I thought the prices were reasonable and the coffee was good. Blue Bottle is for a coffee enthusiast and I'm not the biggest coffee drinker but I still enjoyed it. Very mediocre. I'm a big coffee drinker and I did like their coffee but $5 for a coffee at a place with no WiFi nor electrical outlets is kind of outrageous. Got here with my laptop ready to get some work done with my $5 coffee and felt a big slap on the face when I was told that none of their locations have WiFi. The entire design and vibe suggests that it's a place that is suitable for reading/studying/working. I think that it's a mistake on their behalf that they don't offer that kind of environment. Cool location off of M Street in Georgetown, by the canal, and I like the minimalist interior and blue color scheme. That being said, I'm not sure what the hype is about the New Orleans iced coffee. Maybe it was just the batch I had, but I couldn't taste any sweetness or chicory flavor - it was just like a normal iced coffee with a little milk to top it off. First walking into the coffee shop, I was highly intrigued by the unique and exquisite atmosphere. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place considering we heard it recently opened in the Georgetown area. While ordering, we were informed that the cold brew iced coffee only came in one size. The size it came in was roughly 6 ounces and was double the price of a tall iced coffee at Starbucks (~$4.40). For the size of the coffee, I personally believed it was extremely over priced. After receiving my order, I was very excited to try the iced coffee, however I was disappointed with the taste. The coffee tasted somewhat sour and did not have an enjoyable after taste. The attention to detail is crazy for such a small coffee shop. I actually stumble upon this place because I couldn't find the nearest dolcezza. The place is so beautiful, Great Sunday morning atmosphere, seating by the window great customer service, with some sort of a nice view. They really care about what they give to their customers. This was my to go place when I lived in the Bay Area and was in the city. I was super excited they were opening a shop here in Georgetown last year. I visited the shop the first week they opened. Coffee obviously was good but the service was soooo slow, and they totally forgot my order! I figured well they are brand new and they will improve. Well it's been like over 6 months now and still the service is slow. It's Saturday morning, the place is crowded but not unmanageable and at this point they should have gotten a hang of what they are doing. If you love coffee try their espresso or one of their amazing pourovers. When I get iced, I like the espresso over the cold brew (but that's my general preference). This place is like the Apple store of coffee! They have an amazingly clean and fresh ambiance in the shop and getting coffee here is an experience. The coffee at Blue Bottle is for those who see coffee as more than just a means to get caffeine in their system. When you get coffee here you can tell much thought has been put into where they source their beans how they roast them and how they brew the coffee. The final product is a super clean cup of coffee. I would go here all the time if I lived in the area. It can be more expensive than Starbucks but its a nice treat. read more

Second time they, got my name wrong, overcharged me an extra drink, and failed to offer a refund when they realized the mistake. Needs better management. I'm a longtime fan of Blue Bottle in San Francisco, so was generally thrilled to learn they were opening an outlet in DC. Good as the coffee remains here, the service in Georgetown is painfully, almost unfathomably slow. We're talking a 15 minute wait at least for a latte, and that's with no line. If there is a long queue, forgot it -- just go elsewhere. They have at least five people milling about behind the bar at any time, but for some reason haven't figured how to translate that labor cost into more rapid service. Very frustrating. read more

I had read about this company but had never had the experience. I was actually in the market to buy some beans for my home espresso machine. Decided to sample some of their espresso before purchasing the beans. The barista on duty actually took time to get the shots dialed in properly before serving us. Highly appreciated. The hand pour is a perfect cup of coffee. If you get it for-here it comes in a nice glass cup. The aroma and flavor are delicious. It's full of caffeine. It's $5.50 but it's just everything that a cup of coffee should be. I never think twice about paying for it because I just enjoy it so much. The physical place is pretty good, too. There's a nice patio area to sit outside. Inside there's a huge glass window so you can sit down and just take in the sky. read more

Blue Bottle Coffee is a really nice coffee shop. In sum, if you can afford a $4 cup of coffee, Blue is for you. If you just want your caffeine fix, there are other places. There is usually a line; the pastries are tasty, but cost a lot. The coffee is generally good, as long as you stick to the basics. The baristas were flown to California to train at Blue HQ before this store opened up; they were taught that _these_ beans are best brewed in _this_ way. They can, of course, honor custom requests, but you might sometimes have to be more forceful. The pour-over is grand. Cappuccino is great, but don't try a single shot cap. Their machine doesn't split the shots. Sometimes they'll offer to do a half-caff (half regular, half decaff beans), but that definitely affects the flavors. When they are not especially busy, the baristas are friendly and can actually use their acquired knowledge. I've spent some time talking to this shops owner about brew time and the different methods of brewing and other coffee funsies. But really, when are they NOT busy? The space is plain; less comfortable chairs and no power or wifi mean this is not a hang-out zone. This was by design; if you grab a small group of people for a conversation over coffee, then this space is great. They DO have a bathroom, but is a life saver for small-bladdered folks like me. I like it. But I don't crave going every day. read more

Sunday morning. Rain. Last day of filming a project in Georgetown. Need caffeination ASAP. I meandered along the C&O canal from the Georgetown House Boutique Inn (highly recommend) at 7:15 am. Climbed some steps and voila-caffeine paradise! I've loved Blue Bottle for many years ever since I discovered them in an old converted garage in a side alley In Hayes Valley, San Francisco. Now-they're here! The cafe was a beacon of light on a grey misty morning. The baristas were MOST awesome! Joyous, not resentful of being there at opening on a Sunday morning. We were their first customer of the day-it was Mother's Day and they gave me my well crafted latte for free-and added a coupon for a future free latte! Thank you! The coffee was mellow, not bitter or acidic. Lovely layer of foam on the top. Ventured out and tried their avocado toast for the first time. Omo! The avo was chunky yet creamy. Olive oil and lemon juice added and just the right amount of salt and red pepper flakes! Excellent. Oh-the playlist--wonderful old school R&B--yas! Blue Bottle Georgetown-y'all Rock big time!
