I signed up at the Memorial location after my first service because it was so great, and I'm delighted to find out that my membership is also accepted at the Sugar Land location. I've had my hair done by several different ladies and happy to report that I've had great service each time. The ladies are efficient and skillful. My hair comes out beautiful each time. I don't know why I keep giving this place a chance. I guess I very much want it to succeed so that there is an option locally for wash and style services. But it's just a bad experience every time. I hate to leave negative reviews but geez get it together! The people there have zero skills - the curls are weak at best. Revolving door of staff. I had to redo my hair when I got home! This review is a serious warning to anyone with African-American hair, African kinky hair, coily hair, or highly textured curly hair: please think twice before booking services here. Based on my experience, this salon clearly does not have the knowledge, technique, or experience necessary to properly work with these hair textures. I booked two appointments for my daughters at Blo Blow Dry Bar in Sugar Land, Texas for basic wash-and-blowout services. Before booking, I clearly noted in the appointment comments that my daughters have African kinky/coily hair textures. Prior to the appointment, the salon called and asked whether I could come earlier because they were unsure if the stylists would be able to complete the service within the scheduled timeframe due to my daughters' hair texture. Although I explained that I work until 5 PM, I still rearranged my schedule and came earlier so they could assess my daughters' hair beforehand. When we arrived, I again specifically asked whether the stylists had experience working with African textured hair. One stylist even asked to touch my daughter's hair to feel the texture before beginning. After examining their hair, I was told they may need to charge additional fees for extended styling time, including flat ironing and curling. I clarified multiple times that I was NOT requesting styling, curls, or flat ironing because my daughters were getting braids a couple of days later. I only requested a simple wash-and-blow-dry service. The stylist then reassured me that, since we only needed wash-and-blow-dry services, extended timing likely would not be necessary. I arrived at approximately 5:05 PM. My first daughter was taken back around 5:15 PM, and my second daughter approximately 10-15 minutes later. Both services were completed within less than 45 minutes before the discussion about additional charges came up. At no point was I clearly informed that additional charges would definitely apply. I was only told they would "let me know" if extra time became necessary. After the appointments were completed, I was unexpectedly charged an additional $15 per child for "extended blow drying." The final results absolutely did not reflect the price charged. For approximately $70 per child for a basic wash-and-blow-dry service that lasted barely 45 minutes, I expected significantly better results and far more experience handling textured hair. What made the experience even more disappointing was how uncomfortable and demeaning the overall interaction felt. We regularly visit other salons, including Cherry Blow Dry Bar, and have never experienced this level of discomfort or lack of professionalism regarding our hair texture. At one point, after seeing the final results, I genuinely asked the stylist whether she was proud of the work completed because the outcome did not reflect the pricing, the added fees, or the level of service we were promised. See attached photos of what approximately $70 per child looked like after a basic wash-and-blow-dry appointment. The photos speak for themselves. I also have time-stamped iPhone photos confirming both my visit and the condition of my daughters' hair immediately after the service, before anyone attempts to dispute that we were there. My issue is not simply the additional charge. It is the lack of transparency, the disappointing results, and the feeling that my concerns were not taken seriously despite communicating everything clearly upfront before the appointment. If a salon is not experienced with textured African hair, it is completely acceptable to say so honestly before accepting appointments, charging families additional fees, and delivering subpar results. Customers deserve transparency, professionalism, honesty, and respectful treatment. read more

I've recently visited this Blow Dry Bar three times in the last 10 days. I had surgery and was unable to shower and a friend suggested a blow dry bar. What a good idea! A sponge bath and then I headed in to get my hair washed. I have had two different women wash my hair. They were good and did what I asked. I didn't need a "style" for my hair since I am at home recovering from surgery. They did rough dry my hair for me. Porche did my shampoo the first two times and she was great. I don't remember the other woman's name but she also did a very good job. The facilities are clean and hardly anyone is in there during the week, so lots of room to spread out. The appointment was kept on time, actually I arrived early and they took we early, which was great! I do wish they offered a wash only and not a blow dry and style. I get that it is a blow dry bar but the stylists indicated several people come there for just a blow dry. If that's true, it would be nice to offer just a blow dry. It's an expensive wash and rough dry. I absolutely appreciate the service and it was a lifesaver for me post-surgery, but I would like that other option if possible. To be fair, Yedelis gave me a very nice blowout and did not hurt my tender head at all. I would recommend her! Absolutely! My following review is more toward the company, not her as a stylist at all. (Just make sure to watch the clock, because if you don't want extended time you may get charged for it.) I understand that, but would like to be notified or given an option. What was most frustrating about this business is that when I had my membership, I racked up credits that I was going to roll over. Unfortunately those disappeared. I should have read the 90 day policy in detail, but it does mean that the months I didn't come twice (or at all), I basically paid extra..so that sucks. Defeats the point of getting savings from having a membership... Also, they do not have a secretary, so when I tried to warn the salon I was not feeling well in a previous visit..I did not get through to anyone. I tried texting as well as voicemail. I tested positive for Covid that day and sent in photo evidence, but was still charged the full amount. Did I mention I also thought I would be able to use my credit for that? Should I have gone in and infected everyone? Lastly, be prepared to not get who you book with. I have teared up from pain repeatedly with a stylist I kept getting stuck with. I always tried booking with someone else, but had no luck until my last and final experience with them. Yedelis was great for my tender head during my final visit. If you are going to use your membership, stay on top of their policies (even if it changes), are not tender headed (or don't mind not getting who you booked with rather), and don't plan on ever getting sick, then this is great spot for you. read more

I was so impressed with the above and beyond service I received from Odalisa, I had to share. My appointment took place in March 2023 with Odalisa. Here's how she went above and beyond - she asked if I wanted my hair curled with a curling iron afterwards and I said no because I wanted to lessen the amount of heat applied to my hair to reduce overall damage. So... after she blow dried each section of hair, she quickly pinned up the bottom of my hair as if it were pinned up in a curler. She explained that since she just applied heat, pinning it up as a curl as it cools will enable it to curl without the aid of a curling iron. Genius! It worked. A straight blow out typically takes 40 minutes. Odalisa's took an extra 10 minutes but incredibly worth it. The curls remained for 2 days. Thank you so much Odalisa. You do beautiful work! read more

Normally I'm not the kind of person to take the time to write a review but I'm so frustrated. Came to this place to have some self care time but I'm leaving so disappointed. The girl who did my hair not only was rough while washing it but also wet my entire sweater and bra. I asked kindly for her to put my sweater in the dryer but the swear o got was "I will dry you with the blower". Of course that wasn't enough. I scheduled an appointment to get a blowout and braids. I had previously spoken with someone who quoted me 65$ for this service at an event in the Kendra Scott at Sugarland. When I showed up to my appointment apparently the person I was scheduled with cannot braid so she tells me another girl can do my hair. At this point i was confused because i scheduled with this person because she could braid (which was my main interest when booking). I ended up paying 91$ for my blowout and 4 braids that honestly I could have done myself. The next day I receive a text from the company to rate the service, which i gave a 1. The day after that I get a call from the salon asking to explain what happened. After I explained the lady I spoke with told me that the reason I did not get a 'braider' was because the person that braids was out that whole week and her appointments were moved to another person. She offered a $5 discount which I told her no because I would not want to go back there after I was not communicated of the schedule change which reflects poor costumer service from them. She then promised a call back after she speaks to her manager.. Its been 3 weeks and I have yet to receive a call from her or anyone in the salon. The issues with my appointment was; One, that they failed to communicate with me that the person I was scheduled with was not working (which they knew from days before my appointment). Two, I paid more than what I was told when I had a consultation. Three; after the issue was made aware to the staff, they still failed to follow up. I am extremely upset with the way I was treated here. I would have cancelled my appointment if i was made aware that my scheduled stylist was off and all of this would have been avoided. I do not live in Sugarland. I drove from far to this place because of what I was 'promised'. I would not ever go back to this place not even for "5$ off" which honestly was an insult. read more

Poor experience. Poorly run business. 1. I had a scheduled appt for 5:30pm, I showed up for this at 5:28pm 2. There was one employee present, and this person was working on the one sole customer's hair, and she asked me to take a seat and wait. 3. Around 5:40pm, 10 minutes after my scheduled appt, I politely mentioned to the employee that I had an engagement at 6:30pm, and that I had to be done with my blow dry and out the door by 6:15pm 4. The employee assured me that this was achievable and that she "would be right with me" 5. This was hard for me to believe b/c it was obvious that the employee still had a quite a bit of work to do on the customer she was working on, but taking the employee at her word, I waited 6. At around 5:55pm, I noticed that the employee was just starting to put curlers in the customer's hair, and it was clear that there was no way she would be done in time to both start and finish my hair by my 6:15pm cut-off time. 7. At this point, after having been mislead by this employee multiple times, I had grown frustrated (as any human would have). I stated that it was "ridiculous and retarded" that I had not been seen at my scheduled appt time, but that beyond that, it was obvious the employee was leading me along with false promises and reassurances that she would get to me and have me done in time. It was clear to anyone that this was impossible. I asked to speak to the Manager. 8. The employee called the Manager -- a Mr. Thomas -- and [likely deliberately] started crying, claiming that I had called her "retarded." This was a lie. While I did use the word "retarded," I was obviously referring to the situation, not to the employee. Was that an ideal word for me to use? No, but I am human, and I by this time I had been mislead by the employee multiple times, and I did. But again, I did not call the employee that. Anyone who is competent in the English language would know this. But this shrewd employee put on quite a show for Mr. Thomas, and lied to him, stating that I called her retarded. 9. Mind you, my husband and I both run independent businesses, and we have 80 employees between us. We know how to talk to, how to listen to, and most importantly how to interpret what our employees tell us, and take this is with a grain of salt. A prudent employer would have listened to the employee's side of the story, and then, in an unbiased manner, listened to the customer's side. 10. This is not what Mr. Thomas did. He bought this yarn that the employee spun for him hook, line, and sinker. This was an obvious ploy by the employee to fool the employer... i.e. she was focusing on the word "retarded"+her crocodile tears, lying that I called her that, so she could distract from the root cause of the problem, which was the fact that not only was she not ready for my scheduled 5:30pm appt, but that she repeatedly gave me false assurances that she would get to me soon and get me done by 6:15pm. THAT was the main issue that Mr. Thomas should have focused on. 11. Unfortunately, Mr. Thomas got taken for a ride by this employee of his, and guess what he did? Over the phone, he rudely told me over the phone "Do you want to tell me how to run my business??" and "Do you want me to call the police??" I remained call, polite, and professional the entire time. 12. This was wholly inappropriate and unprofessional by Mr. Thomas the Manager. 13. I left, hair undone, stressed and late for my 6:30pm meeting. This was my first and last experience with this establishment. The degree of egregiousness by first the employee, and then by the "manager" was astonishing. It is worth noting that even during the usually busy time for 5-6p, this place was a ghost town... one [inept] employee, and one customer. It looks like we aren't the only ones who have had a bad experience here. I find solace in the fact that the free market punishes businesses like this. I would bet money that they will be out of business in the not-to-distant future. Apparently this is a franchise, and I have forwarded this review and experience to their corporate offices. I run a franchise business myself, and I would for sure want to know if one of my franchisees handled this situation like Mr. Thomas did. It is worth noting that initially my husband posted this exact same review on my behalf, clearly stating that it was on my behalf. First "Phincy" one of the business owners responded to that review stating "We do not tolerate customers abusing employees." This is a laughable misrepresentation of what occurred, and it is Phincy's attempt to straw man the argument. I would urge anyone reading this to stay away. We are fortunate in that we have choices here in America, we should reward good businesses with good customer service with our patronage. This is not the USSR where there is only one of everything and we don't have a choice. Choose not to go to this place, as we are. Thank you for reading. read more
