Francis kaner, Bethany the absolute genius who puts up with my shenanigans and still hasn't thrown me out, Madison - the underrated mastermind who they should start paying closer attention to. My only complaints are entirely around the fact that other people also like this place and it is sometimes busy, and that the flatbread special that should absolutely be a permanent part of the menu because no place needs 2 dozen burger options. 10/10 - would get sassed by Bethany again. read more

Bartender told me "if there's a problem fuck off" after I tried leaving. I don't mind when people cut people off because they think they're too intoxicated because it's apart of their job. However they're better ways to handle this situation without being so rude. Overall the previous bar tenders that use to work here were significantly more mature on handling situations like this. I've lost the respect for this establishment because of this event because this specific individual was a lead For the bar tenders from what i understand. This is a great place to stop... We were headed back home and looking for a place for lunch. West side ale Haus looked interesting so we gave it a try. Fun place with good food and beer. We sat in a booth in the bar area which had a our own tv. Love it because we were there to watch a certain game. The spinach dip wrap was delicious and creamy. Visited Sunday dinner time, Memorial Day weekend. Traveling thru on I 80. Other places seemed to be all closed up on Sunday, and we didn't want to go to the typical buckhorn restaurants. This place had great character, clean, amazing service, excellent food and reasonable prices, even outside seating! Great selection of beers on tap, full menu. In search of a great hamburger I visited the West End Ale Haus. Menu options for burgers were attractive and varietal. Service was friendly and at a good pace. My one complaint was that during my visit, the front portion of the restaurant was open with several smokers seated half in/half out of the restaurant so naturally, their smoke was being blown back into the interior of the restaurant. On a road trip and found this pub listed in our hotel's book. This is a locals/millennials hang out right smack dab downtown Bloomsburg PA. It's nice to see such well-behaved young people having a good time and enjoying each other's company. The other patrons didn't seem to care that we were old and even chatted with us while watching Monday night football. There's a pool table, darts, and several tv's in the bar area and an adjoining dining room. My husband enjoyed his burger with a crab cake on top for alittle something different. Let me preface this review by stating that if Yelp allowed for half-star ratings, I would probably give this place 2.5 stars instead of 2. The service was great and the staff was friendly (definitely 4 stars!) -- and this place would be a great place to grab drinks with a friend. We were greeted with a smile at the door and promptly seated and asked for drink orders. This place has quite the selection of beers to choose from, and also has a number of drink specials each day of the week. With drinks ordered, we proceeded to sift through the extensive menu -- and boy, there are a lot of options. Some that seemed both intriguing and ridiculous at the same time (e.g., the grilled cheese cheeseburger: a cheeseburger with two grilled cheeses as the bun; my friend actually sprung for that one!). It was quite a lot to process and ultimately settled on the caprese chicken sandwich. The food was a little slow to come out given that the restaurant wasn't particularly busy that evening. It didn't bother my friend and I since we were busy catching up, but it's something that we both noticed and commented on. When the food arrived, I immediately noticed that the quality of bread the caprese sandwich was served on was sub-par. It looked like some sort of cheap, white bun. The chicken was cooked pretty well, but the pesto was surprisingly not that flavorful. Normally, pestos have such rich, wonderful flavor but this one (despite being very green) did not have that quintessential basil flavor. Now you could argue that I didn't order a bar food classic, so of course I was let down by what I ordered. But even the waffle fries (you can't get more bar food-y than something fried) that came with my sandwich were disappointing. I was so excited to see waffle fries on the menu since I hadn't had them in years, but these ones tasted like they had been left in a freezer for a little too long and had an odd crispy/hardness to them from how they were cooked. I am not saying that I wouldn't be willing to give this place another shot if I was in the Bloomsburg area again. I'd happily grab a drink here with a friend, and I can see how this could be a cool place for the local college students to hang out. Service was mediocre. Took awhile for the waitress to come around, but wasn't terrible. I had the French dip and chili fries. The French dip wasn't good. It tasted really fake, like a frozen sandwich that was warmed up. The chili fries weren't very good either. Chili was a little sweet and tasted burnt. After being to every bar in Bloomsburg multiple time I can hands down say this is my favorite in every way. Starting off with the service. The bouncers are always super friendly and do their job well. Many bars in Bloomsburg are lax with checking IDs resulting in folks underage in their bars drinking. As a senior it is not ideal to be surrounded by underagers in the bar illegally. West End bouncers and bar tenders know their stuff when checking IDs and ensure that this does not happen. Food and beverage service is speedy, even on busy nights. The bar is fully stocked with every drink you can imagine. West End also has unbelievable drink specials. My personal favorite is Sunday $1 well drinks. Everyday other than Sunday they have $2 well drinks all day/night. Once a month they host a "tap takeover" where a specific beer company comes in with kegs and a limited amount of free tickets are handed out to come enjoy the event. I was able to make it to the April tap takeover and can say it is a huge benefit to the establishment making it a way to get newcomers into this new bar (just opened a little over a year ago). Tap takeover consists of all you can drink and eat! Totally free! On Monday nights during football season they have beer specials along with free giveaways such as jerseys for guesting the end score of the game. The food is AMAZING! If I had to eat at West End every day for the rest of my college career I wouldn't complain. They have awesome wing specials on Wednesday nights. The red, white, and blue wings are to die for. Their grilled cheese and burgers are also fabulous. Sandwiches come with your choice of fries or a side salad. They also have large entree salad options available for meals. I've never ate anything here that I did not enjoy. Overall I would say it's a great bar with a fun yet relaxed atmosphere. There is darts, pool, jute box, and two bars. There is also the middle dining room area where you can chose to dime in a booth. Always very clean. 2 bathroom stalls in the female bathroom. Make sure to close your tab! $2 Mixed Drinks. Do I need to continue? Yes. West End Ale Haus is the combination of two formerly separate businesses. The result is a large venue with three distinct sections (East and West bar, and a dining room). With ample space, good weekly deals on drinks, and a high variety menu, West End is one of my favorite bars in the whole area. In fact it was its opening that prompted me to return to a "bar scene," and is now my designated regular place for drinking out. In my experiences there, the serving staff is typically on-task and attentive even during busy times. The menu has options ranging from small snack fare to full meal, and the prices won't break your bank. Pool tables, frequent events, and the weekly tap takeover (on and off) help spice things up. With the possible exception of Filet 18 (see review), West End Ale Haus presents the best bar option in the downtown Bloomsburg area. read more

This is a very reasonably priced ale house. About 30 beers on tap and another 80 in bottles so there is a lot of choice. In regard to food try the Hurricane wings. Not your standard hot wings. Very complex and robust flavors in every bite with a nice crispiness on the outside with juicy meat on the inside... just as it should be. The waffle fries are amazing here. Very crispy and nicely seasoned. Definitely ordering those next time! We also ordered the baked haddock and it was prepared well and wasn't over cooked (the most common sin when it comes to restaurant fish preparation). read more

I have been here multiple times during my college career, and not once have I had a bad experience. The food? Immaculate. The atmosphere? Fun and warm. The servers? Friendly and attentive. The food here is amazing and the wait for it is so fast! Recently I went on Thursday, when they have their Mac and cheese specials, and I got the cheese lover dish. For $13 I got a side salad, garlic bread, and the Mac and cheese. Now, I am not exaggerating when I say this Mac and cheese tasted like god personally crafted it himself.
