It's a long overdue post and it's been hard to write this, but I want to say thank you to the Blair Mazzarella team. Their professionalism, services, countless phone calls, late night/early morning emails and understanding our Hindu traditions made my family and I have a comfortable viewing for my dad. They were truly great and James and his team (special thanks to Danielle) really did a lot for us. The funeral home made everything seamless. Since this involved three different states, it could've been problematic. The initial funeral planning was handled on the phone from one state to New York. All I had to do was make a call when the time came and Blair Mazzarella handled everything beautifully they followed my wishes to the letter. The only comfort our family was able to find in the passing of my dear brother was the care which we found in the hands of the Blair Mazzarella Funeral Home, at 723 Coney Island Ave. in Brooklyn, NY. The sensitivity that James Donofrio demonstrated in addressing our unique needs and the ultimate kindness that he displayed in taking on the burial of my late brother, a Holocaust survivor, is worthy of his induction into the Hall of Righteous Among the Nations. Mr. Donofrio committed himself to the herculean task of providing my late brother with a proper and dignified burial. Mr. Donofrio is not of the Jewish faith. Yet, his heart was so great that it provided a righteous end of life to a survivor who was unable to speak for himself at the time of his death. Mr. Donofrio spoke for all those that perished under the Nazi regime and died without a dignified burial. Mr. Donafrio made certain that my brother was buried alongside people of his faith. The serenity and peace of mind which our family has now been blessed with is the direct result of the concern and kindness displayed by Mr. Donofrio, which one could only expect from their own family member. My 99 year old father passed suddenly, and I had to fly in and make the arrangements. With the seemingly hundreds of funeral homes to choose from I didn't have a clue who to use. The nursing home suggested I consider Blair-Mazzararella. I'm very glad they did. They brought calm and order to an already stressful and depressing situation. I dealt with Gus and James, as well as their staff, and every one of them was kind, courteous, caring and very important - trustworthy and transparent. You hear hour stories about how some funeral homes rip you off when you're at your weakest moment, but Gus and James couldn't have been more forthcoming and honest with me through the entire process. They went above and beyond in several areas and were great on follow-up and follow-through. They called as often as they needed to in order to keep me up-to-date on what was happening with the cremation arrangements. They even accommodated my need to have some business stuff FedEx'ed there. Talk about full-service! So, while it's a service you hope to never need, the reality is that we all will at some point. My father died almost 24 years ago, and Blair Mazzarella handled the funeral & services. At the time, they were compassionate and as consoling as they could possibly be. But, now, 24 years later, I found I needed my father's death certificate due to unclaimed property not previously known. Well, today I called and explained my situation & dilemma.
