These ladies know their stuff!! My first visit inside Bloom, and I don't see myself leaving...Seriously I don't write reviews only when I'm treated exceptionally well. The amazing artist Julia who helped get my hair back to normal was fantastic! I called to make an appointment the night before, got in the very next day, showed up on time, and sat down right when I walked in, there was no waiting for my stylist to prep or finish up with someone else, great customer service! I was in and out in less than an hour, with a wash, cut, and style! This girl is great! She even gave me a few pointers on how to keep my hair healthy! The salon is located on a busy downtown corner with big open windows for natural light to shine through into the spacious salon. They even accept credit! And are supporters of local artists!! Worst salon ever! Really! I came to get a color touch-up for "dark blond" hair and when the stylist (Kathleen) finished, it was dark brown. She left me sitting in the chair with color while she went to eat lunch. When I asked someone to go get her because it seemed the color was developing very dark, she defended the need to eat. Unbelievable! She even left the product stained on my face saying there was really no way to get it off. I let her know about witch hazel (sigh). The owner, Eli, didn't care either - was actually insulting. After the stylist apologized and did what she could to fix it, I paid and tipped, and left with my striped hair. The rude owner actually initiated a call some time later "inviting" me to find another salon. No invitation necessary - it was really the worst ever. Try anywhere else! I LOVE Bloom! Kathleen has been doing my hair for many years now and I have not been disappointed once. I've come in with specific requests for color and cut and I've come in asking her to recommend what I should do and I am always happy with the outcome! I just woke up this morning and my hair still looks fantastic, it wasn't a dream after all! I was so fortunate to score Megan as my stylist. Being a stylist myself I had cut my own hair for the last dozen or so years because I did not trust anyone. I have arthritis and cannot work anymore, needless to say it was taking a toll on my hair, I was not able to do a good job. My daughter thought that a new style and color would update my behind the times do and so for a late Mother's Day present my children treated me to a new me. I get so many compliments on my hair color because of her talent. She is a Bumble and Bumble Network Educator and is constantly staying up to date with training. I traveled to Napa for vacation but had time on Saturday to get my hair color corrected. I sent an email to Blossom via their contact page via website on Thursday but did not hear from them. So I called in Friday and they were able to get me in on Saturday at 3pm with Megan for partial color and root touch up. She was fantastic and I recommend her to everyone. A group of us booked appointments for hair and makeup for my son's wedding. We started with a hair trial for my future daughter-in-law a few weeks before and ended with hair appointments for her, 5 bridesmaids, and me plus makeup for the bride and 2 bridesmaids. The service was excellent, everyone's hair looked great, and held up really well even during a night of lots of dancing. Extremely disappointed that my daughter spent more than $250 and after two attempts still has striped hair. She went in requesting highlights, was very specific about not ending up with stripes on the top of her head and came home with exactly that. I went with her the second time, and heard her explain what she was looking for. It is definitely better than the first time, but still not at all what she asked for. Her stylist was Laura, very nice person, just did not do a good job on the color. The cut was great, but with the color you don't even notice that. I'm also frustrated that the owner, Ely, did not reply to the email I sent letting him know my concerns. Would absolutely not go back or recommend it. We did a lot of research before deciding to try Bloom. I wish we had asked for a stylist who has good recommendations on Yelp, maybe things would have been better. Also not having a receptionist available full time makes it very hard to get an appointment scheduled. But I am sure it saves Bloom money. read more

I have been to Bloom several times and had a great experience every time. I went to Sheena for cuts/trims and she did an great job. I would also see her for shampoo/blow dry services when I had a special occasion because she would blow dry my wavy hair out so straight and perfect which I can't do. Sheena was always super nice and friendly and did an amazing job. Unfortunately I moved to Oakland so I don't get to see her as frequently. Recently I had a special occasion hair need for my wedding reception. I called Bloom at the last minute and they fit me in with Kelly. I was unsure what kind of updo she would do given that I had never met her or had my hair done by her. Oh well I thought, even if she does an OK job it will still be "done". I wasn't expecting anything special because it was so last minute. I completely lucked out because Kelly did an absolutely amazing job. AMAZING. She did my hair in under an hour and the updo was breathtaking. It was so elegant but without looking too styled. I was thrilled with the result. To top it off, Bloom has this cute tree in the salon that has fake flowers for your hair. I bought one that Kelly helped me pick, it was a perfect orchid that everyone at the reception thought was real. I want to go back to Bloom and pick some more of those clip on flowers out, they make adorable hair accessories. Anyways, that's my review, I've been to Sheena for cuts and blow dries in the past and Kelly for an updo and I would recommend them both wholeheartedly to anyone. I like their new space too, its centrally located with easier parking. If I had to say one negative thing, its that we weren't greeted right away and were kind of left wondering -we didn't know if Kelly knew we were there or not. A couple of the other girls who worked there walked right by us as we were waiting up front just standing there. All it takes is a "Hi, someone will be right with you." I worked in the service industry and I know it can be annoying to deal with someone else's client but you don't want to make customers feel uncomfortable. It wasn't Kelly's fault though because she was with another customer in the back of the salon. I guess they don't have a receptionist or she wasn't working. All in all it wasn't a big deal and I can't wait to go back to Bloom. It has a really fun vibe to it. There aren't many fun, hip salons in Napa. Some of the other salons in Napa are snobby but Bloom has always been welcoming and laid back but still cutting edge. Love it! I wish I could go there every morning and have my hair done for the day. Also, I needed to have my make-up done as well and while Bloom doesn't do makeup, they recommended a great person, Faxon Russ, who works in St. Helena. She did a fabulous job but I will save that for another review. read more

The owner of this salon appreciates things of beauty by demonstrating her support for local artists whose work adorn the walls, featuring new art work every month. I can not say enough good things about Lelani Slack, the owner of Bloom. I have watched her business grow or should say "bloom" through out the past years. She has colored and cut my hair since I moved to this area, back in her Panache days. She listens to what you want and she makes it work. If you don't know what you want and are a little insecure, you will be in good caring hands. Lelani has created a special salon with a hip group of hair stylists whose respect for her shines in the way they greet anyone coming through the front door...young or old, we all want to look and feel good. I can't wait for hubby's eatery place to open across the street...that way I can eat and be pampered at the same same. read more

all of the gals @ bloom are wonderful! i have been getting my hair done by Lyndsay for years. she always listens and gives me just what i want, whether it's color or cut. she is creative and keeps my style fresh & new, so i never get bored with it! Leilani, owner & also a stylist, is always busy keeping the salon fun, funky & "green."
