It's closed. It struggled to have good food consistently. The drinks were good. Apps were ok.

Pulled pork was room temperature when served to me, and it was 14$. After that, all of the food seemed very unappetizing. Honestly, it felt like they just microwaved all of their food. I also ordered a spinach artichoke dip. The chips were stale and the bread was too crunchy. I didn't taste the artichoke or spinach, it just tasted like runny cheese. There were flies around the restraunt as well. This was the first time I have ever walked away from somewhere not eating my dish because I felt sick after taking a few bites, and I'm almost 30. I regret spending 50$ here. My family went to Buccilli's Pizza instead and I highly recommend them. The stark contrast from dead silent diner with molded walls and overpriced bland food to a lively well kept and clean restaurant with award winning pizza was refreshing. Don't fall for the pictures and view of the lake- this place is gross and they do not care about the food they're serving. They just want your money. read more

OMG, finally found the worst ribs in Michigan. Blake's of Houghton Lake. It's almost like they were pre cooked, portioned then frozen. Way over cooked. Boiled, then fried. The bones were mush. Grilled Texas toast oil was rancid. Asked for chef, dinner hour and he's not there. Canned beans and bland store bought potato salad and slaw. Seems other reviews have not had ribs, if so they have no palette or taste buds. Waitress would not even smell my Texas toast. Offered us two rib dinners to take home. Lol, why?? read more

Located right off Lake Houghton, some of the best barbecue I've ever had! I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich (pictured) and my husband had the Brisket Special. We also have 4 kids that each had a kids meal served with ice cream. Would rate the food 5/5, service 5/5, ability to locate/ directions/ signs 3/5, pricing 3/5. The location is nice and the servers were very friendly and attentive however the food was very bland and definitely reheated. The pork and chicken breast both tasted like they had been cooked prior, frozen and then reheated again. It tasted like microwaved meat. The fries tasted like they were fried in old oil. This was the worst BBQ I've ever had. The ribs were not smoked or even grilled. They were severely overcooked in the oven and not seasoned. And all the sides were definitely plopped on my plate out of a GFS tub, and the frozen grocery store Texas Toast was somehow the best thing on my $18 plate. read more

The service and food were both good but was very disappointed to find charges to my credit card a day or two later that were not mine. I mostly pay cash but we had a big group. at Blakes you hand your card to the server and it is taken away to another area then brought back to your table to sign. Easy access to commit fraud. I had only used my card that one time over the previous week so know the charges had to have come from someone there. When I called to speak with the manager, the server we used identified herself as manager. That got me no results so Im here to caution you, pay cash if you eat here but honestly there are other places that are just as good if not better. read more

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a longer wait time. The food is great and the restaurant as a whole is underrated. Plus, their mistake was recovered with good customer service one of the last times we went there. read more

Pretty good food! Really cool environment. BBQ mac and cheese appetizer was amazing! I had it as my entree.

We visited in September of 2018. I ordered pulled pork Nachos. I asked how large a serving it was such that we could gauge what else to order. Chris Kolo, the general manager, server and cook that day advised us we should order another full entree. We did, the Polish Sausage grilled bun with coleslaw. When our order arrived the Nacho plate was large enough to serve nearly 3 people. It was also very poor as the cheese was the type one finds in a convenience store that pumps from a nozzle. The sandwich wasn't any better. The stacked coleslaw had no flavor and added nothing to compliment or enhance the Polish Sausage burger it was on. On the bright side Chris is friendly, engages with her customers and appears to be working very hard to make a go of this place. I think she cares very much about serving good food. I hope they are able to turn this around. read more
