I really liked that they had outlets available and guest WiFi, which made it easy to sit and work comfortably for a while. Their matcha selection was also really good with a lot of options to choose from. The only downside is that parking can be pretty difficult, and it definitely gets crowded depending on the time you go. Thankfully, we got there at a good time and were able to grab seating, but later on it got so busy that people were standing around waiting for tables. My interpretation: a venture capital owned chain masquerading as a local trendy hip coffee shop by latching onto the latest "it" coffee item like matcha. I mean it's not bad but it's also not great, especially when looking at their actual coffee (which tastes like any standard large chain's burnt beans) and not just their various flavorings which I'll grant them are decent, though I feel their "uniqueness" is very much overplayed. Sure, their pistachio syrup is a tad better than others but even that is marginal. And end of the day, it's a coffee shop, the coffee should shine. Supposedly their matcha is good but even that, just barely. It's even more pronounced when you realize there are plentiful fantastic local options, many of which who source and roast their own beans. Prices were fair which was nice, service was friendly and efficient. Super convenient location near all the hotels on the block. They offer a wide variety of flavors to pair with their matcha, which makes it stand out. I tried the lemon curd matcha as a big lemon fan and it was a bit shocking at first, but after mixing it well, it really grew on me. Such a unique and creative flavor combo. Let me start with I don't like matcha. I was just exploring Georgetown and needed a coffee. The line was out the door, but the reviews were good enough. I waited and boy was it worth it! I absolutely love blank street. Honestly made a day trip to DC because I was craving their matcha. They always have the best specialty / seasonal flavors. I ordered the banana bread matcha with oat milk because I had heard good things and it was delicious! I'm not a chugger usually but this matcha was gone in a blink. The line was not super long when I went and the cashier was friendly and fast with taking my order. The matcha is on the sweeter side, so if you like that it's perfect for you. One thing though is the more I drank the matcha, the less flavor it had - which may be attributed to the ice melting or my taste buds just getting used to the flavor haha. Still good though! Seating inside is limited but there were some people studying and chatting. It is a little cramped and loud so I wouldn't recommend studying here but a coffee hangout would be cute here! read more

I come here with my coworkers about once a week since it's a short walk from our office. Blank Street's matcha is the perfect afternoon treat to get me through the afternoon. I enjoy trying their new seasonal flavors, but me and my friends' go-to is the strawberry shortcake matcha. It is divine! I will say that sometimes the drinks are hit or miss based on who's working that day--we can usually tell when someone is new. Drinks are on the pricier side but I look forward to getting them so much that the price doesn't matter to me. I am a huge matcha snob and ever since I've started to make my own matcha from home, I'm extremely picky when it comes to ordering matcha. I've heard blank street was the best matcha in the DMV, and so I went to go try it! Unfortunately, I was super disappointed. If this is how matcha tastes in the DMV I am speechless. The matcha itself is batched (which is fine if taken care of properly... meaning that it should be sitting in a bucket of ice). Same with all the other milks that were sitting on the counter. I understand if you go through milk quickly, but it was a but off putting seeing both the matcha and milk just resting on the counter even when it was slow when I went. The flavor of drinks were so overwhelming with artificial taste. I got the banana matcha and a carrot cake matcha. All I could taste was artificial vanilla and cinnamon. There was no matcha flavor at all. They also didn't have a matcha latte option that wasn't over glorified with artificial flavors! I wish that there was just a regular matcha latte I could have enjoyed where I was able to taste the matcha and wasn't a vanilla milk sugary drink. When you order it is also defaulted at 100% sweeteness which is ridiculously sweet. Should have option to adjust or they should ask if that's okay. read more

Rhianna was playing, convos flowing and the smell of coffee made this place catch my interest as soon as I walked in. Listen-the Daydream Latte is the way to go! It is absolutely delicious. I stopped by last week in the afternoon to do some work at a cafe. Initially, I wasn't sure if there would be a lot of space since it's on/close to GW campus, but it turned out to not be an issue in the summer. The interior, in general, was pretty minimal with a few small tables, one large communal table and some sofa seating. Great location for catching up with friends and plenty of space to do work. My favorite is the strawberry shortcake, but make sure to mix it up consistently as the syrup tends to clump together. I ordered the Iced Daydream Matcha, which is honey and cinnamon syrup with oat milk and Ceremonial Matcha over ice. I loved this drink! The syrup and oat milk gave the drink a cereal milk type of flavor which paired well with the bitterness of the matcha.
