Great for us: travelers looking for some great take-out food (due to COVID) from a local place. Yeah, my wife freaked about the trophy heads (I HAD prepped her beforehand, but...) and it was more than a little off-putting in November 2020 to have a full bar of folks eating/drinking without masks, but we asked for local flavor and we got it - not for us to judge. They didn't seem to, either. Did have the best beer I've had in a long time and the food was great and still warm by the time we got back to our place. The Yelp! menu is years-old by now so go to their website, many things have changed and prices up $2-3 across the board, but all to be expected. Went there last night with a group of 6 -- 4 adults and 2 kids. We got there about 6:20 pm, and there were a few other occupied tables, but the place was far from full. The waitress was nice but obviously overwhelmed and busy, as she was the only one servicing tables. It took us over 5 minutes to get noticed, almost 10 minutes to get drinks, plus 5 more minutes for the 2 of us who didn't get our drinks the first time. Food (3 steak dinners, 1 salad, 1 burger and a kid's quesadilla) took about 35 minutes to get to our table after ordering. Don't get me wrong -- the food was delicious, and that's the ONLY reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. Plus, the steak dinners were supposed to come with soup or salad (which was ordered at the time everyone's orders were placed), but they were never brought out. Was going to say something but by that point we were strapped for time. If service had been more thorough, we definitely would've been happier! read more

Rolled through town one night while on a road trip throughout Colorado. After doing some happy hour searches on Yelp, we made this a stop on our mini bar crawl through Cortez. We sat at the bar and had a friendly conversation with the bartender. From what I recall, she was the only one behind the bar-- and maybe on the entire floor-- handling orders and waiting on customers. That was kind of hectic but she handled it well and we understood that sometimes scheduling just doesn't work out in everyone's favor. My mom and I split a Deep Eddy bucket and it was soooo good! There were some families in the large booths with kiddos running around, so I'd say it's a good place if Mom or Dad need a drink. Fun little divey place that really felt like a good local stop in Cortez. read more

With only 22 Yelp reviews, and a salesperson at the trading post who wouldn't recommend it, we were a bit worried about breaking our streak of finding great little places on our trip to Colorado. The streak continues. We ordered the pork wings and the Navajo Burger to share. I don't know what a pork wing is, exactly, but it does have a small bone in the middle. There is a lot of meat on each one and the dish comes with six. I would ask for only green chili sauce - the barbecue and teriyaki are nowhere near as good. The Navajo burger is served on fry bread with green chili on top. The burger was seasoned well and cooked perfectly, and the green chili was flavorful with just enough bite. The pub fries have a coating we couldn't identify, but they were tasty. The iced tea was fresh brewed and delicious. I highly recommend stopping here on the way through town. read more

Stopped for lunch with the family while traveling from Durango to Arizona. We arrived with a hungry party of 11 and our waiter/bartender "AP" welcomed us with a friendly smile. I had the Navajo taco "half order" which war plenty of food for one person. It was perfectly fried with delicious green chili on top. The Navajo burger was also cooked to perfection. Wow. I never expected the food here to be SO good. Been on a road trip from Los Angeles through Colorado and this is the best meal we've had in a week. Seriously! The atmosphere is super casual but they have fun live music and the staff is amazing. Get the steak or a burger, plus the fried pickles. I went there today for lunch, ordered a green chili Navajo Taco. It was made quickly and I was surprised , because the last couple of times I had one there it took a bit longer to make. OH well , I'm very hungry. There was a navajo taco with what appeared to be all the fixings. Upon eating it though, it was lacking beans and meat?! I ordered one back in May there and it had these ingredients on it. Being hungry (late lunch) I ate it.. and didn't complain. I should have. The general vibe was of "you aren't a local here" and service towards me was totally indifferent as a result. I also had a red chile navajo taco there previously and it had beans and meat on it. I won't be going there again, lesson learned. If you aren't a local or some cute chick you are going to get sub-par service . I felt cheated spending $11 on this minimal navajo taco - they could at least told me they didn't have it all together the ingredients made up today and I would have ordered something else, but they didn't. They just assumed I was a total idiot or something. Not a good experience at all for me eating there today. The third time going there is the last time I go there. I'm sure though if you are a local you will get better service though. read more

They have a great Navajo taco! Desmond makes awesome green chili! They have Stella Cidre on tap which is very hard to find and is one of my favorite drinks! They also have a wide variety of bottled beers...and as someone who lives in Durango I love that I can find things here that I would never see at any of the bars there! read more

Visiting from out of town and heard this was the place to eat. We were not disappointed. The nachoes grande were delicious and the serving was huge. They were accommodating for our special request of having a hamburger on fry bread and my husband said it was delicious. Great service and fun atmosphere. We came for dinner on the 20th of June and were so happy. I had eaten here a few years prior and remember enjoying the Ruben burger. I wasn't disappointed this time either. I have visited this place many times for the past 2 years when I am in town. I can honestly say that from the management down, this is one of the WORST establishments in town. No business sense, no knowledge on how to grow and establish a good customer base. You know, things like good service, consistent food quality, this place is bad in every way. No attention to service, bartenders are usually too busy texting or chatting among themselves, I have witnessed sooooo many missed opportunities to give good service. We drove quite a distance to go to Cortez because Utah is "dry" dead and boring. We ended up at Angels - much better bar - but we stopped at Blondies since it's the only bar listed on Yelp and we had not found Angels. It's a HUGE place with a second entire pool table hall attached. We did not eat so we can't speak to the food because the bar maid said the kitchen was closed, even though everyone in the place was just served - so clearly we could have had a bite of something- even chips and salsa. Which brings me to the reason for the 1 star. I wish I had caught her name - dark haired bar maid - waitress. She is one of those people who would probably be best served by being unemployed. It is remarkable that people with the sullen, surly, and frankly rude attitude have jobs in service industries. There were TWO other complaints about her demeanor from paying customers, "why are you so grumpy" and "how about a smile just one" - she did not even acknowledge either remark. I would be surprised if this place stays in business as a bar if it continues to employ such cretins as front of house staff. She just sucked the energy out of the place. If you want a good time, fun bar with friendly staff go to Angels around the corner. read more

Under new management the food is pretty tasty. I got a turkey burger and bear battered fries. The meal was good. It never really seems to be a busy place and its a little weird eating underneath taxidermied animals but that's what you get with a small town. I would eat here again but probably pick a different table spot. read more

I've only gone in here on evenings when there is music, and while I think it's great to have live music to listen to, I have never been able to get any sort of food service and only able to get a drink by going up to the bar to order. Nicole, our server, provided excellent service with a very friendly and courteous attitude. We also enjoyed the Trophy-style potato skins. Great small town bar with outdoorsman/ hunter atmosphere. Service was super. My 4/H burger was a 1/2 lb hand formed cert. Angus patty cooked juicy, a kielbasa sausage and sauerkraut, a tangy german mustard, thick sharp cheddar and all the fixings on a large, soft bun, grilled in butter. Hard to eat but I managed. Came with a choice of sides on a large square plate. My wife ordered the chicken cobb salad. and sweet potato fries. Interesting large irregular bowl with wonderful presentation and taste. She could not finish it. My side salad was beautiful with very fresh cucumber, onion, chopped tomato, carrots with baby kale. Oh my, a treat. Again the presentation was excellent. You will enjoy the atmosphere and don't let the outward appearance fool you. The food is worthy of at least four stars. With candles, linen and waiters in ties, the food would be worth 50% more. My only wish is that I could come back for some of the specials. Tonight was all you can eat prime rib, potato, vegetable, bread, 15.99. I witnessed the plating.
