I have trusted my face and body to Blu Cocoon for laser hair removal for the past 5 years. I'm pretty shy about having to strip down in front of strangers but not here. I'm happy to get in that towel and start lasering any hair off! The girls there are so friendly, they have never made me feel anything but comfortable. I visited this place today, and honestly I have to say it's okay. I was introduced to this place by my tanning salon (Planet Beach). They presented me with a gift certificate for a VibraDermabrasion. The VibraDermabrasion was worth 150$ and if I wasn;t presented the gift certificate I wouldn't get this on a basis. Maybe a facial...but certainly not this. I have to say the staff is friendly and the lady that did my face was extremely nice and had great customer service. There was a wait before i was seen, and there was only once person working at the time, and it would be more convient to have more than one staff member doing facials or what not. Because I went with my girlfriend and it would've been better back to back. I do think the prices are super expensive, and if you look hard enough there are spa salon out there that are much cheaper. As a struggling college student, I think some of the prices are a little too much. read more

I came here after reading all the positive Yelp reviews about laser hair removal. I felt it was a better option for me than waxing. Note, that it's never permanent, but it will significantly reduce and thin the hair. The first time, I went in for a consultation and met with one of the staff. You go over what areas you want to do and they'll set you up with one of the staff. They're all very professional, but still very personable. I usually work with Susan. I've had various areas done and have been very satisfied with the results. You usually have to go 3-5 sessions to have good results so you should ask about their package deals. When you go for a touch-up, the price is usually less than the original treatment which is nice. This year, they had to start having the clients apply their own numbing cream due to some new law, but it's fairly easy. Make sure to rub that cream in or you'll be sorry! You may want to take Tylenol if it's your first time as it will be painful at times, but you have to realize how worth it is in the end. Also, it's better to get through the lasers quickly and bite the pain then to prolong your appointment. Remember.....NO PAIN, NO GAIN! And once you do it and see the results, you're gonna get a little addicted and go back for other areas! That's what happened to me! :) read more

I love this place and I recommend this place to anyone looking for laser hair reduction. I would give 5 stars, but I'm very particular on who gets all 5 from me :) PROS: Great location (in the Coleman plaza in San Jose), friendly/knowledgeable staff that's not pushy, simply and nicely designed space, accommodating with scheduling. They have great products such as their exfoliating mit, and some creams by Obaju (I don't use it but my girlfriend says it's been doing wonders). Also, I appreciate the fact they call the process a "reduction" rather than "removal" -- they were upfront and honest that the hairs on my underarms may come back and will need maintenance from time to time. I just had my 5th session and I am beyond satisfied with the results. I am going back for a 6th session/maintenance by choice though I don't think I need it. CONS: Different nurses have done my sessions, but I particularly like Lisa because of her bedside manners and she's light on her hands, and works with me when I'm being a pansy. Not to take away from the other nurses because they ALL have been great... I just tend to click with others more than some and like to request them... kind of like how we ladies like to stick with a specific person to do our nails =) FINAL ANSWER: I highly recommend this place and at least go for a free consultation if you're shopping around for these types of services. read more

12/20/07 - Update...I just had a laser hair removal treatment yesterday. I have had them before and I must say this was the best experience I have had. All of the people that work there are genuinly so nice and helpful. They make you feel comfortable during treatment and are very easy to talk to. Again I think that this is the best MedSpa around. Blu Cocoon Med Spa is awesome! I have been to at least 4 other medical spas for various treatments. Blu Cocoon is by far the best! The office is small, but because of that the personal treatment you get is awesome. Every time I have been in there all of the staff is very cheerful, and knowledgeable. The consultant was able to answer all of my questions and offered suggestions as to what treatments to get, I never felt pressure to get anything done, but ended up getting a package of treatments on my own. Excellent facility! I've had laser hair removal treatments done on several areas at this place and am really impressed. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and professional. The business hours are great since I don't have to request time off of work just to get in here ("doctor's appt". every 6 weeks is a bit suspicious). For the actual service, these ladies are very thorough! They definitely cater to the individual patient's needs and concerns. Some areas are more uncomfortable to get treated than others (full bikini) and the nurses I've had were completely aware of this and worked with me to get me through the procedure. I love that the nurses don't just rush through the procedure to get through the discomfort. They're very encouraging and give you time to "recover" before continuing. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with other med spas. I've been to a few others in San Jose as a result of online deals and none came close to Blu Cocoon. Blu Cocoon also likes to reward their customers with occasional deals so no need to have a horrible experience at other places just to save a few bucks. read more

Cristina and her team are amazing. All of them makes you feel right at home. I've gotten the laser treatment and a facial there and both are great. Well the laser hurts a little on the second time but the results are wonderful! I just had my 2nd treatment and it really shows! Another great part is that they dont push you to buy products. And they dont tell you that you need this and that and stump on your self esteem. They just answer whatever question you have about yourself! Plus Cristina even does consultations over yelp! I really wish they would update their scheduling system. I like Vagaro or Schedulicity because it simplifies booking appointments. Requesting dates online and waiting for a phone call is so archaic because often times they will miss me since I'm working. Then I call back and get their answering service. Because they are booked out so far, it gets a little frustrating. Love the service and place otherwise. My girl is professional and injects my Dysport quickly and painlessly. read more

Just purchased a package here for various skin treatments (mostly focused on under-eye area). I'm just happy that there are non-surgical alternatives to consider nowadays, for small problem areas. I will update as I go along, but so far Cristina has been very helpful in answering all my questions and I look forward to starting my treatments here. Yay! =) UPDATE: I have had one treatment so far and it was GREAT! I am looking forward to my next one... I never thought I could say getting a slightly painful treatment could be fun, but Cristina made it fun! We were laughing up a storm, good thing I was her last client, haha. Will update after I have more treatments... Update 2: Well, the undereye treatments made no difference, I'm sad to report :( There goes another $400 down the drain *sigh*. Meanwhile though, I DID enjoy the photo-facial treatments, they were FABULOUS and I can't wait to get another one. I have some other payments I pre-payed for but haven't had time to collect on yet, so I will have more updates as I go along. I came here with a friend because the place came highly recommended by one of her friends. Both times I've been here, I've had a great experience! The friend desk staff is super welcoming & sweet. They also have free water bottles and chocolates for customers which I thought was sweet. The place has a really laid back atmosphere and is cute & kept clean. Tami was the nurse I worked with and not only is she is extremely friendly and professional, but she is great at her job & knows her stuff! I came in for lip fillers and about a week or two after I wanted a few minor tweaks done to my lips, and she was more than happy to accommodate my needs. She has a really laid back personality and knows how to make you feel comfortable. What I love about her most is how she makes sure that you leave loving the outcome. My 1st appointment at this location was the end of September 2011. I wanted to focus on getting control of my acne and acne scarring. I'm 24 y.o. and never really had acne while I was a teen, and had been suffering from mild/moderate adult acne due to stress and hormones. So I made an appointment for a Corrective Acne Facial with Teresa Olivera. She was so knowledgeable about everything she was doing and explained to me in depth about my skin, acne and my acne scarring (hyperpigmentation). I decided to continue with several rounds of facials every 2-3wks, with an acne extraction here and there, which did WONDERS to improve my breakouts. She recommended, but didn't push products on me and suggested I use them to help my treatment process along. I slowly bought my entire skin regime, that cost me a pretty penny, but has been WELL WORTH it. Fast forward to my last treatment (I moved back to SoCal) in Feb of this year...5 months later and I couldn't be more pleased with my results. I now feel confident to go completely make-up FREE when I want, which was my ultimate goal. My skin looks and feels amazing and drastically different from my initial appointment. Ever had a facial that was SO good you could cry with joy? That happened to me, here, yesteday. Jamie Ricks was my gal and she was amazing! Great bedside manner, informative, easy going and really took care of my face. At one point when she used the cooling balls I nodded off - her massage technique on the skin is so great. The facility is sparkling clean. The front desk girl is friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean and relaxing - heated beds a nice touch. This place is excellent. Products were suggested but not pushed, which is great. I have just found my regular facial spot! Oh, and I called in the morning and they got me in 4 hours later. Awesome! read more

Love this place! Started coming here for regular extractions and a facial and I have to say that my skin has cleared up really nicely. I use to have really fine acne bumps on my forehead and some on my cheek but every since I switched to Obagi and have been coming here every 6 weeks - there are barely any. NOW IM NOT GOING TO LIE - extractions do hurt. There are little dots on your face after the procedure so dont plan a big night out right after your first one. The dont get easier but they do get better because if you go often they wont have to do that many!! :) The staff there is also AMAZING and really sweet. Went in for a classic facial with Jamie Ricks. She is super nice. she listened to my concerns and goals on skin care. She also asked me what my expected results from the facial were. She then suggested the classic facial. She did a good job. I am happy. My skin felt a bit too dry for the next week... but other than that the redness from the extractions etc... did not last for more than a day - which is normal.... I will go back fo sho!!! I had a very pleasurable experience of coming here based solely on other Yelpers reviews. You guys did great!! Im a big advocate on skin care and I'm happy I tried their: -vibradermabrasion ($99) -regular facial ($99) as a package and it was well worth it. Im sure you're curious about the ambiance of the place. It was nicely decorated with contemporary style furniture with paintings and little details like white orchids around the area. When you first arrive you are greeted by the friendly receptionist who offers a drink - tea, bottled water etc., while you wait. You attend a consult initially and Christina (owner) was very helpful in this respect. She cheerfully answers all your questions and gives good information and explains the processes thoroughly. I had Adrian as my aesthetician and she was very helpful and offered excellent service. The experience was pleasant and she gave informative points on skin care. I appreciated her down-to-earth personality. I left with Supracor exfoliator ($12) and it works great. Im an ultrasound technologist back in school for my master's so its a little on the pricey side for us starving-college kids but its well a worth-it treat. My skin was rough the first day and I left it product-free and now after the top layer has been thoroughly flaked off.... The new skin is soft, supple and smooth!!! I finally had the courage to go through the laser hair removal so found this place through yelp. OMG, Cristina is amazingly funny and thorough. The staffs there makes you feel really comfortable. I made an appointment for a consultation and I was so pumped that I was ready for the real thing that day. Luckily, Cristina was able to squeeze me in. I bought the package and just within my first treatment, I noticed a huge difference. I am a wimp when it comes to pain but I survived so will you! The smell of burning hair was kind of gross and all I was chanting was "the price I pay for beauty" and soon enough it was. I called last notice this morning because the spa I originally booked with ran out of product at last minute after my appointment being on the books for over a month. This is as good as it gets. I'll bare my soul a little here. I'm an aging hipster and over the last couple of years I started noticing age [sun] spots on my cheeks and lines around my mouth [nasolabial folds] from not enough sun block and too many cigarettes when I was younger. Fast forward to two weeks ago. I live in the Garden Alameda neighborhood and make an effort to frequent the businesses in my area, which includes going into Target with canvas bags (which really freaks out their cashiers) While leaving Target, I saw a sign outside of Blu Cocoon which read "Wrinkle Free Friday". It was too tempting to resist. I went in and made an appointment for a consultation. My partner and I went into the consultation together and they weren't phased by the gay thing (not too shocking in 95126, but you never know). Cristina and Tamara made me feel comfortable and explained the procedures and the benefits. I left with a box of Retin-A and an appointment for Restalyne. Today I had the Restalyne done and the results are amazing. The change is very subtle, but I look 10 years younger. Cristina was great during the procedure and made sure that I was comfortable and felt no pain. I left with a clear idea of what to expect over the next couple of weeks. She also made sure that I left clean and with just the right amount of tinted lotion on my face so that no one but me knew that I had a procedure done. Would I go back? Facials are a monthly necessity for me and am happy to report that my experiences here are wonderful. I have been twice now for them and think I actually fell asleep during the last experience (that's a good thing!). The staff that works there is so nice and smiles when you walk in! I have been seen on time, and like that they keep a file on what services I have received. The best part is that the extraction process is one of the best I have received. Of course it is a little uncomfortable but like my mom says, "It hurts to be pretty" :) I highly recommend this med spa. I also like the fact that they give back to the community. I had a facial here because it was convenient and seemed like a good place. When I arrived, 3 girls (women) were chitchatting behind the counter about makeup and stuff like that...kind of unprofessional. I waited and before long the aesthetician came out and I went in for my facial. I had had 1 facial in my life just a few weeks before at my gym, so that is my reference point. The Blue Cocoon facial burned my face and was not at all relaxing. The bed was cold and uncomfortable and the aesthetician was sort of going through the motions as opposed to really caring about the client's comfort. Facials shouldn't burn and my first one was so relaxing, with a facial massage, neck massage, etc. instead of just slopping stuff on my face in a certain order. I seriously doubt I would ever come here again. read more

I got a yelp account just to review Blu Cocoon. This place is waaaaaay overrated and not worth the money. The customer service was Great, too bad that is not going to make my acne any better. I had a facial there and it was far from meeting my expectations. I've paid half the price and have had better facials and results. They sold me the wrong products and my skin freaked out, when i called them back they did not seem to feel bad because they had given me a product to harsh for my skin, but instead just adviced me to discontinue using it and that it works for some people. It was horrible. The extraction was painful and I thought was done so hastily and rough that it left scabs on my face. I'm on my third treatment with Blu Cocoon and let me just tell you, they are the BEST! My most recent experience with them says it all... My appointment was on Wed, 11/09. I had just gotten my monthly visitor (ladies, you know what I mean) so my skin was extra sensitive. Susan was my awesome nurse. About a few minutes into the treatment on my face, the pain was becoming close to unbearable. Normally, I can fight through it, but this time was bad. Susan stopped the treatment and noticed my face was very red and warm. I let her know I was going on my honeymoon on Thursday, 11/17 so she stopped the treatment to be on the safe side and asked me to come back on Friday after hours. Even though they were booked, she still fit me in. So, on Friday, I got there at 5:15p.m. and let them know that I was going to a concert at 7pm. They had me numbed and treated all before 6:15! Susan and another nurse double teamed my treatment with one icing my face as the other performed the laser treatment. My face healed wonderfully and the hair is almost gone. I am so happy I chose to go with Blu Cocoon. Their customer service and care for patients is truly commendable. Susan is the best! read more
