I've been to this establishment twice and they never miss! I officially claim this salon as my SPOT. It is conveniently located near my residence. The setting is blissful... every time. They usually always have availability same day or in the near future. They are punctual. They make your pedicure feel as if you're in the spa forreal, I somewhat have an outer body experience when I'm there. The owner of the establishment did a great job waxing my eyebrow, she even tries to bond with you. She told me that she also runs a facial bar upstairs which I will definitely check out. My eyebrows received compliments for weeks

My friend and I went to bliss for pedicures and it was such a pleasant experience. Both of our nail technicians were very patient and took their time with our pedicures. They also offered us complimentary wine which was a great bonus! Can't wait to go back :)

This is my second gel mani here and they did a great job! I do wish I would've gotten white underneath to make the sparkles pop, but that's okay. The receptionist is the sweetest and brought over colors for me and it was super fast but still super good quality. My nail lady also fixed one of my nails with glue and didn't charge extra for nail repair. 10/10 recommend!

I had to write a review about Mai Ly specifically. I took my partner here for a Valentine's treat, but it was me who got the treat. Bliss had a Valentines special of $55 for a spa pedicure. The establishment itself is so beautiful and serene. They definitely took the time to decorate. The front desk, Maria, was so helpful and kind. She even got my feet started. Truly, everyone in there had a smile on their face, and really gave great customer service. I had the pleasure of Mai Ly doing my spa pedicure. Let me preface that I am one of the most ticklish people you'll ever meet in your life! The way she took her time and applied pressure points to lessen significantly how ticklish and uncomfortable I felt, I literally fell asleep in the chair and I have never done that in my entire life!!! I will definitely be back to Bliss for a spa pedicure moving forward.

I had a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Both took about an hour total. The manicurist was very thorough and did about 4-5 passes. Other salons would do 2-3. The only complaint I have is that I wish she spend more time on my heels lol

Avoid this place at all costs! I went at a time that wasn't busy at all and the mail tech who did my nails still seemed to rush me the whole time. She didn't even give me the pedicure I wanted! When she was doing my nails I asked her to fix some spots and she blamed the nails not looking good on me. I told they lady at checkout and she said she would have her fix them but after waiting for a while I just gave up and left. Worst part has to be how they treat customers. I was offered water or coffee but not wine. I looked around and realized the only customers they offered wine to were the white ones . All of this just to spend $90 on gel nails and toes. Overpriced and awful

Went to this salon on Monday 3/25 and got a pedicure and an SNS manicure. Pedicure was fine, that's not the issue. My issue is I've been getting SNS for 5 years and I've never had this happen. My nails look like this after four days, you would think this was gel, but no, it's dip. I tried to get them to fix it, and they said I had to make an appointment & wouldn't accommodate me. $93 down the drain. I promise I won't be back.

Clean, modern, stunning salon!! I was in town for the week and desperately needed a mani/pedi. I called Bliss and they welcomed me in same day. I got a spa pedicure and the hot stone massage was exceptional. The lotions and scrubs they use are warm to the touch, and the color and paint job was beautiful and even. I am extremely satisfied with the services I received, and all the ladies were sweet. I can't wait to come back next time!

Tee is the best. Very meticulous and patient. He did my SNS and helped me pick the best color for my skin tone (I wanted a natural pink color). I am very particular about the shape of my nails and Tee took his time to get it perfectly square. I couldn't ask for more. Thanks

Nails by David: Glitter spotty, thick application, poor nail shape, dull color

I went to bliss because I'm new to the area and it had good reviews. I got an sns manicure and regular pedicure with David. The pedicure was fine but the nails were not. In general he did not ask me any questions and seemed annoyed if I said what I wanted. He did not brush off excess dip powder inbetween applications which made it very thick. He did sand the nails down, but the edges are still quite thick and the extra sanding hurt my cuticles. He didn't ask me what shape I wanted or length. The glitter on my index nail I missing in some spots. The nail shape isn't precise. He didn't put activator on the dip or gave me wash my hands. Update: I went back for a sns redo with Teri and she was great-- I would recommend going to her. I also got to observe David with another client. She had to ask him to fix a nail that was filed crooked and was told she couldn't get pink base with white French tip regular nail polish because "it would be too difficult" and the person working the front desk (Maria) BACKED HIM UP. To me, a service as simple as that, is not acceptable for a nail salon to refuse. He asked her no questions about shape, length etc for her manicure either. I would recommend not booking with David-- not only does he do poor work for whatever reason his poor performance is supported.

I am currently 8 months pregnant so the nail tech (MiMi) was patient, considerate and thorough. She made sure I was comfortable and I truly appreciated it. This salon is clean, welcoming and clean. My normal nail lady is out having her baby and so I decided to try a place walking distance from my house. Worst decision. I was greeted by either the manager or owner, she immediately places me down with a lady who had no idea where anything was, I believe it was her first day. I knew I was in trouble. I went in for dip manicure, was there for 90 minutes. And left having to go home and reshape my nail. I'm not a picky person, but every single nail is a different shape. And when I went to pay, the same woman who greeted me never asked how everything was, or anything just wanted her money. I think she knew I was not happy and please with the horrible job that was done. Sad disservice for a first time client. I will never go back and hopefully some readers will save their money reading this review and stay clear of this place. read more

Great spot. It didn't have the typical overpowering chemical smell. Thankfully! They were able to accommodate my walk-in pedicure. Best of all - my feet are smooth. Most pedicures make my feet more dry after than before and I typically have an expectation of "relaxation" rather than a "softness" outcome. This location did a fantastic job with removing my dry skin and moisturizing my feet - all without making me feel rushed. I'll definitely be back. read more

Well the lady who did my nails was super nice but pretty much all my cuticles were bleeding (you can see it in my pictures I posted). Cuticle pain is the worst and this is the reason why I dread going to a new nail salon. I am not sure if another nail technician would have been better but not sure if I will be returning. I will say that they did have clean environment and good customer service. read more

Spent $60 on a sns manicure that lasted less than 10 days. When I asked the owner to make it right all they offered was to charge me $7 per chipped nail (4 nails were chipped). Poor customer service and the manicure from the start was less than mediocre. There are plenty of other great salons in this area, give your business to people who care and respect your time and money. read more

I got my nails done here with my mom and sister for my wedding and they did such a great job. The nail techs were so friendly and my gel polish and normal pedi are still perfect a week later. They have good social distance protocols and lots of plexiglass up. Definitely reccomend! read more

I love this place I make an appointment and never have to wait and never have a problem getting an appointment. I get a regular polish manicure and pedicure and it's less than $60 and my nails really last two weeks! I always go to Ken, the male technician because he always is perfection. I highly recommend this spot. read more

I loved it here. This is officially my favorite nail salon. They are courteous and professional. The quality of work they provide is exceptional. I love that they are so helpful when it is needed. The salon itself is beautiful and has a relaxing atmosphere to accompany it. They do a great job with nails and offer you a refreshment to go along with your service. My salonist was Vicky. She was great and really got in there with my cuticles. It's hard to find someone who is able to really get in there properly. Although she did such a great job with my nail, I would like to mention that I added a lip wax service which wasn't so great. Now that I look at it, for $10, I still have a small patch on each side of my upper lip, not too happy about that. Another point I should make note of is that they are a little more pricey than what I'm used too but for the quality of the service, I suppose it's worth it. I've also attached a picture of their pricing. Parking is available however, seeing as how they are mainly by appointment only and they do such a great job, I see the close parking filling up quickly. I love this place and will definitely be returning and will become a regular. If you're looking for an amazing nail salon definitely check them out...for nails anyway. So until next time, ~~They nailed it! read more

So I've waited to post this review but after an amazing experience with another salon, I won't be returning here. I've visited this location about 4 times within the last few months and out of those times, only 1 okay. The first few times, my experience was fine receiving SNS but to me that experience was invalid due to my nails cracking less than 4 days after paying $50 for the service. When I came back to get the nails fixed they still charged me again for the service. Even with this I still chose to come back because the place is very nice but my last experience was absolutely absurd. This location only goes by appointments so I booked my appointment and showed up on time for SNS and a polish change. Unfortunately for me, my nail tech had been double booked so when I arrived, the receptionist was instructed to soak my nails. This would be fine except she clearly had never done this before. She was asking me how to it was supposed to be done but I'm not a nail tech so I don't know. The worst part of this entire experience in that while I was struggling with the receptionist and waiting over 1 hr an actual tech, the owner was getting her nails done! I won't be coming back. read more

ABOVE AND BEYOND This place is great, I usually get my eyelashes done by Cathy or NJ and I couldn't be more happier with the results, they both are wonderful and do an awesome job, their service is incredible, they really know what they're doing, I recommend this place 100% you won't be disappointed!! read more

Got my gel manicure and pedicure. I don't think they sanitized their tools. At least he did not open a new bag with fresh tools, just used whatever was on his table. I hope I won't get hepatitis, seriously concerned now. The man did not ask a single question about how I want my nails to be shaped, or trimmed, he looked irritated and watched a movie the whole time while doing my nails. He did minimal cuticle cutting, basically zero, minimal nail filing, skipped some nails. Minimal massage. No soap in a water, just plain water where I was supposed to soak my nails. The UV lamp looked extremely old. I am not going to this place again. Overall very sloppy . I doubt he has a license. read more

Absolutely love Bliss! I have been going every two weeks for the past 4 months. They are very clean and protective during covid. The manager at the front always knows my name when I walk in and is so friendly. Zaya is amazing. Their pedicures and SNS dip last so long, and they do such a great job. Was looking for a nail place as I just relocated to the area. I've had great nail techs in my previous state but Matu at Bliss is fantastic. He's an absolute perfectionIst and it shows in the quality of my pedi and SNS dip mani. He had to fix a terrible pedi I'd recently had and also remove acrylic nails. He was great at explaining what he was doing and very friendly. I don't need to look around, I'll stick with Bliss. It's very tranquil and beautiful inside. read more

I've gotten my hair flat-ironed or curled here a hand full of times, but I stopped spending money with them after I noticed that two people (whom were Ethiopian) came after me and were serviced before me. After that, I would only pay them every once in a while to wash my hair- no blow dry or anything else. It was a $10 fee to get my hair washed. I visited this place yesterday to get my hair washed and was asked if I'm getting a flat-iron and I stated no. When it was time to pay, I was asked if I wanted cash back as well. They usually give cash back to allow people to tip. In my mind, I was already going to tip $5 so I requested that. I was given my receipt and it stated $20. I was confused as to why I was charged $20 when the wash should have been $10 and I only requested $5 cash back. I told the woman that I thought it was $10, and she just said no. I paid the $15 and kept my $5 because I'll be damned if I pay $20 for a hair wash with no blow dry. Now that I think of it, I think the woman added her own tip. In addition to hair services, they also have a barber for mens hair cuts and they do some waxing. If you seen the way the waxing machine looks and you care about sanitation, you may not want use that service. Ambiance: the salon isn't well maintained in the least. It usually smells of burnt hair or a bad perm. There isn't much decor. The seating and other things are screaming for an update. I don't think they have a window to open, so there isn't much air circulation. The bathrooms are usually dirty and the ceiling in there drips when it rains. I've never seen anyone come with an appointment and there is usually only 2 hair stylists, so I believe it is a first come first served situation. You will be here at least 3 hours with how long they take. Your hair will look decent and maybe even beautiful, but I hate that they add product to your finished hair because it makes the style get greasy and stale faster. There is free parking in the parking lot.

My brows started to have that washed out look, but I just didn't feel compelled to go back to the original artist (although the color boost would have been much cheaper.)After following Good Brows on social media for a few years, I decided that Simone's work had a softer, more natural look that was much more aligned with my taste. So I inquired and she soon followed up to set up a consultative call after I sent a picture of my brows at present. My appointment was set up on that call, which was about 6 weeks away. I made a non-refundable deposit at that time and then received more pre-appointment instructions the week of my appointment. I must admit, there are a lot of details to read and pay attention to when it comes to policy - which is either a sign of a meticulous and detailed business owner, or potentially someone so particular that flexibility may not be at the forefont when it comes to collaboration. Luckily, all of these details are just so that Simone can maintain a high level of professionalism in running her business and ensuring that her clients receive the standard in care and artistry that they're paying for. On morning of the appointment, I gave myself plenty of time to ensure I wasn't late (there is a $150 rescheduling policy if you're more than 10 mins late.) She texted me right when I was arriving, which was a few minutes early to let me know I could come in if I was waiting, so we were able to start right on time. The studio space is warm and beautiful, adorned with gorgeous art (if you're lucky, she may tell you some stories about the pieces.) She then sat with me to talk about my concerns and interests. She's a good listener - genuine, intentional and collaborative in ensuring that what you like is what she delivers. When asking about how nano strokes might look over time, she was honest with me and level set expectations. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that kind of transparency -it's refreshing. She ended up cleaning up my brows, color correcting and adding a few strokes to the front and I tell you - I feel brand new (even fresh out of the chair, which we all know can feel a bit alarming before the color softens up in the healing process.) Additionally, it was evident through our conversation throughout that Simone is a beautiful human - inside and out. I enjoyed our chat and loved the result of her work. If you're in limbo, I suggest you go for it but have a good sense of what you're looking for. Bring examples of past work that you may like or try to go in with an understanding of the overall aesthetics of what appeals most to you. Simone is an expert, so the quality of the work speaks for itself. I feel relieved that I've found an artist that has an aesthetic of work and level of professionalism that I truly value to return to when needed. Thanks again so much, Simone!

They've simply moved on and created this wonderful salon. We weren't previous clients, but their reputation definitely preceded them. On a Saturday around 4:00 PM, my wife and I decided on a spur-of-the-moment manicure and pedicure date. Anyone who regularly visits nail salons knows that's usually a recipe for disappointment. Either the salon is fully booked, the wait is outrageous, or you end up with the technician nobody else wanted. Thankfully, luck was on our side. I went online and found only two appointment slots remaining. We selected our services, submitted the request, and within five minutes our appointment was confirmed. Shortly afterward, we received a phone call confirming everything and letting us know we could even arrive a little earlier if we'd like. Our appointment was scheduled for 5:15 PM. N & J Nails is located in Alexandria, just a few minutes from Potomac Yard and on the same block as Founding Farmers. Depending on traffic, the 9-mile drive from our home can take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour. Thankfully, we made it in just under 30 minutes. Parking was easy. There is both street parking and garage parking available. We chose street parking and paid $4 for two hours, but learned that garage parking can be validated. When we arrived, we were greeted by the same gentleman who had called to confirm our appointment. It wasn't the typical "you're the last appointment of the day, let's get this over with" greeting. It felt like they had genuinely been expecting us and were happy we were there. We were offered beverages and snacks, then settled into the massage chairs for our pedicures. My wife worked with Tina while I had Linda. After reviewing the menu and confirming our selections, they made a few recommendations and got started. My wife chose a spa manicure and spa pedicure with gel polish and builder gel to help strengthen and grow out her natural nails. My service included callus removal, nail trimming and shaping, cuticle care, orange slices, a sea salt and mint mud foot mask, relaxing massage treatments, oil lotion massage, and hot towels. The total before tip was approximately $250 for both of us. Before Linda began, I warned her that I'm extremely ticklish. I usually end up asking technicians to skip the foot massage because it's never enjoyable. Not this time. For the first time ever, I was actually able to enjoy a foot massage. Linda clearly knew exactly what she was doing. There were a couple brief moments during the callus removal that tickled a little, but compared to every other pedicure I've received, it was minimal. The scrub, water temperature, calf massage, foot massage, and overall technique were absolutely perfect. The finished pedicure was flawless. Smooth feet. Perfectly trimmed and shaped nails. No pain. No bleeding. No rushing. What impressed me most was her attention to detail. Even after I would have been completely satisfied, she continued checking, refining, and perfecting her work. She clearly takes pride in what she does. The manicure was equally impressive. Every nail and cuticle received the same level of care and precision. Nothing felt rushed. Everything looked clean, polished, and professional. The hand massage was fantastic as well. I actually started writing this review on Saturday but intentionally waited until Monday to finish it because I wanted to see how everything held up. Two days later? Still perfect. My wife wrote her own review specifically for Tina, but she was equally impressed. Both Tina and Linda were exceptional. Throughout the appointment we shared laughs, had great conversation, and by the end it felt less like visiting a business and more like spending time with people who genuinely care about their clients. Even Ben stopped by toward the end and joined the conversation. That's what makes N & J Nails special. The services were excellent. The salon was spotless. Throughout our visit, staff continuously cleaned and maintained the space. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and relaxing. Most importantly, every person there genuinely seemed to care about delivering the best experience possible. There were only three workers, which I understand, but it was still frustrating to wait that long with an appointment. The pedicure also felt rushed. Usually you get lotion and a little massage, but none of that was included. At that point I just wanted to get my nails done and leave. For my manicure, the technician used a portable UV lamp that made my nails burn. It was really uncomfortable, and he didn't seem concerned when I mentioned it. I got a French tip, and you could clearly see my nail beds through the polish. When I told him I wasn't happy with how it looked, he just said it was my natural nail instead of trying to fix it. The most disappointing part was the quality. I tipped, left, and in less than 24 hours my thumbnail had already chipped. That has never happened to me before not even when I do my own nails at home. I ended up going to a nail salon in South Carolina, and they immediately told me the nails weren't done well and that they wouldn't last. They also added a better nude base color so you couldn't see my nail beds anymore, which made a huge difference. That showed me that my nails could have been done correctly at Old Town Nail & Spa, but they simply weren't. They also told me more chipping was likely to happen. I paid a lot of money because I wanted my nails to look nice for a wedding that weekend, and instead I got poor-quality nails and disappointing customer service. Sadly, I won't be coming back.

Bliss Nail & Spa of Alexandria, VA - Unprofessional and Lacking Care for Clients I had an extremely disappointing experience at Bliss Nail & Spa during my last visit. I went in to repair a broken nail and made it clear to the technician, Terri, that my nail was sensitive and needed to be handled carefully. Despite this, she dug too deeply into my nail bed while removing the damaged section, causing unbearable pain. I screamed in agony and tried to make her understand the severity, but she seemed indifferent to my discomfort. Against my better judgment, I allowed her to finish the repair. The very next day, the nail broke again. I couldn't get it repaired immediately due to the pain, but I called to inform the receptionist, Maria, about the issue. Rather than offering any resolution, I was told there was no availability to fix the nail, which added to my frustration. To make matters worse, I noticed a few nails had developed fungus due to the acrylic overlay, and within days, several other nails broke. The technician ignored my concerns, didn't communicate well, and repeatedly over-filed underneath my nails, making them thin and brittle. At no point was I provided with advice or care instructions to maintain healthy nails. What's even more troubling is how the business handled the situation. I came here couple times with my friend who lives close by. She recommended the place. I've had done gel manicure and spa pedicure here, which i liked. Last time i had done the SNS dipping powder and the color was amazing but the job wasn't nicely done. I think they are new with SNS because when i made the appointment they were kind of confused and didn't know who to schedule for the job, and the lady who did my manicure looked like she didn't have much experience with the SNS products and technics. When i mentioned to her that the powder on my nails is way too thick she said that it supposed to be like that because it's powder, but i had it done many times before in other places and of course it wasn't thick at all. I didn't argue with her or anything, i said ok and i tipped her 20% but i won't go back here for a SNS manicure for sure, maybe a pedicure or regular gel manicure. read more

Went to see Gretchen on Thursday August 22nd. She does such a terrific job. She takes her time when doing SNS manicures. Myself, and my two daughters lover her work. This nail salon has the best atmosphere, very relaxing and welcoming. The pedicure was very soothing and staff were super accommodating considering I stopped by with a friend during the coronavirus outbreak. This is my first pedicure and I am proud that I got it here.
