If I could give it zero, I would. Ordered salad through app. I got a text that they would be using Door Dash to deliver the order. Next text said it had been picked up. Next text said my order had been canceled and I should contact the store. I contacted the store and they told me it was my Door Dash problem. I told them I ordered through the app and they chose to use Door Dash and I requested a refund. They spoke in some foreign language to someone in the room and laughed then told me they wouldn't do anything to help me. I did not choose Door Dash, they did. I had no recourse with Door Dash. Except... the cucumbers were extremelyyyyy mushy... it tasted so horrible that I almost docked a star. This is something which literally never happens in my travel - I visited Salata twice during short 5 days - I hope you get my point and I can stop my review now. The restaurant is located inside a big shopping plaza, with plenty of parking. Very interesting model, which can suit a wide range of eaters - from people who eat everything, like myself, to vegetarians, vegans and even Kosher observing people (one of my colleagues was). As the name suggests, this is all about the salad. The salad is assembled for you under your direction, so you actually don't handle anything, unlike a typical salad bar. You start from the bowl size and base for your salad - choosing the greens first (mixed, Romain lettuce, spinach, kale - you control the mix). Then you can add anything from the wide range of variety of cut up veggies and other typical salad condiments (berries fresh and dry, seeds, nuts, cheeses, etc). Next, you can get any dressing you like, and you can stop there, or proceed to add proteins from a wide selection of different styles of chicken, salmon, shrimp, ...), add a few more extras such as cut up avocados, artichokes etc., add croutons, and you are done. You can also get fresh soup (had white beans with kale twice - delicious). Again, everything is fresh, clean, simple, and delicious. As a huge fan of Salata, and having reviewed several, this one ranks at the very bottom. First, when going through the salad line, staff loaded my large salad with literally a teaspoon at a time! For instance, a teaspoon of cheese! I asked for more, and I got an additional 1/2 teaspoon. I'm paying for a large salad with my choice of toppings, not for a bowl of lettuce and a little of this and that! Staff, spoke little English, which I found very surprising and different from any other Salata I had been to. Pieces of lettuce were brown, and I also had a nice inedible chunk included. They charged us 50 cents for an extra 1/2 scoop of dressing to cover said large salad. It would be different had we not eaten at so many wonderful Salatas, and thus, had such high expectations. Basically you can find almost every veggie you want here. They are fresh. And their salad dressings make their salad taste better than those from grocery stores or fast food chains. One complain, they put way much more greens (spinach, spring mix, etc.) than other things. Souper Salad returns to College Station but worse. Still, there is a huge demand for light eating and salads in College Station, and no one is stepping in to fill the void. So Salata has kind of a monopoly and they will do well. Like Souper Salad, salad is the star of the show - and like Souper Salad the ingredients come from commercial vendors and are of mixed quality. Greens are generally fine, Tomatoes are fine. Beans are fine. Beets are fine. (Cans do a good job of taking care of beets.) Hard Boiled Eggs are fine. Broccoli is pre-chopped dried up and awful. Olives are out of a can.(You have a choice of two colors out of a can but still ...) How much does it cost to put a dish of decent olives out - when two hundred people will be sharing the cost of buying something that tastes good? Kale is maybe okay. Same for Celery. Note that Souper Salad bought from the same type of vendors and their broccoli, olives etc were just as bad as those you get here. An improvement over Souper Salad is they have lots of kinds fish they can put on your salad. Sure - fish builds the tab ... but I am always happy to have salmon on my salad. A deterioration relative to Souper Salad is no making your own salad. One of the greatest pleasures in life was to make a gigantic salad on your plate - using your finest construction engineering - and since salad was by the weight, they were happy to charge you for your masterpiece. Here the staff measures precise amounts into your bowl and portion control rules. Still - Souper Salad went out of business and Salata is still here, The business model of Salata may be more rational, although I think consumers got a better deal from Souper Salad. Note that most of the non-salad options at Souper Salad - really good soups, baked potatoes, hot blueberry bread, flatbread pizza .... these things are all gone. You now have salad salad and salad with a few non-salad options. Souper Salad had a beautiful wrap around room in a convenient location. Salata is a squeezed in space at the very far back of a not very attractive strip mall. Still salad is salad and this is respectable enough salad if you stick to the 3/4 of the ingredients that are more or less okay. So probably I will be eating here - just like everybody else. But I am still wishing for my Handsome Prince to come and take me to a world where everything on the salad bar is fresh and good and not just some of it. read more

My husband and I ate here for lunch yesterday. We really enjoyed it. I told him it was like if Chipotle and Panera Bread had a love child haha. I do wish there were more booths, but there was still seating available despite the crowd. I loved that the price is set, no matter what toppings you get. There were multiple dressings to choose from, but I was surprised there was no Greek dressing (my fave). I had the balsamic vinaigrette, and it was delicious. Hubby and I both had a cup of the tomato basil soup and it was incredibly good!!! I'm picky about soup, so I was very happy. Went here for the first time today with my grandmother and my roommate! I was expecting it to be pretty good but it was reallyyyy good! The ingredients were really fresh and tasty and my salad turned out delicious. Also, it was huge so I got my fill and still had enough left over to take home. I also tried the tomato basil soup and it was really good. I will certainly be coming back. The service wasn't the best, the lady couldnt understand me well (was odd bc I know I speak loud and clear especially when ordering food), my order was wrong, and I payed $9 for a basic small sized salad with chicken. I entered very excited about my possible experience and was let down by the lack of explanation of the transitions for ordering. I had 3 or 4 different people take my order as I went down the line and it all got jumbled up at the end of the line so I settled for what they gave me instead of what I actually wanted. It was VERY unorganized feeling and overall kind of felt uninviting. I left really upset with my experience. The restaurant has a large number of ingredients That can be added to the salads, which are available in two sizes. You can also opt for a wrap if you'd like, which is what I did.
