I decided to give this salon another try and it was not pleasant . My stylist did not speak english and it was very difficult to get across what I want done . I hated my hair. I didn't want to keep repeating myself to someone whom could not understand me. Makes you wonder what type of suspicious business they're running . The blo-out was good, however the make-up and hairdo were not. I came to blo-out bella for hair and makeup for a wedding. I left with lipstick smudged on my face and no mascara on my blonde eyelashes. The makeup that was used was old and not organized. The mascara that was attempted to be put on was all dried out, but she put it on anyway (with the wand that had been used on everyone else as well). Clearly it was gone, but she didnt even let me know. When I got to my car in the sunlight I saw the lipstick smudges around my lips and the lack of mascara on my eyelashes. In previous experiences when you pay $65 for makeup its supposed to last all night, hence paying that much money. The lipstick that was on my lips was gone within 30 minutes. I was told I should go to cvs and buy a similar color. I did have to go to cvs and buy lipstick, but I also had to buy mascara and eyeliner to do it myself. The hairdo was so bad I had to take it out and redo it myself as well. It was not at all what I asked for but I did not have time to have her redo the whole thing as I only had 1.5hrs to get everything done and when I saw what it looked like it was too late. I thought this was plenty of time when I booked the appointment. I thought I was making my day less stressful by having professionals handle my hair and makeup but instead I ended up rushing around and fixing a problem I paid $180 for. I am very disappointed in my experience at Blo-out Bella.... if up-dos and makeup are not your forte than you should remove those services from your website. read more

I needed a place to do my hair and make up for my small informal wedding. As I was coming from out of town, I booked this off of the yelp reviews and also, they were close to my location. I had a good experience with make-up. I don't remember the MUA's name but she did a really nice job and used higher end make up products such as MAC, Tarte, etc. My mom is hard to please, and she was really happy with her make-up. My hair was ok, but they worked hard to get it right and I very much appreciated the effort. Everything turned out as good as it possibly could have given that it was booked basically blind. read more

Called in and asked for price of their most affordable blow out. Was quoted 35 and booked my appointment. At the end of my appointment they decided to charge me 55 dollars because my hair is long! Wish they would have been upfront about the cost or I would have driven a bit further to the place I normally go which charges me 35. I also requested less product because my hair tends to get greasy which they ignored and continued to apply it anyway saying that it would protect my hair from the heat but I think he used it because it makes the dry time quicker since he didn't seem to care much about my hair judging by the way he literally ripped my hair out brushing it until I asked him to stop. This place was not at all what i expected! I went for a wedding last time i was in a wedding and was shocked when the woman offered to add curl to my hair and then charged me an additional fee for the curls when i went to check out... i paid for a blow out. That should include a style. Everywhere else it does. This should be more clear to customers. Note that after the experience i ended up redoing my hair myself when i got home... so a total waster! Since this experience i have taken my business to the drybar in Cary! So sad because this place is convenient! read more

The blow out was super quick (30ish minutes for someone who has super thick hair), all done with a round brush and one of the best blow outs I've had in Durham. So, today was my 2nd time here. First time, had a great experience. This time, not so much. First, I got there at 9am because they claim to accept walk-ins. The young lady tells me she will not have an appt slot open until 11:30. I decide to accept the appt based on my great previous experience. I hung around the area for the next 1 & 1/2hrs..only to NOT see hardly anyone walk in or out of the salon. When I came back for my appt, there was absolutely NO ONE else there but me. Kinda hard to believe they were soo "packed" for me to have to wait so long. Second, my blow out was just "okay." The girl that did my hair did not completely blow out my roots, and not even 2hrs later my roots were back to being puffy and hair was frizzy. She didn't even style it like normal with soft pin-curls, nothing. Just a lousy blow out on my African-American natural hair. Doubt I will be returning any time soon. read more

Jenny was really nice, but she burnt my scalp! My scalp has never hurt so much during and after a blow dry!! But my hair looks good.

Jenny is great! I had a so-so experience there last year with a different stylist and hadn't been back. I decided to give it a try again and I am so happy I did. Jenny blew out my hair with the brush then went over a little with the flat iron to give it some extra shape and I left with a straight, shiny, soft blow out that last for days! She is also fast, in and out in about an hour. read more

Informally greeted and led to the chair to have my hair washed. The girl washing my hair made zero conversation, was very rough scratching my scalp, and washed my hair with shampoo 3 or 4 times (I honestly lost count after 30 min) for some unknown reason. The place was seriously understaffed with no one to answer the phone that kept ringing unless a stylist left a client they were working on. Another stylist took over since mine was being so slow, who promised to get my blow dry done in 30 min. This stylist was much friendlier, but got so close to my scalp with the blow dryer that I was physically uncomfortable. It also fried my hair and I now have breakaway hairs all over. This was my first blowout and I only blow dry my hair 2x/wk max, so it wasn't like that before I got there. My scalp is so irritated from the rough wash and heat damage. My hair looked good enough, but I don't think I'll be returning. Very disappointing since it's so close to home for me. Also, the piano jazz music that was playing really screamed "amateur hour" as if the rest of my experience hadn't already proved it. read more

This place is really nice and everyone is really friendly, BUT I felt so swindled! I only heard of the place because of a groupon I bought for a blow-out. The groupon didn't mean anything because they charged me an extra $30 because they said my hair was "dense" which was not stated up front. "Dense" is such a subjective term, they really should tell people up front. I have always been told I have thin hair so I was really upset about this extra charge. I love this place. I have now had 3 blow outs and all have been fabulous! My favorite part is how flexible they are with appointments. I have two kids at home and it is often hard to plan a few days in advance. Here I can get appointments same day and have it down FAST so I can get back to work/kids. At Blo-Out Bella, I can make an appointment an hour in advance - such a bonus! Paige does a fantastic job and my blow outs last for up to 4 or 5 days. Amazing place not only beautiful but the most welcoming hair salon I have ever been in. The quality of the stylist is awesome they listen and then exceed your expectations time and time again. I scheduled an appointment for a blow out with slight waves, but that's not what I got. The woman who began doing my hair was lovely in every way, very nice, and polite, but I don't think she was a hair stylist. Perhaps she was a student? I have medium length hair and I arrived with freshly washed, wet hair. She tried to section and clip my hair up but the clip kept falling. She was clipping it up incorrectly. So she just let it hang on my shoulders and began to twist my wet hair on a round brush with a blow dryer and struggled to make pin curls on my head. 38 minutes into my appointment she had created three pin curls on my head and I touched the loose hair that she was unable to clip up and realized my hair was starting to dry. Why wasn't she blow drying my hair and smoothing it out nicely with a round brush? While she was struggling to pin the curls on my head another stylist ordered her to fetch water for someone. I wondered if she was not a stylist but instead a receptionist. I thought it was very rude to have my "stylist" go fetch water for someone in the middle of doing my hair especially when she was struggling so much. After I looked at the time on my phone I realized I had to leave the salon. I had an event to attend and I knew that this woman was going to need at least 2 hours to do whatever she was doing to my hair. I told her all I wanted was a blow out with some light waves. I asked why she wasn't blowing out my hair...her response? "We do things differently here." I guess a blow out means something different at Blow-Out Bella. I do not feel the staff at this salon are skilled or properly trained. I went in on a Saturday at 10 am and it was dead quiet, there were only two other clients there and many empty chairs. I do not recommend this place and have a hard time believing the positive reviews are real. I went home, washed my hair and dried it myself. I didn't end up having the smooth bouncy waves I had hoped for but at least now I know not to count on this salon ever again. Next time I need my hair to look great, I'll go to a real salon. read more
