The cucumber drink was refreshing while the Orange Pablo reminded me of another drink I could not place but was still really good. Food: They have bread service! We were going to ask but the service asked if we wanted it. The butter was flavored and delicious. The bread was unique. A little more thick and dry for me but still good. We ordered the Brussels sprouts for an app - it was amazing! Highly recommended. For entrees, we got the Ahi Tuna and Duck. The portion sizes were so great and the food was honestly top tier. I went to lunch here recently and had a lovely time. The restaurant has an upscale but welcoming vibe. The host who greeted us was so friendly. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were really tasty and had a nice kick to them. I also loved the sweet potato fries. I also HIGHLY recommend the pesto butter they serve with the bread. It was some of the best flavored butter I've had. I'm still thinking about it The lunch menu had a ton of options, including lots of different price points. It's nice to have a place that has options for people with different budgets - here most people can find something that would work. Makes this a good place to go with a group. I have been to Bleu a few times now and have had a good experience each time. The service is great - the hosts and servers are always so pleasant, however sometimes the wait times can be a bit long - not sure if they are short staffed or just an off night or two but did find that if we were not ready to order right away we might be waiting a bit before the server would return. The last time I had been to Bleu I hadn't really been blown away by any of the food, but I will say their shrimp and grits I had this most recent time was fantastic!! The restaurant was also adorably decorated for the holidays which added a nice ambiance. However, I do have a somewhat sensitive nose and I will say the restaurant itself smelled a bit like strong cleaning products and I didn't find that totally enjoyable. I came here with a group of work colleagues for dinner on a Monday night since we had out of town guests visiting my workplace. We initially had a reservation for 6pm but called and requested to move the reservation to 5:15pm because we finished our workplace meetings earlier than anticipated. Bleu was very accommodating and able to adjust the reservation for our group of 10. They had a table set up and ready for us in a side room off the main dining area. As our party began arriving, they were brought to the table and drinks were promptly offered. There were menus on the table. The menu is pretty diverse and includes a lot of seafood items. I am not a seafood fan but they had a nice selection of other options that appealed to me. Our initial group ordered a myriad of appetizers while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive. Once everyone had arrived and had a chance to review the menu, we placed our orders. A few in the group ordered salads or soup which were brought out before the main entrees. I heard several positive comments about their soups. Our meals arrived a short while later in small groups until the table was fully delivered. Everyone was oohing and aahing about the entree's. I ordered their smoked bacon and pimento cheese burger and it looked amazing. I thought the burger tasted delicious and the pimento cheese on top was perfect. I was thankful to see the pimento cheese was not just a mixture of shredded cheese and mayonnaise, I had a bad experience at a restaurant in Asheville, and I am somewhat apprehensive to order pimento cheese because of that experience. The pimento cheese was well mixed and prepared like it should be on top of the burger. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was perfect with refills anticipated by our server. We were by Hanes Mall and got hungry. After leaving Academy, we drove right by Blue. We remembered how we had driven by it a 100 times and always said we would try it. The hostess kindly greeted us and asked if we had a reservation. We did not. She immediately sat us anyway. Note-definitely make a reservation if you can! The place gets very busy! Our waitress was phenomenal! She suggested my Man's meal and he LOVED it! We started with the Hot Crab Dip with plenty of warm baguettes! It was full of crab and stayed hot the entire time we enjoyed it! He ordered (by her recommendation) the Fried Dill Pickle Marinated Chicken Breast. This has just the right amount of pickle flavor. Super GOOD! I have to note that the greens reminded him of how Grandma makes greens! Oh, and I wanted to steal his potatoes! I do not know how they made them, but they were extra delicious!!! I could swing by and just have a bowl of those potatoes for lunch! I ordered the Lobster Ravioli! We picked Blue because they serve Lobster Ravioli! This dish sticks to your ribs! A perfect meal on a chilly North Carolina night. Our perfect waitress brought me some bread for dipping! That really made the meal extra hearty! You must ask for the bread! This place hides! The grilled salmon was perfectly cooked! Crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside. Lightly seasoned with a very smooth lemon and herb sauce; it had a fresh, clean flavor that was wonderful. Paired with a side of grilled veggies, it was a simple yet satisfying dish done right. The service was great and it was very laid back for lunch which I enjoyed so you can take a hour or so to just chill out for a few. I like Bleu and eat there once or twice a month. Tonight, however, a friend and I both ordered the same entree - $24 each on the menu. The bill was $26 each. When I asked the wait staff, the response was that the menu was "behind". I was refunded $4 in cash (but still paid tax on the $4 higher charge). On my way out, I mentioned this to a friend who was finishing up dinner, and he said that he had run into this recently -- charging higher costs than the menu reflects. FYI -- not right. read more

This is another place I've had on my bucket list for awhile now. I am always intrigued by a restaurant that has a large percentage of Elite reviews that are positive, and this upscale place certainly has that. It's located across from Village Tavern and getting there the first time takes some twists and turns. The interior is well done, attractive, softly lit, with a huge vase dominating part of the central area - other flowers and decorations abound! The lunch menu, while nice, is not nearly as broad and interesting as the dinner one - no duck or lamb, only steak was a sirloin, for instance! I ordered She Crab Soup, and Grilled Salmon with lemon butter, Mashed Potatoes, and Mixed Vegetables. The soup was on the table quickly, rich and creamy, the nice flavor enhanced by some dry sherry from the bar! There was a decent amount of jumbo crab meat. The salmon soon arrived, beautifully plated, perfectly cooked to order, with a nice outside crust adding to both the appearance and the flavor. The potatoes were made from scratch, very smooth, incredibly flavorful. The Mixed Vegetables - green beans (haricot verts style), julienned carrots, sliced summer squash, and a bit of broccoli - were very nicely grilled, enhancing the flavorful and preserving the fresh texture. This was a very, very good lunch meal, and the service was its equal. This place can hold its own with the neighboring Village Tavern, in all respects, at least as a lunch spot - actually a little more relaxed and comfortable - of course it was an early lunch - which I consistently find to be the best kind! Underrated and often overlooked is Bleu restaurant. I would give them a solid 4.5 if Yelp allowed half stars as I feel like 4 is too low but 5 should be reserved for the absolute best places. The food at Bleu is consistent and flavorful. Everything I've ever ordered there has come out of the kitchen hot and fresh, and the service is always very good. I would love to see them change up the menu a bit and get a little more creative with their dishes but you really can't go wrong with their menu so I guess if it isn't broke, don't fix it. On this visit I ordered my salmon medium and it had the most delicious "crust" on the exterior while the interior was cooked to medium and not dried out. I was brought me here for my birthday dinner and it was a great experience. We had reservations and were promptly sat. We ordered a couple of drinks and the crispy calamari appetizer. The calamari was lightly fried and the perfect texture. I had one of the BEST wedge salads I've ever had, the preserved tomatoes on this dish really made it pop! I had the Angus Ribeye, which could have done with some finishing salt but was cooked a perfect medium rare. Finished the meal with a crème brûlée dessert; the restaurant had to add a little more brûlée to my crème but they did it with no problem! Overall a great experience and a wonderful atmosphere. Lunch today was pretty close to perfect. I went with a group of 5 friends and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the basil stir fry and a side salad and it was delicious! The sauce was spicy and full of flavor. My friends had an assortment of things- oysters, shrimp and crab cakes, ahi tuna and the salmon entree. All were good and presented beautifully. Service was great and the pacing was right for a long lunch. I asked for the music to be turned down because some of the members of our party had trouble hearing and the GM actually turned it off and it left the dining room comfortable for conversation with the low murmur of other guests enjoying their own company. Stopped by here during road trip, what a pleasant find! The atmosphere felt very classic & upscale, presentation of the food was excellent and all the food tasted amazing. The service was great-we were here for a quick stop during a long drive, so both my boyfriend and I were in casual attires, didn't order any drinks and asked to split an entree because we were not that hungry. But the service and the host were so friendly. Our server even split the entree for us so we could have our own plates. The smoke flavor on the wings was good but the fatty skin and the really gooey sauce lost me. The Brussels were average. I ordered the beer and goat cheese salad. I had to ask for more of the dressing since the drizzle was barely there. The salad has the potential to be good but this was barely average. My husband ordered the Cajun pasta and had to send it back because the chicken was over cooked. The second go round was crazy spicy but the chicken was better. Went with a large party to celebrate our elopement, we waited for our food for over an hour and a half. We were sat next to another party who was screaming the entire dinner and we were unable to even hear those sitting next to us. I visited here on 10/30/21 around 1:50pm with my son. I found this place via Groupon and decided to give it a try! We were sat promptly by host. There were not many people inside as i noticed maybe 3 other tables with people. For drinks, we got tea and lemonade; both sweet and delicious! We weren't ready to order when we got our drinks but when we were a couple minutes later, our waitress was no where to be found. We waited 10 minutes after being ready until she came back (2:13pm). We got the hot crab dip as an appetizer. I got shrimp and grits while my son got Buffalo chicken sandwich. We received complimentary bread about 13 minutes later (2:26pm) and then received the crab dip a minute later. The crab dip was hot and the bread that accompanied the crap dip was delicious and flavorful versus the complimentary bread. My son didn't like the oil and pesto mixture that came with the complimentary bread. The waitress stated that she didn't like it plain and typically adds seasoning. She told my son she would make it the way she likes it for him to try and he agreed. The new complimentary oil and pesto mixture was great delicious and well seasoned. My son like it and actually told waitress it was delicious. Our food came at 2:35pm. My son liked his food. For me, the shrimp and grits wasn't nasty but it just wasn't what I was expecting; it was sort of a let down honestly. Nonetheless, I ate it. When my son was in the bathroom, someone came and took kids my sons fries and the dip without asking if we were done with it or not... Overall, the staff were friendly but not as attentive as they should've when it wasn't busy. Additionally, I didn't like they assumed we were done with our items when we weren't. This is my first experience dining at this restaurant. They have been on my radar for quite a while. Honestly, they have been on Groupon for a while so I have been tempted to purchase one. When my dad suggested we go here for dinner, I was very excited! My first drawl was seeing the crème brûlée on the menu. One of my favorite desserts! The ambience was very inviting and great for a family dinner. My daughter ordered the filet which she allowed me to have one bite of. It was amazing! I cannot say enough about this restaurant. The general manager, Sam Strong, was extremely helpful and accommodating for a surprise birthday dinner I planned. Not only did they work with our party size, but they waived the fee for cutting the cake, and were extremely attentive. The food at Bleu is consistently good--I've eaten there several times over the years and never had a complaint. On the flip side, cocktails are consistently bad. If you stick with beer or wine, you should be fine. I ate at the bar recently on a Saturday night and ordered a lemon drop martini. It was so bad, I had to ask the bartender to fix it. It was better, but definitely not worth $13, and it was very small--not the normal size. This has been my experience every time I've ordered a cocktail at Bleu and it's been this way for several years. I've finally learned my lesson about ordering drinks there. When I first arrived at the restaurant, the hostess told me they were booked up. I had to ask about bar seating and found there were a few seats open in addition to several tables in the bar. I guess if I hadn't asked, she would have turned me away. Sitting at the bar was not very pleasurable either. The bartender was not friendly at all. She worked hard and the restaurant should have given her more help on a Saturday night, but my meal was $80 before the tip so I expected better. read more
