This was my first time hearing about this place. I went on a Sunday evening - I suggest trying to make a reservation. It's in a strip mall and they offer valet parking $10, I was able to self park without any issues finding parking - but I heard it can be super busy. Very cute place. They have a couple spots for photo opps, bar area and several tv's for catching a game etc. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The catfish and grits were so delicious! The flavor was amazing. My cousins had the lamb chops - omg they were so delicious- the seasoning was incredible! The whole place has such a great vibe - they had some music playing which can be a little loud. I've never been here and came for a group event. I love trying new things and I'm familiar with the area but not this resturant. The outside looks nothing like the inside. I came Sunday for brunch and it appears the menus are different. What you see online is different than what they offer as far as the drinks. No bottomless mimosas, just a tower for $70. The service was very slow and I was upset that it took forever to receive a mimosa tower. Over 40 minutes. We canceled and ordered different drinks. So frustrating that I won't go too deep into it. The food was so good. I'd return because of the food and ambiance. The DJ was on point. We also had a large party so maybe next time, I'll come with a group of 4 or less. The ambiance was nice, music selection was great but it was practically empty. I didn't like the high booths as I like to people watch and this prevented that. The service was good. I ordered the Hennessy punch which was great, the fried catfish which was good and the Jamaican rice and peas which need work. There's a whole lot going on at Bliss. The name is an interesting choice. I suppose it depends on your definition of 'bliss'. Parking is a nightmare. There's valet for $10. Why when it's literally a coned area in clear sight. You most definitely will get carded. Another interesting thing. Inside the place is really pretty with a brunch vibe. Floral Photo walls; hanging wicker lanterns; rose and emerald velvet seats. The bathroom is even cute decorated in black and white with black toilets. I could not get the faucet to work. I pushed and prodded; no water. The music is LOUD and with very explicit lyrics. Some songs I recognized as hip hop is not my jam. Don't expect to visit Bliss and have a conversation. It ain't that type of party. There were 8 of us; 2pm on a Sunday. Some ladies had just left church and others were dressed for the club. Took forever for only my food to arrive (jerk wings and cabbage). I really enjoyed my food. Waitress was stingy with water. She brought two for the table, then one. Then another twenty minutes later. A walk into this place and you're instantly transported to paradise. The decor is beautiful! And the details were there and they mattered. So the inside of the restaurant is really nice, and they actually do check ID's of everyone when you enter. For a Sunday brunch it was actually pretty crowded. There's multiple seats at the bar (which is where I sat and ate) and the TV's were playing all of the NFL Games which is a plus. Allowing the crowd to be a more mature age is a different vibe than your typical brunch spot, even when the DJ started playing hits, the crowd felt old lol maybe it's just me but I like the turn up vibes way more! So far, I have been to Bliss twice and had two different experiences. The first time I went, it was with a group of women, from my in-laws family. Including my grandmother and mother-in-law. We arrived at about 415, 4:30. Beautiful establishment. They refused to let my mother-in-law in without showing her ID. I understand that there is an age requirement to enter, but you can clearly tell that my mother-in-law is over 35. I am 35 and I showed my ID and told them who she was, but fine, rules are rules. When we were finally sat, we couldn't help but notice that the music was BLASTING. And it was explicit. I just feel like if you're going to be considering yourself an upscale establishment with an age requirement to enter, you might want to consider having music like that played after maybe 7 or 8 o'clock. Not during an early dinner when women in their 60's, 70s and 80s are dining in. The service was great. Our servers name was Carter. She was super attentive and friendly. The food is overpriced in my opinion; portions are WAY small but I can't lie, my chicken rice and peas and cabbage was good. I feel like they overprice the food because the menu is extremely limited. Drinks are strong as well and not to badly priced; average as a regular bar or restaurant honestly. The 2nd time I went with my brother-in-law and husband. This time we arrived at about 9 o'clock on a Saturday and the music was blasting so loud you could hear from the parking lot. We go inside and there is a DJ upstairs and the place was pretty packed. We ordered 3 drinks, my husband ordered oxtails for dinner and our bill was $80!! They added gratuity for a table of two and charged $32 for oxtails that were cut in half! And the oxtails were not even good. AND MY HUSBAND WAS STILL HUNGRY (PORTION SIZE) after eating. I was soooooo upset. Honestly, I don't have to come back unless I am coming for drinks or to support someone for some type of event. CamI for my cousins birthday.. music is great .. one of our hookahs was great.. had a table and requested our waitress 3 times.. she told me 3 times she would be right back. While visiting the city my cousin brought me here for a nice dine out. The ambiance was very nice. The restaurant looked very clean & very picture esthetic ready. I went inside to speak with management to tell them what happened, the bartender flippantly told me that I would have to wait until they came out. She was not going to get them. I had to find my waitress to get assistance. Bliss's security was very helpful with getting the glass out of mycar, covering my door and working with the police to get video footage. He then stated that Bliss would cover the cost of replacing my window. Only to have them ignore my calls and texts after they started the text exchange cause they did not know who I was and left me on read. The service was great, but to require a mandatory gratuity on every bill without prior notice is wrong. I tried to call but never got a response. We had a party of two, but ordered lots of food and drinks. The gratuity at 18% came to 15.00. I believe in a party of two, I should have the right to decide the tip. I went to Bliss for my 56th birthday (07-20) with my daughter, who is 31. When we got there, the police was checking IDs instead of the owners. That was the first bad sign for me. Then when we able to get in, the hostess told us we would have to wait an hour for a table. Understandable, since we didn't have a reservation. We decided to go to the bar and wait. The place was crowded, in spite of the age restrictions there was still a lot of younger people, the music did not cater to an older crowd. I had to use the restroom and some of the patrons were loud and seemingly drink. One of them fell on the stall door I was using. I had to hold on to the handle to keep her from coming in on me using the restroom. When I was finally able to get out of the stall, the patrons kept asking, " You wanna take a picture in front of the Bliss roses?". By this time my daughter was the one ready to leave. So was I. The only thing I wanted to do was celebrate my birthday with my daughter. Hopefully I can come on a different night, but it won't be on a Saturday. read more
