If I could give zero stars, I would. I booked what I thought was a simple blowout for a wedding, and somehow this salon turned it into a masterclass in how not to treat a customer. I showed up ready for my appointment, only to be told I "missed it" -- and instead of an ounce of flexibility, compassion, or basic customer service, they hit me with a $54 charge for absolutely nothing. Let me get this straight: I didn't receive a service, didn't sit in a chair, didn't even get a squirt of shampoo -- but they still charged me as if I had? What a brilliant business model. Take people's money, offer zero solutions, and call it "policy." The level of smug indifference was actually impressive. No effort to help, no reschedule, just a robotic "that's our policy" repeated like a script. It's wild that a business so obsessed with "no-shows" seems to have no problem no-showing on basic decency. I hope the $54 was worth it -- because that's the last dime this place will ever see from me. If you value customer service, honesty, or common sense, take your business anywhere else. read more

So after trying a few places to get a blowout and having no success (all booked for 4-2-22) I called Blowout Studio in Pittsford. Now to give you an idea I live in the city, this place is on Main Street Pittsford across from Breathe at Home. It's a cute little spot that was been open for five years. The inside is clean and tidy all light colors, bright lights and mirrors. It's got minimal seating to wait and I kind of stood around to check in as there was no place to sit and the person at the desk was cashing out someone and that took forever. I met Emily and she told me I could sit down in one of the available stylist chairs so I did that. Emily as it would happen (the same person at the desk) was to do my blowout. She asked me what I was interested in doing and I showed her a photo from my smart phone of what I had done for a wedding. Since I have blonde hair she asked me if it was ok to wash my hair with a purple shampoo as it counteracts brassy tones. That was just fine. She was pleasant and friendly,two other people were being dealt with one was getting a trial of wedding hair which was lovely to see. I have a short blond bob.. it's not hard to blowout and you can do all sorts of things with it She asked if I wanted some product in my hair I said sure cause at least in my case product helps the blowout. She basically blew it dry and used a round brush, dear reader it's a bit extra to have iron work i.e. curling iron or flat iron. I prefer a flat iron although I asked for it I really did not need it so I passed. I got a little weary when she said "you should do bangs" oh hells to the nah.. All in all I'm happy with my blowout just the price I felt was a bit much $45?! Sorry I'm not cheap but I have short hair.. whatever it's Pittsford Would I come back.. not sure.. call them for pricing as the online prices are incorrect. It's street parking as I was looking for a lot to park in but oh well that's on me. It was a nice thing to do but I think in my case with my hair it's too steep. 4 for the place/staff 3 for the pricing. read more

I had a really great experience here! I showed up for my appointment (which was crazy easy to make online), they got me right in. I showed Melissa a photo of what I wanted and she looked at it and did a fantastic job. It was rainy out that day so she sprayed it with extra hairspray. My hair was still beautiful through the rain into the next day. It was quick and easy and the price was what I expected. This place is a gem. read more

After my DryBar experience in the Burgh, I scheduled an appointment to have my hair blown out for a wedding in Rochester. Positives: the atmosphere is great. Nicely decorated, friendly staff, I was offered a drink as soon as I walked in the door. No negatives from the vibe at all. The girl who styled my hair was fun and engaging. We hit it off right away. Negatives: My hair fell flat in less than one hour. Granted, it was a hot day with moderate humidity- but so was the day I went to DryBar- and they accommodated for that with more and, I'm assuming, higher quality product. I had to curl my hair again as soon as I got back to my hotel. If in the area, I'd definitely give them another shot. I would specifically ask for them to make it last. read more

I needed somewhere to get my hair done before my wedding. As it was a very small affair, I was looking for a very simple blow out for my shoulder-length hair. I consulted with the stylist as I sat down in the chair, told her very clearly I had just 45 minutes (I called the week before and they advised that for my hair type, an appointment would usually be 30 - 40 minutes) and that I wanted only a standard blow out, with volume but no curls. She confirmed that I didn't want curls verbally back to me. I checked in with her 40 minutes into my appointment and reminded her I had a hard stop at 45 minutes (aka 5 more minutes) and she said ok. Then she took out a curling iron. I sighed and just let it happen, because I figured she was a professional and I have certainly seen a curling iron used for volume without dramatic curls. At 45 minutes, though, it was clear she was just curling my ends. I (genuinely!) said "thank you so much for the blow out, it looks great! But I've gotta go, I have an appointment at city hall to get married." And she seemed hurt? She got flustered, put the wand down, and walked into the back room. I got up and went to the register to pay, didn't see her again. All in all, it was fine. I brushed out the curls for a few minutes and was able to soften them into a wave, and after I did that, it looked completely fine (although not exactly what I asked for). TLDR; It was a little bit of a challenging appointment, because it really didn't seem like she listened to me regarding my available time and/or not wanting curls. The place is cute, though. Great location on Main St, pretty easy to find parking, and the owner was very nice. Overall, I would recommend them, I would just recommend that you're very clear and firm with what you do and do not want. read more

This place is amazing i can't believe I just last year I found out about this place. All the girls there are very professional and very talented at there job. Jess the owner is so nice and down to earth makes it such a nice atmosphere as some salons can have almost a stuck up feel but not the blow out studio. My experience at the Blowout Studio was amazing. I was really wanting to get my hair done before the weekend and Jessica Rose, the owner, was so sweet and kept me on a cancelation list and was able to contact me to come in. So glad I was able to because the experience was awesome! She styled my hair just the way I wanted it and it felt light, amazingly soft and healthy once she had finished - something I can never achieve blow drying my hair by myself.
