    Pistachios Basque Cake
    Eda X.

Bloom Bakery & Cake offers a variety of house-made Asian desserts and milk tea in the heart of Memphis downtown. I cannot be more thrilled to try their basque cakes! I personally prefer their Earl Grey basque cake as it's the most fresh and have a molten center compared to the Pistachios basque cake. Highly recommend you ask what was baked last for a more liquid center. The two servers here were very welcoming and happy to make recommendations or answer questions you may have. Stop on by to try a pastry and milk tea!

    Pistachio Cheesecake

Adorable bakery with a great selection of pastries. My favorites are the cream and strawberry-filled croissant and the pistachio cheesecake. The croissant looks heavy but is surprisingly light, midly sweet, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. The pistachio cheesecake has rich pistachio flavor that's really pleasant -it may be a bit overwhelming for one person, so I'd encourage you to share it or save half for later. You'll like the cheesecake if you go into the experience not expecting a traditional cheesecake. It's decorated so nice, like a tumblr-esque cafe. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I love this place and will be back again to try the drinks.

Sunrise Memphis did not disappoint. We stopped in around 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and didn't experience any crowds or much of a lunch rush. That being said, after eating here, I completely understand why people mention waiting hours on weekends. The ordering process is simple: walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a number, and seat yourself. I appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch all day because it meant we didn't have to choose between the two. I ordered the chicken tenders with tater tots and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere. The colorful Memphis touches throughout the restaurant gave it so much personality, and there was even a bar area that made me think this would be an absolute blast for brunch with friends. Sunrise Memphis ended up being one of our favorite surprises of the entire drive. If you're passing through town, do yourself a favor and stop here.

A step inside at the same time the counter guy hollered back to let the cooks know a graduation was about to begin so "expect to be busy soon" confirmed that fact! You order at the counter and are given a number for your table and your food is delivered with a smile and some casual southern hospitality banter. This place is quirky with its decor but on point with the food. Get the bacon! Always get the bacon! I'm still dreaming about it! Be warned! We were told during busy times, the line stretches around the building for a steady 8hrs at a time! May the timing of your visit ever be in your favor!

We asked the concierge and she suggested two options of coffee shop and chess club. My granddaughter decided on chess club. When you first walked in the door, it's a nice cozy, rustic floor, wooden floor, and nice artifacts everywhere and the tables were amazing cause they were designed for chess players. There were some nice sitting comfort chairs and everything looked very historic like the Memphis area. They had an array of sandwiches and salads and pizza and coffees and desserts with the cookies and the brownies. If you just want to curl up and read a good book and have a snack, this is the best place. The service was fantastic. They were very accommodating and very patient with our incisions with all the fantastic choices they provided. Well, I ordered the delicious chicken sandwich and my granddaughter ordered the Smashburger. She ate that burger so fast I was still working on the lettuce. LOL the food was delicious. She ordered a brownie, and I had a chocolate chip cookie and they tasted homemade. She would barely give me a piece of her brownie to taste. So if you're looking for a very good relaxing, caring, engaging, aesthetically, pleasing, and great customer service. Even if you're not eating and you just wanna play chess or cards or any of the other games or books that they had available. Just come take a break and enjoy. I will be back when I'm in Memphis again.

All of the tables have chess boards which is cool, and they had chess streaming on the tv. We just came for coffee, but I'd come back to play board games. It's $5 to rent games, which is reasonable. I wouldn't bring my own games to play there as it still $5 to play your own games. Next time I'll have to try the food!
