I love this place so much and Krista is a hair GODDESS. I haven't had a haircut in about a decade because of health and anxiety reasons and decided to take the step and my fiancé reached out to figure out how to set an appointment for me because I was a little overwhelmed by the choices online. They said they could have me in for a consultation same day and after the consultation we made an appointment for me to do my hair with Krista. Oh my goodness. Any anxiety I had went away immediately when I walked to the shop and Krista waved hi to me. Honestly one of the warmest sweetest people I've had the pleasure of meeting AND she is a master of hair magic. She communicated with me throughout, made sure I was happy and comfortable, and let me know what was happening while she was doing my hair. Y'all, I am beyond amazed and impressed with how everything turned out. I have really thick unruly curly hair in my opinion and she tamed it and styled it and I already know even after I wash my hair and do my natural curls, it's going to look amazing. She checked in with me to make sure that the color was what I wanted and when the first time wasn't as vibrant as I wanted she helped me adjust until I was satisfied. Honestly this was the greatest experience I've had this year, if not my whole life with hair. I am so happy with my recent experience at Bloom. I had an 80s themed 50th birthday party last Saturday and Kathy did my hair. Beforehand she and Ben asked for photos samples of what I hoped to achieve. They responded quickly with "we got this!" Kathy was so thoughtful and calming with the process. I really REALLY really hate how my hair looks after todays session. It is not me at all. This is my second time back this month. The first time this month my hair turned out amazing! My hair is naturally straight virgin Asian hair. I need my hair pinned as my hair is getting the round brush blow out. Today the stylist insisted on using a hot round iron. It turns out I do not like the artificial super curled tip looks at the end of my hair for curling iron. It looks too harsh. My hair has ZERO volume on the crown of my head. Getting the full treatment of hair and makeup for a milestone event is stressful. For the artist and the recipient. You want it to go right because all eyes are on you and the photos will last forever. For my daughter's graduation we decided to splurge on the hair/makeup treatment for 2 events. The first time it didn't go well. The hair fell in an hour and the makeup was goopy with eyelashes crooked eventually falling. I called Bloom and they offered for us to return to fix it, unfortunately we could not as we only had an hour before the event. We removed most of the makeup and repaired it the best we could. We had an appointment for the following morning and nearly cancelled, but they listened to our concerns so we decided against our better judgement to keep the appointment. They also reduced the service fee. We are thrilled we kept the appointment. My daughter was glowing and so happy with the results. She seriously looked stunning and the hair/makeup lasted until late into the night. The hair had movement but the curls were intact. The makeup enhanced features, but still had dimension. Called Bloom Blow Dry hoping for a last minute appointment and got lucky! April had an opening available for 3pm that afternoon and I was seated as soon as I entered. I have mid length hair and within 45 mins she washed it twice and gave me a beautiful round brush blowout! My hair felt so soft and bouncy. For mid length hair blowouts are $59- pretty comp for a blowout in SF. There's metered parking around the corner- would definitely give yourself enough time to find a spot. What a gorgeous space! The location is beautiful and immaculately kept. The front desk is friendly, and they make sure to email you reminders about your appointment. The real standouts are the stylists - it was hard to choose one from the great reviews. I ended up booking with Jeanette Caballero. She is fabulous and professional. When I showed her photos of the styles I was looking at for my engagement photos, she knew what I wanted and asked me if I trusted her. I love when they ask that! It means they know what they're doing and don't need a lot of guidance. My hair turned out beautifully and she did it so quickly! It also lasted the whole day - just like she said. I was super sad when I found out dry bar closed all of their stores in the Bay Area. Did some research on yelp and found Bloom! I'm the type of girl who doesn't know how to do her own hair LOL. So I was in need for someone to do my hair for date night! Booking on bloom website was easy. I was able to book an appointment on Friday afternoon. Came here on Friday afternoon and there was ton of meter parking in the west portal neighborhood. Destiny was my hair stylist and she did a fantastic job! She was super nice & offered me a drink as well when I arrived. She asked what I wanted and I said beachy waves. Finished in 45 mins and I loved the results! I really wanted to love this place! I would have been a weekly/biweekly customer if things went well. The location is sooo convenient for me and the space is pleasing to the eye. There were 2 major things that bothered me. 1. Every time I called I was forwarded to voicemail. 2 days before my appointment I called to see if it was possible to push my appointment up 1 hours. I never received a call. It would have been understandable if it was not possible but a call back would have been nice. 2. My hair was not even close to what I asked for! I asked for soft beach curl and I got a hairstyle that was more structured/glam which would have been great if that was what I asked for. Today I had headshots for work scheduled for an hour after my hair appointment, the idea was to have a professional do a polished version of me...there was not way they hairstyle I was locked into for the day gave me that feeling. The salons around the city do a good job but I never felt "wow'd" after spending $40 to blow dry my hair. THAT CHANGED the day I had called and came here for the first time. This was my first visit at Bloom. I loved the decor, but it was super busy and felt a bit stuffy and frantic to me, due to the number of people. When I arrived, I was greeted and offered a beverage, which I appreciated. Shortly after sitting down, my stylist, Tiffani, greeted me. I came in for an updo and showed Tiffani a photo of what I was looking for from Pinterest. She was confident and went right to work. I really appreciated her asking me questions about how I wanted my hair to look so that it came out just right. I'm very happy with the finished product and am looking forward to wearing it to my event this evening! I also liked that styling products were being sanitized as appointments were finishing. I don't think I've ever seen that at a salon! A few places for improvement: My hair had been washed the day before and it wasn't washed during my visit. I understand that hair that's a tad dirty is best for an updo, but the pricing online states that what I booked, an updo for $85, includes a wash and blow dry. I thought perhaps the service cost would be adjusted, but it was still $85 when I went to check out. Also, please be aware, you should bring cash for your tip. I was kind of made to feel that I was really being inconvenient by putting my tip on a card and was told that I wouldn't be able to do so next time. I would have been happy to bring cash had I known it was strongly preferred. Perhaps this info could be included in the booking confirmation email? I scheduled a blowout service for a maternity shoot. When I got there for my appointment, I was warmly greeted amd was asked to wait as none of the shampoo chairs were available. I told my stylist that I have an outdoor shoot 4 hours later so it would be nice if she could use hairspray or any other product(s) to help maintain the curls until the shoot. She proceeded to style my hair with barely any product or hairspray. By the time I got to my photoshoot, my curls had already fallen out. I was really disappointed in the service considering the amount I paid. I'm all about supporting businesses during Covid, but given that they couldn't accommodate a later appointment in the day, I should have just curled my own hair. read more

I have been a loyal customer and have come in at least once or twice a week - sometimes three or four times a week, and I have posted positive reviews and comments promoting Bloom on various social media platforms. I have been here well over 100 times and have been happy to support this business... until now. For the most part, the stylists are absolutely fantastic . They are friendly, talented, hard-working, and professional, and I have received great service and made many happy memories here. (Shoutouts to Ricardo, Jamila, Tianna, Tiffani, Cynthia, Olivia, Diane, Miraj, Lauren, Lyn, Tiffani, Monica, Diane, Ruby, and Alex) ***So why the one star review?*** (This is also the hundredth review.) Because the owner, Dawn, is DISHONEST!! Offensive. Dishonest. Unwelcoming. Antagonistic. Unfairly Discriminating. Borderline Abusive. Unprofessional. I cannot, with good conscience, support a business like this. It is absolutely disgusting. On more than one occasion, Dawn has not only been dishonest, but she has also been DISRESPECTFUL. For example, she has used OFFENSIVE language, directed towards me. No customer (especially a loyal, enthusiastic, paying customer) should have to endure this. No person should. I just saw Alex and she was AMAZING! A good friend told me about this place and her blowout looked amazing. I was so excited to check it out and booked my appointment online the evening prior for an early morning blow out. I love their hours because you can get there super early and start your day with a beautiful blow out. Alex was super nice and knew exactly what I wanted. She did such a great job that I will definitely come back and ask for her! Anyway, I also bought the little hair product called the "invisi bobble" to help hold my hair up and help to make my blow out last longer. I love that they have magazines on their IPADs which I love zoning out to because it's my relaxation time away from my toddler. You can also surf the net when you're getting your hair did. So awesome! They have memberships available and blow out packages which I am definitely going to purchase on one of my future visits. This will be my new regular place because it's so close to home. I recently came in to get tape extensions. My friend has been coming here for awhile and told me to check it out. First off the salon is beautiful, and the front desk greeted me kindly and felt very welcoming. I had an appointment at 1pm and didn't wait long, was taken in right away. I booked myself and my bridal party to get ready here after seeing how expensive it would be to go with a wedding stylist. Since I was getting married in the city, I made sure there was plenty of time to get everyone done before photos. The nice thing is that since we were ALL getting done at the same time - we were in and out of there in less than 2 hours. Working with Dawn was super easy and she made sure to accommodate us to the best of her ability. My bridal updo was $165 (including the trial) and my bridesmaids got to choose between updos ($80), half dos ($60) and blow outs ($40) which was super reasonable compared to the quotes I was getting from wedding stylists.
