I came to Big Bear to snowboard for the first time, so I was in need of some gear. Luckily I was able to borrow some from my friends, but I still needed to rent boots. Because of their low prices and the fact that you can make your reservation online for pickup the day before your rental, I went with Blauer Board Rentals. My friends and I came to pick up my boots after dinner, so we arrived at around 7:45 pm. As soon as we walked in, we were told that they were closing in 15 minutes. I was very confused by this because on Yelp it says that they close at 10 pm every day. Several of the employees seemed very agitated, and the woman who checked for my reservation was extremely unfriendly. When I went to get sized for the boots, the two guys working there were more friendly and helpful. I apologized for showing up so close to closing time, as I would have shown up earlier if I knew they closed at 8 pm instead of 10. I tried to be as quick as possible to prevent them from staying late, so I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Be aware that the hours published are not correct and make sure you plan accordingly if you choose to go with Blauer Board Rentals. read more

We came here sort of last minute to gear up my son for snowboarding. We rented EVERYTHING.. jacket, bib, snowboard, boots, helmet. Then we bought goggles, socks, gloves. All in all, it was about $150 for everything, which felt a little expensive for me (the jacket+bib was $30 alone.. almost as much as the snowboard/boots/helmet combined). Also, size selection for a 5 year old is pretty poor, but we made it work. If your child is under 5, they probably will not have anything their size (well, maybe for the board, but definitely not the clothes). Selection was good for the stuff we bought, and the service speed was stellar. We did not take advantage of the 10% off, which we should have, but I was in a rush and forgot. Oh well. read more

We rented 2 pairs of skis and one snowboard. Online rental was eas but the listed phone number on the website was incorrect. The worst part was, we had several equipment failures. With one pair of skis, the boot calibration changed while coming down the mountain, so the space was too large. When we returned the skis and let them know, the response was "Well, did you fix it?" For the snowboard, the size was incorrectly, too short or maybe just a bad board, idk, so we had to rent another snowboard while at Snow Summit. We suggest for people who don't know much about equipment and what they need, who rely on the store to provide you with safe and correct equipment, to avoid renting from here. read more

Every single employee was BEYOND accommodating, informative and helpful, when it came to renting some gear. They made us all feel super comfortable and so excited for the girls to hit the slopes. This place has the best deal! When we walked in, the employees were very busy juggling multiple customers at a time. They were able to get people in and out while providing good customer service. One of the guys working (I didn't get his name) helped me setup my new Flow bindings and thanks to his expertise, I learned how to setup my bindings properly. Also, they have a nice machine that waxes your board quick. They really do a good job! My board ran smooth and I feel like my snowboard was properly tuned thanks to this place. My friends rented snowboard gear. The quality of the boards are A+. My friend got a brand new snowboard to use for her first time. Can't beat that! If you want to save time and about $10, rent your ski/snowboard here instead of at the resort. Cheaper and faster, what else could you as for. Only thing is that you'd have to transport the gear from here to the resort so make sure to leave room in your car. read more

Snowboarding in president's day weekend. All 7 of us piled into my tiny SUV. Couldn't fit our boards in the car so we decided to rent at Snow Summit. After seeing snow summit's rental prices I opted to look elsewhere. Thanks to good old Yelp I found this place that's just down the block from Snow Summit. Stopped by first thing on Saturday morning to rent snowboarding gear. They're awesome! We were the first ones to pull up. The staff was in the front shoveling snow from the steps. It was half an hour before the store officially opened but they took us in anyways. They were quick, efficient, friendly, and cracked some jokes with us as well. Prices were very reasonable. The boards and boots were in great condition! Would definitely rent from them again! read more

However, disappointed that one of the boots had holes or something. Barely hit the slopes and the bottom of my socks were wet already. Soggy socks isn't fun at all, especially when it's cold. Cheap rentals in close proximity to Snow Summit and hilarious service. My friend found this place for deals that are apparently way better than the ones found by the slopes, which is fine cause this location is just down the street so you won't need to go far. Got a rental on the snowboard, boots, and helmet all for about $35. The best part was that the guys working here are all pretty funny. Honestly... I'm very disappointed I wasted money here. The guy I first spoke too seemed helpful but was busy shortly after he greeted me and then the girl who "helped" me was no help at all. I asked about some ski pants that were in the adult women's section and she said "oh yes half of these are children but this ones should be womens!" After having a closer look it was blatantly clear which were children and which were adults because the children's version had a pocket on the front the the adult version did not. The ones she said were "for sure adult" were not. Then I settled on a pair of overpriced basic pants that didn't even fit great but seemed to be the only affordable option. I asked her opinion about gloves and she said the ones I chose were "more of a light spring glove hehe" and did not suggest a better option. After leaving, when I got to the skii resort there were better options of everything they had in store here. I thought the resort would be over priced but compared to this ski shop the prices were more than reasonable! I wish I had not wasted my time here and just bought everything at the resort which I had to do anyways because everything I bought here was so bad... If I were to come back here it would ONLY be for rentals. Seems like that is what this place is best for but if you need to purchase anything just go somewhere else. read more

Brian and his team were absolutely fabulous here! They helped to accommodate a really special trip and made sure that we were stress free on the slopes. Their shop runs smoothly and the prices are fair. Family run and it shows! They go the extra mile, and they care. They also made a point to honor a military discount that meant a lot to us. They've been in the business for at least three generations, and they really know their stuff regarding skis and conditioning and different skier levels. Also extremely convenient as it is. Just down the street from the slopes. Definitely better than renting on the slopes in terms of ease and speed. Highly recommended. read more

Mini version of the main Blauer Ski & Board Rentals store located at 41177 Big Bear Blvd. They have a decent selection of ski and snowboarding rental equipment and some accessories for purchase. I got the basic snowboard package rental for $23.50. The people that worked here on the morning I got my stuff were not nice and did not provide good customer service. They could almost care less that I was there. That is the reason for a 3 star. The guy that was there when I dropped off my stuff was nice. There are plenty of other rental options in Big Bear that take pride in good customer service. This place should take note. read more
