I've never had Nigerian food before, but when I say it's close to soul food that I grew up eating (my grandma is from Louisiana) I'm not lying. I'm loving the flavors and hearty-ness of these dishes. My fave dishes were... EVERYTHING! The crawfish and shrimp queso was the best queso I've ever had in my entire life. The collard greens and baked mac & cheese were just like my mama made it. Also do you SEE that whole crab claw I pulled out of the gumbo??

Great service and vibe, we happened to eat here on their first karaoke night, the hostess was super fun! The food was pretty good. The red beans and rice was very flavorful, meat was tender and delicious. The candied yams were just the right amount of sweet. The house salad was fresh and had good toppings, but it was disappointing that the only dressing they had was ranch. My husband had the Egusi Stew with goat. The flavor of the stew was amazing, however the goat was not tender (not cooked long enough?) and was very rubbery/chewy. He also had the boudin balls which had good flavor, but were very smooth inside more like a meatball rather than boudin texture. Overall very unique offering in Norman and we will definitely be back!

Chicken and sausage gumbo and cornbread

A new favorite for us! We got the cornbread as an appetizer/side, and the Shrimp Étouffée and the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo for mains. Everything was hot and flavorful! Our waiter, Stevie, was super nice and helpful and made some delicious drinks. The overall vibe was inviting. We loved the dish and drinkware but the music was a touch too loud. Lastly, we wanted to try the peppered goat but they were out. Our waiter said they get their goat delivered from a local farm, which is great to know. We'll definitely come back to try it and the more Nigerian side of the menu!

Even the Mild is spicy and the Lemon Herb (bottom of the spice level) has a kick to it. To be clear, I have zero tolerance for spice, so when other reviews say there is no spice in the Lemon Herb, they are probably used to spice on the daily.... Is this place Portuguese or African? I'm not sure! All I know is that this African Bird's Eye Chili spice is the real deal. I got the Lemon Herb Chicken Rice Bowl. It doesn't come with any vegetables, so it's pretty plain. You can order steamed vegetables, but that is mostly carrots and green beans. Hubs got the half chicken with mild and lemon herb. He is more used to spice and he was downing his water. It is packed with flavor with a punch, just not somewhere I would come regularly. The prices were on the higher side for what you get as well. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and patient with us as we were newbies. Easy parking.

The food is very tasty. I ordered the quarter chicken, "hot" spicy level. It was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised with the full bowl of perfectly steamed green beans, carrots and a couple other vegetables. The spice garlic sauce is an excellent touch for those. My husband had the chicken wrap with rice and he enjoyed that.

The food was delicious I got the beef suya sticks and the coconut jollof rice, my partner got the beef sandwich and the dodo (plantains). We were both really pleased with the food and we will definitely be back. The only reason for the 4-star rating versus 5 is the fact that they had one person working the entire store during a lunch hour. It wasn't super busy but the food took a long time to come out because the gentleman behind the counter kept stopping to help people at the register. I get the strain to find good staff but having only one person seems counter productive when you're trying to push food out to customers.

Might be new location working out the kinks, but after this visit I prefer the collective location…read more This Penn square shop was slow and the food was just ok. I had the Beef Suya sandwich with dodo ($13). The sandwich was good but the Bell Peppers and Onion were just big chunks and barely cooked. Maybe that's traditional so I'm not knocking them for that. The Beef was great. Edie's dressing had a nice flavor. My big issue was the plantains were frozen and just dropped into the deep fryer, so they were served in a pool of grease and total mush. Plus I'm pretty sure they were bananas due to the sweetness and texture. It was disappointing but maybe it was an off day.
