I will not be returning to Blink Beauty. A week ago I went to BB to get my lashes lifted and tinted before I went on vacation. I usually do them myself since I don't generally spend on beauty treatments and they always end up looking like I curled them with a curler. My DIY lift generally last me about a month and a half. Now, it's been exactly a week since I got the L&L done at BB and you can barely tell my lashes are curled. Furthermore, after closer examination the lash tech missed a lot of the lashes on my outer lash line and those are still pointing straight down. I paid a total of $120 (including tip) and I have never had so many people tell me that I wasted my money. I am debating asking for a redo but I am really bad at speaking up for myself so I doubt I'll muster up the courage. I'm just gonna go back to DIYing them. read more

Thankfully Gloria was taking new clients because waxing was no longer a want situation; it was a NEED! Easy to find an appointment even though only one esthetician and one client is allowed in the intimate space at the same time. Sanitizer promptly displayed and Gloria was wearing a mask the entire time. She did my brows and Brazilian in a jiffy and the conversation was easy breezy. She's had this little spot on East 6th for longer than it looks like the building actually is so she's seen the neighborhood change and has some funny stories to regale you with in an effort to distract from the current paintiation (pain + situation). Of which was just minor since she's a pro. Brows were $20 and Brazilian was $50, which was on par with everywhere that isn't just a room in the back of a nail salon. read more

Horrible attitude.No respect for customers. I had booked through classpass for a 30 min service. First of all , they never told a first time customer that the parking situation is horrible. I was 5 mins late after literally searching for parking for 20 mins.(still I was late and I agree that) But I was told that service cannot be completed , do you want to reschedule(i felt fair enough and got it rescheduled.front desk person specifically mentioned that I would not be recharged) Now comes the horrible part.The manager calls from nowhere at work and tells that I need to pay the entire amount for the service again and says that she does not know how the classpass works(if you are on a platform , do your research before you talk to a costumer) She was semi-rude and said that she will cancel the appointment and i lost my money. I do want to follow up here. While the burns did get worse (and had a lot of swelling), they did eventually heal (no scarring!). The owner of Blink Beauty responded to my email and offered to give me some products they had to alleviate the burns and swelling (unfortunately I was home for Thanksgiving at this point). In addition, she refunded me for the original wax and offered to provide me with a complimentary service done by her. Given the amazing reviews they've had by others I'm hoping this is a one-off fluke and would like to try them again, especially provided the very generous and kind responses I received when I told them what has happened. read more

This place is the best place to get eyelash extensions in Austin. 1. They DO NOT COUNT lashes like many other places. 2. The prices are reasonable. I don't know about you but who wants to pay 400-500 for a full set of lashes? If you are spending that much you are getting ripped off. They have specials on full sets for $99 which is a GREAT deal. 3. The quality is perfection. I see Brooke and she never fails to do a great job time after time. Updating my review since I got two sessions done. This place is clean, great location, friendly staff, and perfect if you want any spa treatment done. I've gone here for lash extensions only but will prob do more. It's the type of business you want to support that is woman owned. The staff is SO NICE and welcoming. Ally/Allie? Who runs the front desk is such a joy when you first walk in. She immediately checks you in, knows your name, and asks if you want any water. Perfect customer service every time you walk in. I love chatting with her before and after my service. Gloria the owner who I only chatted with on the phone is fantastic and you can tell she hires only the best of the best. She also for the holidays gave people cookies and a $50 facial coupon- how sweet is that! She really builds a community with her customers which I love. I get my lashes done by Kelsey. I'm hooked. I am an incorrigible tomboy but I like to look pretty, if I can do so with minimal effort. So....LASH EXTENSIONS, ladies. They are the bomb! I'm telling you-- it's the best $65/month you'll spend on beautiful you. Skip highlights, haircuts, acrylic nails, tanning, all that jazz. Put the money into your peepers since people are always looking at those! [hahaha, men don't know what's different, they just know you look prettier and comment on it; at best they say they never noticed how long your lashes were-- women look for a minute and then ask if you did something different to your eyes...] I started in November when Gloria had a half-off special, just to try it. She covers your lower lashes, you shut your eyes, and she attaches one lash at a time to each of your own lashes. It takes about 2 hours the first time and about an hour after that for fill-ins. Although there's a bright light which you can see through your eyelid, amazingly enough you WILL fall asleep. It's very soothing, with peaceful music and a comfy bed, and just so relaxing you can't help it. Then she wakes you up, and BAM! you look like a movie star crossed with Bambi. Keep in mind, I'm a tomboy, so I didn't get the longest lashes possible-- but they're darker and thicker than my natural lashes, so I always look freshly mascara'd, without ever having to put it on or have raccoon eyes after a workout. I train Brazilian jiu jitsu 7 days a week, which means my eyelids frequently get rubbed as someone passes an arm over my face, tries to choke me, etc. I didn't write this review till after I'd had the lashes in for a full 5 weeks (and then got them filled, though usually you go only 4 weeks-- holidays interfered) because I wanted to see how they'd stand up under exceptional abuse. I'm happy to report that I still had enough lashes on after 5 weeks that I still didn't feel the need to wear eye makeup and I still felt like a movie star fawn. (If you find my profile on facebook, that picture shows my eyes pretty close-up at 2 weeks for an idea of what they look like.) The only things you need to be careful about are not getting your eyes wet for 24 hrs after they're done (just put a dry washcloth on your eyes while you shower) and you can't wear normal mascara, only water-based (but who needs mascara at all with these?) The initial investment is hefty but I swear it's worth it. Run, don't walk, especially if you have a special date coming up! read more

It's only fair to note I did not actually receive a spa service here. But my experience was notable enough to share: My girlfriend stepped off the plane from California late Saturday afternoon and was in desperate need of a eyebrow wax. she was in town for a business convention starting Monday and it was her last errand to take care of before relaxing for the weekend (she also wasn't confident salons would be open Sunday). Anywho, my favorite esti Georgia at Fit & Finish was booked already so I turned to my ole pal Yelp. Blink was the only salon on the east open past 5, so we headed straight over. Blink sits in the shopping center along the tracks over on 5th. The building is reasonably new and I was a fan upon walking in; everything is bright and clean and modern, as I feel a salon should be. (No one wants to get their hoo-ha waxed in a dump!) Even though it was about 5 minutes til close, and the owner was in the middle of an appointment, she made it a point to come out and acknowledge us. She said she would be happy to squeeze us in after she was done, yay! I had the opportunity to use the bathroom and was pleased: it's painted a cute lavender color with mirrored furniture and flowers; it has a shower and nice touches like real towels to wipe your hands and face with. Ahhh. As it turns out the esti went to the same high school as my girlfriend so they were instant buds. The appointment took all of five minutes and we were on our way! Before moving to NYC, I went to Gloria for years for her incredible waxing expertise (brows and brazilian). On a few recent visits to Austin (lucky me!) I've had the pleasure of getting a series of Rhonda Allison peels. The results are AMAZING. I have patches of discoloration that other methods and other peels really never sufficiently addressed and they are fading and staying gone! I really miss being able to go to Gloria and have yet to find someone in the city who puts so much effort into the little details. This review is addressing Blink Beauty business practices, not beauty services. I was REALLY looking forward to moving my business to this salon after reading some of the reviews. I have had lash extensions for a while and like them very much but my lash expert has moved and I must replace her. So, I had gone in to Blink Beauty's website last Wednesday and sent an internet request for an appointment with Brittany. I never received a call back so Friday I left voicemail for the salon to follow up with my contact information again and request for an appointment. This morning, Sunday, at 11:00 am I received a phone call from Gloria finally responding to my inquiry and request! I was surprised that she would attempt to return my call on a Sunday morning. Most of the time this time frame is off limits to business or sales due to folks being with family, church, and other weekend activities. However, Gloria seemed pleasant and eager to make an appointment for me at first so I gave her my information once again. I told her that I had already provided contact information and what I wanted through her web intake form and she said that she never gets anything from that and that it isn't working. (I wonder why she doesn't just update her website or take down the form?) Anyway, after I had set up the appointment she asked me for a credit card to hold the slot. Of course I understand the irritation of no-shows and their aggravating affect on a business's bottom line. But as a small business owner myself, getting people in the door to provide them with my exemplary service far outweighs the minor inconvenience of a no-show. I politely declined and then that is when Gloria said "Oh well, sorry. Our time is too valuable." Refusing my appointment because I wasn't willing to hand over my credit card was really the thing that drove the nail into the commerce coffin for me. I had sent the internet inquiry and then went out of my way to follow up with a phone call. No service industry can afford to alienate new busines in this economy. Not to mention that it is simply rude as hell to not return calls within 24 hours - and then trying to return sales calls Sunday morning! What came across immediately is: "You will do business with me at MY convenience. Your business is not as important to me as your dollar is and i don't care how inconvenient or impersonal this may seem but i am way too greedy to accomodate you." Perhaps Gloria has more business than she can handle and that is great. Perhaps younger customers are quite used to being treated rudely. Perhaps established customers are treated like royally...? But I will not do business with a company that makes it so difficult to get my foot in the door to simply try them out. She should have simply never returned my call at all. That way she would not have made the horrible business impression she made with me. read more

I just wanted to add to my review since it has been a while. I am so happy I found these ladies. Brooke is one of the only ladies I will allow to touch my eyes. I have been seeing her for 5 years and I am constantly impressed with her skills. She is quicker (which means more lashes in a shorter amount of time), she is honest, she truly cares...I feel it is important for me to say these things because my eyes (in my opinion) are my character feature.My eyes are very very sensitive and Brooke has been fantastic and never once have I been concerned or worried about anything. I also recently moved to Florida for a job (moved back)..but the entire time I lived there I flew back just so Brooke could do my lashes..I am in love with Blink and their commitment to professionalism. Let's start with the positive. She probably is one of the best brazillian waxers I've had, and I've been doing them for half a decade now. Fast and thorough and relatively painless (as far as a braziallian can be.) Booking an appointment, however, was far more painful than the wax! I had their Living Social Deal and made an appointment for 10am on a Friday. I show up to the salon and....nothing. No one was there. Doors were locked. I called from my cell phone, waited a few more minutes. Nothing. I got a call later that day, "Oh I'm so sorry my front desk girl didn't communicate I had an early appointment, please call back and reschedule and I'll make it up to you." Fair enough, mistakes happen. I called back again (during business hours) and had to leave a message. This time I actually got no call back whatsoever. I actually completely forgot about it until I saw the rumpled coupon I'd thrown in my car a couple weeks later. I call again and book. Ok, let's try this again. This time I had to call back because the wax ended up conflicting with my cycle (a brazillian is the last thing you want to do at that time!). The only time I could reschedule was after my coupon had expired, but they were ever so kind enough to let me use it. FINALLY the day of the appointment I get a call. "i know you appt is at 10 but can you push it back to 1030?" OMG....anything else? So I show up at 1030. So this has been about a 3-4 week ordeal now and I go in for my appointment and the first thing she says "You can only use half your coupon because you've been here before." Ummm.....I had never been there before but I had tried my darndest. After that confusion was cleared up, the appointment goes fine....but her dog is in the room the whole time. Luckily, I am a dog person but maybe it's not the most appropriate place for a dog to be while I was laying there so.....exposed? Anyways, in now way was it "made up to me" that she didn't even bother showing up for the original appointment, except I guess I got to use my expired coupon. I was confused with another customer and barked at that I could only use half my coupon, and she couldn't even keep the appointment time when I did go in. She is no doubt really good at what she does but is so disorganized, unprofessional, and uncommunicative about so much it makes it not worth it. It's the first time I never left a tip for a service. And being from the service industry myself I feel that speaks volumes. It's a shame because I would have totally kept going back there for her services. From other yelpers it sounds like lashes are her thing....so maybe she should just stick with that? read more

Brittany Snow worked on my lashes and she did a great job. My eyes are very sensitive and produce more tears than usual, and she worked around that like a pro. My lashes look so real and pretty! Why didn't I go to Blink Beauty sooner? I had to go through two different lash people before I found Blink on Yelp. Before, my extensions weren't sitting right, were falling out and four eyelashes would be glued to ONE extension. I was about to give up but I made an appointment because I didn't have much to lose. Thank God I made that appointment. Brittany was amazing. She explained everything that she wanted to do and gave me different options as to how I wanted to fix my botched extension job. She worked on me for two hours and I only paid $99 dollars for a FULL set of extensions. Usually a full set is between $200-$300! I left with beautiful lashes and I pre-booked a month in advance. I went to Gloria today for eyelash extensions. It was my first time and it was a great experience. The salon is soothing, very comfortable and feels like a massage studio. Gloria is professional, explains the process well and is obviously very conscientious. Generally, I don't enjoy being "worked on" ie, having my hair done, facials, etc. But this was very relaxing and my lashes look amazing -natural and low maintenance on a day to day basis.
