Blagden Alley street sign (on south end).
Gilbert G.

The La Colombe on Blagden Alley is cozy and quaint with a modern urban vibe. Tucked in a pedestrian-only alley, it's an ideal place for a caffeine break for attendees at the nearby Convention Center. It has lots of pluses. First, the drip coffee here was excellent and smooth. Second, the service was friendly and prompt on a Sunday afternoon. Due to the limited space, however, you may need to "grab-n-go".

Solid matcha option! Walked here on a Sunday morning and although the shop was busy, we didn't wait in line to order and received our drinks in only a few minutes. We took our drinks to go, but it didn't look like there was a lot of open seating inside. Matcha itself was solid, but nothing exceptional. I would definitely order it again!

Fast, friendly and knowledgeable service especially in the morning when I need my Java fix . I will be a regular.

Unique coffee experience! Small coffee house vibes inside. Wasn't sure what to order so the baristas offered some tastings of the lattes on tap! It was incredible and helpful in guiding our order. Ended up with a plain latte and a London fog. That latte was standard but fun to try the fresh version of what they can. The early grey took me back to my favorite college coffee shop. It was pure nostalgia for me and loved every sip. Husband wished it was a warmer day because he would have gotten one of the coffees on tap.

Great place to get a cup of coffee and a pastry. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They have non-coffee drinks as well and their seasonal coffee offerings change regularly. It is also kind of in a hidden alley which adds to the appeal!

Big fan of La Colombe and try to visit shops whenever I travel and a city happens to have one or more. I tried this La Colombe as I was walking around the Blagden Alley area. It's a quaint spot with lots of street art. This La Colombe was lovely! Great decor inside and out, ample seating, and nice staff. I had a draft latte and really enjoyed it. Super fresh and great balance of flavor. A nice variety of options for hot + cold drinks and some pastries.

I love this coffee shop! Friendly baristas, tasty espresso, and overall good vibes. Only negative is that it's packed on weekend mornings, but if you find yourself here on a weekday or after the morning rush, it was not disappoint! I usually get a hot or iced latte, but they currently have a strawberry latte special that I just had to share with fellow yelpers - subtle taste and not too sweet which to me makes for the perfect balance of flavor in my coffee!

Always had La Colombe coffee in cans but never visited one of their actual coffee shops before! I got the draft oat milk latte as recommended by so many Yelp Elites. I loved every single sip of it! Indeed it was super creamy and smooth. The oat milk flavors as well as the latte/coffee flavors are both very prominent! Its also served cold but without ice which is typically my go-to preference! Their chocolate croissant was pretty standard. Wish I got to try their pumpkin cro-fin (croissant muffin)? Store itself radiated your cute hipster coffee shop vibes with brick walls, black tables, and long bar stool area. Staff were nice to me, but I wish they were more patient in explaining different drink options to others who may not know as much about coffee? La Colombe offers a wide range of coffee options and honestly as a frequent coffee shop visitor I was still a little intimidated. La Colombe is clearly really proud of their attention to the technicality of coffee making, but I wish that information was more accessible/available in a welcoming way to those who want to learn more. Overall, love their fancy coffee and hope they can reach more people with their yummy drinks!

I asked for a double to-go that would survive the subway, and they hooked it up in a coffee cup with a lid. An hour later, the gelato still held its shape and texture! Flavors are truly unique, something you may never find anywhere else. You can get two flavors in a small bowl, and the serving size is NOT small! I enjoyed their popular MASCARPONE AND BERRIES for one flavor. It was really good. Creamy with a slight cream cheese like flavor. The fresh berries are a wonderful mix in. I paired this with ROASTED STRAWBERRY. They literally roast the strawberries before adding to the gelato. It tastes like real strawberries! It was phenominal, and my favorite of the two if I had to pick. My daughter ordered the PISTACHIO falvor, a traditional gelato offering. It was extra dense while creamy delicious. I sampled the OLIVE OIL soft serve. It tasted predominantly like vanilla. I wouldn't order this one. Expect a long line coming out of the storefront. It moves reasonably quick and is worth the wait! The staff made it a fun experience, and were not frazzled over the long line (at least didn't show it).

A short jaunt the hotel and squarely in downtown, it's an all things cobbler themed spot. Kids got Mac and cheese with meat, plus a mini cobbler, and my better half and I shared a "biscuit cobbler" - which was effectively a delicious biscuit over top a thick soup. It was solidly in the pretty good category. A little cold in the middle but it filled me up. The biscuits were excellent - like Bojangles good (Biscuit connoisseurs will feel that!). The Mac and cheese was good and the cobblers were solid. The mini cobbler was like $2 and came as part of a combo. Get that - enough to get a good taste, but not massive. The banana pudding (the bourbon walnut specifically) was the show stopper for me. I'm sure it's gonna box, but it was really good! The woman helping us was very nice and got us served and fed quickly. Not an every day spot, but an, I'm walking by and feeling like dessert at 2 pm sort of spot for sure!

They have an array of non-dairy sorbets on hand as well with fun flavors like lemon lavender. I'm a sucker for hard to find and clever flavor combinations. The cherry on top? A freezer held a wide selection of gelato pints, including some flavors not available in the display case. I appreciated that even the small cup could be split into two flavors. The gelato, vegan options, and sorbetto were all neatly organized, and the staff were generous with portions. Deeper into the shop, there was also a dessert case and a menu for coffee drinks. *Toasted Almond: intensely nutty and very forward in flavor. It tasted almost exactly like almond extract in the best way. One of my favorite nut based gelato flavors I have had. *Vanilla: similarly bold, with a rich and pronounced vanilla flavor. A sweeter take on a classic, but still very satisfying. *Green Tea: well executed with a clear earthiness. It was not overly sweet or milky, making it a solid and above average version. *Cherry Blossom: a seasonal flavor that could have easily felt gimmicky, but was handled well. It reminded me of a lighter lavender honey profile, not overly fragrant or sweet. It tasted natural and paired nicely with creamier flavors. *Espresso: true to its name, though slightly sweeter than expected. It was the least sweet of the group but did not stand out as particularly bold or aromatic. *Honey Mascarpone Fig: my favorite of everything I tried. The mascarpone added a slight tang and depth, while the honey and fig brought a soft, almost jammy sweetness. This was the most balanced flavor and would pair well with many others. While they do not offer as many flavors as some dessert shops, the quality across the board makes up for it. The execution is strong enough that it does not rely on gimmicks, and I would definitely return to try more of their seasonal offerings.

No issues with checking in and being seated in a timely manner, even showing up a little early in our case. Very attentive, not overbearing, and answered all our questions. My wife and I split a salad that we loved although felt it could have been more flavorful. It was missing something that we couldn't pinpoint whether it was croutons, tomatoes, etc although we still enjoyed it. We followed dinner up with coffee that hit the spot, along with a chocolate dessert that Clemente brought to celebrate our anniversary. It was a lovely evening thanks to Clemente and the team.
