I stumbled into this shop accidentally. The owner was SO sweet. I wanted flowers from a flower shop instead of HEB because I was going to take them to my mom at the cemetery. She was sooo nice and welcoming. She put together a beautiful bouquet thinking of the color and longevity outside for my mom. I was about to leave and she knew I didn't have a vase so she looked for an old vase she had and put in a box with water so I could leave at the cemetery for my mom. She also gave me three sticks to put in the ground to help secure the vase. The owner is also a dog lover and gave my little dog a ball to play with and take home. Its gestures like these that help me keep going through such a hard time in my life. The number "1" shown in photo is what I chose to use as the focal point of a baby's 1st birthday cake. My original idea was to have it simply covered in white fondant but no professional baker in my area was able to do so for whatever reason, so I decided I would have it covered in flowers instead. I went to Blomma for help. The owner was very welcoming. When I explained it was for a cake, she asked questions such as "boy or girl?" (Girl) "event time?" (same day) "pictures of my cake?" (I did not have) I told her that I was going to leave it in her hands. I asked that it be multi-color, but I did not request any particular flowers. I was expecting any florist to rush it all and throw whatever together, but the owner here did take her time putting this together. She wanted it to be perfect just as much as I wanted it to be. Being that she was not able to use flowers on the sides as they would obviously protrude and distort the number from the front, she used satin ribbon on the sides of the number so that none of the white styrofoam was showing. I was amazed at how beautifully it turned out. Even though it was obviously beautiful, she asked me if it was ok. She wanted to be sure I was happy. And I was. Thank You. All right, so I wasn't the most enthusiastic about wedding flowers. In particular, I wasn't keen on excessively splurging on floral arrangements and bouquets because I've just never been much of a flowers gal. I mean, how many orchids have I killed now? Five? I've also killed at least three cacti from overwatering them. I ended up ordering the table centerpiece flowers online and simply relied on Yelp, last minute, to pull up listings of reliable local florists for the wedding bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. I spoke with Kim, specifying that I needed flowers that preserved well (mother-in-law insisted I do this) and were as close to blue as possible. Kim informed me that blue/navy (one of my wedding colors) was difficult to come across, especially in January, how about violet orchids (uh oh orchids!)? Evidently they do preserve well so I was fine with that suggestion. Violet and cream/white seemed like a reasonable color scheme to me and I trusted Kim to figure out the rest. I gave Kim my credit card information over the phone and specified a date and time for pick up. My sister-in-law retrieved the floral goodies and they turned out magnificently lovely. Simple, but elegant, which is precisely what I was aiming for. Perhaps Kim picked up on that with my inability to provide her with concrete "musts." Furthermore, yes the price was quite nice and my bouquet did preserve quite nicely as well! read more
