I joined BlkOps in December of 2017. Prior to joining, I was a member of the Y for years. More…read moreoften than not, I paid for the Y without actually going, and when I did actually make it there, it was only to use the treadmill--literally only the treadmill--because I was scared and intimidated and it was the only piece of equipment I knew how to use. I immediately felt at home at BlkOps. The owners, Antonio and Kelly, and their team of coaches all supported me and helped me to grow. In my 2+ years there, I have learned SO much about lifting weights, conditioning, eating nutritionally, and feeling confident in myself. Now, when I am away from home, I feel confident in writing myself a challenging and effective workout and in marching directly into a hotel gym to execute it. And I don't even touch the treadmill. On top of all that I have learned at BlkOps, I have gained some incredible friendships. Each member of the gym inspires me daily and helps make the gym feel like a home away from home. Because of these people and because of the challenging workouts that we persevere through together, going to the gym is now my favorite part of the day. I've gone from basically donating my money to the Y to working out on an almost daily basis. Oh, and also, I look a lot better now than when I first joined. If you're looking to build on your existing fitness knowledge (whether you are a complete novice like I was or whether you already have a lot of experience), if you want to be challenged daily, if you want to join an incredible community, and if you want to look and feel dramatically better, BlkOps is the gym for you!

Having recently worked out there myself, I can say I easily agree. The Owner, Antonio, was immediately welcoming. While the space is not incredibly big, you can quickly see that every nook and cranny has been thoughtfully and strategically utilized. The equipment is fresh and clean and the classes are never over crowded. Those that I worked out with were equally welcoming and encouraging up until the workout was through. I highly recommend BlkOps if you are new to the area or looking for a gym to surround yourself with great people and great workouts.

Brian, the gym owner, is the heart of the whole operation. He does a great job of putting together programs that are challenging and different. The workouts always have a theme to pull the moves together usually either concentrating on different body parts and/or concepts (balance, agility, speed, etc.) Will continue to come here and get my sweat on! A meat head gym- no doubt! This place is typically not staffed except for when a new member needs…read moreto sign up and makes arrangements ahead of time by calling or e-mailing now. You can even get a 1 day pass online and not have to make actual contact nor is it expected probably. For the monthly pass, with no enrollment fees, mind you, you would need to make an appointment the first time around. If you can make it at least 5 times to the gym within the month, then it is worth getting the 24-7 access by the month. Most gyms wanted to charge me an enrollment fee for a partial one month period, and it was just not worth it to do that for me. Most gyms don't have 24-7 access and those that do will tack on this enrollment fee. I was planning to work out manually but then I had thought of this gym and tried asking and glad I did! There are showering facilities which I wouldn't have expected, but it's super nice to know that I don't have to leave sweaty and head straight back home if I don't want to. Definitely a potential incentive to keep working out and makes it feel less like a stressful event. One of the showers doesn't even work currently, but there are two others that do. The toilet paper rolls look worn out and it feels like if they were fixed, some musclehead might accidentally break it again by pulling too hard on it. Another one, during one time I was there, the water was accidentally left on and I turned it off, I could see how one might be in a hurry and not have closed the faucet all the way. You just try to do the right thing with minor things like that. Most clients probably would prefer to drive home and use their own comfortable shower rather than the one provided here. There are also a few bottles of wipes provided, but I was probably the only one who would use them or maybe they would only be used by others if sweat got on the equipment. There's a whole array of apparel from online that can be shipped directly to you and pictures of history and pride of the gym and the owner's past interests and successes. I can't fully appreciate the equipment that is here nor understand how to use much of it. I tried to look what equipment was what and how to use it when I could and sometimes I just did things by looking and feeling them out enough but making sure I could handle the weights and such if things didn't quite go as I expected. The only thing I wish this gym and most gyms could have is an optional local community event to get together and just chit chat once in awhile, maybe like every month or 2 or 3 months. I have run into a few that do this or did this once in a rare occasion to try it out, but it is a way to try to build community so that I'm not just showing up and leaving. Gyms that have classes, as I can't make those regularly, I'm not able to socialize that way. So, the classes have become not a big deal to me. The personal trainers I've tried at other gyms is hit or miss, more miss The trainers I tend to like to work with the least are the ones that have been hired through a mainstream gym because many of these people only want to work with certain clientele and they may do things like not show up to their appointment or put someone else in place when that is not the standard practice at most gyms (and this probably should be the standard practice at most mainstream gyms.) They are trying to go for the "relational" connection building, but most gyms are way too transient for this on both the client and staff sides to be effective. A few reviews have said that one can just ask others for help. While I probably could've, I did feel like as a non-jock, I would be intruding on someone else's workout and if I asked them something, what could I offer them back that they would want? Sometimes, a "thank you" might be enough, but I guess living in this world and how it's changed and socially, not for the better, I feel uncomfortable without more context. Even something as simple as I recognize that brand name on your shirt or something "generic" but thoughtful like that could be enough. I think there are people who are probably really nice, but some that would be super annoyed. You don't always know 100% but you just get that vibe. Even things more in my space and YelpE, and even in things where I definitely level off enough with others, I have not built the tight friendships one might expect. A few people did say "hi" when I was least expecting it, and one person ended up going into the gym even thanking me for "letting him in", but I wasn't actually letting him in and I didn't want to create an unnecessary conflict. I also just wanted to leave the gym at that time too. It was safe to assume he had a valid pass and just wasn't finding his pass or working the system right. This slew of gym types is typically less advertised I believe as a Baltimore friend thought this type of gym didn't exist near him.

From the AC not working in the summer for weeks at a time, to constantly leaking roofs, to equipment breaking routinely, this has been the norm. And for the most part we accepted it. What is now occurring is the total disrespect of the amazing staff. They are the ones who work day in and day out with these poor conditions and who have been the ones who have had to overcome and persevere, all with smiles on their faces, in spite of the mismanagement and lack of any support from the owner, Romit. SM, Kelsey and ASM, Brie have been amazing and always have a smile on their faces. Kelsey and Kam have held down the coaching at a time when classes were being canceled routinely due to coaching shortages previously. Now Romit is bringing in multiple "consultants" who are taking shifts away from all of the staff who have kept the doors open. The 1 Star is for this location only. I needed to cancel my membership because the class times weren't working with my schedule and I had started to go to the regular gym whenever I could instead. I had called to ask how far in advance did I need to cancel and the girl on the phone told me as long as I did it before my next bill date I was all set. Okay, great. I came in a week before my bill date to fill out the form in person-they had just ran out of forms and their printer broke-so the girl emailed it to me to fill out and send back no problem (pictured). I was then still charged for the next month. When I called I was finally able to speak to a manager who said if I didn't know who told me that he couldn't do anything since it's in the initial contract that it takes 30 days to cancel. I fully understand there are cancellation rules for every gym-hence me calling to ask in the first place. What is unacceptable is two different times I was told I would not be billed for the next month. Typical "gym" service.

I go once every week or two and love how the class complements my other workouts. Classes are always challenging and every class is different. Some days there is a lot of rowing, other days there are incline runs, sometimes it's two long blocks of cardio and strength, while other days bring more back and forth between the two. I love Wendy's classes but I took Raymond's class for the first time last week and really loved it. His instruction was so clear and his playlist was on point! He announced to the class that the Moorestown and Cherry Hill locations would be merging, which means a bigger variety of instructors, which I enjoy. Everyone runs the class differently so it's fun to mix things up. The front desk staff is always so friendly and helpful; this location truly feels like a community, even though I only get there every so often. For me, it's worth crossing the bridge for a workout that will kick my butt and get my endorphins pumping!

The good: Very big and nice facilities with amazing great variety of equipment. A TON of group fitness classes if you're into that including free reformer Pilates classes (if you can get in.) Issues (that are unacceptable in general or just completely insane to have at the membership price point...these are things you deal with a budget gym or someplace you go for free): Constant elevator issues which cause lines and long wait times during peak hours. And for the last 6+ months they've only had two of three functioning if that. You know it's an issue, fix it for goodness sakes. Good luck if you rely on parking here. The entrance are closed half the time causing you to have to detour for a good ten plus minutes to get in and then exiting you're stuck behind trucks delivering in the alley they've left "open" for you to get out. And yes the validate but they randomly increased the price from $11 to $12 one day. Not a huge deal but why not tell members in advance? It's just sloppy. The sound systems are suboptimal for group classes especially in the HIIT studio. It is a vibe killer for sure. The spa that we were promising was coming soon when we joined in November of 2023 is still nowhere to be found. The locker rooms are adequately maintained but there are so many privacy issues. Often there are signs that there will be men working in the women's locker room. And the phone use is NUTS. People are on video conference calls! How is this allowed?? The cafe hours stink for early birds. If I'm done with my workout before 7am and I want coffee, I'm SOL. It's also insanely expensive. I cannot speak for the food there because I won't eat it after I saw a mouse in the cafe area while I was working from there one day. Treadmills are constantly broken. They added a bunch and now there's somehow less available because they cannot seem to maintain them. Out of service for a day or two is one thing but it goes way longer than that. Good luck and Godspeed accessing an assault bike or a ski erg between 10:15 and 2pm on weekdays. They're fully monopolized by the turf class and the HIIT studio is used for classes including mat Pilates (??) Generally speaking maintenance seems to be an issue. A pedal was hanging off one of the two assault bikes on the main floor this week when I was using it. A tread was sticking a few weeks ago when I started to run on it. I couldn't strap my foot into a rower the other day. It doesn't seem like it would be too much to ask that they keep their eye on this. I do feel like it used to be under control but had fallen off a cliff recently. Too many people here are shooting footage for social media. I cannot complete a workout without being concerned I'm in the background of someone's selfie-video or photo shoot. Hotel guests have full access to the gym. It adds to the insane crowds on the weekend and needs to get in check. Many of the trainers and instructors are great but a handful of trainers that either do personal training or turf classes are flat out RUDE. I was treated disrespectfully and even bullied by one of them while minding my own business just trying to complete my workout. This is embarrassing for the gym and needs to be addressed. Ultimately, I could no longer justify being a paying member with so little care shown by management about the member experience. Perhaps spending less time posting less on social media and more time listening to an addressing member feedback would be helpful.

No outlets under the table in the library? Come on guys. Get a power strip or something please. Outlets by more seats on the 3rd floor mezzanine and terrace would be game changing! Please
