I judge breakfast by the coffee ( excellent) and there corned beef hash. If it's homemade. It is and excellent! The service is excellent. BLT is a great local spot for both breakfast and lunch. This corner Cafe is situated across the street from the St. James train station along the Port Jefferson line of the LIRR. It may not look like much from the outside, but the food will be worth it. There are only a few tables and a few spots at the counter, but they always seem to have a high turnover rate. It's a family run establishment that provides good quality food for a very reasonable price. The omelettes are delicious and their pancakes are incredibly fluffy. You cannot go wrong with their hash browns, home fries or their corned beef hash. Classic breakfast items and always served promptly and always fresh. If you are in the mood for lunch with a sandwich, wrap or a variety of salads, they have that too. A favorite of mine is the grilled chicken sandwich with pesto, roasted red peppers and fresh mozzarella. Their house made pasta salad offers a nice balance and crunch with carrots and isn't completely covered in mayo. Absolutely recommend BLT to anyone and everyone! read more

I never leave a review, however, I'm a frustrated customer. The day we went to BLT the Restaurant was not busy. We sat outside and our order took over 50 minutes. Came here on a Saturday morning. First thing you notice is the place is small! If you and the family are looking for a place that has allot of room - keep looking. Second thing I noticed was that everyone seemed to know everyone else. Nice little homestyle cafe. The food was very good. I had a breakfast platter with a side of corn beef hash. The food definitely lived up to the expectation. So... Pros - The food is good. Has a nice homestyle atmosphere and the wait staff is very nice. Cons - This place is small. This place is a gem. When you walk thru the door of BLT Cafe, it seems that you leave 2019 suburban Long Island and enter a friendlier place in a friendlier time. Every employee is delightful and sincere. The delicious food prepared right in front of you. Here's the Scoop: My honey and I came for breakfast here because Bill S. reviewed that the corn beef hash was so delish. So that's what I ordered because it's one of my favorites. I ordered the corn beef hash platter. The platter comes with eggs cooked your choice, home fries and toast. It's a big platter. I was surprised. I asked for scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese . Upon arrival my platter was steaming hot. I like my food hot. Even though some of my hash was a little crispy around the edges I enjoyed it. I couldn't finish my platter it just was a lot of food. So come hungry. The atmosphere is quaint like a mom and pop restaurant. Furnishings are old but comfortable. There are about 5 tables and counter space to sit as well. The bathroom is tiny but clean. The service is friendly and the chef cooks fast. They're only open for breakfast and brunch. Compared to Maureen's which is also a family business I would say it's in 2nd place. Yes, I would come here again because I enjoyed my food. Lots of regulars coming in and out talking with the owner and other regulars. Gives it more of a family feel. A good paint job, some new pics and furnishings would spiff this place up. However, my fellow Yelpers come and check it out if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed. read more

BLT cafe is a tiny brunch place that's easy to miss and right next to the railroad. There's not much of an ambiance and their outdoor seating is just one round concrete table with benches. However, what they lack in ambiance, they make up for in food. We ordered the breakfast special, spinach tomato feta omelet platter, and poached eggs benedict with pastrami. The pancake that came in the breakfast special was so fluffy, the eggs benedict was perfectly poached, and the homefries were nicely seasoned and crispy. Overall, a solid brunch place and when we were there it was busy but without crazy long lines. read more

When we arrived I found it funny that the parking lot truly can only fit 4 cars at a time. Lol. The place was not crowded and we seated ourselves at a table next to the heater. That heater was my best friend! It was pumping out warm air like a champ. Thank God because outside was extremely frigid. I loved that thing so much that I had to snap a pic of my beloved. LOL The waitresses were both great. One of these sweet ladies was the owner's daughter. Prompt & courteous service. Quick with refills and friendly enough to initiate casual conversation. I felt like a regular already. Everyone dining were greeting one another. I guess thats how much they love visiting. I rode The corn beef hash wave & lets just say I'm thankful!! First of all, watching the Chef make our food was awesome because I saw his hands moving a whole lot! He was using actual real ingredients! The plates arrived fresh & hot! Really fresh food. Great burgers, fresh made. Omelettes are delish. Love spinach, tomato and feta.

The fete, tomato and egg omelets here are fantastic! I really like the hash browns. They are real red potatoes cut, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Nice helping too. All the breakfast items here are good. Only complaint is the seating is limited, so get there early to get a seat or sit at the counter to enjoy the cooking display. Went here only once for lunch and had the hamburger. The burgers here rival burgers I've gotten at burger specialty shops. They make their own burgers! No Costco patties served here (which really aren't bad for a backyard BBQ, but not when ordering out...) Another highly recommend! read more

Whenever I am talking to friends and family about eateries in the local area, BLT is usually not a restaurant that immediately comes up in conversation. It's location is not in the main Lake Avenue strip of Saint James; it is located across from the Train Station. I went in for the first time around 7 years ago, and have never been disappointed since. The food at BLT is amazing. Whether you are coming to the cafe for breakfast or lunch, you will not be disappointed. The coffee they serve has a strong flavor, and the staff is quick to refill your cup. I'm never disappointed with any of the omelets (although I have a tendency to stick with the western omelet, which is my favorite). Also, the home fries are delicious! I was slightly disappointed today when my friend was stung by a bee and none of the staff came over to see if she was okay. Both of the doors to the restaurant were left open (since I am assuming there is no AC), so a few flies and bees were flying around while we ate our meals. It was a cool day, so I wish the front door was closed so critters would be kept outside and away from the tables! read more

It is a great place to eat. It is a local joint that many people come to as witnessed as my wife and I sat at the counter and had a very nice breakfast. The service was very good as we were checked on by not only two waitresses, but the cook (and I believe owner) engaged us as to how the food was. My wife had an omelette of kielbasi and cheddar cheese that was excellent. I went simple with two eggs over easy and the home fries. The home fries were very good and I believe it is the choice of red potatoes to make them as opposed to white. Also, the portions are big and staff very attentive. Local place. The place is kept old but clean. Maybe nostalgic is a better word then old? But I just care about the food really. And the food is spot on high quality and perfectly cooked. Dad and I went here for our first breakfast in Saint James. We just moved here and we love to find good Breakfast spots. Mr. Steve owns BLT and is super friendly. He uses Boars Head sausage and bacon which gives him super high marks for me and dad. Carla works behind the scenes and made me an awesome chocolate milk. Check out the pic. I had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich that was made perfectly. Dad had two eggs over easy on top of Mr. Steve's famous corn beef hash. He said it was awesome. Cute little place, my wife and I went for the first time in a while. The food was really good for the most part. I got 2 eggs sunny side up with kielbasa, home fries and rye toast. Some of the home fries had a nice crust on them, but not over cooked. My eggs were a bit cold though. My wife got a roll with eggs over easy, home fries and ham. Eggs were more like medium. Absolutely LOVE! I order takeout all the time, the couple that owns it is very kind and friendly, they always give me great portions at an unbeatable price. The noodles that come with the sandwiches are very tasty. And the sandwiches...incredible as always!
