Service here truly sucks and the wait was crazy long, but had my first green chile lotaburger (even though I ordered an itsaburger) and have to say it was surprisingly amazing! The hatch chiles they use are really delicious. I didn't get pickles or mustard on it, so Idk if I'm missing out on another experience, but this In-n-Out lover was happy. Probably the best thing to come out of New Mexico... Besides my husband, of course. Gave this location another chance as there was a road block on St Francis and I was in a hurry... needless to say, I was let down, severely. The woman on the phone taking my order seemed annoyed that I was ordering burgers at 10 am. When I got the order back to the office, everyone's burger was dry, over cooked and closer to a jerky burger then anything juicy or delicious. I immediately drove the order back to the location, and requested that they either refund me my money, or remake the burgers. The woman apologized, said she would remake and closed the window. Five minutes later, she informed me that they would not do either as bites had been taken out of the burgers. I explained that is the only way to know if they were dry jerky burgers. She told me they were inspected, found to be fine and that they would not remake or refund my money. I told her that I didn't want them as they touched them, her response?!? How else would we know they were fine! ‍ I included a picture of how they were returned to me... I filed a formal complaint with corporate, as this is NOT the way you treat a customer who is unhappy with the food. This is an OG Lotaburger, as evidenced by the walk-up windows with no interior seating. The outdoor picnic tables do just fine, but there's nothing wrong with getting your order to go and eating in the privacy of your own home (or a public park, even). I get delicious food when I eat here, both for breakfast and lunch. A double Lotaburger with cheese and green chile sets me straight. The chocolate shakes are also worthwhile. The parking lot is spacious but does fill up during peak hours. I recommend calling ahead to avoid the wait. read more

In Santa Fe and was excited to experience Lot a burger for the first time. We checked online and verify that the location would be open until 10 PM. We arrived at 9:05 to place an order for 6 people. They were cleaning the store and told us that they had closed at 9 PM. I asked why and was not given an answer. I then asked for a manager and spoke to Yasenia , Who told me that they had closed early because she had to leave. I said that was unacceptable and that I'm sure the owner would not approve of that. She did not seem to care, was rude, unhelpful and really did not even give me a correct answer. It seemed that she just chose to close early so she could leave. . I rarely write bad reviews but this was unacceptable and really should never happen. I see some haters out there -- In fact, one, riding by on a motorcycle, yelled at me "don't go there, that place sucks!" as I was driving up. But I've been there twice and found it quite solid both times. Reasonably fast and the burgers were perfectly prepared. Is it fancy? No, but for walk-up fast food, very good. If you're a burger lover like me, I'm sure you'll agree, there are three components to a good burger. One, the quality of the ingredients, Two, the ratios of the various components, and Three, the preparation. So, for Lotaburger, first, I found the ingredients very solid. They say they use Angus beef, which of course is a good thing. The lettuce, agreeably hard to screw up, was finely shredded and fresh. The tomatoes were red, and looked and tasted like tomatoes, which is less and less common anymore. The cheese was decent, and the green chilis were clearly fresh and had a perfect and exceptional heat to them. Second, it's clear they have systems in place, and/or people who care, to ensure the ratios are spot on. Know how you get a burger from a fast food joint and the minute you open the foil you're disappointed? With the bun on crooked, and some ingredients falling out one side? Not here. They perfectly stacked the burger, with just the right amount of every ingredient, each of which was evenly dispersed across the burger. Meaning every bite was the perfect bite. Well done Blake's. Third, the burger was perfectly grilled, with that flat top crust but with the right amount of juiciness within. As long as you're OK with divey looking places (and I am) I think you'll enjoy Blake's. read more

My husband and I were visiting from Texas for a wedding. We saw this driving by and thought it would be a great place to eat since it looks like the perfect hole in the wall. We ordered and waited and while we waited several other customers showed up as well. Didn't take too long for us to get our food, about 7 minutes. We ordered two burgers with green chilis and cheese, fries with green chilis and cheese and two milk shakes. We drove to our hotel and excitedly unpacked our food. What a disappointment! The burgers did not taste fresh, they tasted old and like they had been sitting under a heat lamp. I don't think they had been, but they were not good. To top it off they were not the burgers with green chilis and cheese, they were plain burgers. The milkshakes tasted like frozen yogurt... how lazy can you get. Not a good experience. The decor is basic, seating is limited to outdoor tables, and the local clientele can be interesting. However, you get a Lota delicious burger for the money. Stops #2 and #3 of the 10 hour/9 restaurant New Mexico eating extravaganza involved a Green Chili Cheeseburger throwdown between Bert's Burger Bowl and Blake's Lotaburger. I first saw Bert's on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and thought the green chili cheeseburger looked amazing. Upon further research I learned that there is a feud between Bert's and Blake's Lotaburger as to who has the best green chili cheeseburger. I knew I could not leave New Mexico without answering this very important question. Bert's is just as it looked on television. As you enter you see a large autographed poster of Guy Fieri. Look to your right and you will see the owner, dressed just as he was when visited by Guy on DD&D. Bert's is a single store and not part of a chain. The menu has many items in addition to the burgers including New Mexican standards, bison, ostrich, and kobe beef burgers. Brian was especially tickled to see the 1 lb. basket of deep fried chicken gizzards. There is no inside seating, but the outside offers both a covered patio and non shaded tables. I was there on a mission so I ordered the regular green chili cheeseburger and Brian ordered the gizzards. The burger was of average size with cheese, lettuce, mustard, pickles, and a really nice green chili. And for those who care, Brian really loved his pound of breaded, deep fried gizzards. We then made our way down a block and across the street to Blake's Lotaburger. Blake's is a chain of 75 hamburger stands across New Mexico. There is no indoor seating, just some picnic tables in the back of the parking lot, along the hedges, and next to the trash bins. I ordered a green chili cheese burger. There were many people working inside of Blake's vs. two people working at Bert's. Once we got our food we went to sit at a table but were quickly attacked by flies. We ended up taking the food back to the hotel. The only difference in the appearance of the burger was that Blake's includes a tomato and the size of the burger is slightly larger. The throwdown: Berts-Better tasting beef patty. Better tasting green chili. Better seating. Not a chain. price- $3.50 Blake's-Bland, slightly larger patty Green chili not as flavorful. Includes tomato. Terrible seating. Chain. price- $3.79 All else aside, based on taste alone I preferred Bert's Burger Bowl. read more

I like the food here. The problem is with the service at this location. Forget calling in an order, because they never answer the phone. Walk up service is terrible too. Last weekend I went to pick up a breakfast burrito and stood at the window for five minutes in plain view of the staff, who saw me and were apparently too busy to even acknowledge my presence, despite the fact that one of them was standing there drinking coffee. Thankfully, this is not reflective of other Blake's locations. I will not be heading back to this one again, though. What the hell? This was fantastic! We never eat 'fast-food', but I really wanted to try this southwestern chain because of the kitschy signs everywhere in NM. We had one green chile lotaburger each and were totally full. It is delicious. Surprisingly, the tomato and lettuce (and veggies in general) were really fresh! It is probably the spiciest green chile I've had, because I don't think Blake's would ever tone it down for any damned tourist- locals eat here! The meat tasted damn good and the bread was soft, slightly sweet (in a yum way), and fresh. We felt totally sick the next day after eating this, probably because it is bad quality meat and we aren't used to eating a lot of meat. It should probably be fine for most folks though who don't eat almost all organic, pseudo-vegetarian food, which is, almost everyone else in the US. They have some sort of special sauce that I'm sure they put crack in. If I could eat lots of meat, I would definitely be obese from eating here. read more

Terrible service, can't take over the phone orders. Ordered a plain burger with extra cheese & medium regular fries. Both were wrong. I got seasoned fries and a burger with everything on it & then when I went to the window to fix it, they gave a huge attitude, took my food, & closed the window in my face. Also didn't want a drink (didn't order a combo) so we said, no drink & we were told "um yeah a combo comes with a drink" like we were stupid. I'm preeeeetty certain the entire staff was on some kind of drug this evening (8/1). Which is totally okay with me, but I could tell the other customers were getting irritated. I tried to lighten the mood a bit by telling them "hey no worries, it's all been pretty entertaining ... just don't leave for the bong all at once, rotate, puff puff give" These dudes were messing up everything, collectively and individually. I don't know if it was Xanax Fridays! or something, but it was like a comedy show where people have all just met, have no training and are told to run a restaurant for an evening. Blake's Lotaburger is definitely a great place to stop in Santa Fe for quick, greasy food. I love the walk up and order system. It feels classic. I have been a couple of times and have enjoyed the lotaburger with the addition of cheese and bacon. I also ordered onion rings as a side which were cooked to perfection. Maybe a beer batter? Couldn't really tell but they tasted great. Also had a chocolate shake which satisfied my craving for a simple chocolate syrup and ice cream taste. Definitely check this place out! read more

Yet another disappointing fast food restaurant, and I have no idea why I am so far off base to disagree with the current reviews. 1. Roof leaks and dirty water was flowing directly over the ordering window. 2. Food took around 15 minutes to get. 3. Frito Chili Pie was gross and inedible. It was runny and the meat was pureed. Horrible! 4. Staff has a hard time getting the order correct. We repeated three times that we wanted corn dogs. After a 15 minute wait for a burger, frito pie and fries, we find out they forgot the corn dog. Waited another five minutes for that. 5. Asked for a chocolate malt and they just dumped a couple of teaspoons of the powder in the shake - plus rather than put the drink into a large class they gave us two small cups. Won't be coming back. Had a great experience in Albuquerque store, but not this one. I don't understand why even fast food is an issue in Santa Fe, as this is typical. read more

Lifelong resident of Santa Fe weighing in on Guadalupe St. Location. I'm extremely upset with my experience tonight. Top to bottom. Here goes. Only on the fourth attempt to call did someone pick up. I said to my girlfriend and friend" They're probably busy". Got there literally three cars in the parking lot. Next there's a sign in the window cash only. I had planned to pay with a credit card. Maybe mention that on the phone. So fine my girlfriend had cash. Still ok at that point things happen. Walked up to the window,no line. I stated my name,the person I was speaking to seemed confused (high). I stated I placed an order about ten minutes ago.He said "I don't remember you". I told him it was a phone order. That seemed to snap him out of it. He rang me up and took my money. I then saw the grill cook start my order.again there's nobody in line and nobody waiting. Ok maybe they were busy 10 minutes before. Unlikely but maybe I'm a mellow guy and really at this point I was still just looking forward to my favorite green chile cheeseburger. Next I wait as the burgers have just hit the grill. Still Ok. They're finally cooked. Still Ok. I'm now licking my lips. Burgers in the bag, seasoned fries in the bag. We're looking good. This review would not be written at all if they'd just hand me the burges,fries and sodas. NOWAY. I know Lotaburgers. I know how it works. Two windows order at one receive your order at the other one. Not tonight. This kid told me to get in line(now it's busy). Waited 10 minutes in line for my food I'd already purchased while it became ice cold. Final treat "oh you had cokes too". I know this is not how you do business,or if it is I'm out. The young man at the window was also on a personal phone call. the entire time,yet can't answer the business phone. I wanted to love this hole-in-the-wall burger stand with walk-up window service. It has history. And for some reason people speak fondly of it. I knew I was in for a disappointment when I ordered a lota burger with green chile and saw the fry cook throw a thin, hard, frozen patty on the grill. The burger was dry and disappointing. The onion rings were okay. It wouldn't take a lot of effort for this place to do much, much better. I don't recommend Blake's, unless you're desperate. read more

I've heard a lot about Blake's but it took a couple of months to finally try it out. The biggest deterrent for me was that you had to order outside then wait 10 min for your order. However, I do like that because you then know it's fresh! They have burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, breakfast burritos, etc. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich meal w/fries + drink. My fiance ordered the burger meal. We went on a late Sat afternoon so there were 2-3 cars and no line to order. It was super windy so we waited in the car until our order was called on the speakerphone. I think we waited about 7 minutes. I really liked the grilled chicken because it was juicy and tasty. The fries were crispy and yummy. It's a stand-alone fast food restaurant so there's a lot to park the car and you have to be outside to order. I always see people waiting for their food so I know it's popular. I would recommend this place for a higher quality fast food chain! read more

Best breakfast burritos of all time. We live in Texas. I come to New Mexico just for Blake's breakfast burritos.

So the only reason I don't give this location a 5 star is due to the poor customer service of some of the morning staff. On several occasions I've called to place a breakfast order and they either don't answer then phone and continue to let it ring, or pick up the phone and act like they can't hear and hang up. Then when you get to the store they do not open the sliding window and say "we'll be with your shortly" or anything. They just leave you standing there til they are done dojng whatever they are doing. The morning manager Lyle is extremely rude and sometimes comes off as even violent. I would not recommend this location. I now choose to go to other places for breakfast. read more

Good food, usually cooked right. But the ordering system on the phone is a mess, and you cannot reach a human to correct an order. I mostly order online for pick up or through a delivery service. Every single time I order something is wrong, usually my daughter's breakfast is always incorrect. I always select no chile and cheese for her and I always get chile and cheese. This morning I picked up another mistakenly made sandwich. The employees either don't read or don't care. The receipt was printed carefully, so I think it's they don't care. They tossed the incorrect sandwich in the trash and offered me a refund. The employee seemed upset when I asked to have another sandwich made for her without cheese and chile, but they acted like it was such an inconvenience to make another sandwich. If they had done it right they wouldn't be wasting food and throwing away money, right? They are also horribly rude and it's been like this for a long time. If my husband wants to get on my good side, he'll sneak off in the morning (while I'm still snoozin' , of course) to Blake's, place an order for a breakfast burrito (green, bacon), then scoot over to Starbuck's (triple grande skinny vanilla latte), and by the time he has latte in hand, his order is just coming up at the window at Blake's. When he walks into the bedroom with a latte in one hand and 1/2 burrito in the other, and a smile on his face, trust me----he's my boy, and life is good. The breakfast burritos are stupid cheap and 1 is enough for two people. The lattes at Starbuck's are way more expensive than the burrito. Not really a burger girl, so it's kinda weird I"m reviewing a burger joint, but Blake's has a special place in my heart. And my tummy. And my hubby is SO happy they're close to us AND to Starbuck's.
