We booked a celebratory lunch after the Wake Forest graduation for two college graduates--my daughter and her friend--and one high school graduate, my son. I mentioned this special occasion to both the hostess and our waitress when we arrived. The restaurant was not overly crowded, and there was no wait for tables, yet it took 20 minutes for anyone to take our drink order. After waiting an hour and a half, we finally asked if we could at least have bread or something while we waited. We were told our meals would be out in "five more minutes" and that the restaurant was completely out of chicken--at Rooster's, ironically--except for wings. In total, it took more than two hours for our food to arrive. Half the meals came out cold, and my son's BBQ wings had no BBQ sauce on them. We were extremely hungry at that point, so we ate what we could. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of communication or acknowledgment from management. Despite checking several times with both the hostess and waitress, no manager ever came to apologize or update us. Nothing was removed from the bill, nor was any gesture made to recognize the situation. We still tipped our waitress generously because we understood the circumstances were likely difficult for her as well. As we were leaving, I spoke with the manager, who explained that two kitchen staff members had been fired and she had been working the line herself. After hearing our experience, she asked for my email address and said she would follow up, but I never heard anything afterward. I was not expecting a free meal or anything excessive--just some acknowledgment and effort to make things right. Unfortunately, Rooster's failed us in every possible way and turned what should have been a joyful celebration for three deserving graduates and their families into a very disappointing experience. read more

I've heard great things about Rooster's from my friends in the area, so I was very excited to finally give it a try! My sister and I went for a little girls night out, and we had the best time! The ambience and service were great. Our waitress was so friendly, and she kept the experience very fun and light. The food was pretty good! We really enjoyed the pimento cheese appetizer, the salmon, the truffle fries, and the coconut cake. The fried oyster salad was just okay - not our favorite. It didn't have much flavor, and the fried oysters didn't bring as much to the meal as I'd hoped. Overall though, very tasty! The next time I come back, I think I'll get a main entree with multiple sides - that seemed like the way to go for eating at Rooster's. read more

Phenomenal crab cakes! Had lunch here and the service was amazing. One in my party complained about her soda being flat and the person on service didn't miss a beat and handled it like a very concerned professional! The pizza was underwhelming, but the apps and desserts shined! We started with the fried oysters - these were delicious - and some pimento cheese... also delicious. I did find the pizza to be boring and lacking in flavor. Crab cakes were good but not very filling. The star of the show for me - both in presentation and taste - was the coconut cake! Versatile and cute spot for working lunches/dinners, date night, or drinks with the girls!! Would do it again but skip the 'za! read more

Recently celebrated my wife's birthday at Rooster's with 7 people and an infant and had a perfect experience! I unfortunately do not remember our waitresses name, but she and all of the others who helped her were excellent. Decent wine selection and a couple people ordered cocktails that they enjoyed. For my meal I had the NC Trout which was fantastic, and really enjoyed the apple and fennel salad that came with it even though I was a little unsure about whether I would be a fan. I tried a few other dishes and they were all very good. The fried oysters, steak, grits, spinach, however the start of the show for the entire table.... the mashed sweet potatoes! We did not expect them to be the stand out, but out waitress suggested them and she nailed it! Smooth, creamy, flavorful, they were absolutely the best I have had! Overall a great experience, and a nice vibe in the restaurant during the holiday with the some light decorations. I do not always think about Rooster's but I need to remember to keep it on my list more often! read more

Our first visit for lunch. Concerned about parking due to location in between 2 office buildings but it wasn't a problem. They have a farm to table menu with local vendors and fresh options. My friend ordered to Arugula Salad & added grilled salmon (it was delicious!) & I ordered the Quinoa Bowl w/rotisserie chicken & fresh fall veggies w/a dash of pesto (hot & cooked perfectly)! I added on a cup of their tomato basil soup & I must say not only was it served hot but the added goat cheese gave it to creamiest flavor, one of the best I have had! They had a lovely dessert menu but we declined. We agreed we would return to try the dinner menu which had some additional items that looked interesting. Service was exceptional & friendly, no rush to move us along. 4 stars is only due to it being a bit pricey for lunch $34 inc. tip) but a beautiful spot with great menu! read more

I have been here on numerous occasions and the food is delicious, although a little pricey. This is not cafeteria fare. Service is friendly and professional, but not hovering. Ambiance is comfortable and inviting. Can be loud if restaurant is close to half full. Ceilings are quite high. Don't look for privacy, quaint or romantic. Have heard there is a separate room for groups. Very nice outdoor patio with seating for cocktails and dining. One of my favorite restaurants! read more

I went here for my birthday. Cheyenne was an amazing waitress. She was able to describe the food that was available in such a way that made me want everything. We were able to order appetizers and drinks which were amazing. Unfortunately, something happened with the kitchen and they were unable to continue service. We have eaten at roosters many times and the food has always been good. One of my favorite things has always been the crabcakes last week. I ordered a crabcake and it was totally different recipe. It had mashed potatoes in it and hardly any crabcake taste. I feel that was insulting. I will not order a crab cake at Roosters again and I will not recommend the restaurant because it is so overpriced now it used to be one of our favorite places for years. read more

The staff were impeccable and the burger was one of the best in the area. Our server ask if it was our first time there and went through the menu highlighting customer favorites and gave personal suggestion. Me and my partner had a reservation of Roosters. We had never been and we were looking for an elevated dining experience. We arrived for our reservation and were promptly seated. The restaurant is tucked into a cool shopping center off Stratford, but the strip mall feeling is hard to shake off. I did love the quality of the kitchen set up. Our server was far too comfortable with us, said he wanted to have a "conversation" about our order when we were ready, and he had a cough. He didn't explain the menu at all and REALLY wanted us to order wine. Every item is separate entrees, sides, appetizers, all priced as such. We received a small basket of flavorless hard crusted bread with plain olive oil to start. No salt, no prepared butter. I ordered the lamb and the fried okra as individual items, my partner ordered the salmon and Mac and cheese, also individual items. I've never been served okra with the stem still attached, nor have I been served okra so over ripe/over grown, so about a third of the dish was inedible and stringy. The fried coating was oily and wasn't even attached to the veggie, so you just got soggy stringy okra with a pile of fried coating on the bottom. Not worth the $14 or so dollars for just a side of okra. The lamb with verde salsa was good, not blown away for $36 and it took about 5 minutes for me to receive a steak knife to cut it and begin eating. My partner enjoyed his salmon, but was not up to the supposed standard for the price. His Mac and cheese was basically dry noodles in a white cheese, nothing exciting about it at all. That's a hard one to mess up, but here we are. $120 dollars later and we found ourselves wishing we had just cooked at home. read more

Food and service at this place is always great. This review is for the hostess and management. We had a reservation and were seated at the table nearest the door in a mostly empty restaurant. It was 40 degrees outside and the restaurant does have double entry doors with a vestibule. Every time someone entered/exited a cold air would blow in. We asked to close the door or be moved and were told they would not close the inner door and offered a table that was literally the slightly second closest to the door. We pressed again and were then told we could move slightly further in. We chose a table that would be slightly around a corner and were told we couldn't sit there. They then seated us at a table slightly further back but still in a straight line from the door letting in cold air. Then as soon as we were seated they sat another group of 4 at the table they denied us sitting at. We have absolutely no idea why they would seat people next to the front door in a mostly empty restaurant. read more

I truly loved my experience here! Amber was our waitress and she was amazing. Very knowledgeable, prompt, and personable. Service is half the experience in my opinion. She certainly held up her end!! I don't drink and the fact that they had mocktails was wonderful! It's not often that you find restaurants that have mocktail menus. I enjoyed my Hibiscus Spritzer. Very light and refreshing. Lastly, but most importantly, the food. I got the grilled bone in porkchop with potatoes au gratin and collards for my side. My hubby got the hangar steak asparagus and collards. Listen. All of the food was perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and served beautifully. But the potatoes au gratin were magical! I almost fought my husband because he wanted some! Lunch on a Wednesday at 12:30, the restaurant was not busy. It was 12:45 before we ordered and we got our food at 1:30. Two of our companions had to get back to work and ended up getting boxes for their lunch so they could leave. They were pleased with their turkey sandwiches. I ordered the grain bowl and the portion was adequate, flavor was good, and it contained very little chicken. Our fourth companion ordered a grilled cheese, which arrived cold. The side of the sandwich that was face up was nicely browned. The face down side was completely burned. She asked for a new sandwich and waited another 20 minutes for it. When it arrived, it was barely cooked and you could actually see unmelted butter still on the bread. Our service was very nice and accommodating, but service was very slow. I understand rising food costs (our lunch before tip was $100), but charging $3.50 for a glass of unsweetened tea is an absolute crime. read more
