Perkins is as Perkins does, but this location has some wonderful staff that make it feel less like a pit stop on the highway and more like a place you could do a weekly dinner with friends. In this area that's important. It also helps that this is essentially the best option for pies that isn't a grocery store.

Junk. Ordered the Butterball Turkey with 2 sides. Nothing made fresh here. All frozen. How can the people here stand for this kind of food. Why are these restaurants still open? Don't eat here ever.

Perkins is pretty solid for a regional chain. My better half has become a fan when we travel to visit family in PA and we've been a few times now for breakfast. Growing up, we'd often go for either Sunday breakfast for a late night Friday meal as a family. I was always mesmerized by the glass cases of sweet treats as you walk in but I can't think of many times I've ever purchased anything from it. Maybe one of these times, that will change. I am the type of person who rarely orders desserts while I'm out, I prefer the savory. This location always seems to have the nicest servers, salt of the earth local ladies who have been through it all and still remain pleasant when working with diners. Filling your coffee and taking your plates on time while doing it with a smile, what more can you ask for? I recently went with a more healthy option of a spinach scramble with wheat toast and fresh fruit, they tout it as having about 500 calories. Everything about it was decent, including the fruit which fooled me...I still don't know if they were previously canned or actually fresh. The applewood turkey sausage fooled me as well into thinking it was porky pig. My SO loves the french toast here and got it again, just as delicious as we had remembered. The side of potatoes is one of my favorite dishes here, never burnt with just the right amount of grilled aspect to them. The coffee is on par with great diner brew and they even brought us our own pitchers to refill this last go around. Although I have a rule that I give very few 5-star reviews for chains, this is about as close as you can get to being at the top. Easy on-off from Interstate 80, if you are passing through and don't have many other options for breakfast foods (sorry, I don't know or remember much about dinner), this one comes recommended.

Our waitress not so much, I'm a server too and my standards are pretty low because I know what the restaurant industry is like, but they were not busy, I saw her refilling other tables coffee and ignoring us, and seemed bothered when I asked for a refill, might go back but if you don't like your job, don't do it

We went a few Sundays in the late spring and had a good experience. When Knoebel's opened, the experience went downhill. We drew the line when we went in on a Sunday where large groups were present, and they apparently had no clue on buffet etiquette, or just didn't care. Cleanliness and food safety are huge to me after I got horrible food poisoning at another buffet in the area and spent 4 days in the ICU with it. While the buffet area itself was clean and the food was to temperature, there were many patrons taking dirty plates back up. We notified our server who just looked at us and kind-of shrugged and walked away. My husband approached one of them and said, "Please don't keep taking dirty plates back up to the buffet.". One of them chastised him and told him he was "nuts" and that he was lying that it's not OK to do that. Plates are not at the buffet - the server brings them, and will bring two sets at the beginning, and then will replenish when needed. When we left, we informed another server that it was gross to do that and they're opening themselves up for issues if the health department stopped by, she asked why we didn't say anything. We said that we did but the server didn't seem to care. She yelled "I care!" from behind a door, but that was enough for us to opt to not return until Knoebel's was closed for the year. We suggested that they consider keeping the plates at the buffet area to discourage that. We decided to try again recently. Not only was there a large group there taking their dirty plates back up, but they were also taking dirty utensils up and using them. I was 3/4 through my plate when I saw that and refused to eat any more. My husband again said something to them, and they just pretended as if he didn't hear. We again said something to the server and suggested that they need to put signs up saying to not take dirty plates back up, or again to put plates at the buffet, but I'm fairly confident nothing will be done. There are other reviews out there that bring up questions of cleanliness, which is concerning. Unsure whether we'll try to return or not. At 10 am, much of the hot side of the buffet was empty, and not restocked while we were there, which is another strike.

The restaurant had everything set up for us and the wait staff was great! Appetizers were ordered and the clams, and chicken wings came out cold. The chef came out and explained that the kitchen did not have the same type of heating as the restaurant and he was freezing back there. He said the heat lamps could not keep up with the cold temperatures, so he had no control over serving cold food. He said he would remove them from the bill for us. Seemed like a very odd explanation. I ordered seafood linguine but received seafood risotto. They offered to remake it quick but I declined since everyone else had their food. For the price of the plate I expected more than 2 scallops quartered and 5-6 shrimp. The taste was fine but I did not eat the risotto. The French onion soup was served with a puff pastry topper, lacked cheese, and had a brown sugar taste (very sweet). This is very different from any other French onion soup recipe that I have tried. I would not order it again as it did not meet my definition of French onion soup but you can be the judge of you try it. Mixed drinks were very good. Based on plate cost, food quality, and value, I provided a rating of 2/5
