After traveling 35 minutes one way and then waiting 45 minutes past my appointment time to see the doctor for which I had an appointment - I decided it was time for a change. Dr. Deal's practice is about 5 minutes from my home, which makes it ideal for me. More positives include: 1. Once you are a client, you can text with the practice directly. So - there is no need to place a call or be put on hold or find a private place to talk. They have been quick to reply. You get details in writing. You can ask questions. 2. Another plus is the cleanliness of the practice. The waiting area is bright and airy. Furniture for both humans and pets. A small fridge in the waiting room holds water and a nice array of other drinks for clients who might need refreshment. 3. The receptionist has always been welcoming and pleasant. 4. You can receive invoices via e-mail. 5. You can purchase monthly meds, e.g., heartworm meds, via the online pharmacy. 6. You can schedule standing appointments, e.g., my pets have a monthly standing appointment for the clipping of nails and glands expression. 7. For some, having an HEB in the same shopping strip could be a plus. Drop your pet for services while you grocery shop or pick up your pre-ordered groceries. 8. My pets have various ailments mostly due to their respective breed. (One of my dogs takes 9 different meds 6 x daily.) It's a lot. My forte is accounting - not veterinary. Dr. Deal does a great job of explaining the very specific details of my respective pets' ailments. And he is patient with my understanding of same, i.e., he freely encourages questions. I am very grateful to meet Dr Lee. He is very thorough with his explanations, he gives his best recommendations based on current condition of my boy. I realized after I scheduled the appointment that it was a different vet- but it was the best mistake on my behalf! There are numerous vets near us and we've been to several but we make the 30 minute drive to see Dr. Lee. He is patient, compassionate, honest, very knowledgeable, and kind. His staff is also very nice and appointments always start on time. One of our dogs has a movement disorder as of a few months ago and we were very nervous. My dog was a 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier who at this point in her life has had various medical problems, and we had a good idea the end was coming. I saw Dr T about her health on a Monday morning, because she had deteriorated rapidly over the weekend. I wasn't quite ready to put her to sleep, but said I would call her the next day. The next morning the dog was in serious distress and I knew it was time. I called Dr T's office multiple times, and she did not get back to me for hours. I ended up taking my dog to a completely different vet (whom I have never been to) and putting her to sleep. Fast forward 9 days and our 18 year old cat is basically in the same state, barely moving, not being her normal social self, not eating, etc. I called Dr T, and called, and called (throughout the day on a Thursday) And then I had to take her to another vet- same one as I did for my dog. And put her to sleep there. The vet said the cat was dehydrated and in severe crisis. I was called the next morning by someone who works in the office and said that Dr. T had gone out of town. Dr. T did basically the same thing to me twice. Both myself and my pets were in a very emotional and distressed state, and we were unable to rely on the vet we had used for over 15 years. She literally didn't call back before she went out of town. I've been displeased with her for a while, but since my pets were older and we had always gone to her I stuck with her. I will no longer.
