Came back to Blair's and had to write another review -- this one's for Castanza. There was a small mix-up with my friend's order -- her cheeseburger came out without the fries. Just one of those things. By the time it got sorted, there was a little confusion on the bill. Castanza stepped in, handled it gracefully, Just clear, kind communication and it was done. That's what stood out all night. Watching her with her tables, with the other servers -- just warm, present, and easy. Transparent in a way that builds trust. She leads quietly and you feel it. The food was fantastic across the board -- the trout was amazing, the market salad fresh and delicious, and my friend's cheeseburger, fries, and Pinot Noir hit every note. But honestly? Castanza is why I'm writing this. I just want to celebrate her character -- as a human being, in the workplace. Thank you, Castanza. read more

The servers are so kind and attentive, the aesthetic inside is great, and it's easy to get a res on weekends but theres a reason it's so easy to get a table... 1 out of 3 times the food is just done great and the rest it is flat out gross. We hadn't eaten here in a while because the time before it was awful and last time, is gonna be the last time for a few years after how awful it was again. Came specifically to get the cheese pizza and they didn't put anything other than a thick layer of parm and plain tomato paste on it... A salty, stinky, thick chunky layer of hot parm, over plain acidic tomato paste, sprinkled with MORE fresh parm. Really surprised and taken back by how awful it tasted tbh. Not an ounce of any other cheese so I figured they must have changed the menu because I didn't read the description prior to ordering assuming it was the same as always.... Which as it turns out, it was still supposed to be a the cheese pizza that was with mozzarella as it had always been... My partner ordered the tagliatelle which he's enjoyed before but this time he said it was so bland and tasted like something was missing and bizarrely spicy. The gamble which has been on going for a couple years of potentially getting an awful meal here makes it hard to justify going back. Which is a shame cuz when it's good it's really great! It's very obvious there are either issues with consist stocking of necessary ingredients in the kitchen and they don't want to tell people when they're out of something, completely omitting from dishes or replacing with something else hoping people won't notice or there is someone in that kitchen who is not familiar in the slightest with Italian food. I hope that they eventually get the kitchen sorted and really do wish them the best! read more

The service from the waiters, managers and servers is terrible. The service is the downfall of this place. They act snooty for no reason. Despite 4-5 waiters hanging around the front area in a nearly empty restaurant at opening, no one cared to acknowledge us. They made it seem like we were walking into some bustling restaurant and was annoyed that they had to pull off a small 2 top for us. Food was unfortunately good, I'd give it a 7/10. However it took a really long time for the pasta to come out. As I was eating my meal, I was reading the other yelp comments that described the snooty service. Seems not uncommon here. Keep that in mind before spending your hard earned dollars here. read more

This time, the honey peperoni pizza was tough. The pasta carbonara a little bit sticky and the meatballs lacked seasoning . I also found the house salad to be very average with very few pickles. AWESOME, food, ambiance, service. This was our 1st time visiting this location in the Eagle Rock neighborhood on Colorado Blvd, and it was a wonderful surprise and experience. Duncan out server was super wonderful to work with, and the ambiance both inside and outside was just lovely. The food was exceptional, and as there were a few of us we tried a few different things. Make sure you order a side of the Bread (home backed and super good), the Bruschetta with Burrata was one of the best Bruschetta's we had ever had. We had a hamburger, which was an immediate favorite, gnocchine with Sausage & Kale, was absolutely everyone's favorite, the carbonara and the bolognaise dishes were awesome, and the trout (which was pink) couldn't have been more perfect. Then the desert, a puff pastry with creme/mascarpone and fresh strawberries was THE BEST. The tiramisu was also very good, served in a large bowl, was a bit different from what you usually are served. This was a bit dryer more like a pudding dish, but equally wonderful. read more

Visited this spot for a GNO with 3 of my best girls. We are all local, but had never tried this spot before so we wanted to give it a go. We had made reservations, but I don't think it was absolutely necessary, given the time we went (Pretty Early Dinner). There were less than a handful of parties at the restaurant. Anyways, upon arriving we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, which we decided to try al fresco dining for our date. We were so glad that we did too because little did we know their back patio seating area was absolutely gorgeous! I wish we took more photos inside that area, but unfortunately, me and my friends are NOT good at that. :) BUT AGAIN - it is so cute and quaint. We loved it. The service was a little more than fair. I wish they were a little more attentive given there weren't that many patrons while we dined, but it's alright. It wasn't too bad. The people who did interact with us were kind and we appreciated that aspect of it. Now the food! We started with some bread and butter (didn't upload a pic), which wasn't anything special. And we also ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. Was slightly disappointed because the toasted bread was EXTRA toasty to the point that it was burnt a little too much for us to fully enjoy it. The actual bruschetta part was yummy, but the overpowering taste of char threw it way off, so that's rated a 7/10. We also ordered fries which were also okay, and also rated a 7/10. Our entrees included the meatballs and polenta, the short ribs, the Tonnarelli w/ Pomadoro, as well as the Pepperoni, Jalapeno and hot honey pizza. The meatballs and polenta were good, but not something we really raved about. The Polenta was made really well, but I remember we did comment that the meatballs could be better. We might also have been a little bias as our favorite meatballs are actually made by one of the girls eating with us. This was rated a 7.5/10. Another 7.5/10 rating was the pizza. I currently frequent another pizza spot where I get the exact same order, and this one just didn't hit the same Yummyness level as that spot. I feel like the hot honey could be made better to elevate it's overall taste. The Tonnarelli was also Okay. I want to say it kind of left the same impression as the meatballs, so it was good, but it could have been better. Lastly, me and the girls favorite was the short ribs. Because why wouldn't it be?! It was well cooked and so incredibly tender. The only reason it's ranked a 8.5/10 is just because I have had better, but it definitely was GOOD! This was, without question, the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I have never left a restaurant without eating my meal, but that's exactly what happened at Blair's. They charge for bread and butter, which is perfectly fine, but the bread appeared to be reheated and was burned on the bottom. The "butter" didn't even taste like butter--it seemed more like margarine. The olives we ordered tasted like they came straight from a grocery store jar. The calamari was even worse. It had a strong, foul fishy odor, tasted like it had been pre-cooked and reheated, and had the flavor of old frying oil. We couldn't even swallow the first bite. We ordered the tagliatelle after the server described it as similar to carbonara. Whatever it was, it was completely inedible. We also ordered the Penne Ragu Bolognese, and I honestly have no idea what the chef was thinking. The meat sauce had a strange flavor and texture, and again, it was not something we could eat. To make matters worse, the dish the Bolognese was served in was chipped. I have never been served food in a chipped dish at any restaurant. At that point, we asked for the check and left. Based on the quality and condition of the food--especially the calamari--I would not be surprised if someone got sick eating there. Save your money and spend it at a restaurant that cares about the quality of its food and the experience of its customers. Stopped by for happy hour early dinner! Theres a good selection of entrees and appetizers specially made for happy hour, like cheeseburger (without fries), pizza, various pasta dishes, and appetizers. Everything tasted and looked good, though carb heavy if you're looking out for that. The pizza was a little saucy but the bread crust was great and dipable with the provided ranch. I have always wanted to check out the original Blair's in Silverlake but the one in my neighborhood will do! Came here for some main dishes and happy hour. Honestly, happy hour is a great option if you're looking to catch up with some friends or grab a quick bite if you're in the neighborhood (Or just trying to use your AMEX Resy credit). Happy Hour Portions are the same as the regular menu portions. Calamari was good with the aioli. The Calamari is a mix of small rings and tentacles if you are particular about your calamari. The bread for the Bruschetta was amazing though I feel like it is missing something. I would probably recommend some sort of thick balsamic. The steak was good with the creamed spinach but a little too salty for my liking. I don't know what it is about the cheese pizza but the cheese made it my favorite. Parking is street parking. Stopped by at around 5:30PM--lovely ambience and very friendly service. Chanel was especially sweet and attentive. Food-wise, nothing really stood out to me: *Market salad - Pretty good. Mostly tasted like a regular Caesar with just occasional hints of seasoning. *Bread and salted butter - dry, very seedy bread; butter didn't add much. I didn't like the caraway seeds. *Pea gnocchi - dense gnocchi with light pea flavor and not enough sauce. *Bolognese pasta - something about the flavor didn't sit right with me. There's a unique ingredient that I couldn't put my finger on, but I ended up eating anyway since it was the most savory out of the two past dishes we ordered. Went to Blair's on a Thursday afternoon for their happy hour and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. The restaurant itself the decor is beautiful, dimly lit, giving off romantical vibes. There was actually a lot of groups and couples and families at the restaurant which was nice to see. They also have an outdoor patio, which is really nice and cute as well. A lot of candles nicely decorated. My friend and I got a glass of white wine off of their happy hour menu, which was delicious crisp refreshing and we also got some of their appetizers. We started off with their olives, which were amazing. I love olives, and these olives were super delicious. Very flavorful. We also got the bruschetta which was amazing. I don't like raw tomatoes, and I tried it and I ate it all. It was well seasoned very fresh. The bread was amazing and thick cut of bread that held up the bruschetta well and we also had their garlic fries, which were also delicious. Lastly, my friend and I both got pastas which are homemade every day and it was amazing. Now, when it comes to the service, the waiter that served us was awesome. He was kind he was attentive. If you're looking for outstanding pizza, look no further. The crust on their pizza is phenomenal. The best pizza in the area in my opinion. The Fried Calamari is a Crispy Perfection. For an appetizer, the Fried Calamari was a must try, and it did not disappoint. It was incredibly fresh and perfectly crispy without being greasy. It was an excellent start to the meal. We were happy to see this locations as we used to frequent the silver lake location. The first few times were good, but then we showed up one night at opening as a walk in and were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't but as the place was empty assumed it would t be a problem. The waiter at the counter sort of scoffed at us which was strange but we really thought nothing of it. Fast forward to the next time we show up when we specifically reserve a table for the patio, but when we show up we are told by the same waiter that we would need to sit inside. Ok. Well 5 minutes in I walk to the bathroom and take a peek outside and realize that it's barely half full in the patio. Not sure what the waiters deal is but we for sure won't be going there anymore. The food is not good enough to have to put up with that. If you're going to go, happy hour is good, barely anyone there and food is cheaper. read more

After 10 minutes of waiting in front of their cash register area (can't really miss us, we were standing right there), I check again with another individual who appears to be more personable to make sure we were checked us in, and was confirmed that we were and will be seated shortly. Another 25 minutes went by with absolutely no updates at all, meanwhile, others without reservation were already seated, I told the clueless guy please forget about our reservation since they are too busy. The guy acted as he could care less. I understand that restaurants are short staffed and patience is often extended, however, it was incredibly rude to not even update your customer with a simple "we will be you shortly." After 40 minutes of standing in front of the cash register, we left. I took a picture of their front outdoor patio as we were waiting, it was empty. Been wanting to go to the Silverlake location but didn't have a reso so we went here. Wasn't a fan of the layout. It's just kinda open. I feel like it has a cafe feel better than restaurant feel. Staff, though friendly, seemed like they were more interested in polishing glasses at the bar that was also the host stand. Could hear their conversation whole meal. Food took a really long time to come out. Nothing on the menu really popped out to me while reading. The pasta I chose, I think it was the gnocchetti with mushrooms, was super yummy! However I think there was anise in the seasonings on the breadcrumbs (I HATE ANISE) and my last bite had a large amount of it -___- BUT, still 5/5. In this post-covid world, where you need to have everything planned and reserved weeks in advance, it feels extra special to stumble upon a great spot with a friend. We were in search of a last minute spot on a Friday night and were seated right away without a reservation. The ambiance was so beautiful, unpretentious, and cozy. We ordered the bruschetta burrata and our server pointed us to a bottle of Mas de Cadenet rose. We shared the hot honey pizza and the guanciale pasta. The food is delicious however the pizza selection on menu is very odd selections, where is the margarita with mozzarella pizza? Jalapeño on pizza, but why? Some classic Italian toppings would be move in pizza, ex arugula, prosciutto. The menu we saw online was different with the menu they gave us on table. One or two pieces of bread with olive oil and vinegar would be nice to provide. They rush you very much, we sat and literally our server came to take our order, I mean slow down people and let us breathe and look through the menu. The prices here do not match the quality of the food/drinks. Same prices and you could be at bestia in dtla. So it's hard to really be okay with subpar pasta and wine. To say you are a wine bar but only offer 4 reds by the glass (and them all being rated quite low) but charging on average $20 per glass is really amazing. This is not a wine bar by any means and should be removed from the category in yelp. They just have wine. I have had 5 of their pasta dishes, and nothing is memorable. Honestly Rao's sauce would be a welcome substitution for most of their red sauces. Their pasta is homemade, but it's hard to understand this if you go to a place like macheronni republic in dtla whose pasta is exceptionable. Same ballpark for prices and have numerous dishes to choose from. So why am I here? The place is cute, and it's convenient. But ultimately that's what you are paying for: convenience. Most likely families in the area who just don't want to deal with driving farther. If you are looking for quality to cost. I would try one of the mentioned restaurants above - you will leave much more satisfied. read more

We had a fabulous meal at Blair's in Eagle Rock. It was our first time and it was so lovely. Channel and Nick were so kind and welcoming. We started with the Bruschetta, burrata and tomato. So delish! I wish I could add black truffles to it! The minestrone soup, meatballs with polenta, yellowfin tuna crudo and gnocchetti with sausage and kale was amazing. Me and my friends came on a Saturday night and it we were seated right away. The server was fast and attentive but my friends didn't feel the friendliness. It was quite relaxing and chic ambiance. We only got pastas here and I got the Radiatore Guancale, which for some reason lacked flavor. Given the price of it, it was so not worth it. I wish I tried more dishes cause it seems like other reviewers liked other dishes. This particular pasta just was not par to other pasta dishes I've tried in other Italian restaurants so far.
