Standouts at The Sycamore were the staff and the overall ambiance. The multiple servers and hosts were so friendly, down-to-earth and approachable. They were also incredibly patient & accommodating with our various requests. This contributed to the wonderful ambiance in the dining room, along with the elegance, the holiday decor and the quiet decibel level. We came for Sunday brunch and the huge dining room was at most filled to 40% capacity, making for a tranquil experience ... all while a wedding party was being prepared in other areas of the club. The meal was served promptly and was beautifully plated. The food was good -- not great. Our group had these dishes: breakfast burrito, biscuit benedict, chicken piccata. We didn't try any cocktails or other beverages. Overall a truly lovely experience. Looking forward to returning. read more

We figured a golf course country club would rise to the occasion for the price to be commensurate with the quality of food and service experience. Unfortunately it fell short on all accounts. SERVICE It was generally slow and considering it not being busy during brunch time and that we were the only party sitting outside, this was disappointing. I came on my birthday and even though ti was brunch they didn't offer any dessert, any candle, any song, nothing. The reservation indicated that it was for my birthday. FOOD They don't have a kids breakfast menu so we ordered à la carte items like eggs, pancakes, and turkey sausage instead. These items were ok. The eggs Benedict I ordered came with potatoes and those potatoes were completely cold. I told our server who came back with a replacement side of potatoes and those tested deflated, dry, and all the signs you'd expect of microwaved potatoes. I ended up eating my cold potatoes, funny enough, because they tasted better. AMBIANCE It was just OK. The pool had kids and it was good for us because that served as entertainment for my kids. The tables outside were a nice quality wood, but they has naturally occurring holes in them. Because of that, a bunch of junk like old crayons and food were inside of those holes. That was not so great and I'd recommend they seal them or get new tables out there. read more

Literally such a hidden gem. We found Sycamore Kitchen while looking for a nice spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary with the kids lol, and it ended up being a really great choice. We made a reservation and were seated at a beautiful outdoor table overlooking the pool, which made the whole experience feel a little extra special. The vibe is upscale but still very relaxed, so it felt comfortable even with kids. Service was also great from start to finish, super attentive without being overbearing. The cocktails were exceptional, honestly one of the highlights of the night. Food-wise, everything tasted good, but the portions and balance on a couple dishes were a bit off. The calamari and seafood plate special had way more fillers than expected. There was very little actual calamari, and a lot of bell peppers and jalapeños. The seafood plate also leaned heavily on potatoes, which took up more than half the dish. Overall, still a great experience for the ambiance, drinks, and service, but I'd love to see a better balance in the dishes next time. We love this place! We stopped in again this past weekend for a pre-dinner cocktail and appetizer. Chayce (pronounced "Chase") waited on us and the service was excellent. Once again, we sat out on the balcony overlooking the pool and surrounding hills. Apart from the children in the pool below, this is a very tranquil spot to imbibe your drinks and food. Complimentary valet parking is usually offered, but tips are appreciated. On this visit, the parking lot was open to self-parking. DRINK & FOOD: Tip, when ordering off the Happy Hour menu, make sure to state that you want the HH drink. We ordered Old Fashioneds and received the Barrel Aged Old Fashioned ($17), which was well made and tasty, but more expensive than the HH version which is only $10. We also ordered our favorite, the Zucchini Fries which come with an amazing housemade ranch dipping sauce. The Chevy Chase country club is private, but The Sycamore (bar/restaurant) is open to the public. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend you do so. read more

Where do we begin: I grew up 5 homes down the street from the Chevy Chase Country club. Wandered the summer evenings reading mystery novels, watching deer, and listening to frogs sing at dusk. Have returned to my home territory like a Costa Rican sea turtle for our wedding here. First things first: lots of dinners here with friends/fam for decision making and get a lay out of the newly renovated grounds and restaurant. The ambiance is modern and bucolic, and elegant. And a grand fireplace, which always feels like home. We've dinned outside on the terrace and inside fireplace adjacent. Both are private and tucked way, which I appreciate. I'm vegetarian and have ordered the bow tie pasta, the lentil soup, Cesar salad, and crème brûlée. They were all fantastic, but less salt on the lentils. I would order them again and prefer to be in the habit of knowing precisely what I want. :) My fiance has ordered the pan-seared salmon, and Brussels sprouts appetizers as well. Both which he found delicious. The price point is comfortable and the service on point. Parking is easy peezy on the grounds, and appreciate the electric car chargers as well guys. I absolutely love the Sycamore! This is the restaurant at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Glendale. The location is gorgeous and surrounded by beautiful lavish landscape. The main dining room is beautiful and elegant, and the terrace oversees the pool. This is a great place to enjoy a nice meal, a few appetizers and some refreshing cocktails. The restaurant is open to the public, so you don't need to be a member of the Country Club to attend. My husband and I like to visit whenever we are in the area. The Sycamore has a great happy hour menu and most cocktails are only $10. We love their Old Fashioned, but there many great options. The fried zucchini and the chicken wings are also great. You can order the wing by the piece at only $1.50 per wing! Chayce was our waiter during our most recent visit. He nice professional and friendly, which made our visit even more special. we also like the bartender Rebecca. She prepares the best drinks! My wife made a reservation Saturday night 8pm for 2pm on Sunday. She inform them of my nut allergy and the staff confirmed our reservation an hour later. I was impressed! We had the calamari and shrimp cocktail to start. We followed that with Cadillac margaritas and Old Fashions. Now for the food: My wife had the " build your own omelet " which she said was really good w/ breakfast potatoes. I had the fried chicken sandwich w/the Calabrian chili oil and garlic/parsley fries. the hostess, server, bartender & kitchen had our drinks and food orders out quickly. Our server checked on us from time to time and allowed us to enjoy the dining experience at this lovely venue. The bartender came by and she ask us how our drinks were (classy). The view on that Sunday were we sat was of the beautiful golf course and the surrounding grounds. It was about 2pm so we had the place to ourselves pretty much. I would say my experience at The Sycamore inside Chevy Chase Country Club was fairly mixed. I will say that the servers are really lovely and helpful. Although sometimes, you have to chase them down as they seem to be responsible for tending bar, the indoor areas, the outdoor patios, and even the poolside bar-- I don't know how they can attend to all of those places at the same time. I loved my Oaxaca Old Fashioned. Refreshing and smoky. The Crispy Brussel Sprout appetizer was also delicious. The Sycamore Kitchen Burger was mediocre (seemed like they used a frozen patty) and the kids' chicken strips and fries were massive but a bit on the salty side. It's possible that I just ordered the wrong dishes or it was an off-day. On the plus side, the view is lovely, and the country club offers free parking. read more

The Sycamore Restaurant has quickly become one of my favorite spots in town! Located at the Chevy Chase Country Club, it feels like a hidden gem, and best of all, you don't need to be a member to enjoy it. The atmosphere is beautiful whether you're seated inside the spacious dining room or outside with a view of the golf course. I went on a Sunday and tried the C4 Breakfast Burrito with a short rib substitute (instead of bacon), hands down the best thing I've had on the menu so far. Absolutely delicious! Our waitress was incredibly friendly and spot-on with her recommendation. Service like that makes the experience even better. This place has become a regular go-to for me and my extended family, and everyone always leaves happy. It's never so crowded that you can't get a table, which makes it even more enjoyable. Friends brought us here for dinner last night. We had reservations but didn't need them. The lovely dining room was decorated for the holidays and a lovely fire was burning in the original stone fireplace. The menu selection is limited but there was something for everyone in our party of six. We ordered a variety of starters and entrees. Chips, salsa and guacamole were good. Tasted like the chips were fried to order and perfectly salted. The kitchen was happy to accommodate some requests to omit cilantro and pickled onions. The salmon bowl was outstanding as were the short ribs. The only minor criticism is that the glassware which was upside down on the table when we arrived stuck to the table when we turned it over to fill with water from the supplied carafe. Tessa, our server, was lovely in every way. Attentive, efficient, friendly and an absolute pleasure. The views during daylight hours are probably lovely. read more

I have also been here on a weekday for lunch, and it is very quiet and empty most of the time, which makes it a great spot for a casual lunch time catch up with a friend. Parking is pretty ample. What a wonderful spot for dinner. The Sycamore is a restaurant inside of the Glendale Country Club which is open to the public. I went for an early dinner with a friend and sat outside on their patio on top of the pool. We started with cocktails, I had an aperol spritz, such a summer drink. Then we shared calamari which was fantastic. For dinner my friend had the fried chicken which was fantastic and I had the burger. For dessert we had the carrot cake which was fantastic. Earlier in the day we were all dress shopping for me and I called the club to let them know we were going to be late for our reservation. They were so kind about it and even offered to move us to the member patio for this one time since they were setting up for valentines dinner and didn't want us to have a not so great experience with all the distractions. The food is incredibly delicious! We shared the charcuterie board which was priced very reasonably at such a large size. We all had a variety of food options and everyone was satisfied! Most of our dishes were very good, with a pork dip sandwich being incredibly delicious. Drinks were really a disappointment (weak and expensive) and when we go back, I would stick to soft drinks or wine. They don't have an ample wine selection, but it is thoughtful and everyone should be able to find a varietal they like. I did expect the place to be a little more impressive based on reviews, but it felt just like sitting on a balcony over a parking lot in somebody's yard. The Ahi tuna starter (with the wasabi dressing) was absolutely great. My girls got the fish tacos (it was taco Tuesday) and the sliders which was all awesome. The chicken tenders were a little tough but not the chicken it was the bread covering that was a bit overcooked. But still good. The standout for us was the service. The hostess sat us patio seating and all the table were spaced away due to Covid rules and regulations. Aly was our waitress and she was attending 4-5 tables along with the staff. She was very hardworking, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We shared couple of the small plates Brussels sprouts and Harrissa cauliflower, both delicious and lots of flavor. Our lunch was beet salad and cod fish and chips. Everything was absolutely delicious and I loved the cod, not oily at all, light and crispy. We had brunch at The Sycamore. We called the restaurant a few days prior to make reservations. Service was a bit slow in the beginning considering there was only one or two other tables being serviced in the restaurant. We had to flag down our server a few times. We had the bottomless mimosas, the French toast, the hole-in-one, the club pancakes, the cheddar biscuit and breakfast potatoes. The food was great and the portion sizes were pretty big and filling. We dined in The Sycamore dining room located in Glendale's Chevy Chase Country Club on a rainy January 2019 evening. The Sycamore and the adjoining Kikuyu Lounge are open to the general public (not just members) and we fully enjoyed our dinner. Thanks to our server Alyssa for her recommendations from the dinner and happy hour menus. The recently built country club is stunning and a vast improvement over the old facility. The public areas are tastefully furnished and exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere ... the residents of Glendale should be proud to have this complex in our community. The side of Brussels Sprouts was ample and delicious. The Short Ribs were fork tender and a good portion size, served with a great creamy polenta. I was skeptical of the Skirt Steak because that cut could be tough, but ours came out surprisingly tender and flavorful. Both would be mains we'd recommend and would order on our next visit.
