We tried it today tho and I have mixed feelings about because the breakfast food was pretty bland and the prices were like Starbucks. Like 6-7 bucks for a coffee or small sandwich, also the coffee machine was broken so we couldn't even get anything to drink so idk what to rate it lol. As a team order the food was on time, as expected if it was put in early. In addition the sandwiches rang from Sandwich melts to croissant and bagel breaded and to classic whole wheat. Met my son for lunch here since i was in town. He comes regularly since he is a student at A&M. Ordered the indigo sandwich. Had to let it cool for a moment since it was so fresh out of the oven. Very tasty, hot and steamy. It is chicken breast on focaccia bread with tomato aioli, spinach and provolone. Excellent sandwich. I would definitely order it again. Finished off my meal with a chocolate pistachio tart. Looks amazing. But unfortunately it seems to just be chocolate pudding with a bit of pistachios sprinkled on, in a plain crust. It was only ok. I do like the layout of the place. Lots of random type booths or table areas to sit. It is definitely not just table after table lined up, all the same. They are an artisan bakery that bakes everything from scratch, starting from 3 or 4 am in the morning. Doubling as a restaurant, they serve fresh bagels, pastries, breads, pizzas, sandwiches, desserts, salads, and soups. Every month features specials, such as peach pecan scone, candied orange twist, and key lime tarts for this month of June. Additionally, they have weekly bread and pastry specials. I typically go to Blue Baker to eat their scone specials, but everything on their menu is superb. Their breads are moist, have the perfect crumb and texture (a little chewy, perfect crunchy golden crust that you can bite through, a little sweet, moist enough for bread), and show off that artisan, made-by-hand look. Their sweet breads and pastries are delicious and varied. My favorite sweet breads are the zucchini bread sold every Sunday, the blueberry peach bread (THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST) on Tuesdays, and the cinnamon swirl bread on Thursdays. I have yet to try the red, white, and blue sweetbread, but I am very excited to get it when July 4th rolls around. Cupcakes are large, maybe 2/3 the size of Costco-sized cupcakes. I have gotten the Boston Cream Pie and the Zucchini cupcakes before. Tasty, not too sweet, but definitely sweet. Good, standard. Maybe a bit dense for cake texture. Cookies are huge too. They offer many types every day: chocolate chip, chocolate walnut, chocolate decadence, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin. Special flavors are rotated in weekly and monthly, such as white chocolate macadamia, sugar, ginger. Scones are about the size of the ones as Starbucks, but feature different flavors that allow the buttery saltiness of the bread shine while melding with the sweets of the fruits incorporated or the sugar crystals on top. With the addition of nuts, the scones also give a nice crunch. Their pizzas are made Neapolitan style, which is a thin crisp crust, a touch of marinara sauce, and a delicate addition of fresh, quality toppings. Once before, I went with my BF and we ordered the four cheese tomato and the D'Vinchee. The four cheese tomato was delicious, with fresh slices of tomato, melty spots of mozarella everywhere, freshly chiffoned (sp?) basil, and drizzles of just perfect marinara over a bubbly thin crust. I liked mine better than the D'Vinchee, which was also good but I'm not a meat person and not as big a fan of portabella mushrooms. The D'Vinchee has olive oil, mozarella, sausage, roasted portabella mushrooms, chicken, and cilantro. These pizzas are not as filling as Pizza Hut or Dominos (as in one slice won't fill you, but 1/2 to a whole 9" pizza will), but they are high quality pizzas. Prices are somewhat high, upwards of $8-10 for a meal. Individual breads and pastries are quite affordable. Scones are about $2.25; cupcakes around $3.50 (a bit pricey, but they are large); breads about $4.50 for a loaf (I get day-olds for half off) or $3.00 for baguettes, ciabatta, focaccia. Despite the somewhat higher prices for meals, you are paying for the quality of your food. All the workers here are also extremely nice, fast, and wonderful. This is, again, one of my favorite places in College Station. Hit either location on University or Dominik Drive in College Station, or their newest store in Austin, TX. This is one artisan bakery and restaurant that truly deserves to be tasted! read more

My favorite deli/sandwich place in good ole Cstat. I love their chicken pesto pizza, bread bowls, coffees, cookies, and club sandwich. I've never had a bad experience here. The only thing on the menu I didn't enjoy was their salad with salmon. Very minuscule amount of salad which made the salad just normal and plain...not worth the money. The chicken pesto pizza is so good and has thin crust, even distribution of toppings and the pesto is very tasty. It's also a healthier option than other pizzas on the menu like the meat lovers one for example. There's ample seating inside and out and the outside seating has shade under umbrellas and is right by the fountain too. read more

Most places I have one regular dish I always order, but at blue baker it's closer to 5 "regular" dishes I swap around depending on how I feel. I'm from Hawaii so I have never experienced a Blue Baker location. All I can say is yummy. If you ever get to eat here, you must have the lobster bisque. It's better than some of the soups I've had in fine dining restaurants. read more

A little on the pricey side - but then I guess so is McDonald's theses days. I got their "Indigo" and added more stuff on it, which made it hard to eat without making a mess. After hearing great reviews about their homemade cupcakes, and reading online that they make them everyday; my family and I made a special trip to get together here from Austin and Houston. We ordered the Raspberry and Dreamsicle cupcakes as well as the Aztec Brownie. My first thought upon biting into the Raspberry Cupcake, was that it was really hard. I work in a bakery, I know what old cupcake taste like, and this one was old. The Dremsicle was a bit softer but the flavor was off. The brownie was defently spicy, but they seemed to forget to add sugar to the recipe. We added honey. In the end only a few bites of the cupcakes were eaten before we took them back. They confirmed that the raspberry cupcake was at least 37 hours old. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was very quiet. I could see how it would be a great lunch spot too. The tomato parmesan soup was really good and I'm kind of a stickler on that. My Husband got a large pesto pizza and I had a few slices. Yum. Could totally have eaten a whole one. I gave 5 stars even though the sweet tea wasn't sweet & the chocolate cookie was WAY too sweet with no real chocolate taste. Also, I understand the decor is sopposed to be all "industrial" looking but I think placing some wicker or straw baskets with fresh flowers would add a nice touch of warmth to match the home baked goodness of the main meals. Blue Baker is a College Station original and classic. It's a solid stop for good sandwiches and healthy options, and they also offer pizza and other unhealthy (tasty) options. Their original location is smaller but still great. This location is bigger and located in a more happening area with other restaurants. Good folks working here - friendly service every time. I've gotten the Tejas Blue for years and my wife gets the Spartachoke (sp?) - which is no longer on the menu but they'll still make (veggie sammich with artichoke hearts). Both are healthy and clean tasting, and I recommend their multi-grain bread. I will say these are not giant, stacked sammiches. They're not heavy. If you're starving, better get a side and maybe some soup or something. These are healthy sammiches, for the most part. (See a theme here?) Why not 5 stars? They used to have "meal deals," whether they were called that or not. Now they don't. I'm sorry, but if I want to add chips and a drink to a sandwich, you should have a meal deal add-on. Not discounting that just sucks, because pretty much everywhere else does. Sandwich shops have a deal to add on chips and drink and make it a meal - that's standard operating procedure, sandwich shop code of conduct. It makes the customer feel like they're getting a deal, and it's easy to offer since soda fountain drinks cost the restaurant less than 5 cents each. So why did y'all get rid of it, Blue Baker? it's frustrating when a place that started as a favorite becomes one you won't go to any longer. it's been multiple issues across multiple visits. Like a lot of places the customer service has really fallen off. I had a birthday coupon that had NOT expired but wasn't showing up in their system. they kept asking me about it like I created the coupon somehow. I saw my food sitting for 13 minutes. (looked at my watch.) I asked if the order was mine and the girl behind the register said "if it was yours the buzzer would have vibrated.". Went here for lunch. Everything here is definitely BLUE! Even the straws. They made really good use of space, there's tables and chairs everywhere but it still feels spacious. I had the D, Vinchee Pizza 9 inch which was definitely filling for me. It was so yummiliciousness and so fresh as well. My bf had the Club Bleu which was tasty as well, but it's nothing like the pizza. Plus the portion size really sucked for that price. I felt like we got jipped. But I was too busy eating pizza. Lots of people were here chilling with their laptops like it was a coffee house, but they have so much room and tables, that it didn't really bother me. Definitely will come back. read more

First place in CS that I visited the only time I came there (perhaps the last lol) and I have to say it's an interesting concept. It's part college library with the semi-private booths they have for studying and wifi, it's part Starbucks for meeting people out on a patio, and they have a nice selection of cafe style foods like salads and sandwiches and such. I tried some of their bread samples and they were great (I was not at a position to buy bread however) so I just got a smoked salmon salad. The salad was good but it was very heavy on lettuce - the dark green parts which are the most nutritiousness but most people toss out, but very little in terms of meat...still, for the low price, can't ask for more. If I ever go back to College Station, it's probably my go to place for lunch or dinner now. read more

First time I stopped in for lunch and had a hot sandwich, it was good, but would have been nice if cut in half. Next visit I got a smoked salmon everything bagel. Staff is friendly and efficient, but there are not enough tables with outlets. Need to get here early (9AM or so) to snag an outlet. Salads are always fresh here!
