Came across this takeout place while stuck in traffic, and decided to stop in. I found their pricing more expensive than my favorite NJ blue crab eatery, and it's not an eat in restaurant. I love blue crabs, but they are a lot of work, so I always order them steamed and cleaned, which helps. They had various pricing for dirty and clean blues, and I opted for their house made oregano, garlic, old bay option. It does have a ton of garlic, which seemed to overwhelm the little crabs, but the flavor was pretty good, and I was still able to get that slightly sweet blue crab flavor that I craved. Although, I did have to wipe a lot of the garlic off, and in doing so noticed that some of the crabs weren't cleaned very well. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way, but would return if I were in the area. read more

There is no seat I side and only to-go option. We had a coleslaw and lobster rolls. The lobster roll was priced at $16 so very reasonable to typical $18-22 range market price. You also can choose it hot or cold. The size however is not typical size. It is a smaller than typicalmarket size. So overall, its a fair eat. The lobster was seasoned cajun style. The bun was toasted and warm. I'd rather eat bigger and non cajun seasoning style roll. Its a personal preference. The colesliw was ok. Its a little watery. read more

Mmm mmm good! I don't come here often, but when I do I get the best (and freshest) seafood! Not many places (especially restaurants) that serve Manhattan clam chowder! You can buy it frozen or hot ready to eat. And their mac'n'cheese balls and crab stuffed mushrooms are to die for! And the nice woman at counter is very friendly. The food is good I'm leaving a bad review because of customer service. I went there today, got there at 7:25, went to place an order and I was told the kitchen is closed. Your website says you close at 8:00, not 7:25. They said they tell people verbally the kitchen closes at 7:30. So what about people that haven't heard it verbally before? I made a recommendation for them to at that to the website. If new customers come after 7:25, they will be highly disappointed. This is very bad for business. read more

I swore to myself that I would stop in and check this place out after a friend served their seafood several months back! When I arrived I noticed their parking lot was packed and patrons were still coming in as I was leaving. The staff was extremely helpful, the guy who waited on me explained all of their offerings, prepared some of my order for warming up later and rang me up. Great A to Z work by him and I was very thankful for his advice and suggestions. I ended up buying Fried Flounder, pick n peel shrimp, breaded shrimp, several side salads (potato salad, pasta salad), crab mac and cheese balls, stuffed potato's (Served with shrimp, cheese and crabmeat). The presentation was very nice and clean and everything was delicious! I would definitely repeat buy all of those items. They put in a couple jars of their homemade cocktail sauce. I fed four adults and two kids for around $85 bucks and there were leftovers for at least another meal. I did not try their hard shell crabs, but noticed most customers were ordering them. "I don't eat 'em, too much work for little reward, but my wife loves 'em", is what an old timer told me as we were both waiting for our orders. They also had clams, mussels, lobsters, soups and king crab legs just to name a few. I was in and out in 10-15 mins and would definitely repeat. Kicking myself for not trying this place sooner. Outstanding! Service was exceptional, quality of the food exceeded my expectations. We plowed through 200 steamed clams (delicious with the garlic butter) and two 10 pound bags of crab legs, along with assorted other goodies. There were 8 of us and most of it went. I have enough crab to make some crab cakes. The legs were meaty and sweet! This will now be our "go to" for crab. Thank you American Crab Co. for making a family reunion memorable! read more

This crab place can be hard to spot if you're not already familiar with the location. Nevertheless worth the visit! The seafood is always fresh and has phenomenal flavor. The garlic crabs, in my opinion, can be cleaned better before adding the garlic butter sauce. Be sure to make specific requests for exactly how you'd like your order. A hidden gem for delicious seafood. We usually get the cooked food platters, especially on Fridays during Lent and they never disappoint. Fish is fresh. They get you in and out quickly and the place is always packed. We even bought their crab legs for Christmas Eve last year. They were a huge hit! read more

I have been going to American Crab for about 5 years now. I drive down from Jersey. I am unsure if it is just my experience but every time I go there, the customer service isn't all that pleasant. They always seem kinda standoffish. I don't know if it's because of a race barrier or what. I want to know if other African Americans have this same experience. Don't get me wrong the blue crabs and Cape May crab cakes are great and the prices are cost-efficient compared to the options in Jersey. However, every time I go here I spend about $500 and I take a 2-hour drive so I feel like my experience and the customer service should be pleasant and appreciated. I don't think that customer service should have anything to do with the amount of money you spend but should reflect the professionalism and gratitude of the company towards its customers. Another thing is that they do not have a public restroom but if I express that I just drove 2 hours to come there, I should at least be able to use the restroom. read more

We stopped here after a recommendation from a coworker and reading other Yelp reviews. They were all positive. The place is a small shop on Route 1, just outside of Philly. Something we've passed hundreds of times. Nothing out of the ordinary to draw your attention. Once we went inside (free parking on a shared lot), my husband was like a kid in a candy shop. He just went from one case to another, trying to decide what to get. He ended up with 2 huge crab cakes, crab mac and cheese and 6 large ($8/ea) crabs and garlic shrimp. We got home and he went right to the crab cakes and mac and cheese. He said both were delicious. He's usually not a fan of store made mac and cheese but this was a winner. He surprised me by finishing it all in one sitting. He took a break then went for the crabs. They were pretty big and kept hearing him huffing and puffing. Lol. It took him the rest of the night to finish them. Last night, he ate the garlic shrimp and said they were very good as well. I think we have found his go to spot for seafood. No more runs to Baltimore or DC, at least for crabs. read more

We arrived to pick up our order and there was a couple in front of us that was sweet enough to let me and my bad back to in first given that I'd ordered ahead of time. American Crab is my go to for the best seafood. No matter what you get you wont be disappointed. The prices are fair and the food is always cooked perfectly. The crab legs travel well after being steamed in house. I live 30 minutes away and they are easy to crack still hot with plenty of seasoning. If you want fresh crawfish in season you have to go here. read more

American Crab Co. is strictly takeout. You can get both cooked and raw. We got stuffed flounder. Purchased 3 of them, I never thought they would be enough. Couple them with their AWESOME cream of crab soup and they were more than enough. Everything was great. I live literally 2 miles away, why didn't I try this place sooner. It's a hidden gem. Their prices aren't too bad, given that everything is expensive now, I'd say they were very reasonably priced. We will be buying from here again. read more

Came here today when every sit-in restaurant in town was packed to capacity for Mother's Day with hour plus-long waits. I'm glad that I opted to come here instead. Although there was no seating, it was well worth taking home and enjoying. I got a wide spread of items, totaling about $80. Yes, pricey, but it's seafood that (I think) is fresh! Among the items I got were the seafood-stuffed baked potatoes, three different types of crab cakes, a lobster roll, crab grilled cheese, crab macaroni and cheese balls, a crab pie, and stuffed mushrooms. I also ordered a 1/2 pound of crab macaroni and cheese, but the worker forgot to put it in my bag. (We called back when we got home and they stated they'd issue a refund for that item.) Most of the food was quite amazing! I would say my favorite items were the crab cake without the breading (I forgot the name of it) and the lobster roll. My friend really loved the crab pie. Dipped in some melted butter which we also bought there, it made for a fantastic Sunday brunch meal. My least favorite items were the crab macaroni and cheese balls and the stuffed mushrooms. The macaroni and cheese balls didn't have any crab that I could see, which you might be able to tell, too, from my picture. They tasted like your average macaroni and cheese balls. The stuffed mushrooms just tasted like bell pepper and nothing else. Besides these two non-favorites, though, pretty much everything else was a hit. I was on a search for some King Crabs and came across this place. When we went in everything was clean and everyone was wearing a mask. The woman who helped us with our order was very friendly. We got 2 huge king crab legs, crab cakes, crab mac n cheese balls and some stuffed clams. They cooked everything for us and bagged it up nicely. The prices were good and the food was delicious!
