ale with a good flavor profile that will appear to light and dark beer lovers. Finally, just because, I went for the unholy ritual quadrupel, because how often do you see a quad? This was a fantastic beer and one that I could see myself having entirely too much of, so I ultimately decided that I would probably end up dying if I went through an entire growler. I highly recommend it to the beer snobs reading this. Overall, a nice way to close out the weekend series, especially for caninophiles. read more

Brilliant place, Czig Meister. The number and variety of beers + the decent prices + the cozy drinking space + the neat setup in an old garage makes Czig Meister a winner. Recently visited from Kentucky over the Christmas holiday, and my girlfriend is local to the area, and Czig Meister was the best place I went. I really can't say enough good things. Felt comfortable with the space and the way the host explain the safety procedures. Now the beer was Execent. Nice selection as well. No food but you can bring your own. Service could have been a little more friendlier. The tattoo fellow, maybe a manger, could have have explain some of my questions better. Almost acted bothered and the place was not busy. RUDE! Unpleasant experience! Went in and purchased 2-'4 packs'. Easy. We asked for our Grains & Grapes Trail stamps. As this was our last stop as we completed our trail, I said "You're our last stop.". Instead of politely asking me to come back because they were very busy, I was yelled at and the server said "No way! There's just no way.! ". He said it 3 or 4 times. I was so taken back by his agitation, I said "No problem, we'll come back another time"... Trying to calm him down. Relax Buddy. He then said you'll need to go somewhere else for your Grains & Grapes sweatshirt. Whatever.... I'm not asking for a handout. I am seeking the prize for the promotion your company featured. Also, don't bother doing the Grains & Grapes Trail. I am a supporter of local businesses and local agriculture, honoring the preservation of New Jersey's and Warren County's farmlands. However, this gimmick of the Trails isn't worth the trouble. We have participated in the trails twice now and both times we had to work to get the prize promised (a customized sweatshirt). Been to Czig Meister several times in the past to meet up with friends and it's always a great environment with marvelous beer options. As soon as you walk in, the vibe is very easygoing and friendly, with a variety of seating inside and if the weather is good, seating outside as well. Very family & dog-friendly atmosphere with plenty of space and a clean environment, including the restrooms. The team is always courteous and knowledgable, offering great recommendations from its diverse selections. The prices are fair. They don't sell food, but you're permitted to bring your own and they also have a list of area eateries that deliver. There are certainly a fair number of options to eat from and I would recommend pairing your beer choices with the food options. They have a great area in the center of Hackettstown with off-street parking and if the small lot is full there is a bigger lot in the back. You can access the larger lot and there is a walking ramp up to the brewery. It's a fun Local hangout, perfect for weekend gatherings and relaxing with friends. The Czigler family does great work and looking for many years of future business with them. read more

My husband and I love going to Czig! There is always a great selection of beers, flights, and slushees. The staff is always so nice and helpful with recommendations. Parking is great with their lot as long as there isn't an event going on. We love that they welcome dogs because we love to get ours out and about! The only downsides are that it's usually very busy and loud on a weekend (shows how many people love it) and it gets very warm in there in the warmer months so dress accordingly. Pet friendly!!! This was the reason for choosing this brewery as my sister has a pup! Staff was super friendly and attentive. Beer was good, I asked the staff to recommend a sour beer and surprise me & it definitely paid off! Outdoor seating is social distanced and shaded. Perfect spot for an outdoor hangout. The table is limited in terms of time but they do give a half hour warning. We even were permitted to stay past our original time out time as it was crowded yet and plenty of tables were open. HACKETTSTOWN: a few months ago the town approved Czig Meister Brewing Company to allow dogs again, so the first chance we got, we took a trip up there to check it out and show them support! We were so impressed with the space; it's huge and has beautiful brick walls, large windows, and lots of seating! Dogs are allowed inside the tasting room and their outdoor biergraten! You may bring in your own food and there are menus available at the end of the bar. We always like getting a flight at a new place to get a sampling and we loved Chieftains Covenant! Paragon of Light and Unholy Ritual were interesting too! If you live in the area, we are jealous of you because the town is super cute and there are two other breweries: Man Skirt Brewing (right around the corner) and Jersey Girl Brewing Company (about 10 minutes away).
