I decided to get the lemon meringue pie. I thought the lemon meringue pie was OK. The ring on top tasted a bit sweet, but knowing that it was marshmallow, I knew it was going to be sweet. The meringue itself was decent. It didn't taste super fresh, but it definitely had a site darkness to it. I like slightly more things so for me it wasn't hard enough, but I feel like for other people who like sweet things and just want a little bit of darkness. I literally got the worst meal I have ever had in my entire life.I got an omelet add avocado. The omelet ingredients were burnt. It tasted horrible. Also my blueberry pancakes were burnt on one side and undone on the other.We had to wait 45minutes for our meal to come out. My husband was going to tell waitress about it but I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes. Also the waitress that we had was training so I didn't want to complain she was very timid. 67 bucks to feel sick! Told the lady at the register and the comment was why didn't you tell the waitress. Absolutely fantastic service! Our waitress was friendly and efficient . Our steak and eggs were excellent. At first, the steak came out a little too rare for a medium rare; instantly the manager took it back to the kitchen and within minutes it came back perfectly done. The blueberry pancakes were delicious, too. We took two pieces of strawberry pie for a late dessert in our hotel room. It was sweet and oh so worth the calories and the late night snack! We do not have a Perkins in Arizona but if they're all like this one we'd frequent it often! The restaurant was clean and bright. Perkins is as Perkins does, but this location has some wonderful staff that make it feel less like a pit stop on the highway and more like a place you could do a weekly dinner with friends. In this area that's important. It also helps that this is essentially the best option for pies that isn't a grocery store. read more

Perkins is pretty solid for a regional chain. My better half has become a fan when we travel to visit family in PA and we've been a few times now for breakfast. Growing up, we'd often go for either Sunday breakfast for a late night Friday meal as a family. I was always mesmerized by the glass cases of sweet treats as you walk in but I can't think of many times I've ever purchased anything from it. Maybe one of these times, that will change. I am the type of person who rarely orders desserts while I'm out, I prefer the savory. This location always seems to have the nicest servers, salt of the earth local ladies who have been through it all and still remain pleasant when working with diners. Filling your coffee and taking your plates on time while doing it with a smile, what more can you ask for? I recently went with a more healthy option of a spinach scramble with wheat toast and fresh fruit, they tout it as having about 500 calories. Everything about it was decent, including the fruit which fooled me...I still don't know if they were previously canned or actually fresh. The applewood turkey sausage fooled me as well into thinking it was porky pig. My SO loves the french toast here and got it again, just as delicious as we had remembered. The side of potatoes is one of my favorite dishes here, never burnt with just the right amount of grilled aspect to them. The coffee is on par with great diner brew and they even brought us our own pitchers to refill this last go around. Although I have a rule that I give very few 5-star reviews for chains, this is about as close as you can get to being at the top. Easy on-off from Interstate 80, if you are passing through and don't have many other options for breakfast foods (sorry, I don't know or remember much about dinner), this one comes recommended. read more

We stopped here for dinner on our way home from the Knoebels Craft Fair. I had the Butterball turkey dinner. The turkey was pretty good, it was just a bit dry. The potatoes and stuffing were good. What really surprised me was that the corn that I had as a side was actually seasoned perfectly with butter, salt and pepper. The only reason I didn't give this review 5 stars was the fact that our server was a little ditsy. She hit my brother in the head with the beverage tray twice and kept forgetting little things. The food was just okay, though. Two individuals loved them chicken pot pie, but the presentation and quality of some items, like the vegetables in particular, was pretty sorry. The five sticks of asparagus (for $3!) came out on a plate by itself, making it feel much smaller. The corn was similar, but with the added 'bonus' of having buttery grease on the plate. The baked potato was also a bit hard, even with the 3-4 Tbsp of butter just heaped on top. All-in-all a good effort, but the quality/value just wasn't quite there for all items. read more

Years ago, I used to stop at a Perkins every time I would drive home to CT from college in PA. Driving from OH a couple weekends ago, I got nostalgic and we decided to stop for our breakfast break. Not a good experience. After being seated right away, we proceeded to wait another 15-20 minutes before a waitress finally came to take our order. We really didn't need that much time to make up our minds! Drinks come out and they weren't correct. OJ instead of apple juice, tea instead of coffee. Waited another 5 minutes for the right drinks. Food comes out 10-15 minutes later and was just eh. We had the brioche French toast and sausage and biscuits. What was supposed to be a nice breakfast stop during our road trip turned into a disappointing, hour plus break. read more

When we first dined at this Perkins in the Fall of 2013 it was fairly good. It is a good place to stop between our home and the Hudson Valley in New York. That first visit was the LAST time it was a good place to eat. On 4 occasions since then it has been marginal at best. If I was the only person in our party involved in deciding where we stop to eat the first glass of lousy OJ would have been the last glass ever served to me. The physical restaurant is very good and clean but the condition has declined noticeably since that first visit. Some of the food, mostly the sides and extras, leaves a lot to be desired. I have now had 4 large glasses of very watered down orange juice. The bacon is barely more than bacon 'ribbons'. The 'healthy sausage' even makes my not picky husband gag. This summers Strawberry Fest includes a salad that comes in at a whopping $10 just for the salad. The coffee is only marginal. The service is sometimes hit or miss When an error is pointed out, the wait staff sometimes gets a little defensive about it instead of just correcting the problem. A skeletal staff during slow hours will leave you waiting at your table for service throughout your meal despite that fact that only a few other diners occupy the establishment. On one visit we were chasing flies off of our table and all the waitress had to say about it was how terrible the flies were at her house at that time. Cracker Barrel and Ruby Tuesday are on either side of this Perkins. We are done with this Perkins. read more
