Made an appointment and when I got there everyone was busy so waited 10/15 minutes and then the woman doing my pedicure cut me twice on two different toes. I've been a loyal customer at Amity Nail Spa since 2018 and have never once had a bad experience until today. I came in urgently needing to fix a completely chipped toe before a flight in just a few hours. I didn't remember the exact color, so I asked the male technician for help. Without hesitation, he handed me one small book of colors, even though the salon clearly has hundreds, and told me that was all they had. When I explained I needed help finding the match, he looked me dead in the face and said, word for word, "I don't have time to help you. You find color." Then he walked away and sat back at his desk. I was shocked. I have never felt so disrespected or dismissed in a place I've supported for years. I've always tipped generously, usually 20 to 25 percent, and in that moment I got up, paid for the incomplete service, and walked out. When I told the woman at the front what he had said to me, she didn't react at all. Not even an apology. I have never been made to feel so unwelcome in a business I've supported for so long. After today, I will never return. Deeply disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. read more

I really contemplated writing this review. I tried to think of something positive. I've been here a few times to get my nails done. But the last time was the last time. Never again. I went in with normal-looking healthy nails. They just needed a manicure, but they looked good. Just needed a cleanup. And now my nails are five times worse than they were when I walked in. I wanted SnS/dip, which I got, but I ALSO got gel on top of it, and I don't understand why. My nails look absolutely ridiculous. TERRIBLE. I don't know why I didn't just have him redo the whole thing, but the damage is already done and I just wanted to get out of there. I was also stabbed multiple times with cuticle scissors. Drew blood. And honestly, even the filing was DEEPLY aggressive. As was the "massage." I will point out that this manicure was done by a man. None of the women did this. I look at my nails all the time and can't believe I paid $65 for them. They look terrible. Your staff needs to be better trained. read more

I came here because I needed to get my nails done for vacation and this was close and had great reviews - so I figured let's try! I am extremely disappointed with the quality of pedicure ($35) I received and the service. I was a walk-in I called a few minutes ahead of time and they told me to come in. I was greeted immediately and then sat for almost 15 mins in the pedicure chair with my feet soaking until someone came, but they communicated that to me and I just read while I waited. Now, to the service. I requested the color #1. The woman who was doing my pedicure came back with a gel color and I told her I do not want gel. She then told me they don't have the color I want in regular. Maybe the manager, a woman ends up coming to the back and I tell her that the woman told me there is no regular of the color I want so I will just get another color, she goes and finds me the regular color. Also, neither of the colors are what I requested. You can tell me if I'm mistaking the colors. Anyways, the woman continues to tell me I need gel color since I am going on vacation and that's what I need to do. She informs me it's $20+ but better. I've already told this woman I want regular, I made an appointment for regular I have no idea why I had to keep repeating myself and declining - frustrating. The color they gave me with a white base and color on top would make it pop, but I guess she did not understand my suggestion. I am an avid nail girl, and I was irritated that one she did not do it or even recommend it to me. I asked for square with round corners, she cut my toes extremely short and poorly shaped them. I feel like I need to go to another salon to fix all of these mistakes. I was super disappointed with this salon and I wish I never came here and spent my money. I hate writing bad reviews and as an Elite I know how we have to truly write from a factual and fair point and this was just upsetting and terrible. I've been coming here for 3 years and the service has become really, really 50/50. Mimi has great customer service and when she is in the salon, she always double checks your nails, asks how you liked them, etc. I had amazing ying yang nails I got done in August of this year that got me so many compliments. However my last two experiences were not great. I always enjoy their pedicures but I really don't know if I will go back for SNS. When I came in September for my second set this year, the women doing my nails, Anh, did a great job with shape and color. However she made me bleed twice and it really hurt when I was getting my nails shaped. I have been getting fake nails for over 15 years and I feel like this studio in particular would rather rush through the nails then try to avoid hurting you. Getting my nails done now feels like a dreaded chore because it hurts and I go home with cuts and nails that feel like they were burned. The last time I went I had Thien do my nails. Some of the SNS application was sloppy but I was leaving for a wedding that day so I didn't mind. However, within 48 hours I had 5-8 nails crack- they weren't broken but rather had visible cracks in the nail. I originally was going to come in and get them fixed but I fell ill with COVID so I couldn't leave my house. In the meantime I have had 4 of my real nails split completely in half, in the middle of the nail bed itself. It's super painful and now I can't get my nails redone as I am missing 4 of my real nails- they are stubs now. My two favorite nail artists have left in the last 2 years so I typically will go with whoever fits me in- however with my last two experiences I really don't feel comfortable with going with anyone at this point to get my nails done. read more

If you are looking for a nail salon this is where you should go!! I always get compliments on my nails and have had strangers and colleagues ask me where i get them done and I tell them to come here. They can do more than just solids and french tip, unlike my last place (tho i still love a french tip). When I first started I would have this weird thing where my manicures wouldn't chip, but crack. The owner, Mimi, took that personally and told me we would figure it out, even if she had to buy me my own polish. She even gave me her personal cell phone number. It took a few tries, but we did figure it out (dip manicure with gel top coat) and haven't had any issues since! Now all my manicures last the full 3 weeks and I never come in in between appointments. I have seen Wendy, Quinn, Mai, Young-ah before eventually sticking with Anna, but have never had a bad manicure. Anna does a great job with designs, remembers what I like, is very thoughtful and considerate and is just the best! Highly recommend! The salon is clean and relaxing, and everyone is very nice. Mimi and the artists do a good job of keeping up with trends, and have a wide variety of colors. The receptionist, Hailey, is very good at her job and always has the coolest manicures. They have the standard types of polish, regular, dip, and gel and can do chrome, pearl, jelly, ombré, and design. I can't speak about 3D elements cause that's not my vibe. Tip: they can do designs but not every artist has the same skill set, so if you know you want a design call in advance and when you make an appointment ask for "someone who is good with design." Parking is around back in the garage. It's kind of weird, you can exit from the garage through an apt building lobby to get to the salon, but you can't go back through the lobby to get back to the garage, and there is no pedestrian door from the garage, so to return to your car you have to walk around the building, the same way you came in in your car. read more

This is the second time I've had a bad experience at this salon. All I wanted was a regular manicure with white polish. The nail tech applied the polish in thick coats. Up close, you can see that the polish is really clumpy. One of my nails chipped the very next day. Also, the nail tech left before my nails were finished drying. She didn't even check my nails to see if they were okay before she left. And a different nail tech came over and made a snarky comment by saying "you have to wait here 2 hours for that to dry" and laughed. Then she kept reaching over me and invading my personal space to get hand cream for her own hands. So rude! I believe they are prejudice at this salon. I have been to Amity a few times now and have always been pleased with my services. I've tried both acrylic nails with gel polish and dip nails (wanted to take a break from acrylic and I must say dip is awesome!!). Hailey has done my nails twice and done a fantastic job! I can't recall who did my nails this last time, but it's possible that all of the technicians are great. I am a fan of how they shape the nails based on your fingers and they are certainly better than any other spa/salon that I have tried in NOVA. I have been known to push it, but my nails also can last me up to 3 weeks. A win in my book and speaks to the quality of their service. Besides the service there are plenty of polish colors to choose from and it seems they can literally do any service you're looking for. I definitely understand why they have been ranked so highly. Not to mention every time I go there is a crowd. I've tried weekdays, weekends, and even lunch breaks and there are always people there. So needless to say I highly recommend calling first for an appointment! It's easy to schedule but will cut down on you having to wait. COVID-19 protocols: right now everyone has to wash their hands upon arrival, get a temperature check, and fill out a health screening form via phone. They also are sanitizing chairs and counters between customers and using plexi glass screens. And of course customers and technicians are all wearing masks. read more
