I mean, just wow. This place blew my mind! I first ventured in to try this place during the Best Burgers Portland, and to be honest I wasn't holding out much hope. Why? I can't say, just hadn't heard much about this place, so my bar was low. And to be honest, didn't think anyone would be able to compete with what was my current #1. To say they completely destroyed my bar is an understatement. Typically I say Five Guys is my favorite burger, everything else is just vying for second place. Well, five guys has now found itself in second place. Ive been back a second time now, and it wasn't just a fluke, damn good burgers, great sides, and great service. And did I mention incredible prices?!? First time I tried the Black and Bleu Burger with half fries/half tots salt n vinegar style. It was like the mayor of Flavortown punched me straight in the mouth. Juicy, saucy, cheesy perfection, all atop a nicely toasted bun. Perfectly crisp tots and fries, and just the right amount of salt n vinegar seasoning. So, a week later, a few more burgers down in the best burgers journey, you'd assume I'm tired of burgers by this point? Well, you'd assume wrong. Tried the little blaze, and the cheese curds. I mean, I can't say anything more than I've already said. Just. Yes. I can't wait to go back. One small downside, didn't love the chicken tenders that my 3 year old got. Great spot for a meal. Service was exceptional. They asked about how our meal was a few times, gave thoughtful suggestions, and plenty of time to look over all their combinations. The menu is extensive, even for a burger place. Lots of combinations and creations to try. I had the poutine burger. Fries, gravy, and cheese curds on top. It was a top 5 burger I've ever had. We used the new online order option to get curbside takeout during COVID times. This made things safer and easier for taking my two young kids along. I truly appreciated this service. They do one heck of a business here, always busy, so when you get there, you may need to call a few times to dodge the busy signal and let them know you've arrived. Once I succeeded in getting through, Alex was prompt and pleasant in his delivery. The food hit the spot! We got burgers, a hot dog, mozzarella sticks, deep friend cheese curds and broccoli cheddar bites. Hindsight: one form of fried cheese would have been enough. If you are struggling with the choice, go with the cheese curds. You get a TON of them and they are bite size. Once you pop, you can't stop! The burger was juicy, laying upon a toasted bun, and topped just the way I asked: with grilled mushrooms and onions. There aren't too many places who let you put whatever you want on your burger and don't charge you an arm and a leg per topping. Notice the hot dog... oh yeah, it's a red snapper! My son and I stopped by here on Sunday right before the Super Bowl, after seeing yummy pictures of their burgers online. We were greeted warmly by the owner and a young man that works there to a very clean and welcoming dining room. We chatted for a moment and then grabbed menus to see what we would like to order. I got the Big Blaze Burger and my son got the Big Blaze add a burger and bacon. We also got a side of poutine. I almost ordered wings, but the owner stopped me, only because he said that we had ordered A LOT of food already, lol. He did send out 2 wings each to my son and I that were absolutely delicious and really appreciated, because let's face it, he didn't have to do that. We dicided to eat in and we chatted with the young employee and the owner. Our food was HUGE!! I took a couple bites of the poutine (which was EXCELLENT) and then dug into my burger (I had pepper jack cheese and grilled onions added) and it was juicy and tasty. I was so stuffed when I was done, that I had to box up the yummy poutine (which actually reheated very well). My son was able to handle about half of his burger (which was GINORMOUS, like for real big). We will definitely be back! Great location, staff, owner, and food. Go here quickly before they realize that it's not 1986. Disco fries ("poutine") is 2/3 what you pay in the Disco State (NJ) for probably less food. Fried cheese curds rival the quality and quantity of twice the price in the Fried State (WI). The $5 shepherds pie must be made out of real shepherds because it weighs as much as a small human and is full of meat layered on meat. Other than the poutine "curds" melting like mozzarella cheese, Blazes is not just a stupendous value, but great food as well. Plus the service is an unmatched level of friendly and polite. I was looking forward to a quintessential Maine experience this summer when visiting my bf's family but not everything went as planned. While the lobster was delicious as expected what I really wanted was a red snapper hot dog. Luckily after an extensive search we found Blazes which serves red hot dogs not far from Portland Jetport. Not only were the hot dogs what I was craving, they also served super tasty little cheeseburgers and it all came on a cute newspaper print tray liner. Our burgers were fresh, well seasoned meat with perfectly proportioned extras for no extra price. Topped with grilled onions and jalapeños. Got fries and tots and washed down with a local IPA. We also had the Buffalo Grilled Cheese that had the right amount of spicy sauce and good fried chicken too. BLT was huge. Fed a family of five (starving) people with drinks and beer for around $55. We left stuffed. If you're local or travel through or in the area make sure you eat here, and say hi to Alex. Save a little room because there's an ice cream shop next door. The two meat-eaters thought their sandwiches (a Black and Blue burger and the Jonesie) were full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The mostly-vegetarian really enjoyed their Beyond burger with custom toppings, and the hyper-vegetarian had a small portion of that (no shade on Blazes, but the "impossible" burgers are just too meat-like for her) and a good-sized salad with delicious fries/tots. Pick your fresh toppings - mine was peppers, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. He cuts his own fries, which are to die for. So get the best burger & fries around for less than what you'd pay at McDonald's. This business clearly supports Westbrook, the walls are literally lined with photos of kids sports teams. Caution! You will fall in love. I went in with my husband for lunch today and he got a cheeseburger with tater tots and I got a veggie burger with fries. Yum! There is simply nothing fancy about this place. It is just dang good food. The burgers were served on fresh rolls and exactly to our liking. The tater tot's or excellence with the perfect amount of crisp and the fries were Hancock perfection. My only advice would be that they got vinegar but I found out after I finish that they actually had some inside. We sat outside at one of the three tables on the little deck it was perfect!
