This wine bar is awesome. Such a nice gem of a spot to hangout and have a drink and some food. I got the bonito spritz which was excellent. My friends all got wines and enjoy them along with some of the other cocktails. The French fries that we ordered as a snack was great too. I'd like to come back to try their pizza. The staff (Marie & Ahyoka) were awesome and personable in helping us choose our drinks along with being very helpful in their recommendations for the Loreto restaurant we had reservations for dinner for after. My friend and I walked here after a show at The Elysian for a late dinner. It's tucked in a residential neighborhood but we found it without issue. There was a large party celebrating a birthday outside when we arrived, so we grabbed two open seats at the bar inside. We were quickly provided with menus and started off with a round of drinks and a salad. The salad was delicious and I loved the fried capers much more than I expected. The angry grandma pizza was also good and the peppers gave a nice kick! And we ended the night with espresso martinis and a pizookie, of which my only complaint was I wish the ice cream to cookie ratio was higher. Though it seems like they initially tried to keep their hands clean by limiting most animal products to the frequent pop ups they host, their core menu now includes real meat and dairy and their disclaimer on the bottom feels misleading at best: "Our menu is primarily vegan and vegetarian, with many dishes offering dairy or non-dairy cheese options. From time to time, we may offer limited specials that include animal protein. Please let your server know about any dietary restrictions." Terrible service. My friend and I came for food after the dodger game and the three girls that are currently working seem like they'd rather not work. The workers were 3 girls, one tall blonde, one tall brunette and a short blonde girl. We walked in and nobody said anything. Hi there! I came in this evening and just wanted to say I really love what you're doing, the space is beautiful and the energy is great. I did want to share a small piece of feedback because I genuinely want to see you guys thrive. A couple things during our visit felt a little off. I've been a vegan for 22yrs and I ordered a pizza, my husband had a meat pizza, the pizza felt flat, no depth to the flavors, the sauce was bland and was a single note and the crust had an odd texture. The bottom of my pizza was covered in flour and I couldn't finish it, my husband felt he same way about his pizza. The mushrooms were cut to thick; mushroom is the wettest thing on a pizza, so having them cut thin, lets the water evaporate and has a umami flavor. Cookie was great! I left thinking how amazing the experience could be with just a few tweaks. I'm sharing this with care, not criticism. I'd absolutely come back and would love to see it hit its full potential. Update: they messaged me and said they were short staffed due to Valentine's Day and that their pizza oven was broke. Maybe don't sell pizza if you can make it properly. read more

Eclectic, artsy, hole-in-the-wall bar. Reminds of how Silverlake used to be before it got gentrified. This is a great place for a date when you're tired of the usual spots. But I wouldn't recommend it for your first date because there's really nothing else around so you're kinda stuck here if things are a bit awkward! Hahaha! There are small tables & stools by the entrance, plush banquette seating along the wall & stools at the bar. They also have an outdoor area which I didn't go to but will try next time. It's dark & moody inside but the noise does bounce around with loud music so I found it a bit hard to hear conversation if it wasn't one-on-one. When you order, make sure to ask an employee what is vegan and what isn't, as the menu doesn't do a good job of clarifying that (especially when it was all vegan/vegetarian in the past). I've been big fan of Just What I Kneaded for some time, even before they added eggs/dairy to their menu, and while I understood & accepted that change, this revelation hurts much more. I just hope JWIK doesn't follow in their footsteps, because having a go-to (mostly) vegan restaurant has brought me a lot of joy while living in this city. read more

I've been here a few times; if you are in need of a bar and have the munchies- THIS is a great place. It's also a cool spot to have a few drinks with a few friends (there isn't much space for big groups, but the patio is doable! Our biggest group hang was possibly 8 people?)! Definitely recommend if you're in the area (plus they have a bakery next door that's open earlier) Food menu sometime changes (at this point we may have tried most if not all of the menu), but their food hasn't missed (for us at least). The drinks have always been superb, the bartenders are nice, but they're also chatty with regulars (I assume) so it may take some time to order (depending who's working the bar). Overall always have a great time here! Plus the patio is perfect for summer hangs. Walked a ways here for some dinner- didn't have a chance to eat all day and I've been coming here for a while to support even though every time is a joke. Ordered some lasagna- walked all the way back, opened the box to a pound of sauce poured on top of the lasagna- whatever. Took a bite to realize the completely uncooked dough they tried to cover up. The dough was completely 100% raw there was even still dry flour bits in it. Had to spit it out. Gave my partner a bite without saying anything- they spit it out. This is now like the 5th time they have given me completely raw food- make this the last time and a review to account for it. in shock and awe at this place. I've been wanting to come here for the longest time but the drive always stopped me. I finally made it here an hour before they closed on sunday and immediately fell in love. it's hidden in a tiny neighborhood street and you could easily miss the entrance especially since i went at pitch black - but the door was open and i heard live music coming from inside. it was small and dark inside but incredibly cute. lots of candle light and beautiful art and red velvet couches. We ordered the - morroccon cigarettes (absolutely loaded 10/10) - potato pizza (i forgot the formal name 8/10) - pizzokie (100000/10) I scared the entire pizookie down by myself lol, i think my date got one bite in it was so damn good im still drooling over it. Staff was very very friendly as well, we were bugging the bartender all night with tons of questions and she stayed incredibly sweet. love this place and I can not wait to be back (please never get rid of the pizookie) read more

This cute wine bar has a great night ambiance! There are both outdoor and indoor seating options. I would recommend indoors for the candlelight aesthetic. I appreciate that the music is not too loud. There are street parking options, but there is valet if you need it. Food options are vegan! Tastes great, even for someone who doesn't normally prefer vegan food. There is a diverse selection wine. My group had a fun time trying different types. It is easiest to order drinks and food at the bar, but sometimes staff will come up to your table and ask you. Staff are friendly! The place was super aesthetic and the bathroom was really cool inside. However the food . I would never go here again. Each dish that I had lacked more and more flavor. We got the spicy vodka pasta. Which tasted just like pasta water. Then the spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce tastes like a watery canned tomato sauce. The only thing that had some flavor was the pizza. The crust was nice and fluffy. Then.... The drinks. I ordered the witches brew sour which is advertised as a cocktail and some of the ingredients listed like (aquafaba, activated charcoal, and black glitter) were no where to be found in the drink. We asked the girl and she said it's actually a bottle drink .... I wasn't super bothered by the fact that it was bottled. Had the salt and pepper mushrooms, the fig salad and the Mediterranean cigars...amazing! All were so flavorful and crave worthy. The atmosphere is cool and chill. It's truly great and fun to hang out at if you want to chill at in the evening. Between the bakery, which is amazing, and wine bar, there's not much else you can ask for. As massive fans of Just What I Kneaded, we HAD to try Justine's, and hoo boy were we not disappointed. The ambiance is this incredible 70's sleaze, trashy but not trashy vibe, it's nice and dark - perfect for romance or planning schemes with pals. The food is insane good; the moroccan cigars are better than Crossroads' (if you know you know), and both pasta dishes are making me salivate just thinking about them. The wine is, of course, fantastic. the selection rotates and the servers and very knowledgable and happy to recommend pairings if you're a novice like us. And for dessert, Just What I Kneaded is now open late, so you can just pop over for a pop tart or cinnamon roll!
