I love this place, so far every person I've gone to is fabulous and I leave with a bombshell blowout. My one critique is that they need some extreme air circulation in there. When you walk in there is a cloud of spray and even breathing that in for 60 minutes doesn't feel healthy, I worry for the stylists. They have the window cracked but it doesn't do much. Please add some fans/ air cleaners. read more

Tiara and Juan are truly the best! I was in town for a wedding and after lots of online research, landed on making an appt here. I was super specific about requesting them not based on the positive reviews. The place is clean and in a super cute neighborhood. I got there 5 min early and Tiara was on time and so sweet and SO talented. I've had makeup artists just want to finish the job, but she truly took the time to make sure every detail was perfect. After my makeup appt I went to check-in for hair and somehow the front desk had swapped me with another hair stylist. I kept showing her my confirmation, but she could care less and was so dismissive. Even though Tiara was with another client, when she saw what was going on, she immediately stepped away and came over to help. She spoke to Juan and got him to swap clients with someone else so he could do my hair. He, of course, did an incredible job and was super fast to make sure I got out on time. Huge kudos for Tiara for not only being an incredible makeup artist but also for taking care of me even though it wasn't her job!! read more

I wanted to share my experience regarding my appointment with Adam last Saturday, July 11, as I feel it was handled very unprofessionally. Last Saturday was my bridal shower, and I booked my makeup with Adam because I trusted him to be there for such an important occasion. My appointment had been confirmed the day before, so I planned my entire morning around it. I arrived on time only to find out that Adam was not coming because he had called in sick. Unfortunately, no one contacted me beforehand to let me know. I completely understand that illnesses and emergencies happen. However, not notifying a bride before she drives to her appointment on the morning of her bridal shower is unacceptable. A simple phone call, text, or email would have allowed me to make other arrangements. Instead, I was left scrambling at the last minute, adding unnecessary stress to a day I had been looking forward to for months. To make matters more confusing, I noticed Adam had posted on Instagram out with friends the night before. While I don't know the circumstances surrounding his illness, seeing those posts made it difficult to understand what happened. Regardless of the reason, the lack of communication is what I found most concerning. I wanted to bring this to your attention because this experience fell far below the level of professionalism I expected. Probably the worst blowout I've ever received. Stylist was rushing she asked if I wanted curls with an iron I said yes. She completely ignored that part and didn't do it. Had no light hairspray to finish a blowout. My hair frizzed up the moment I left the salon. Was not worth $65... No one was friendly at all in the establishment and products are not very nice could buy them at Ulta. read more

I've gotten blowouts all over the United States. This is now my place for them in Chicago. Absolutely loved my experience here. Loved Victoria. She's seriously so sweet. Loved the services. Loved my hair. This one is on West Huron, but with locations in Lincoln Park and the West Loop, you're covered if you're playing in any one of those hot spots. I spent a night of debauchery in River North, so this was the location I chose. Blowout & Style (shampoo, scalp massage, and blowout) is only $55. That's a great price for Chicago. A dry style is only $35. Come in with clean hair and they'll style if for only $35. That's a steal. Treat yourself. You really do deserve it read more

I have curly 3c hair and sometimes stylists are intimidated, but this was a great experience. My shampoo was amaaaazing with a good head massage and attention to detail. My stylist gave a good consultation and was very laid back. My hair was very smooth to the root and I am on day 3 of silky gorgeousness! I've had two really great experiences at Blowout Junkie River North, but the last one was so disappointing that I'm not sure if I'll go back. I emailed them directly to try and rectify the situation, but never received any call back or email which was just salt in the wound after a disappointing experience. To begin, the person I had intentionally scheduled with (because I love her work and have had her in the past) had called off and no one had contacted me to let me know. If this was the case, most likely I would have rescheduled. Upon arriving, I was told not one, but four people had called off so everything was backed up...again, nobody had called and informed me of this or I would have saved myself the trip with everything being delayed and the change of stylist. I've actually worked with the stylist who did end up having me (she has done my makeup before and is lovely), but unfortunately my blowout was done in haste, mostly rough dried, lacked any volume, and did not hold for my charity event that evening. I felt bad complaining about the finished product, as she had told me she had been on her feet all day and not eaten anything. I then had lashes put on (in under 10 minutes, which would have been super impressive) but they literally were both unsecured and falling off within 2 hours (they were not on for the event). Overall, I am just super unhappy with my experience and think the salon could have definitely notified its guests of these changes in advance (my appointment was at 3pm) so the customer could have made their own decision as to whether or not to proceed with the new program. The blowout and lashes I had done (especially the lashes) was extremely disappointing and not worth the time and money. read more

I walked in and they were able to get me an appointment in 30 minutes. I asked the girl for loose waves. She informed me she was training and would try. After an attempt, she told me she could not do then. So I asked for loose curls. She used a straightener to curl my hair into tight curls. She attempted to comb them out and turned them into a frizzy mess. She said "oh, it's so pretty". I needed to leave so I did not say anything. I paid and left. I emailed the provided email address and have yet to hear back two weeks later. I ended up washing and drying my own hair back at the hotel. Complete waste of time and money. read more

Firm believer in sending feedback directly to the business but when they dont acknowledged a terrible experience and take no action to fix it they deserve a bad review. Below is the email I sent in dec: Hello, I wanted to take the time to send you a note about my experience with Jaz on Sat at your Lincoln Park location. I can only say that it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had getting my hair done. She was incredibly rude. At several points during the service I had to pull the dryer cord from my neck as she was choking me. When I said something she said I need to put my head up. This had no impact. She didn't use protectant spray and it was so so hot I had to stop her as she was burning my scalp. When she was finished she didnt ask if I was happy. Instead I pointed out to her that this was nowhere near where I had shown her my parting. When I fixed that I had to ask her to fix the waves as the top of my hair was poker straight. Additionally when I asked her to use hairspray she gave me little to nothing. The owners finally acknowledged my email after I posted this and graciously refunded me and offered me a free blowout for my next visit, which I very much appreciate. read more

After getting two blowouts and a full face makeup application here over the past week, I can definitely say I am a fan and am only disappointed that I've lived a couple of blocks away for almost three years and only found this place now! I have super thick, pretty long, somewhat coarse hair and Te (Tay?) has given me two gorgeous blowouts. With just a round brush, she works magic. The first one lasted for a solid four days, and I feel equally good about the longevity on my current one. I've seen her working on other clients that have very diverse hairstyles and textures, so I think you will be pleased with her awesome brush and dryer skills no matter what your hair is like! At $45, this is a steal of a service. And makeup by Adam - wow! The last time I had my makeup done at a different blowout salon it was really horrible, so I was a little apprehensive, but I shouldn't have been! Adam was previously an artist at MAC, and the look he executed looked truly like me but way, way better. The subtle contouring, excellent eye makeup that made my eyes "pop, and the lashes that were exactly what I asked for in terms of drama, were all perfect. Adam worked quickly but expertly. I can't wait to have another formal occasion to use his skills again. Got a same-day appointment here on a Friday (during wedding season) and was really happy with my hair. It needed some touchups when I got home (curls in the front fell and a few bobby pins came loose) but my hair stayed up and looked great all night. Chose to book an appointment based on seeing some beautiful posts on social media (Instagram) since I had a special event. I let the person who took my reservation know which pictures I liked so she could pair me with the right stylist. My stylist Val greeted me, we discussed the overall look I was going for, the dress I would be wearing and what she felt would be best for the texture and length of my hair. Let's just say you get what you pay for. Yes, this place is cheaper than a normal hair salon but the stylists don't seem to be hair professionals and are simply focused on getting you in and out within an hour. I was going to a friends wedding and came in for a blowout and half updo. I provided photos and my stylist Toni had to redo it 3 times before it was tight and secure and it still looked nothing like the photos I provided. I told her that my hair was hard to curl and that I would need a lot of hairspray and product. She seemed bothered when I asked her to recurl portions of it and it still fell flat within an hour of leaving. I also had her fix things I wasn't happy with and it seemed like she didn't want to deal with it and was concerned about getting off of her shift (she straight up complained to a coworker about being double booked) and just seemed like she wanted to be done with me so she could leave. Honestly, my hair looked better when I came in and I could have saved myself $65 (including $10 tip) and done it myself to have a mediocre job or splurged and gone somewhere better. read more

I was there for a conference and weather was horrible in Chicago. I needed a blow out and sure enough they saved the day twice!! I went for a blowout on a random Tuesday, appt was easy to get. I had Hannah blow out my hair and she did a great job. Then a few days later we had a Gala and I made an appt for hair and makeup I sent an email and an appt was made. I did get an email to come in earlier if I could, so I rushed out and made my way to them. Ended up waiting til my original appt time which I didn't like too much because time was constrained and I could have used that time to workout. Got a round brush blowout a few months back and it was the worst experience I've ever had getting a blowout. The stylist was extremely aggressive when giving me a wash, hitting my head several times. When it came to the blow dry, the heat was WAY too hot and burned my scalp even after I kept flinching away. The heat was so hot that my hair burned off into the round brush. My hair stylist that cuts my hair was shocked when she saw it. About 4 inches of hair burned off my hair causing permanent damage. The stylist took notice of this but did not say anything. I could have done my hair myself and saved $50. The photos of my engagement did not look good, even with editing. My engagement photos were ruined. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I honestly do not remember the name of my stylist because he not only did not introduce himself, but didn't say one word to me the entire time, except to briefly ask me what I wanted. The whole experience was a weird silence, and he burned my scalp several times with the heat of the blow dryer, even though I flinched and said "ouch" several times. My blow out lasted a total of one hour before it went flat. My appointment lasted only 30 minutes and my stylist could not have given one hoot if I liked it or not.
