My wife and I dined at Del Monico on Valentine's Day. We hadn't dined here in several years - and now realize what we were missing. The menu has something for everyone. We shared the pupu platter appetizer. Sesame chicken skewers. Filet skewers. Pork wontons. Swordfish wontons. Garlic shrimp. Cole slaw. Everything was absolutely delicious. This is a MUST appetizer when we return. My wife had the chicken with prosciutto and cheese. Nice portion and very tasty. I had an 8 ounce filet - cooked to a perfect medium rare with a nice char. Not too many places where you can get a filet for $35. Tender. Tasty. I also got the horseradish mashed potatoes - great choice - nice kick. Service was warm and attentive. Food came out promptly. Celebrated my birthday with my family at Delmonico's and it was an awesome experience. We got a few appetizers (chicken lettuce wraps, wings, and calamari) and they were all phenomenal. I ordered the 22 ounce ribeye and it was out of this world. Super flavorful and so soft that my knife cut through it like butter. The staff were super friendly and quick with our orders. The owner actually came out and spoke with us a bit, and even sang happy birthday for me. This is an awesome restaurant, with great ownership and excellent food! I'll be back for sure. read more

I heard great things about this place, the New York chain , so when I heard there was one in New Jersey I've been trying to come here for sometime. well I was definitely wildly disappointed, my server clara was super sweet and attentive but the food was definitely lackluster. The appetizers were just mediocre at best the only things that we're good we're basic the shrimp cocktail was good, the pu pu platter was ok. there are definitely some great deals for lunch though, we ordered almost the entire menu and our bill was only 190. I think perhaps lunch is not the way to go because I saw the steaks for dinner and I definitely think I'll be back for that. read more

Dined here last night for my Mother's birthday. When we arrived, we were day immediately the dining room was empty. We immediately noticed the changes in decor. New chairs, new menus and clearly new prices. Website and restaurant prices are different. They use to have really good bread, it's now different just ok. We skipped apps and ordered entrees. Both of us ordered steaks, filet mignon and NY strip. Both were overcooked, not inedible just not how we asked. Veggies and yellow rice were both bland. Towards the end of our meal service slowed down, a lot of waiting. Brought me the wrong check so we waited to correct the issue and settle the bill awhile. Check this out... It's a little bit tricky where the entrance is, because it is not located on the Main Street as you drive by the restaurant. There is a parking lot in the back and that's where you'll be walking in from. I was told that James Gandolfini (aka: Tony Soprano) was part owner, back when he was alive (God rest his soul), which would make sense why this is designed this way. Back in the day, mobsters always went in through the back door to get seated. I'm not going into detail why mobsters always went in through the backdoor to any "joint" (place of business)...Google it! Haha As you park in the back lot you notice the outdoor seating. Again, perfect for being hidden away from the Main Street so that people driving by wouldn't see what's going on. And, makes for a quick getaway when you're located next to your car haha. As you walk in you have the bar area along the right side with some high-top tables for dining. They have happy hour specials on drinks (half off), and bar food items. The hours run different daily (around 4pm-7pm & 9pm-11pm), and some last a couple hours before closing. They had fit as many TVs as possible, and I could see this place being a nice hangout spot for sporting events including "Sunday Funday". The restaurant side brings elegance and a trendy look to the place. I liked the decor and the seating, great for big parties. I made reservations so I was seated right away which was very nice. The food items I chose were delicious. The bread (dinner rolls) come out hot and fresh with 3 side items: butter, oil infused garlic for a sweet kick, and oil infused hot peppers for a spicy kick). For my main course I had chosen the Filet Mignon dressed with melting butter and garlic which was recommended by our lovely waitress, Chelsea. It was made this way as her special request, so if you see the video you'll have to ask for it to be cooked sizzling hot with butter and garlic. Overall I liked this place, because of the atmosphere and menu. It's a steakhouse that has different dishes to offer (Asian and Italian), and the menu is worth coming back for again. Went to this place after driving past it a ton of times from Willowbrook Mall. One day I'll go and check it out. Boy, I wish I went in sooner. The food here was amazing!!!! At first I was a little iffy walking in. It doesn't look like much from the outside. But once you go inside, they treat you like a king from the moment you walk in. Their biggest ticket here is the food quality. I got the Del Monico which is their Ribeye and it was very well seasoned and very fairly priced. Bread was the best part of the meal. French Onion soup was bland. Shameful. The seared tuna was over salted, ruining a great sushi grade tuna. The entrees I refuse to write about. Instead I will stop and say the following... Oh Tony, how we have fallen since 2008. We need a refresh of the menu, the atmosphere, the bar menu, and I dont want to go on but this could be amazing again. I find this to be a average experience around the area for ok; I have given the rating the same as I would any average place. 2.5. That said this is better due its history so I lean to 3 stars. Awful experience. I'm still sitting here and we ordered the Cajun blackened platter and the bacon wrapped filet both medium rare. We ended up receiving it medium Well done and the server never actually checked back. neither of us ate the food as it is too tough to eat so we received a 50% discount. I tipped in cash. and then the waiter tipped himself $30 the next day that I did not include myself on the merchant receipt. I'll say, to start, initially my wife and I were attracted to this restaurant because of the name, and incorrectly associated with the Delmonico steakhouse in New York City. Regardless of that understanding we decided to give it a shot anyway. From a price-point perspective it's reasonable. My wife and I were able to enjoy a meal which consisted of 2 appetizers (garlic shrimp & lump crab), split caesar salad, a shared steak with 3 ala'carte sides, one very nice bottle of wine, dessert and 2 espresso for about $170.00 + tip. Notes & dings: The garlic shrimp is tasty and well cooked. The lump crab cake raw bar appetizer is not lump. It's good crab, and probably makes a good crab cake, but it's shredded. Also the presentation is a bit lacking. The steak, a 22oz porterhouse, ordered mid-rare - served sizzling - was heavily salted (even for me who uses kosher salt when cooking steak at home) & overcooked. We spoke to the manager who gladly re-fired another steak which came out generally unseasoned but more properly cooked. It was good, not great. The peppercorn steak-sauce is more a gravy than a steak sauce. The atmosphere is interesting, and plays into the theme of an Asian-inspired steakhouse. It has a full bar, and on a Friday night was pretty packed by the time we left at 8:00 p.m. Overall there was nothing terribly egregious about the experience. The wait staff is professional and attentive. The manager is engaged and responsive. However, the menu is confusing as it has a combination of steaks, raw bar, Asian-inspired appetizers and entree, & a sprinkling of Italian pasta dishes thrown in. I guess there's something for everybody - but feels like the restaurant lacks a true identity. We're just having a difficult time finding a compelling reason to return. read more

This is a local gem. Went with another couple & it was wonderful. The place was decorated very cute for Valentines Day & it was a warm, intimate atmosphere. The waiter, Theodore was excellent. The warm bread & dipping oils were so good & he happily brought more bread. We ordered fried calamari, Delmonico steaks, short ribs, spring salad, mushrooms, coconut shrimp & everything was cooked perfectly & tasted delicious. The last couple times having lunch there the bartender/waiter Dan served us. He is by far the rudest most unpleasant person I met. I truly believe people like Dan kill your business. I would recommend her as a sever. The food was great. From our appetizer to dessert nothing disappointed me. A few weeks ago my friends and I met here for dinner. It was really nice outside so we decided to sit at a table in the back. One of my friends knew the waiter and he took care of us right as we sat down, and did a great job serving us throughout the meal. The first thing that comes out is the bread, and it's honestly the highlight of the meal. It was so good we got two extra baskets. They serve it with a pepper sauce that is amazing and we could not stop eating it. We split a dozen oysters which were very fresh and I would definitely order again if I ever go back. For my meal, I ordered a steak. The steak was just okay. It came with fried onions on the side and topped with a garlic butter. I'm a tough critic when it comes to steak and I just felt the quality of the meat wasn't all that great. It was cooked well and had great flavor, but it was a little tough to chew. I also got the steak with garlic shrimp, which was a delicious addition to the plate. Other than that, everything was great. It was really busy here on a Tuesday night, which must say something about the quality of the restaurant. Unfortunately, because they were so busy, the kitchen was also really backed up. It took a pretty long time for our food to come out. Normally this would bother me as a diner, but the staff was extremely apologetic and nice about it. In particular, one man who seemed to be the manager on duty, was nice enough to take off our beverages and the fries that came out after we had already finished our meal. We ordered Fried Calamari as an appetizer. For entrees we got the Penne Vodka with Filet Mignon Medallions and the NY Strip. All of the food we ordered was great and tasty, despite the long wait. I was pleased with the portion size as well, particularly because the prices are a bit high. You have the option to be seated at the bar, outside or in the restaurant. If you choose to sit outside on the patio or at the bar, you can take advantage of their happy hour specials - $4 tapas and drink specials. Although I wish the dinners came out quicker, I was still pleased with my experience here. If the staff had not been so customer oriented, I probably would have given my experience less stars. I have no idea why we've never eaten here before -- it's hiding in plain sight, right on Route 23 in the middle of Cedar Grove, and prices are literally half what you pay at the "name" steak houses in NYC. But choose your menu items carefully -- my wife's filet mignon was excellent, but the "small" Delmonico steak (actually a ribeye) was half the thickness of a normal, restaurant-quality ribeye and not particularly tender -- and no trace of the "traditional char" that it was supposed to have. It's possible that the "large" version is the correct thickness and consistency, but no one at my table ordered it; I'd want to see one before ordering a steak (other than a filet) here again. To be fair, there are lots of other menu choices -- i.e., it's not strictly a steak house, as the name implies. Appetizers and side dishes are quite satisfactory, as is the service. Reservations are a good idea, particularly on weekends. read more

The waitress was willing to give us happy hour specials in the dining room to accommodate my cousin with her baby (since there was not space in the bar area). As always a perfect night at Delmonico's with my Sandra. Steak and oysters is what I was in the mood for and they did not disappoint. Oysters were plump and flavorful and the steak was spot on. Tender and juicy. There was a small problem with Sandra's seafood primavera but it was corrected immediately by the very helpful and courteous staff.
