Pizza was burned to a crisp, the crust was charred black and the same amount of pepperoni dominos would use on a pepperoni pizza. The supposed Sicilian crust was garbage and actually peeled up so you had a slice of bread and a New York thin slice with toppings not to mention we watched the driver through the app waiting on our pizza yet it got here almost cold. First off let me say that the pizza here is amazing! A slice only costs around $3.20 and might be one of the best slices of cheese pizza I ever had. Drinks at Sabatinos are really fairly priced with a can of soda costing $1.20 which is cheaper than anywhere around. It is no wonder that famous celebrities have come to this pizza place like Dave Portnoy and SZA. The service is excellent with the moment you walk in the door being greeted. Upfront, the food is delicious. I've been ordering from here for 3 years because I think it's one of the better pizza places in the area. Having said that, I'll never order from here again after last night. I ordered a pizza online through Slice at 4:30 for a 5:30 pickup. Upon arrival I was told my pizza just went out with a delivery driver even though I ordered pickup. Turns out they sent my order out to be delivered to someone else. I was told the driver would be bringing my order back. A full hour later, I was told I was getting a refund and I can keep the pizza and a new pizza was being made. When the new pizza finally came out, they then tried to charge me full price after standing out in the cold for an hour because they gave away my first pizza. After an argument with the owner I was told to "take your food and go home", which I did. This morning I woke up to find that they added the charges back onto my slice account after I left the restaurant. Moral of this is review is that if Sabatinos messes up your order in any way( which they do often based on my past experience and other reviews), don't expect them to take any responsibility for it. Check for any refund they've claimed to have given because they are super shady and may not have actually given the refund. It's a roll of the dice if your going to get your food or a night of frustration read more

Fire. Absolute amazing food. There's some real thought going into each of the dishes. Sab is not afraid to experiment with flavors and to accommodate his customers (more like family). I highly recommend the general Tso pizza or chicken parm pizza. The tomato soup is also very hearty and house salad is divine. Since the start of the pandemic, it has been fascinating to experience the range of responses from businesses, locally as well as nationally. We set out with some trepidation at the beginning of the summer, ordering at many of our beloved local establishments. Sabatino's pizza quality has remained at the same high level as always, now with the added changes of them moving to take-out orders only. Completely understandable, and it's also heartening to see that the staff wears gloves and masks, as far as I could see from my sidewalk waiting perch. Yet the wait times vary quite a bit here, probably more than at other pizzerias. Some days, the stated wait is 45 minutes to an hour. Other times, it can go as long as 90 minutes. This, in and of itself, wouldn't be a problem if the estimates were accurate, but on our last order (two pies: one plain, one veggie, which is pretty awesome) there were up to a dozen people outside waiting for their food. My own wait was a half-hour longer than expected, which seems longer when it's chilly outside and there's nowhere to sit. Again, the situation is understandable, although it appears that they are understaffed during high-volume periods. There's one guy making pizza and a few more folks in the back kitchen, and no doubt that it would be a challenge for anyone to operate in such strange times. If you're not looking for a last-minute dinner option at the start of the weekend, or if you order earlier than usual, chances are you'll have your order promptly. But make no mistake: The food is excellent. (The veggie pizza was a pleasant surprise, with eggplant and roasted tomatoes among the mix of edible goodies without a face.) We still haven't tried the chicken parm or other specialty pizzas but hope to as soon as things calm down. (For posterity, I've included the text of my previous review below.) When our family saw that a new pizzeria was opening in Maplewood, we kind of wondered why since there are some excellent places to get the ol' round sauce-cheese-crust creation. After visiting a couple of times, we are SO GLAD that they did open in a space on Valley Street. So far, we've only sampled the plain ("cheese" in non-NYC speak) pizza, which is absolutely exquisite and the basis for everything else any Italian-based eatery creates. The sauce is fresh and flavorful without being overpowering. The crust is the perfect balance between chewy and crispy in all the right places. The cheese appears in the correct proportion with its ingredient companions. The net effect is a perfect slice or pie. One member of our household calls it their favorite local pizza, hands-down. I'm inclined to agree, though I find that I am often in the mood for one or the other. We're excited to try some of the specialty slices and the chicken parm sub! read more

This new pizza and Italian restaurant is quickly becoming a Maplewood favorite. The staff is as friendly as can be and the food is delicious. We ordered their signature roasted zucchini pizza, the "whole lotta burrata" pizza, and arugula and prosciutto on cauliflower crust. They were all fantastic. The roasted zucchini and burrata were both packed full of toppings and flavor. They do an especially good job with the details, like an extra drizzle of olive oil or balsamic. The dough was tender and had just the right thickness. The only thing I will say is that you need to eat it right away, because it gets tough and chewy as it cools and sets, so if your taking it home, keep it warm in the oven. This was my first time having a cauliflower crust pizza and it was great. Thin and crispy with a nice flavor. Everyone is so friendly and genuinely interested in engaging with the customers. Excellent pizza!! We ordered the general tsaos and cauliflower buffalo chicken pizza. It was phenomenal. We travel almost 25 min to go to Sabatino's and it's worth it! We have also ordered chicken chicken cutlet over pizza which was amazing as well. You can absolutely tell that the ingredients are fresh. Sooo, i'm torn on what to leave as a review. I ordered fries, a 513 chicken sandwich, and a slice of pizza. The fries were definitely reheated and were terrible, i ended up just throwing them away. I actually thank them for that since i'm on a diet and shouldn't have ordered them anyway. Now, the chicken sandwich was very tasty and exactly what I had a taste for, but it did not include the garlic i requested, and the mozzarella was cold. I expected the cheese would be melted and not just placed on the sandwich cold. Aside from that it was good so I will order again and clarify my expectations next time. If i have a similar experience again I will drop the rating, but overall the taste was good. The slice was good and I would try the pizza again. read more

The pizza at Sabatino's lives up to its stellar reviews on Yelp. We walked by and placed an order for a small personal pie, which was ready in 10 minutes. The entire process was contactless and they had a very good system where patrons could wait in their cars until their names were called, limiting interactions with staff and other patrons in waiting. The pizza was wonderful: piping hot, heaped with melty cheese, with a generous amount of pepperoni. The sauce is homemade, tangy and garlicky, enjoyed by all including picky kids. Their pizza is one of the best pizzas I've ordered by the slice. After a very long and emotional day I decided to randomly look up a nearby pizza place and I'm so glad I found Sabatino's. I noticed they treat every customer like family, knowing their names and asking about what they're up to. It makes me wish I lived closer as my local pizzeria doesn't have half the customer service nor taste in food as they do. Despite not knowing me, and the very obvious drained and tired demeanor I had, they still made it a point to ask about my day and get to know me. While waiting for my pizza, I could tell the quality and love they put into their food just by how they add the finishing touches and double-check every order. Not enough staff to handle calls. On hold 10 mins. Then called from different number and they answered right away so I placed an order. Went to pickup the pizza, that was even more of a disaster. There were people waiting 2 hours for slices, huge unorganized line in front of the shop. Somehow I got my two pies 20 minutes after my original pickup time which was great compared to others last night. The girl taking names was doing the best she could but not organized and had people and food waiting when they didn't need to be. The kitchen staff is a disaster and the main chef is rude to the staff and towards the customers. Pizza was terrible undercooked and just not good. Avoid this place like the plague!!! read more

Pizza--4.5 stars. Managing orders--1 star. This only pertains to Thursday-Saturday nights. Whether it's using the Slice app or calling in, Sabatino's hasn't figured out how much business they're able to manage when it's busy and the orders back up, to where it can take up to 2 hours to get your order. If they or the Slice app could give you an accurate time (even if it's 2 hours) for pick up, that would be fine. But there have consistently been over a dozen or more people (mostly delivery drivers) waiting for 30-45 minutes AFTER the Slice app or Sab's employees via the phone tell you that your order will be ready. This sucks because their food is so good, but will look elsewhere for now on predictably busy nights. They should stop taking orders at some point--a tough formula to figure out--I hope they do and I'll be back for sure. read more

I'm not a Facebook person so I missed much of the news about this new business in Maplewood. Visited last evening and I believe I've found "my new pizza joint ". The crust were cooked perfectly and the flavors were great. (Roasted Zucchini) We chose to carry out. A larger seating area would have scored five stars. If you're in the area looking for something unique, you can't go wrong with Sabatino's. Their pizza is great. But do not pay until you've received your order. I was told they didn't have an item, offered a substitution, which I was happy to take. But the kid at the door could not tell me what else I could substitute it with so I didn't know what to say. He later said they would just refund the item. I was never refunded. If I go back will make sure to pay in cash or just not pay until I get my order. It's unfortunate because I've ordered a lot from here, but this experience has definitely left a sour taste and it seems like others have had some similar experiences. Great pizza.
