Blaze is such a welcome edition to Newark! It's conveniently located near NJPAC, Prudential Center, and Penn Station. On a warm day, you could grab your pie and head across the street to Military Park. I typically start with one of their 8 pie ideas and then customize it. Tonights order: art lover (artichokes, mozzarella, ricotta, chopped garlic, red sauce dollops) with no ricotta, add roasted garlic, garlic pesto around crust, and drizzled with pesto when out of the oven. Soooo delicious! The pie is $8.25 and lasts me two (small) meals. The Blaze experience takes about 5 minutes if there isn't a line. With a line, it's maybe 7 minutes from start to finish. When you pay, ask for a drink and fill your cup with the blood orange lemonade. Make sure you pay with the app and earn flames towards a reward! While Blaze is pretty perfect in my eyes, I wish there was some consistency when it comes to the pride their employees take while building my pizza. I want them to build my pie the same way that they would build their own...with love. I am almost always happy, but I've had two occasions where my pie was thrown together. Quick (sometimes) and delicious pizza that you can craft for yourself. Every time I come to Blaze I like to do the Build Your Own to get everything I want on my pie. My go-to order is usually the classic red sauce, mozzarella and ovalini mozzarella cheese. My meat toppings are pepperoni and Italian meatballs and my non meat toppings are mushrooms, bell peppers, and fresh basil. They do offer fresh sea salt and oregano as a finish but the salt makes it overly salty for me so I always skip that option. The drink I love to get is their passion fruit agua fresca; it's always delicious and goes well with my meal. Blaze is a hit or miss; you either have no one in the establishment or a really long line so it really is the luck of the draw. The cook time at Blaze is always the same, 90 seconds, which is great if you're in a rush. The staff is always nice and friendly. read more

Good spot to pick up a tasty NY pizza pie. The "Subway style" walk through was easy to use & the staff was very helpful. Fantastic freshly cooked custom pizza! Best part is that you can customize it online and then it will be ready by the time I walk here made specifically. Sometimes I go all out and choose every topping available and end up with the most colorful pizza you've ever seen. You get very good value and I don't know a pizzeria that comes close. The cons is that the line is very long and no seating during lunch time. Some customers are very inconsiderate and put their bags on seats when it's completely full and refuse to move it when others are standing with their pizza in hand. read more

I'm not good with restaurants where they allow the customer to pick all the ingredients. I always fuck it up and the result is something that doesn't quite taste right. The asian places where you pick your own sauces? Mine always taste like ass. Subway? Tastes like ass (although, it's Subway so the fault might not be mine). But here at Blaze, I always order a Build your own pie, and no matter what I put on it, it tastes great. And I pile it on- my pizzas look more like open faced sandwiches on a salad than a pizza. Note: I never really trust reviews where they mention an employee by name because I automatically think, "That's a shill!" but the manager Joey is a great guy. Yeah, I finally made it to Blaze Pizza on Monday!!!! Wow, the line was almost out the door. This was about 1:30 PM. Seating was very limited at this time. It took about eight minutes to come up to the front counter. The Blaze staff asked me if I had been here before. I mentioned that I had been to Blaze in Willowbrook Mall. You are given several options for pizza such as Simple Pizza $5.00, Signature pizzas $7.85 along with build your own pizza $7.85. All the pizzas are under $10.00. Delicious salads are available too! Right now, the only dessert available is the S'More Pie $2.00 (only 220 cal.:) I ordered the Delicious Signature Red Vine Pizza. They wrote my name on a paper mat. Later, the pizza would be placed on this mat. I paid for the pizza. I would say it took about five minutes from the order to actually receiving the pizza. I went over to get my favorite Red Orange Lemonade :). I previously had this lemonade at the Blaze Pizza Yelp event at Willowbrook Mall. That's why I know it's delicious :) The manager Joe C. came over to say hello and chat. He told me that the restaurant opened to the public on November 19th. At this time, lots of seating became available. I guess everyone finished their pizza and had to go back to the office. I enjoyed the pizza and the delicious Red Orange Lemonade. I think because of such a large lunch crowd, the pizza could've been a little bit more crispy. However, it was still delicious. All in all, I had a wonderful second experience at Blaze Pizza. The place is very well organized. The counter line moves quickly from ordering, adding toppings, payment and receiving a delicious pizza. While I was eating the pizza, a Blaze staff member came by with vouchers for a free pizza with the purchase of one regularly priced pizza. Yeah! On the back of this voucher it mentions that you can order online BLAZEPIZZA.COM. They will custom build your pizza before you arrive. But they will wait until you check in with the cashier before sending it to the oven. All the staff appeared confident in their roles. I was unaware of this place until a fellow Yelper Constance A. recommended we should meet here for lunch. I mentioned to another Yelper Christie L. from Las Vegas, who loves pizza that I was going here for the first time. Christie said their pizza is very good. Christie recommended I should order the ovaline mozzarella. Ovaline refers to the size of the Mozzarella balls, being 4 oz in size similar to the size of an egg. This was my first visit here. I am glad Constance recommended it. We arrived on a weekday at 1pm. The line was almost up to the front entrance, but, moved quickly. It is like a production line. As the line moves along you can customize and add any additional unlimited ingredients to your pizza. The pizza is thin crust so it cooks very fast. As you can see from my pic I ordered the meat eater pizza with ovaline and hot peppers. Constance ordered the BBQ chicken pizza also with ovaline and hot peppers. We both enjoyed our spicy pizzas and shared a taste of each other's. The employees here are very passionate here as they walk around insuring you are happy with your pizza and experience. Blaze, I'm so glad you made it here. And you're just in time. The Monk Room, which was my favorite pizza place in Newark, recently closed, leaving only one good option: Mercato Tomato Pie. With Blaze, Newark now has two. Henry Ford should rise from the dead just to see Blaze's operation. They have mastered the assembly line. Henry would be proud. Blaze is where Chipotle met Subway, only you don't get a choice to put your pizza in a bowl or a burrito or in any of that nasty Subway bread. This is build your own pizza, which seems like a disastrous undertaking from a management standpoint, only because they offer so many topping choices for what I'm assuming is a very indecisive type of customer. Located right between a new Starbuck's and a Nike outlet store, and next to the new Prudential building, this place is a symbol of Newark's rise from the dust. Build your own pizza or select one of their 8 pre-selected topping choices. Either way, you won't spend more than $10 per pie. 6 slices. Thin crust. Made to order in minutes. Delicious. Frozen, Pizza Hut knockoff. Super thin crusted but cheap tasting ingredients, although fresh IT all starts with the sauce which is canned and cheese which is monotone and bland in flavor. Blaze pizza is a well known pizza place where me and my friends tend to go eat. When going here the first time I was only expecting a good basic pizza, but i got a beautifully made cheese pizza. It was better than any others i've had. It's heated right in front of you and get it fresh out of the oven. The pizza is gooey and has the perfect amount of sauce and cheese combined. The people and service were so so nice and helped with everything. They made sure we had a good experience and keeping us full with great food. The restaurant itself is well kept and clean. I love Blaze!! Newark..Livingston. Both are super clean and have great employees. The toppings are always fresh. The addition of side/full salads is an added bonus. Ceasar, Arugala with blueberries and strawberries, and a spinach feta mix were available. I did make the mistake of going garlic OD on one pizza---getting the garluc pesto base then topping it with roasted garlic. It was still a great pizzar though. I always love the turkey meatball, pepperoni and mushrooms. This is such a cool concept. Build your own pizza or choose from one of the signature ones. From beginning to end, you the customer are in control of building your culinary masterpiece . Pick your crust. Gluten free? You got it. Garlic pesto, marinara, spicy red sauce? They have it. Wow, was I surprised to see this neat little place pop up in downtown Newark! My husband and I decided to go on a date to try it out after visiting their website. The concept was interesting, a chipotle-like style way of ordering a personal pan pizza. When we walked in the door we were impressed with the new look of the place. It's not very big but high ceilings help to make the illusion that it's bigger than it really is. The staff was very helpful as well. If you've been to Newark, then you know it's not the most pleasant city, however, the staff at Blaze was smiling, kind, and walked us through the process of getting our pizza since it was our first time there. The other very impressive part of the establishment was the pizza toppings. There were so many toppings and they all looked fresh and delectable. The set-up was clean too. They fired up our pizzas in the pizza oven where you can watch it. The crust was thin but not crunchy, which is good because I hate when a thin crust is more like a damn cracker. You can chose one of the pizzas they have come up with or make your own. We both chose a signature pizza. I got the Link In and my husband for the Green Stripe. Both were really nice! I ordered the pizza thru the app. I asked for a delivery . I called the door dash driver and she hung up on me. I contacted door dash and I was told I would have to call the store. When I called the broad street store I was hung up on . The second time I asked for a manager and a female by the name of Ashley came to the phone. I told her that I had been hung up on by the delivery person and now a second time by her crew member . I asked her for the status of my order and her first response was to give it some time because they are in the down town area . I advised her from my house to the place is less then 10 minutes. SShe put me on hold and when she came back in the phone she alleged that I was not getting it because the door dash delivery person did not get it in time. After waiting door dash personnel called and advised me that the dasher did in fact pick it up on time it's just her car was not functioning. The pizza is indeed "fast-fire'd," but the entire process from start to finish is anything but fast. This location has been consistently slow every time I come, and I'm certain they can improve their efficiency/speed. For example, Subway has the same made-to-order concept, but you move through the line rather quickly. At Blaze, I now expect to be stuck in line for ~15 minutes, starting from when the first worker takes my order. I still return because I do enjoy the pizza with its thin crust (it's rather oily though), and at least some of the workers are cheery. But if you're in a rush, this isn't the place to go! read more

Horrible service! I waited over 40 minutes for my pizza to be done. To make matters worse, my pizza was burnt because the individual handling the pizzas wasn't paying attention to the order he put pizzas in. He asked if I was fine with it and I had to say yes because I couldn't afford to wait another 40 minutes. He also didn't use his time efficiently, he took pizzas out without putting the uncooked pizzas into the oven. This caused an additional 20 minute delay between each serving of cooked pizzas. I go to Blaze a couple times a year. The food is decent and I like it. Minus 2 stars due to customer service. This place takes your order on wax paper that they then build the pizza on. Once your pizza is assembled and placed in the oven, they then give the wax paper to the cashier. The cashier touches cash money, debit cards, and credit cards and now, also your wax paper. The cashier moves touches the wax paper to ring up your order than slide it to the finishing touches station where another team member will put your freshly cooked pizza on top of the wax paper that the cashier touched. I always have to ask the cashier not to touch the wax paper where my food goes because they touch cash money and credit cards. They either don't listen (and I request the food to be made over from scratch), or they listen but get an attitude about it or (this is most rare) the person says, "oh that's no problem, I understand." The trouble is you don't know which type of cashier you're going to get. It's really simple y'all. Anyone handling cash money should not be touching any part of my pizza. It's very annoying to have to request that every single time. read more

1. Horrible customer service. HORRIBLE. Each employee that works there is visibly miserable. The worst is the guy at the end of the line that takes your payment and cuts the pizza before putting it in the box. He was so angry for no reason, slamming pizzas down on the counter and had a nasty attitude every time the customer asked for something.
