We went to this vet clinic for a few years, mainly because the veterinarians themselves were pretty good and our dog was comfortable and familiar with the environment. That consistency meant a lot to us, and we appreciated the level of care from the vets. However, our overall experience was often frustrating. It frequently felt like there was a strong push to upsell services and products during visits. Bills could easily climb into the $400-$500 range due to added extras that didn't always seem necessary. LONG REVIEW ALERT: Absolutely LOVE this vet!! I submitted an inquiry Saturday evening for an appointment and Monday morning I received an email and follow up call to come in for an appointment that morning. When I got there the front staff were very friendly and made me and my new puppy feel very welcome! The facility was also very clean!! We were almost immediately taken to the back and were seen by the doctor once we filled out the new patient paperwork. The vet was very personable and easy going. She was thorough and patient with my puppy (and me)! I had a million questions, and they were all answered without me feeling rushed or as if I reached my question limit. In addition to answering my questions, I was given lots of great advice. I love that everything is explained before any work is done, and they make sure you have a great understanding of what each item is for and the importance. When they took Coco back, I waited in the lobby area where they had refreshments, coffee, etc. When they completed everything, they asked me to stick around for a few minutes to ensure there were no reactions. While we were waiting the ladies at the front were super sweet and offered Coco a little treat. You can tell that everyone at this clinic truly care and want the best for your puppy! Took our 12 week puppy at the time for a check up and vaccinations. We were charged $480 for 2 vaccines & an ear cleaning (plus ear wash). We also had to come back and pay an additional $76 for giardia medicine and 2 weeks later at a new vet. Our dog still has giardia. So in total we payed $556 for a checkup & 2 vaccines. read more

Went to this clinic to get my puppy's vaccines, they charged me $200 for his first visit and didn't even start him on his vaccines. So I basically paid $200 for nothing just a probiotic they "recommended". I went to his second appointment where they found an ear infection and they finally started his shots, they charged me a total of $400 for only two vaccines and two prescriptions that they sold to me well above retail price for these medications. They also charged me an additional $55 JUST to clean his ears. I went to a new vet clinic where they told me he's very behind on his vaccinations because this vet failed to start him on time even though I brought him in as soon as he was due. Never going back here, save some money and go somewhere else. At least the nail trim was "complimentary". read more

What can I say that hasn't already been said about Dr. Withrow & her staff. Before we even rescued our new furbaby Ruby I started looking for a good vet. Checked out Yelp & first recommendation was Long Meadow Veterinary Clinic. Read most of the reviews & was impressed. Looked at other places close by & it was an easy choice. We picked up Ruby on 7/12 in the evening & today I called for an appointment & Natalie was very personable. Great first impression. After some quick questions, we lucked out & got an immediate appointment scheduled, so off we went. First step into the clinic & yet another great impression. As mentioned before the place doesn't look or smell like any vet clinic I've been too. My daughter was quick to point this out. We were greeted by Natalie & she immediately knew who Ruby was & greeted her to make her feel at ease. Then we met a vet tech, I forgot her name but she was also personable. Again, great first interaction with Ruby. They get her to immediately cooperate, with a treat of course, to sit still on the scale. They were quick with praises for Ruby putting her at ease with them. We were shown into an exam room & again spotless & odorless. We were even offered beverages while we waited. You forget you're in a vet clinic. After some quick paper work we meet Dr. Withrow. Again, as mentioned before, she did her whole exam on the floor with a little help from the vet tech. Considering Ruby was in the shelter for 3 months, you'd figure she'd have some apprehension about vets, but not here. Ruby felt so at ease she even laid down. Dr. Withrow was great about explaining everything & confident that she could treat Ruby's minor skin condition which put me at ease. She answered all my questions & wasn't quick to push products. After they took Ruby in the back for a pedicure, Ruby came back with no anxiety & wasn't rushing to get out which is first for me. My dogs in the past were clawing to get out after being taken away. We recently moved out to Richmond and had to find a new vet for our fur babies. We took all three animals (two cats and a dog) and the staff did everything to make sure we felt taken care of and cared for. Besides the great service we received, the price to get all three animals checked out and put into their system was so much less than what we have been paying in town. Since then, my husband was taking our dog to get groomed, when he had a small seizure (he has epilepsy). The staff took care of him while they called for EMT and made sure he did not hurt himself. I cannot thank them enough for doing everything they did to take care of my husband. Great job everyone! read more

We brought Lacey in for her first dental cleaning and it was affordable, convenient, and I received copies of before/after pictures & the X-rays. She will spend the time to explain all of your options and make sure you as well as your dogs are ok. We had an elderly dog with seizures and she helped walk us through the last year of his life. The staff and the doctor are great. Very informative and helpful. The place is clean and friendly. The only issue we are having is their pricing. It's the most expensive clinic we've been to in term of getting tests and prescriptions for our dog. The tests were from $30 and $35 at an another reputable clinic where we used to live at. At Long Meadow, it was $70 and $75 for the same test. Another example, the prescription is $120 for 3 months from Long Meadow the first time. The old clinic was $15 a month or $45 for 3 months. This time we asked for a refill, they said the prescription is $140 now because the drug itself increased price. We called up CVS and for the same prescription and dosage is $40 for 3 months. They would not price match to CVS so we had CVS requested the prescription paper from them to get it refill. I understand different clinic has different pricing. Nicer one probably charge more, but the old clinic we took our vet to is a also a good one in a nice neighborhood with reputable doctors and staffs. The reason we picked Long Meadow when we first moved here is because this one is closest to our house. However, their pricing is way too high!! read more

This place is honestly a breath of fresh air! I recently decided to switch vets to have a place more convenient to my house and to take my dog to a place that cares. I hit the nail on the head because Dr. Withrow and her staff are awesome! The first time I walked in the staff were very informative and helpful. Dr. Withrow took time to come out and meet with me and you could tell she truly loves her job. The next time I went in I had my dog's teeth cleaned and had all of her regular shots done as well. I felt very comfortable leaving her there because they are so gentle with the animals and they let her have her blanket with her too. Unfortunately I have a sensitive little girl and she didn't feel super great a day after the procedure. I called them first thing in the morning and they were very helpful with what I needed to do. I took her back in and Dr. Withrow came right out to discuss everything with me and just scooped up my dog and loved all over her. I thought that was really sweet. She gave her two shots right away to help her with the nausea, etc. I got some meds and was in and out very quickly. In addition to telling me when and how much of the meds to give her they also e-mailed all the info over to me without me asking. I absolutely LOVE this clinic! Recently moved to the area and needed a new vet for my allergy proned pup. I walked in to a very friendly and energetic staff who offered me snack and drinks in the waiting room. They are very thorough with their questions and make you feel like your pet is important. Dr. Withrow is the most concerning vet that I have taken my dogs to . She sat with my pup and I for 10-15 min and explained his plan of care and all the side effects and benefits of the drugs. She has a very warm heart and you can tell she loves what she does! I would recommend her to anyone! read more

I love this place. We have had nothing but good experiences. They treat Ace will care and understanding as he is a boxer puppy with a lot of energy. I appreciate the thoroughness of the vet and how she explains everything to us. She is by far the friendliest Vet over in this area. There isn't another facility that compares to this one. Everything is brand new. Majority of the time it doesn't smell like a wet dog, free snacks for the kids, juices and coffee as well. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5... it's just expensive as hell. Well it's expensive period to have a pet that you care about, but it just seemed we get charged for EVERY visit even if there wasn't something specifically wrong. Extremely disappointed in the care my poor baby received this morning. My 10 year old cat suddenly became very sick, took her here first since I called and was told they were offering free first exams, just to get an idea of what was going on. After discussing treatment options (and the fact that she would need to be transferred to a 24 hour hospital even if we chose to initiate treatment there), we opted to have nothing done there and instead to go directly to a 24 hour animal hospital. As I was waiting for them to bring our baby back from the other room, another woman stepped in and told us they did already start an IV (WITHOUT CONSENT) and we would need to pay $48 for the IV placement which would stay in on the way to the 24 hour hospital. Not once did I suggest I was not going to pay but I did ask to speak with the manager as I was frustrated since we were planning to finance through carecredit and couldn't have 2 seperate accounts. The manager said she understood and would waive the fee and leave the IV in place since they did not get permission to initiate the IV but it was going to be needed at the 24 hour vet anyway. So okay. But not even a minute later, a different staff member told us they were going to pull the IV. Before even being able to have a discussion about it, another staff member brought our cat in with the IV already removed. So now my baby is miserably sick and had to get poked (without our permission and without us knowing so we could comfort her) for no reason!! I was so upset. I would not have even seen the vet the entire visit except for the fact that at this point I asked to speak with her. She evaluated our cat in a totally different room and had different staff members move my cat back and forth despite us letting them know she was in pain. When I made my frustration over the IV issue known, she tried several times to dismiss my dismay as "it being an emotional time". I let her know that as a nurse I can't ever fathom placing and IV after it was refused by the patient/guardian and THEN pulling the IV after it was decided to leave it since she would need it anyway. Id never out a patient through unnessesary additional pain. The vet tried to reason her decision to place the IV after we refused and her decision to pull it by saying our baby wasnt looking too good (which is why we chose to go to the 24 hour vet hospital for her care instead) but when I mentioned our right to refuse treatment, the vet seemed to not have much else to say. Honestly feel as though money is their only priority here. So glad we decided to leave as I would not trust them to have my pets best interest at heart (as they have shown) but rather how they can run a bill up. And not that it matters that Im a nurse, but honestly mortified that these people and their actions portray the face of any healthcare. We went to VEG Katy and my baby was immediately loved, taken care of, and the entire staff there obviously love what they do! Suggest going to VEG Katy first despite the fact that Long Meadow Vet Clinic will tell you they are more expensive, they werent for us. She knows dogs and is very knowledgeable when it comes to what is best. She didn't try to push me towards unnecessary tests and was honest about which is the best treatment route. We recently noticed our senior St Bernard limping on his back leg. I called and was able to get in to see Dr. Withrow quickly. They told me procedures were covered got them done for my children and then turns out they weren't and all of a sudden I owe more than I already paid out of pocket. I attempted to schedule an appointment for my dog. I called three times and finally left a message on the third try, figuring they must not have anyone on staff to answer the phones and voicemail was the only way to get through. I still haven't received a call back two days later. Update: I received a call back on the 25th, a full week after leaving a message, and five days after the office reopened from an extended weekend. Also, it should be noted that I had to listen to two separate messages in order to leave a voicemail. Perhaps one or both of those recordings could be changed to inform callers that the office is closed for an extended period of time. read more

This clinic give my pug so much care and love. Im new to this area. So i found this clinic on Yelp. Let me tell a story of my pug. Her name is Lola. She is 7 years old pug but unfortunately she has been diagnosed diabetes for 3 years now. She had been through 2 blood transfusion surgeries and recently she had cataract removed surgery about 3 months ago. She also has a brain disease which call GME. 2 and a half years ago specialist Dr told me that she could only live up to 6 months. My heart was broken. I was depressed and she was in a bad condition. But she is a fighter and proved that Dr was wrong. Now she is playful and happy puppy. Dr. Withrow and her staff are amazing to look after Lola. They are kind and care. I have seen over 10 different Doctors and been in so many different clinics because i want to save Lola and i want the best doctor for her. Dr. Withrow monitor Lola and help me to manage Lola gluccose since she has to take steroid and eye drops which is hard to maintain the glucose level in her body. Lola glucose used to be too high or too low. Never hit the ideal number. But Dr.Withrow did an amazing job. Lola's sugar level now is under control and has been hit the ideal number. I am thrilled and happy. I haven't seen Lola in this such a good condition in years. Thank you Dr.Withrow so much. If you love your pet like me and treat them just like one of your family member. Take your pet to Dr. Withrow, she is one of my best doctor i have ever seen. Your pet will be in good hand. read more

When I moved to the area I started one of my dogs at another clinic. I really didn't have a great experience with them but Longmeadowvetclinc wasn't open at the time. I was driving past one day and decided to stop in. So glad I did! I have two dogs that have some medical issues and Dr. Withrow is amazing with them. They used to have anxiety when going to the vet as well but she made them feel so comfortable they wanted to stay and hang out in her office. She takes her time with each patient but is also truly concerned with developing relationships with the owner as well. The office is staffed with a caring group as well.
