I've already left a well deserved very positive review for Dylan Keith Salon. Joseph now gets his own personal review. I scheduled a consultation for color correction with Joseph for April 18th, and it went very quickly and smoothly. He listened very carefully to what I wanted and how I felt about my previous hair color and hair dressers. I wasn't criticizing my former hair dressers personally; I was just expressing my dissatisfaction with some previous color choices and the myriad of colors - copper, gray, salt and pepper, white and dark brown - all competing for attention in my hair! This was the end result of not getting my hair professionally colored since December 2024 and using at home henna color for several months in 2025. To say that I needed a major color correction was an UNDERSTATEMENT! Joseph talked me through his color suggestions, and he explained the best approach to take regarding my complex situation. I wanted a warm shade of brown with a bit of a copper undertone. Darker brown shades made the gray along the roots much more obvious. We scheduled my next appointment for color correction for May 9th, and Joseph performed a color correction process that took about two and a half hours. He had to handle the henna dyed hair differently from the natural color hair near the roots, and find a way to blend the colors seamlessly. He did it. He performed a kind of magic. He mixed hair color to correct the bright orange-red henna color segments and applied it very carefully. He tested it first. After he was satisfied (the color worked and my hair took it), he proceeded to apply color to that area of my hair. Once the henna color was corrected, he proceeded to work on the upper portion (most recent hair growth) and the end result was perfect. Just beautiful! As a woman, I felt attractive again. He's very patient. He's extremely focused. He's a perfectionist. He's very honest about his recommendations for a client, and doesn't waste time with a lot of small talk. He's actually one of the few hair dressers I've known who is truly comfortable working in silence. When he opens up and shares in conversation, he's charming. I enjoyed our discussions and our collaboration very much! I'll be seeing him again this Saturday, now that six weeks have passed. He'll see how the color has grown out. Perfectionist that he is, he's going to do some additional touch-up work on certain areas that we spoke about during my first visit. Thank you, Joseph. The cut does look a bit better now, but the original haircut was much shorter than I wanted and uneven, so more length had to be cut to fix it. In total, I lost about 5-6 inches, which was very upsetting since I been working hard to grow it out. I also expected the correction to include a finished style or blow dry, especially because I had an event afterward, but my hair was left puffy and not fully styled. I also want to be honest that I felt uncomfortable with the situation around my Yelp review. During the appointment, I felt pushed to delete my review, and the interaction felt overwhelming. I understand the salon cares about its reputation, but I believe customers should be able to share honest experiences and decide for themselves if they want to update or remove a review. I appreciate the attempt to make things right, but overall this was still a stressful experience for me. I genuinely wish I could leave three stars because I appreciate that an effort was made to correct my haircut.
