I was visiting and staying in Old Town Alexandria, and took advantage of some free time on Saturday morning to get the manicure I desperately needed. I opted for the Spa Manicure ($49). I selected the Green Tea Detox from the 'scent' options. The manicure included a scrub, masque, and massage butter. A shoulder massage would have been a good addition while the masque was curing. I saw this place and I decided to try a new nail salon. I made an appointment for 4pm for a full set. My boyfriend last minute decided he wanted a pedicure. So, I called at 1:45pm and decided to add a pedicure. Mia answered and she said "come now I can do you both." I immediately hopped in my car. She called at 2:03pm and asked where I was. I arrived around 2:10pm. Right when I walked in I showed a picture of the nails I wanted, and Mia said she could do them. I go to get my nails done. She shapes them beautifully but she's rushing through it all and not taking her time. We get to where you need to paint and she asks me for a color. I show her the picture and say this is what I want. She says I can't do that. We are in a hurry and I don't know how. I'm a little disappointed at this point but decide to just get plain black. We leave. It was $50 for me and $35 for my boyfriends pedicure. I'm writing this now not even 12 hours later and a nail has broken. I'm extremely disappointed and I discourage anyone from going there during busy hours. The place is beautifully decorated inside and everyone is nice. But, if they don't have time for their customers, what business is that? read more

They're super nice but I'm used to better pedicure services. If you want the bare minimum this is the place to go. Don't expect to have the perfectly exfoliated cuticles on your toes though. They don't have a machine, so they're a bit old school. They're super nice and get the job done though. read more

Won't be returning here. I chose this place as it had good reviews. I came in for a regular mani and pedi (male) and was very disappointed. I'm not sure if the nail tech was licensed or she was an apprentice (destany) but she was terrible. She barely knew how to file my toenails down during the pedicure...she was legit struggling...I think a 5th grader would have done a better job. She didn't push or trim my cuticles, and she was not aggressive when using the pumice stone. Thoroughly disappointed. The mani nail tech (Asian girl with braces) she didn't do much better. My nails never were soaked in a bowl of water, She didn't trim my nails down as far as I wanted and were uneven to the point that I got home and had to cut them down myself. I could have just gotten some nail clippers and done them myself. Do not recommend. read more

The two women that helped us were sweet and tried to engage in conversation by asking us about our work and the last time we got pedicures. They offered us tea (was hoping for a glass of wine or Champaign like I have in other places) and did a great scrub on our feet. In the future, I'd love more of a massage and an opportunity pay for tip via credit card. I had been desperate for a pedicure mostly for the massage and callus removal. This was one of the few places open on my day off and after working weekend 12 hr+ shifts at work it was a very pleasant experience. I came in as a walk-in and was immediately accommodated. The women there were very friendly and polite and offer refreshments. The pedicure was nice. Nothing over and above but definitely enjoyable. The tools were removed from the packaging in front of me. I received a rather substantial foot and leg massage and appreciate the hot oil and towels they use. The paint job was as expected and overall I am very pleased and happy that this place is within walking distance of my house. The price is more than I would like to pay but I suppose that's probably just the cost of getting a pedicure in Old Town. I came in for another pedicure today and received the exact same treatment and I appreciate that consistency. read more

The manicure and shellack prices were decent, the staff were nice to me, and fast. The first impression is that the place is clean. BUT -- I don't know whether this place sterilizes their instruments. And sterilization to me is THE most important aspect of nail salons. They brought the instruments out in a clear plastic bag which I know is not an autoclave bag. Sealed or not sealed, these instruments were not sterile. Luckily, I came in having trimmed my own cuticles and asked the lady to not do a manicure for me. Secondly, and this is not a deal-breaker, but I generally do not like when people in customer service speak a different language to each other that I do not understand. Especially when it has something to do with my appointment and I have to keep asking them "what? sit where? so should I wait?... come back?". It's just impolite. English is not my native language either, and I've also worked in customer service industry for years, too - you have to try to find ways to be courteous if you want your customers to feel comfortable. read more

I needed a nail salon that could handle a bachelorette party of 10 girls, and after looking at Yelp and visiting 3 places in person, I picked Riverside. We gave them a list a week ahead of time of manis, pedis, and 'both', and they had us all 10 of us in and out in 2 1/2 hrs, but no one felt rushed, the quality was excellent, and everyone had a total blast talking and hanging out. (They even called in an extra person (it was on Saturday) to make sure they could get us in and out on time!) The staff are professional and polite; the facility is warm and inviting and clean; and they offer you water, softdrinks, or coffee/tea while you have your service. They have a huge number of colors, OPI and Essie, and the bottles look mostly fresh and clean. (One girl found her toes got smudged two hours after the service, which i attiribute to the polish being too thick/dry, but it wasn't horrible and she wasn't local so we didn't bother to go back and say anything.) They had a variety of bottles in their kit, but on me they used Orly Bonder base coat and Seche Vite topcoat, which are my staples for long-wear, with an OPI nude polish. They did a beautiful job. Despite working on a computer every day, they were still pristine seven days later - which is unheard of for my nails - when I decided to change the color. I typically get my nails done at Circe in Old Town, where I get my hair cut (Kait is the best!), but for the price of a mani alone I can get a mani-pedi that rivals the quality and service at Circe - something I did not expect to find at a 'neighborhood' nail spa. I'm planning to get my nails done with gel polish this week for the wedding. Great service, nice facility, excellent quality, and a good value. Cannot ask for more. read more
