Heard that new owners had taken over so we finally tried them out Went during the July 4th weekend so it was quiet and we snagged a table and parking right away. Food came out quick and hot. Nothing special but just done right. Pancakes were a hit with my little one. Going on our weekend breakfast rotation.

4 & 1/2...Taylor Ham (or Pork Roll depending on which part of the Garden State a person hails from) must be an acquired taste. While I initially was repelled, I have subsequently converted to a full fledged fan over the course of the past few years of working quite a bit in NJ, and this wonderful establishment in the great urban town of Kearny has earned the crown for the best I've ever had of it. The gloriously gluttonous gut-busting "Johnny's Hangover Special" also qualifies for a spot high on my list of all time best breakfast sandwiches of any type, well worth a trip across the State line. The fat stack sandwich features relatively thick slices of the salty pork product layered between a fusion of delectable chunk of crispy savory fried potatoes melded with soft scrambled eggs and cheese, all seasoned and griddled to perfection stuffed inside a heavenly squishy and delicious Portuguese style roll. True to the name it would surely provide the salve you need to help you recover from the wildest of nights, as well as leave you thoroughly stuffed for most if not the rest of the day. Pro tip; accompany the life-changing sandwich with one of the wonderful, unique and delicious specialty coffee drinks that will delight your social media feeds followers as much as your tastebuds with their eye popping presentations. Decor and atmosphere are like a set designers dream of a classic NJ diner, and pretty much guaranteed to be packed especially on a weekend. Parking in Kearny is as challenging as literally anywhere within the five boroughs so be prepared to hunt down a spot, but trust me that it's worth the effort. I know a new, social media skilled family took the reigns of this spot a year ago from the longtime previous owners and while I can't compare the two I can definitively say that the new owners are at the very least honoring he legacy in best possible way imaginable if not improving on it. Long live the Greeks!

***CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT*** ATM on site. TLDR: HIGHLY RECOMMEND. If you enjoy breakfast sandwiches, the Taylor Ham, egg and cheese is a MUST. The Greeks is a staple of Kearny and a contender,if not already, for the best Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese in NJ. With that being said, I had to stop by and try it out after the Grand re-opening on 11/25/24. There was plenty of street parking (not always the case) so it was a quick trip. This is a no frills, hole in the wall, family owned establishment. It is very small and usually crowded with locals. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and provided with a menu. I order the THEC to go and let's just say it did not disappoint. The sandwich was very generously put together, eggs was perfectly cooked, Taylor ham wasn't too salty, cheese was perfectly melted and the bread was fluffy. Their menu is simple but just reading it shows that they have a lot of fundamental diner items. They also have specials every day which are not on the menu and I will definitely be back to try more items.

Small but very special!! Food and drinks were very good unique and delicious. Food was fresh, well prepared and tasty. The outdoor seating brings a little extra to the place and the staff was very friendly.

My husband enjoyed the drip coffee, and I had the delicious hazelnut almond milk freddo espresso!

Food nourishes the soul. The customer service exudes warmth and care. This family-owned establishment radiates unity and love. It's truly beautiful to witness their interactions while I enjoy my breakfast. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone.

Finally had the chance to stumble on in to The Greeks in Kearny, NJ today for what some people consider the best Jersey Meat/Egg/Cheese in the state!! I don't care to argue over the name of it. Call it pork roll, call it Taylor ham, call it your aunt sally...I say Jersey Meat to avoid the argument. This may or may not be the best one I've had, but it's absolutely in the conversation. 7 slices of controversy with two eggs and plenty of cheese on a delicious NJ fresh Kaiser roll. This sandwich is exactly $10 and this establishment is cash only. I am perfectly okay paying $10 for this with that much protein going on. The Greeks - Didn't Suck!

Words cannot describe how good their pistachio / Dubai chocolate infused breakfast items are. Completely revolutionizing sweet breakfast eats. Tiramisu iced latte gets me ready to go to war. Love the staff and atmosphere everything about this place is amazing and makes my big back heart sing

Being a transplanted Northerner I don't often get a chance to try local NJ legends, but on this Xmas trip to NY/NJ I finally got to the Greeks, and boy I am glad I did.On the way up I stopped in and had the NJ special, taylor ham, egg and cheese between 2 pieces of french toast, one word to describe it : awesome !!!! One week later on the way home I stopped again and this time I settled ‍for the basic taylor ham , egg and cheese on a roll, once again: awesome. If you are a local you don't need my opinion to try this place, but if you are a foodie and looking for a piece of real small town America, take The NJ turnpike to exit 15W and treat yourself !!!!!

In the words of my boyfriend... "the best Taylor ham egg and cheese ever". Since I'm not a fan of Taylor ham, I know I know, I leave the reviewing to my boyfriend on that one. Trust me, he's a Taylor ham fan. He really said it was perfect, just the right ratio of ingredients and greasy Jersey meat to make a breakfast sandwich perfect. I went with the western omelette and it was truly enough for 4 meals. So much food. The home fries were great, overcooked but in the best way possible. Delicious eggs, loaded with toppings. We also got a side of elm street fries, again enough for 4 people. Tasty seasoned fries, chili, a ton of cheese, all topped with raw onion. They give you the option of cooked onion as well, I think both would work to be honest. Be aware, this place gets crazy busy. I called on a Saturday morning for pickup and the wait was an hour. It's worth it, just be prepared. Staff is hard working and friendly.

What can I say? This place is a local legend filled with local legends. You will never find a place with more Taylor Ham on the grill. Taylor ham is king. Though there is other fare on the menu, don't pass up on the Taylor ham. This place is the undisputed Cheers of Kearny NJ where everybody knows your name.

This is my second time here and it just baffles me how these guys are the only ones that can get this down to a perfect science. Everyone else just puts a heap of Taylor ham one the top and that's that. Not these guys. They layer it perfectly. That's the way to do it!!! It's beautiful. It's taste perfection. It's pride in making each sandwich. First time I went, I got the Taylor ham, egg, cheese on French toast and it was the best thing I ever had. This time I went with the Hangover, which was Taylor ham, egg, cheese and their famous potatoes. This is not for the faint of heart. Weighed about as much as my car's spare tire and had the flavor to back it up. My wife went with the normal Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a hard roll. Best TEC this side of the Mason Dixon Line. I dare you. I challenge you to find a better Taylor ham, egg and cheese. Can't be done. Just remember that it's cash only, so hit the ATM before going.

Parking is also highly convenient. The menu is extensive and I can't wait to go back to try everything they have. There are the classic breakfast items of course, but they also have some innovative dishes or familiar dishes with a spin. I ordered the jerk chicken pasta which was spicy, so flavorful and also a great portion size. Others in our party ordered pancakes, which were so fluffy, eggs, fried chicken, fried catfish and more. Everything was fried to perfection and the catfish tasted like it had literally just jumped out of the ocean. Our waiter was super nice and we had a big party so I'm sure it wasn't easy. My only suggestion is that they make their hot drinks hotter. Other than that, I'd seriously come back every weekend.

READ FULL REVIEW!!!…read more March 2026: First time at this establishment was just ok. Hosted a very small get-together here (5 guest). Atmosphere was nice. Music was wayy too loud to hear the person you're sitting next to. Food was tasty and fresh. Coffee was good with great creamer selection (at the time). Our server was my least favorite part of this experience. He was over the top with his energy and upscale tactics (pushy with getting us to order extra drinks and appetizers despite declining). I was hosting this event and did not need him selling us after already being told "no, thank you" twice. It was awkward and ultimately changed the vibe. He hardly checked on us after that encounter and we constantly had to remind them about request that were never brought out to the table. Staff needs to be trained better. This was just an ok experience. April 2026 : What ultimately lead me to write this review was my 2nd experience at this diner. The server was a lot better than our first experience, but we did run into a few too many problems. First, we ordered coffee and are informed that per managements request, we can only have half-half or cream with our coffee. Previously they had French vanilla creamers and other flavored creamers but I guess management decided to save on the additional cost. This was a bummer especially realizing that they could easily afford creamers. This restaurant easily pulls at least $150,000 per week in revenue, so I didn't understand cheapening out like that. I still ordered the coffee. When it came to the table I added the cream into the cup only to find something floating in the coffee. I send it back and ask for a new cup, which the server politely provided. We order our meals and all goes well. Eventually two of the three meals come out and we wait for the final plate to come out. It's common courtesy to wait for everyone to have their meal before eating, so we wait. We wait about 6-7 minutes and the final plate comes out only for it to be cold. All of us ordered breakfast, so you can imagine trying to eat cold egg, potato, and sausage. We ask for the waiter, but before he could get to us the manager passes by and we let him know the issue. He takes the plate to the back and about two minutes later he comes back with the same exact plate. Before the manager arrived to take the plate away, I saw the guest split the egg half and add black pepper on everything so we knew it was the same plate and food she started eating off of that was reheated onto the kitchen grill where other food is being prepared for guest. The manager informs us that he had the chef heat the food up on the griddle and that it should be a perfect temperature. We refuse to accept the plate because it was reheated and not remade entirely. We were shocked that this was the solution even being offered. Reheating food on the griddle seemed unsafe (contamination risk, diseases, illness, etc) and offensive. No one pays these prices to have reheated breakfast served to them. I could've just made that at home for a fraction of the price. We politely refuse the reheated plate and he apologized and took the plate to the back. The server comes over to see what the issue is and we explain everything. He says that he will look into it and take that meal off the bill. Now I'm frustrated because one out of the three of us aren't eating anything and the experience was off. At this point, I'm not eating my meal but the 3rd guest is eating. So the guest who sent their plate back and myself are waiting for the 3rd guest to finish their pancakes. He ordered a stack of 4-5 chocolate chip pancakes and was happily eating away at layer by layer. Eventually he gets to the last 2 pancakes and before he adds syrup he notices what appeared to be an eyelash or short piece of hair imbedded in the pancake. Picture of the clearly imbedded hair included with this review. He immediately stopped eating and looks sick. He had already eaten 3-4 pancakes by then and the idea that he ate more of whatever that was felt unnerving, to say the least. We both start looking to see what he's looking at and long behold the hair was there. At this point we are extremely frustrated and completely over this experience. Management did not make this experience right even after addressing all of these issues both separately and together. I felt like my money was not valued and my business certainly wasn't. They did nothing to remedy these issues and I will NOT be going back to this establishment. This restaurant may look visually beautiful but the service is not. Staff needs more training, music needs to be turned down, chefs need to wear hairnets and everyone needs to follow safe food handling skills. You're putting your guest and your business at risk ignoring these issues. I really really wish I had a better experience.

We found parking about a block and a half away. The vibe inside is really cool. Very clean and very upbeat. I loved it. The acoustics for the band was great. Just a real chill environment. Service was very friendly but also seemed very confused. We ordered wings and got the wrong flavor. And then when we got our check at the end of the night, shots from the table next to us was on our bill. Thank God I was drinking soda most of the night or we may not have caught that. We started with the wings and honestly, they were below average at best. No crisp to them and some parts were just oddly chewy. I saw the table next to us had this wedge salad and I was then really craving it. We opted not to get anything else to eat because the wings were really just that disappointing and at the price point, we didn't want to risk it. Not to mention, the first two beers my buddy asked for.... They were sold out. You're having an event, how are you sold out before it even begins? There was a $15 cover to get in. I was ok with that because the band was beyond phenomenal and let's face it, they're not there for free. It has a ton of potential and from reading the reviews, I'm thinking maybe it was just an off night but I have to base this review on my experience.

Chef Kai was super welcoming and engaged in convo with us, including with our 8yo daughter - he set the tone for a cozy dining experience that felt like we had entered his home. Best ground chicken burger I've had - juicy and worked well with the brioche bun. The oxtail burger was super flavorful and tender. Next time I need to try the shrimp burger. I went with the side of sweet potato tots and oxtail gravy, and it was the best tots I've had especially in the gravy - again, quality and fresh. Shortly after, another couple came in and were told about 20 minutes. We were the only two parties waiting. When a table opened, the waitress began seating us, and the chef stopped her and asked the other (AA) couple if they were there first. He then told the gentleman, "I see you with family, and I'm not trying to start any problems." This was said while we were literally being seated, and nothing was said to us. It put us in an awkward and embarrassing position, as we would never intentionally skip ahead of anyone. As a Hispanic couple, the interaction also left us wondering if we were being treated differently, even if that wasn't the intention. Then the drink order added to the frustration. I ordered a hibiscus lemonade and my boyfriend ordered a regular lemonade. The waitress repeated it back incorrectly as strawberry, and I corrected her. About 10 minutes later she brought a strawberry lemonade anyway. When I said that wasn't what I ordered, the chef took the drink and handed it to the other couple who had just ordered a strawberry lemonade , saying it was freshly made and "they didn't want it." That was uncomfortable because I never ordered strawberry to begin with. Overall, the interaction felt dismissive and awkward. Mistakes happen, but the way this was handled -- especially the comments made -- left us feeling unwelcome. I hope this feedback helps improve communication and customer experience moving forward.

The dressing was balanced and flavorful, the greens fresh, and the salmon was cooked and seasoned really well.
