The owner later called me and said that even this partial refund was a "favor" because they normally don't issue refunds. She also made a point of telling me that she has a legal education, which I found particularly surprising considering her apparent lack of understanding of basic consumer protection principles when a paid service is not delivered as agreed. Very disappointing service and an even more disappointing response to a legitimate customer complaint.

During the appointment, the experience itself was uncomfortable. Chemicals were dripping onto my face, leaving stains on my forehead, and when my hair was washed, the water was cold and splashed everywhere. A few days later, after washing and styling my hair the way I normally do, I noticed how off the balayage looked. My roots already appeared very grown out--almost halfway down my head. I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. I called the salon to see if they could fix the top portion, and I was told my stylist, Angel, would call me back--but I never heard from her. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Not only was the service expensive, but the results didn't meet expectations, and there was no follow-up or effort to make it right.

So this time, I let the manager, Sabrina, know in advance that my daughter preferred a different stylist. Sabrina became defensive and accusatory, telling me she wasn't going to let me "blame and dismiss" her stylist. I calmly explained that wasn't my intention at all -- I was simply requesting a different stylist for my daughter's appointment, which should be a reasonable request. Instead of listening, she was dismissive and rude throughout the conversation, and stood there chewing gum the entire time, which came across as disrespectful and unprofessional. This isn't an isolated incident -- this location has consistently had staff who are rude and dismissive. It's disappointing to pay for a membership and never know whether I'm going to get a good experience or a frustrating one. Drybar needs to do a better job training staff at this location on basic customer service.

She was gently combing through my naturally curly hair when a manager (who had red-dyed hair) walked over and announced to Susana, as though I weren't sitting there, that they would be charging me an additional $15 for detangling. I would have had no issue with the fee had the manager simply spoken to me directly and explained it respectfully. Instead, she called it out across the shampoo area in a way that felt embarrassing, dismissive, and demeaning. Susana was apologetic and clearly uncomfortable with how the situation was handled. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated impression. The management at this location consistently seems unhappy and creates an unpleasant, "mean girl" atmosphere that affects the entire salon. The stylists are talented and do not deserve to work in that kind of environment. Drybar has built a strong brand around making clients feel welcomed and cared for. This location falls far short of that standard. I sincerely hope the company takes a closer look at its management and workplace culture before it drives away more loyal customers--and the talented stylists who deserve better.

Personally, I couldn't care less whether my hair stylist works on celebrities or everyday people (or both in his case), but it's a bit comforting to know that celebs trust him with their hair... Doesn't hurt. He sure isn't as expensive as you'd expect from a high level salon. I also like that there's plenty of free parking in front of his salon, and I usually follow up an appointment with a quick hop to the Trader Joe's next door. Extremely convenient.

While they were outside, I witnessed a woman, who I was later told is the salon manager, Marisa confront these parents in an incredibly inappropriate manner. She made them feel humiliated, and treated them as if they were doing something wrong simply for comforting their upset child. She even went as far as calling security, claiming they were being disruptive because their child was crying. As a bystander, I was honestly disgusted. Watching someone speak to parents this way, especially when they were calmly trying to support their child, was deeply upsetting. Children have difficult moments, they don't always know how to regulate their emotions, and that's exactly when they need patience and compassion, not hostility. I cannot understand how anyone, especially someone in a position of responsibility, could behave in such a cold and unacceptable way toward a family in that situation. To the salon manager, just do better.

It's certainly been a difficult time for everyone; Customers and businesses alike. Some businesses post-Covid like to share their difficulties with new customers that they've traversed; without truly recognizing and honoring that times have been equally hard for the customers who are now spending their hard earned money in good faith on businesses. Again: it's been a challenging time for everyone, Ownership might remember that they're there to provide a service, and a client is there for business, not interaction that crosses boundaries into "too personal". A customer by necessity needs to sometimes share information to better assist a beauty service; for example, if they've had surgical procedures in a certain area, they should let the technician know that certain areas are sensitive; If they've gone through treatment for an illness, it's best to be transparent about how that may affect the area of service; This is NOT an invitation for the technician to share completely unrelated personal information about their own challenges. The client is there for a business service, not to be feel helplessly captive while a beautician shares deeply personal, inappropriate information. Requesting appropriate professional communication was dismissed and ignored. Further request for communication after the business suffered setbacks was likewise dismissed. Out of discretion I'll say: A customer should feel comfortable at all times in a place of business; Conversations should remain professional, and welcoming, particularly for new customers; it's ALWAYS best when owners and technicians respect boundaries of communication for everyone's comfort and productivity. A customer visits a place of business for a service, and should not ever be made to feel uncomfortable by personal information being shared by those that administer a service, especially when paying for that service. I wish this business and ownership every good thing, and thank them for the couple of services a few months ago. Thank you.
