If a customer is made to feel uncomfortable by sales associate for simply shopping, that is an issue. And giving a description of a person because you didn't catch their name is a very common thing. I didn't say she wasn't a good person. I simply shared my experience of how uncomfortable I was made to feel. It's sad that management or an owner wouldn't take a potential customers experience as valid. I felt what I felt. Not the place for online sales. I recommend going though a department store - Nordstroms. The moment I called in and got an okay for my return they ended up exchanging my order and resending it to me. When I called back the customer service was terrible. I've never experienced such terrible customer service through a website. The manager had the audacity to imply that I was lying - telling me I didn't talk to someone prior to informing them of the return. Or that this person hadn't called me back. So there you have it, Bleu doesn't accept returns. In fact they'll try to lead you to believe they are doing you a favor. Never again will I shop with, Bleu. What outrageous service. read more

Ok, may I first start with a little rant. I hate the word Bleu. It's like Blue but misspelled and that really annoys me for some reason. I wouldn't spell Glue Gleu, that would just be stupid. Ok, rant over. Sorry. ***Above rant has nothing to do with my review of this boutique. All righty, where shall I begin? The clothing racks are stuffed full of silky cocktail dresses, trendy blouses, playful prints, and colorful choices for your next party, dress up dinner, semi formal gala event... it's "People Magazines Style Issue" no doubt about it. I can imagine the frocks in this shop being worn by the actresses in the gossip glossies not only because they're trendy and fun but because the prices are kind of astronomical for what you're actually purchasing. Call me thrifty, but I can't fathom paying over $300 for a trendy cocktail dress. A classic vintage dress a couple doors down at "The Way We Wore", yes. A silk feel poly blend ruffle dress...not so much. But maybe I'm a little biased, I do love vintage afterall. While they do carry name brand labels, I'm just not a labels kind of gal. A friend of mine commented that the store has too much inventory to warrant the price tags. At first I was confused, then I thought of Forever 21 and how jam packed the store is but how bank friendly the prices are. Now, don't get me wrong, the quality at Bleu is much much better than Forever 21, but still, there's a bit of truth in what my wise friend says. Ok, I'm sounding a little negative, I do like Bleu. The girls that work here are friendly and chatty and really want to help you find that perfect little number. Their selection is always on trend for women between the ages of 16-28 (in my opinion, please don't hate me if you're older/younger and shop here!) I adore the beautiful clothes in this store, but I am too terrified to ever go in! I came in once and was so harassed by the over zealous sales girls that I actually had to tell them to go away and leave me alone after three of them stood outside my dressing room and asked me to come out and show them every item I was trying on. After forcing them to go about their own business and letting me try on in peace, I actually bought an amazing Mason dress that I have literally worn to shreds, and every time I drive by and look at the beautiful things in the window, I want to go in so bad, but I am so frightened of them!! I recommend Bleu if you like the attention of a group of shopgirls all hailing from the Jessica Simpson school of beauty who will be your shadow from the moment you enter the store until they have that platinum card in their acrylic-nailed hands. A friend introduced me to Bleu and I really enjoy shopping here. It IS a splurge to do so, but it's quite worthwhile. Bleu carries the kinds of pieces that if I fell in love seeing them on someone out on a Saturday night, I wouldn't begin to know where to look for them. So it's really convenient that the shop is small compared to a department store and that the ladies who work there are helpful in picking things out that go with your taste and that they also think will flatter your figure. Bleu carries both designers that you know already and local LA designers that as a New Yorker, I know nothing about. And I DO appreciate that they pull garments for you to try. This is great because when you're looking through the racks you have no idea how something fits (the sales girls do) and you might miss a really flattering cut, and because they get me trying new things that are a bit outside of what might normally catch my eye. If your style is feeling a little too repetitive -- this is a huge help and leads to fantastic discoveries! If you are on the shyer side, you may not be comfortable with it. My recommendation would be to simply let them know and also, don't take it personally as though someone is trying to push a sale. They're just outgoing friendly people giving real customer service. This is how shops used to be! It's also considered the VIP treatment -- it's what you pay for at a Neiman's or Saks! I feel like a local whenever I visit Bleu. Gabrielle has an amazing memory and remembers people's tastes, even though I've only met her twice now, she remembered my style the second time I entered the store. She's a high energy person who could probably get 10 things done at the same time. And she has fantastic taste in clothing! I think the reviews here more reflect people who might be on the shyer, more quiet side and mistake the vivaciousness of Bleu's staff and their style of customer service (which doesn't exist anymore unless you're willing to pay for VIP status elsewhere), as something other than what it is. I love clothing. Sometimes when I'm having a particularly boring meeting, I sit and fantasize about what I'm going to wear or what that perfect shirt would look like. Despite my love of clothes however, I hate to shop. Its just so taxing and annoying. I hate the whole process. Except at Bleu. There's something about this store. They have something for everyone. The clothes are jammed into the racks and are generally organized by color. There's so much selection that it helps to ask the salesgirls if you know what it is you're looking for. If you don't know, its cool to just browse the racks. The store is definitely informed by the sensibilities of the owner who's named Gabby. She's super sweet, like that friend we all wish we had who knows all the good stores and hottest clubs, the one you go to when you need advice about what to wear on that fabulous first date. The store has lots of pretty dressy clothes. Gabby is definitely someone who likes going out. Maybe the reason I don't mind shopping here is because of the smallest salesman there. Not only do they always have an impressive selection of beautiful clothes from hard-to-find lines (Christopher Deane, Mimi Turner, the Philip Lim goodies that are always instantly sold out), they actually make shopping a good experience! The sales personnel are helpful - like personal stylists - who make wonderful suggestions and hunt down your sizes. Miraculously, they accomplish this without being pushy or pressuring you. I agree with the other Yelpers that this is a place to go when you have an event to shop for (birthday, wedding, big night out). The clothing here is expensive but also special and beautiful - it isn't where I'd go for everyday duds. First thing that hits my nose is a barrage of incense that resemble weed. No joke. I guess that might contribute how chill the front desk chick was, she wasn't too pushy when I walked in and resumed whatever she was doing. A lady called to check the store's inventory and the girl surprising got up and actually tried to look for the item the customer was requesting and even offered to place it on hold. The prices are steep but it's a boutique so I can't really expect them to be too affordable. One thing that did scare the living hell out of me was a greyhound on the couch near the entrance. I didn't notice the poor thing til I made a complete round of the store and was about to leave. It's right eye looked as if it was gashed out and it was all swollen. I LOVE this boutique! They never fail to deliver when I need cocktail dresses for the oh so many events that LA has to offer. Yes, it can be expensive but isn't it worth it when you want to look your best! They also carry Phillip Lim here, which is a huge plus in my book. This is my favorite boutique in LA! I have shopped here for several years (and now come back whenever I'm back in town after moving to San Francisco) and always walk out with a unique outfit that would have taken me months to find on my own otherwise. Yes it's a little pricy but that's what the brands they carry cost--since you will wear that dress 10 times without it falling apart it's well worth it! Here's the thing, I adore boutiques and would love to choose them over department stores any day. I am a big fan of small business owners so even if an item is marked up a few bucks I'll support them. However, the thing I find in LA is that department stores offer a much more comfortable atmosphere than boutiques in this city. Where I come from, it is the other way around. Bleu is cute, not too crammed and has a decent layout. I do agree the sales associates are too in your face. They sit outside the dressing room, bringing new items one after the other, which can be great, depending on what you're shopping for. I explained that I was looking for a dress for a black tie event for work. More than half of the dresses she kept bringing were not the least bit appropriate for a cocktail party, let alone black tie. The one dress I went gaga for didn't fit and they made no effort to try to get it in another size. I could tell they wanted a purchase right then and there or nothing at all. Also, the owner wasn't the least bit friendly. There was only one other customer present and she didn't speak to either of us even though she was sitting right in front of us the whole time. Every time I came out of the dressing room to show my sales girl the dress the owner would look me up and down, not make eye contact mind you, and look away. This always amazes me how store owners act as if you are wasting their time because they already seem to know you're not going to buy. I mean, so many people who have money don't feel the need to flaunt it, and just because someone doesn't purchase that day doesn't mean they won't the next. I totally fell in love with a blazer they had, but I left it there, went home and purchased it on-line from elsewhere. I hated paying shipping for it when I knew it was literally sitting two blocks away - but I did so simply because I did not want to give Bleu the sale. Customers keep small businesses in business - the owner really might want to remember that. Oh, and to top it off as they are trying their hardest to convince me a dress looks amazing on me, which it does not, they then tell me I can bring it back in 7 days for store credit only! I understand to an extent, but I think only being given 7 days AND not returning your money is just ridiculous. One or the other would be much more reasonable customer friendly. I mean, when I buy a nice dress I am of course hoping it will work, once I put the shoes, bag, jewelry all together - but you never know! I started my afternoon at Republic (which is right down the street, FYI!), and stumbled upon this store, Bleu Clothing! I am a lover of fashion and anything clothing related so this store really fit my needs. Not only do they carry items that Nordstroms and Bloomingdales have yet to carry, they have the best stylists working there to help cater to your needs. The girls have such a great sense of style in which they found me items I would of never have thought to pick out - that I now wear constantly. It's always great to have an outside view of what would look really good on you. What's also a perk, they will also hand you heels so you can see what those special dresses look with a pair of heels - without having to stand on your tippy toes in the dressing room (come on girls, we all know we do it). I have mixed feelings about Bleu. The customer service can be absolutely great if you appreciate the ladies in the store making suggestions for things you can try on, or absolutely maddening if you just want to be left alone. they have gorgeous pieces and they are all very good at styling. but a personal peeve of mine is that I am a size 10 and it seems they usually stop at 8. i've bought a few 'blousy 8s' there over the years, but i cant help but find it sort of obnoxious that they cater to such a narrow (pun intended) market. so why would i go to Bleu for that Elizabeth and James blazer when I know for sure Saks will carry it in my size? and lastly, they call you. i am extremely not a fan of this. i have been removed from the list but man, that feels like an aggressive move. read more

Not only does this La Brea Boutique have the most fabulous clothes, but the sales staff is bar none the BEST in the city! The "Bleu Crew" makes sure you leave loving every item you've purchased, and I've found that the outfits they've picked out for me are my default "go to" pieces for when I know I need to feel and look fabulous. This isn't a store-- it's a boutique, and Bleu knows it's well-dressed customers are its best advertising. It's like having a personal stylist "free with purchase." I have three daughters, Alexandra, Hilary and Chloe. We all shop at Bleu and have for many years. We find the clothing selections are impossible to beat.. our "go to" store for any occasion. But, the service is impeccable. Gabby and her employees go out of their way to find the perfect dress or outfit. They are very quick at figuring out which clothes might suit you or the event best. They knock them selves out to please. We are all spoiled by their attention. They know their clients and their merchandise and can always make a match. Had a terrible incident at this store! I bought a shirt and, when I took it home, discovered a stain on it. I took it back and asked to get my money back. The owner of the store insisted instead she send it to the dry cleaner to get the stain out. I acquiesced, came back to pick it up and -- the stain was still there. The owner STILL would not let me get a refund and suggested I exchange it for another item in the store saying "the owner loves money". It was so tacky and awful! I have never returned and these idiots still leave messages to tell me to check out their new items. Please leave me alone! read more

This boutique has a pretty good selection of dresses and silky tops. The prices are what you would find for the designers anywhere else. Unless you luck out at some sale somewhere. I would come here more often if it weren't for the pushy sales girls. Don't get me wrong, they are friendly as hell. You just can't spend a second alone in the dressing room without them asking you how it's going and " I pulled this, isn't this cute?" So you are constantly opening the curtain half naked to look at some dress they pulled, that you already looked at and decided no against. It's not a huge store, I walked around for 15 minutes looking at everything, so if I didn't pull it, it probably means I don't want to try it on. I quickly got dressed and left. I have been shopping at Bleu for years now and I would not be going back if it were not such a special place! I have bought clothing for myself size 10-12 and my daughter size 2-4 that have been both stylish, one of a kind and awesome.Im a professional with a taxing job,, my daughter is a 20 something who is built like a model and we both find exactly what we love and need- cute clothes that last, fit and are beautiful. They carry a variety of sizes and styles. I find the inventory to run the gambit, I always find one of a kind pieces that are fantastic and of the highest quality. The sales people are friendly and sooo knowledgeable and helpful, I have come to feel like they are family. Several of my friends are now loyal Bleu customers now also. Love, love, love the store. I had one issue over the last 10 years with a piece of jewelry which was dealt with quickly and totally to my satisfaction. All the greatest pieces in my and my daughters closet come from Bleu!!!
