Blended Love restaurant is a new spot in Norman. We took my youngest and she loved the bake Mac and Cheese it was full of rich flavor and great seasoning. Every dish was comforting, hearty, and cooked with care. A delicious experience that really brings culture and flavor together. Service: Six of us had reservations for 7 p.m. We arrived just a few minutes early and thought we'd be seated quickly, as there were a number of empty tables. We learned that there would be karaoke beginning at 8 p.m., so we asked to be seated as far away from the stage as possible, as we wanted to be able to talk. Despite the empty tables, it took 10 minutes before they were ready to seat us - it seemed that there were only two people working, and they were still setting up tables, so we were told to wait. After we were seated, we were given menus and water. A few minutes later, the server asked for drink orders. Three of us ordered alcoholic beverages; the rest of us chose water. The server disappeared. About 30 minutes later, one of my friends and I began trying to attract our server because we were ready to order (and had been ready for quite awhile!). They were busy clearing another table. We finally got their attention and, after they took the dishes from the other table back for washing, we were able to begin ordering. Food: They were out of all the Creole soups, including the Creole Seafood Gumbo, which my husband wanted. They were out of Aye-mashe, which one of our friends wanted. They were out of potato salad, which was listed as a side for one of the specials. After much reading and re-reading the menus (including the specials page), we all finally placed orders that were acceptable to the server. My husband and I ordered the egusi stew, the shrimp and crawfish etoufee, and the crawfish and shrimp queso, which was advertised as an appetizer. One of our friends had the smothered pork chop. The others had some of the specials. All the food came out together, including the appetizers; these should have been served _before_ the entrees. The egusi stew was so salty that I really couldn't taste anything but salt; my husband took one bite and didn't want any more. The chicken drum legs that came with it were large but undercooked; they were bloody in the middle next to the bone, which is dangerous. My husband said his etoufee was also too salty. The queso wasn't as salty, thank goodness. However, our companions all said that their meals were too salty, too. The portions are generous, and we brought home leftovers. I plan to cook some potatoes to add to the egusi stew in hopes they'll absorb some of the excess salt. I would love to know what the main ingredient in the egusi stew actually tastes like! Note to the owners: many people cannot tolerate so much salt. Some of us have been advised to reduce our salt intake by our doctors. It is better to use _less_ salt and allow people to salt to their own taste. Ambiance: We were really hoping to love this place. Unfortunately, we didn't come away with the best impression. Karaoke started at 8 p.m. with very loud music - it was so loud that we had to yell at each other to continue our conversations - and we could only hear the person nearest us. We couldn't hear anyone at the other end of the table at all. One of our party wears hearing aids, and she had to turn them down because the music was so loud. Then she couldn't participate in conversations because she couldn't hear what was being said. On the other hand, the seating is the most comfortable of any restaurant I've ever been in! I mentioned it to my husband, and he said, "I didn't notice." I pointed out that he didn't notice _because_ the seats were so comfortable that he didn't start hurting - which he and I both often do! In sum: We all agreed that we will probably try them again someday to give them a second chance, but NOT on a Friday! The place is much too small for the volume at which they were playing the music. It was simply not conducive to a pleasant dining experience - in fact, it was actually quite stressful! Our need to leave was such that I did not order the after-dinner drink I had considered having as "dessert" at the beginning of our meal. We hope that other days are more comfortable. We will also request less salt in our food, which we hope is possible. read more

Great service and vibe, we happened to eat here on their first karaoke night, the hostess was super fun! The food was pretty good. The red beans and rice was very flavorful, meat was tender and delicious. The candied yams were just the right amount of sweet. The house salad was fresh and had good toppings, but it was disappointing that the only dressing they had was ranch. My husband had the Egusi Stew with goat. The flavor of the stew was amazing, however the goat was not tender (not cooked long enough?) and was very rubbery/chewy. He also had the boudin balls which had good flavor, but were very smooth inside more like a meatball rather than boudin texture. Overall very unique offering in Norman and we will definitely be back! read more

I've never had Nigerian food before, but when I say it's close to soul food that I grew up eating (my grandma is from Louisiana) I'm not lying. I'm loving the flavors and hearty-ness of these dishes. My fave dishes were... EVERYTHING! The crawfish and shrimp queso was the best queso I've ever had in my entire life. The collard greens and baked mac & cheese were just like my mama made it. A new favorite for us! We got the cornbread as an appetizer/side, and the Shrimp Étouffée and the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo for mains. Everything was hot and flavorful! Our waiter, Stevie, was super nice and helpful and made some delicious drinks. The overall vibe was inviting. We loved the dish and drinkware but the music was a touch too loud. Lastly, we wanted to try the peppered goat but they were out. Our waiter said they get their goat delivered from a local farm, which is great to know. We'll definitely come back to try it and the more Nigerian side of the menu! read more

I was looking to try something new for lunch and found this place. The hostess was very pleasant and sweet. They have traditional creole New Orleans dishes and Nigerian African dishes. The waitress was really helpful explaining the dishes and spicy levels. I am a wuss in the spicy world. I had the meat pies and jambalaya and it was amazing. The meat pies came with a side of their red stew which was a bit spicy but one of those it's so good I can't stop eating it even though it's spicy. They have a lighted stage I assume is used for light live music maybe for dinner. The whole place seemed well run. read more

I've eaten at BL three times in the last couple of weeks. Consistently, the food is excellent. Also consistently, there's a lengthy wait, not to be seated, but to get your food. I swear, every dish is made with love. When I go, it's with people I enjoy so there's no awkward wait. Oh, and order an appetizer, like the crawfish queso - that helps too. We wanted to eat at home so we used DoorDash to order our food. We were not able to get everything we ordered, which was disappointing. The food we did get was delicious! Having spent quite a bit of time in Louisiana, I've eaten Cajun and Creole dishes. I have placed another DoorDash order for brunch tomorrow. I'll do another review about it. read more
