I've been booking Auriel for haircuts here for about a year now and I can't recommend her enough! I tend to choose Asian stylists because they are familiar with my hair texture and style, and Auriel truly gets it right every time. All her tools are clean and she is extremely precise. I've bought a few hair products from the salon too after trying them out at my appointment and getting recommendations, and my hair has never felt or looked healthier! The whole process from shampooing (they use Oribe! ) to the cut, blow dry, and style feels so luxurious and relaxing. The salon is clean and everybody is very welcoming. I booked an appointment for lowlights, paying a considerable amount for my short hair. Instead, the stylist gave me uneven layers that looked like a mullet, and my hair color looked unchanged. After I kindly addressed this, they invited me back for a fix, but the stylist removed my natural highlights, dyed my hair one flat color, and spilled dye on my sweater and neck. I was asked to return a third time, where the owner applied bleach without foils, leaving me with patchy, uneven orange highlights. When I called back, the owner dismissed it as a "money issue," claiming I wanted a style I couldn't afford, which was untrue. Everyone I know agrees my hair looks red and orange. Avoid this place. They also audio record you with consent. read more

Auriel is great. However, I won't return to this shady business that STOLE MY MONEY. When I booked an appointment online, I was charged $25 as deposit for the haircut. However, I was charged for the full haircut price plus tip at the end of the appointment. The deposit was not applied. Shortly after I left I realized that and called the salon and was told that the refund was issued to my card. After almost two more weeks there was still no refund posted to my card. I called again and was assured that refund is on its way. Over a week later I called again and was told that refund was issued and there was nothing that they can do. However, there is no refund transaction receipt that they can send me to prove that a refund was issued. They just took the credit off my account but it certainly did not go back to my card. Update on 7/22: The owner never did a "manual transaction" to refund my $25 deposit as he claimed. In fact, I started a dispute with my bank and the bank indicated that the business did not respond to them. In addition, as I gathered the emails and receipt to attach to my complaint to the TN Attorney General, I realized that they charged me $104 base price at checkout for the haircut when the appointment confirmation email said $100. In conclusion, I paid $155 for a $100 haircut, of which only $26 is the tip and I doubt that my stylist actually got the entire amount. If you are willing to pay 155% more than the listed price for a haircut, it'd be better to just tip the 55% directly to your stylist with cash or Venmo. read more

Let me first start by saying Rachel, who has been cutting my hair for over a year has done an incredible job, especially when it so hard to find stylists that can cut hair like mine. I've only preferred to give her business and tipped her accordingly over the last year since moving to Nashville. My only gripes are with the misalignment of both of our schedules. Her time blocks are usually in the middle of the workday, so I would be coming out of meetings/ getting back from work trips to make my appointment. There were some where I was ~10 minutes late because of this and after some time I had a no show because I was stuck in an airport and they charged my card, fair enough. Today, as usual, I had a meeting running up right at 10am which was my appointment time so I was 8 min late to my appointment, and I walked in and the front desk lady (Carlee who does my brows) was excessively stern with me, showing 0 empathy, said they couldn't see me anymore, will still charge my card, and is essentially expelling me from getting my haircuts there. I understand rules and policies, but after giving this establishment my business and trying my best to make my appointments, I was bothered by how dismissive they were, especially during the holidays. You'd think after building mutual rapport with a stylist where you talk about your life and their life/family that there would be more alternatives than to cut me off like I am meaningless customer. This is truly unfortunate because I did like coming here, they do a great job, but customer loyalty doesn't seem to be a priority for this business. read more

I stopped by the salon to see if the market was going to be open later, and the salon staff could not have been more accommodating! Diana promptly opened the storefront for me and was very patient as I picked out my items. The market sells a lot of fun products, including candles (from The Gay Agenda Candle Company and Love People, Do Good Candle Co.), mugs, stickers, and totes. Auriel was fantastic! I always experience a tinge of anxiety when getting my hair cut but she was so amazing through the entire process. She took the time to listen to what I wanted, reviewed inspiration pics and kept dialogue open during the cut so we could adjust as needed. I went to Truman Grey Salon yesterday for the haircut, they really did a great job of cleaning hygiene. When I arrived, they recently deep cleaned chairs and whole station. Each station is divided by the plastic board. The awesome front desk young lady will wipe down the POS machine with sanitizer before you swipe your credit card. I've been looking for a new stylist since moving back to Nashville and I have definitely found my hair's new home. I bought a Yelp coupon and made an appointment for the following Saturday morning for a cut and color. I got to the salon right as they were opening and the coordinator was super friendly. My stylist, Dena, arrived shortly after that and we got started. She was absolutely wonderful! She took the time to do a thorough consultation before mixing up the prettiest red I've ever had in my hair. I absolutely love it. She was really easy to talk to and explained about the products she was using which is awesome for trying to recreate styles at home. We decided a trim for the cut since I didn't want to lose much length. My bangs are back to their former glory! After a blow dry and style I had spent roughly two and a half hours in her chair (I've got long, thick hair) and it flew by. For the type of service and awesome results I got, I was shocked at how affordable Elan is. I've spent almost double for just a color at another salon in Nashville and wasn't half as happy with the end result. The salon itself is adorable. There's 5 chairs and the stations are gorgeous. While the salon is a bit small, it didn't feel crowded or loud even with a busy Saturday crowd. It was apparent that many of the clients are regulars with their stylists and I loved that vibe. Used the $25 Yelp coupon while I was in town and was pleasantly surprised with my experience. The location itself is situated about a 10min drive from downtown Nashville and in a cute neighborhood. Walking in, the staff were incredibly friendly and offered something to drink right away. My haircut, hair massage, and blow job themselves were all wonderfully done. I moved back to Seattle from Nashville about 18 months ago, and one of the biggest things I miss about the city is Jacki at Elan Germantown. When I first moved to Nashville, I was looking for a salon that used Bumble and bumble products. Referred to then-Gloss (now Elan Germantown), I perused the website and picked Jacki for her love of coloring blondes. From the moment I walked in, I absolutely fell in love. Jacki is the best stylist I've ever had and probably ever will have. Each time I visited, I completely trusted her to work her magic and do something great with my locks; even trusting her enough to turn me brunette. The salon is great, too! It's clean, modern and very fun. Adam is a hoot and I always loved the cross-stylist/client conversations that would go on during appointments. There's definitely never a dull moment at Elan. If I could rate Elan 10 stars/5, I totally would. It's worth every penny to have an awesome experience with an even better stylist! read more

Just moved to Nashville and called the salon to see if they had availability and if anyone there was able to do blonde hair. Was told I could come in the next day for an appointment with Missy. Let's just say I wish I never went. I've spent thousands on my hair over the years to keep my blonde and she's ruined it in one appointment. I have stripped chunky highlights that go all they way to my scalp - quite literally looks like Karen highlights. I asked to stay cool toned and she made my hair bright yellow and orange. When doing the hair cut she said she was giving me long layers and good god this lady made the top layer of my hair ear length and the bottom layer shoulder length - no blending of the layers. I am aware I could go back in to have her "fix" it but I am terrified to even have her anywhere near my hair. I went to another salon in town as soon as I left her chair and the hair stylist said she couldn't touch my hair for a few weeks due to Missy frying my hair with the bleach. I normally take an hour to lift with heat and Missy only had me in foils for 25 minutes. Both my mom and sisters cried when they saw my hair. I will be wearing hats until I can get this fixed. The staff were all super friendly and easy to talk to- they made you feel very welcome and comfortable. They offered me water and a glass of wine while I waited with my foils in. Abbey was my stylist and she is awesome! I have straight, fine, ash blonde hair and she knew exactly how to touch up my roots without making me look brassy or orange. I had come in to the salon with a blunt bob that I could only part on one side and wanted to be able to do a center part or side part and she gave me a cut that worked perfectly. She also was very fun to talk to and gave me lots of recommendations for things to check out around town. I wish I was able to stay longer so I could go to her next time. I waited a few weeks to review my hair after Jacki worked her magic, you know, just to see if it was really as good as it was when I walked out of the salon. Well, update, my hair rules! I have thick, coarse, frizzy, red head hair... You know the type: it's pretty in color and unmanageable in every other way. Jacki worked some sort of voodoo gypsy magic on it, and for the first time in my entire 30 year life (literally, for the FIRST TIME), I adore my hair. She made me a beach waved goddess, basically.
