Visiting DC for the weekend, found this spot on yelp! So many delicious baked goods and coffee options! The pistachio latte was creamy, slightly sweet with small pieces of pistachio in each sip! Delicious! The pistachio croissant was a nice addition if you just can't get enough of pistachio! :-) The cinnamon roll was crispy with a soft center, slightly sweet with the spice of cinnamon. This place has a great vibe for outdoor eating and wonderful engaging staff. I had bacon and egg crossiant sandwich which was pretty good. Nothing to really write home about to be honest. And honestly that's where the super positive ends. The baked goods are gorgeous! They look super tasty, but the reality is they are pretty terrible. They lack in flavor and are pretty pricey to not taste good. The cherry danish was meh at best and honestly the only thing that helped was the danish filling. The cinnamon roll just had the most absurd amount of nuts that fall out every where of this dry dry dry pastry. Finally the croissants taste like no butter was used in the baking process and they're quite hard. Finally, the worst blow of it all was how horrible the cold brew was. I drink my coffee black, so this was not a they added too much/little creamer sugar situation. Its just bad coffee. I also had a chai tea, which something was off about it as well. The flavor was too bitter. Stumbled across this place because it was not far from my hotel and I'm so happy I found it! Really cute cafe, beautiful space, and lots of seating. A great spot for just coffee and a pastry (all of which looked delicious, but I didn't have any on this visit - good reason to come back!) but also for a full meal. I had the traditional shakshuka, which is one of my favorite meals. I consider myself a bit of a "shakshuka connoisseur" and this one did not disappoint. First, the presentation was perfect. Served in a big skillet on a wooden board, topped with parsley, and with three really large slices of a fluffy toasted bread. Absolutely gorgeous. Taste-wise it was perfect. The little bit of cheese was a great twist to my usual shakshukas, and the rest was cooked perfectly, with the eggs properly done IMO. I also had a latte, which was clearly of made from top-notch coffee with a great flower decoration in the foam. The service was quick and friendly, with the cashier even making good conversation that felt organic and not forced at all. Would absolutely return to this wonderful restaurant next time I'm in the area. Update: managed to come back one more time before I left time. This time I got the egg & hole. Another great meal. I used to think that a really good looking pastry meant it would be really yummy but after many visits to pastry shops I am reminded that although the eyes are drawn to what looks beautiful, it's all in the taste. I was disappointed because the pastries I got were stale. The Jerusalem Bagel was stale as well as the Morning Bun. Both were cold when I got it. An immediate sign to me especially when I am there around 7:10am. There was not the crispness that a laminated croissant dough would have. The Jerusalem bagel's texture felt a little too whipped along with staleness. I know times are tough all over but day's old baked goods should be sold at half price and noted. I paid full price and refused to go back to any other branch and try some more. Place is clean, modern and high end. read more

I think I enjoyed the sausage sandwich more, as the short rib grilled cheese was just alright. I think the sausage breakfast sandwich hit the price point better and it was just simpler. Inside, Tatte is super pretty a good amount of seating. Coffees were tasty and I enjoyed my latte. It's sort of clean up after yourself type of place. I have found myself realizing that DC is just more of coffee and bakery type of place as far as fast food scenes. Overall, Tatte is good. I am not sure what all of the hype is about. Considering they had a line out the door every day, my husband and I tried them for breakfast. After waiting a significant amount of time, the breakfast platter was disgusting. The eggs were cold, the "sausage" had so much seasoning in it that it wasn't even edible in my opinion. On a frigid evening, we happened upon this City Center location. I've noticed Tatte's popping up in the City & National Landing and I couldn't be more happy. We ordered, then found seats & ensured the number was visible. This place has so much to offer!! I enjoyed having the opportunity to observe the baristas flex their artistic chops within the Coffee Bar. The modern open floor plan & soft white lighting are perfect for working or relaxing with friends. Additionally, the bakery displays small flaky pieces of heaven. The seasonal comfort food and healthy salads prepared in their scratch kitchen deserve more than an honorable mention too. This is my type of place. First time having breakfast inside the restaurant without takeout. On a weekday per usual a long line at this location near all the offices and city center. Food was good but then again you really can't go wrong with eggs, bacon and hash brown. Really enjoyed the hash brown, having extra flavors. Also had a cappuccino that hit the spot in the morning. Tatte is one of those places that you walk into and you "ooh" and "ahh" and then it's time to order and you have no idea what you want because it all looks so good! We actually went 2 days in a row because of this. The line is long during rush morning hours but it moves fast. The staff is kind and knows their stuff. Day 1: Chai latte. Delish. Vanilla lime krembo which was like a curd topped with fluffy meringue and then dipped it white chocolate which hardened. It was divine! Hot cup of coffee which was just what I needed. Monkey bread was just ok. I should have gone for a croissant, but someone beat me to it and placed an order that took them all. Oh well. Day 2: Water to drink which they have a water station which is helpful. Hot chocolate to drink which was like a hug. Chocolate mousse cake which was delish but WAY too sweet (it's hard to even say that because we love sweets!) House made breakfast plate with two poached eggs, bacon, potato fritter, and toast. Large serving that I couldn't finish. I wish we had time to go back and try the lunch items. There is tons of indoor seating as well which is nice. This is one of my favorite chains. This locations is nice and big, food and coffee are some of my favorites. This place is pretty popular , would usually expect a line especially on the weekends. We were able to find empty seats easily enough but would've been nice if tables were cleaned a little more frequently. They have a wide selection of delicious pastries , fancy teas , fresh juices. It's pretty crowded but nice and big. We had thought we needed to order drinks at the second station and there was a long line, the server was very accommodating and added to our order . It was packed when I went in, which makes sense being downtown and a viral spot? However, the line moved fast and the workers were kind. I think because it was so busy orders got missed, including mine. I was told to wait on the side since my order was to-go and I ended up standing for awhile before a worker asked what I got. My order never went through and the person at the register gasped and said sorry she forgot about me. Other than that, my food and drink were pretty okay, but not where I would come back. Almost a five, but a few key misses. You order at the counter, find a seat and they bring the food to your table. You can't customize a meal (e.g even though there's bacon, you can't order just a side of bacon.) Therefore, I had to order a breakfast that came with bacon just to get bacon for my son. Not a big deal, just calling it out. The workers are all very friendly. Service is fast and nice. The AC was out while we were here. I don't think that's an always thing, they had fans to keep it bearable in July, but it was on the hot side. The good: the ginger date oat milk latte which is seasonable was delicious. I regretted getting it hot after realizing the AC was out, but it was still great. I don't like my drinks that sweet so I would ask for it to be a tad less sweet next time. The just ok: my son loved his bacon, I was meh on my poached eggs and hashed browns. The sourdough bread was good. I just wished I liked my food more. My other son got a $4 chocolate chip cookie. I thought it was ok, but being that he only ate half and I didn't love it I'd try another pastry next time. The decor is beautiful and they have water out and readily available. I'm a sucker for a decadent pastry and after reading reviews, I was convinced I had to make time to go to Tatte Bakery while in D.C. This location is conveniently located in downtown D.C. and we stopped in after a long day of sight seeing. We ordered a pistachio bar and fruit tart but both were okay. They were kind of dry. I also ordered a chai latte but it just tasted like water downed milk. The bakery is very spacious and lively though. There were so many people inside, but the pastries were disappointing. Great location in City Center near the Metro Center and Gallery Place metros. It's proximity to these and downtown make it a convenient meeting place. Tatte is modern and spacious and overlooks the Christmas tree (during holidays), fountains and farmers market. It's got great coffee, tea, and lattes, friendly staff, and a bakery with delicious treats along with a number of snacks and sandwiches. While busy, it has a lot of space for meeting, working, or getting something to eat or drink. I've been there both during the week and weekend and you had a mix of people working, meeting, or stopping in for their favorite pick me up. read more

I've always been a Tatte fan! Stopped by this location because it was the closest to the convention center. The house latte is my go-to everytime but I typically like it cold. It was chilly that day so I opted for a hot drink instead, which interestingly changed the flavor profile. The halva didnt stand out as much in a hot drink and it became more cardamom-forward. It was still tasty nevertheless! I also got to try the seasonal pumpkin latte. I liked the incorporation of pumpkin puree because it gave it a more authentic flavor but the puree would often fall the bottom of the cup. The espresso and milk part was good and consistent with other lattes I've had at Tatte. For food, the cheese boureka is my go-to but it also depends on how they reheat it. On a separate occasion here, I tried their seasonal shakshouka with mushrooms and bacon. The potato cream sauce was delicious and loved how the bacon flavors were incorporated nicely. The shiitake mushrooms, spinach, herbs, and eggs were all well seasoned and very delicious with their soft and toasted bread slices. All the Tatte locations have the same decor and I liked the clean black/white look with wooden/marble furniture and lots of natural light. Staff were polite and spoke different languages. I came by around lunch time on a weekday and it was pretty busy, similar to the other Tatte I've visited. I liked the ample natural lighting from the floor to ceiling windows as well. However, I think the ordering system still has some hiccups. I ordered a latte and when asked "for here or to go?" specified "for here." I was told to get my drink where the baristas were, who told me they would call my name for "for here" orders. 5 minutes... 10 minutes went by and I was still waiting for my drink! It turns out that my name was never called and someone else took the drink. At the other Tatte location, I was given a number to take to a table and the staff brought the drink out, which I think is a much better system. The food to be honest is pretty good but the problem is is that they appropriate it from actual Arab countries and they're not an arab country so it's cultural appropriation without representation and it's wrong because it's misleading. As a Palestinian to come here I was really excited to try the food and I got some of the best things they have to be fair. The food here is decent (though pricey...breakfast for two was an eye-watering $61) but I have to say, whoever runs this place doesn't care about customers. Looking at the menu, they have a lot of delicious breakfast sandwiches. My husband wanted one but rather than having it on one type of bread, he wanted it on a croissant. The kind but confused guy taking the order said they couldn't do that. I asked if they were out of croissants but he said they could only put it on the bread on the menu. I asked if I could order the sandwich without bread, then order a croissant and assemble it myself and he said "I guess so". So Tatte got me to pay an extra $4.50 for a croissant (I would have been happy to pay an upcharge of a dollar or two if that was the issue) and I got to make my sandwich myself. Great business model if you can get people to pay extra to do the work for you! This may be an unpopular opinion but if I'm ordering a sandwich, it should be default that I get an option of what type of bread to put it on. To tell me "they can't do that" when they physically CAN do that is just ridiculous. So we got the sandwich with no bread, got our $4.50 bread and put the sandwich together. Reader, it wasn't hard at all. I don't blame the cashier for this. The computer system is rigid and doesn't allow for choosing bread, which I guess is more efficient. He looked like he wanted to help but whatever management (or lack of) at that location made sure that the cashier is impotent to help a customer. I get it, it's a piece of bread and it's not a big deal, but if I'm paying $61 for a couple of breakfast sandwiches, coffee, water and a piece of cake I don't expect to have to pay more to make it myself. Again, the food was fine (and would have been delicious at $25) but the fact that the focus from management is only on $$$ and not customer experience makes it clear I don't need to go hear again. The first time I went to Tatte great pastries. However today I order a pistachio latte iced.., and what came was a very gritty granulated drink which looked like it had coffee grounds in it. I asked for a replacement and was told that was how the drink was supposed to be by the general manager. After stating that was not appetizing at all and not expected the manager just stated "yeah it's not my favorite". This to me was a poor response verse a potential opportunity to replace said beverage. So with a look of disappointment I left and threw it out wasting money and likely won't go again. read more

Came here on a Monday at 11 am and it was not crowded at all. A lot of people were working on their laptops. We found seating with no problem and ordered and got our food extremely fast. They give you a number after you order and you sit yourself but will bring the food to you. You grab your own utensils, napkins, and water. The shakshuka and tartine were super good and filling! The tiramisu was absolutely rich and delicious. Although the food is good it is still pretty pricey for a cafe. We weren't sure if we are supposed to put away our own dishes or an employee takes care of it so we put it away ourselves. Their bathroom is in the back and was pretty clean. read more
