    Signature Cocktail Menu
    Jon H.

We've been hearing some great things about Marblehead Chowder House recently so we were excited to give it a shot. My wife made reservations for 6:45 on a Saturday night and luckily she did as the restaurant was very busy. The bar also seemed very lively. I really like what they did with the old Charlie Browns as far as renovations and redecorating. Lots of blues and whites fill the dining area (separate from the bar -- bar area seemed a bit darker with dimmer lighting) with nautical decor making it feel like you're dining down the shore. Four of us were seated at table in the middle of the floor. I would have preferred a booth but it is what it is, though the table was very small. Barely enough room for appetizers and drinks for the 4 of us. The martini & signature cocktail lists were very appealing with a great mix of staple drinks and unique options, and the prices were great. Many of the drinks between $10-$12 each. We started with a Spicy Pickle Martini (my choice - different but if you like pickles and a little heat I think you'd enjoy this), a Bourbon Peach Smash (which my wife loved and it wasn't overly sweet), a Belvedere Martini, and a Tito's and club. We appreciated being able to get a nice cocktail at a reasonable price. I also thought the menu was extensive but not overwhelming. There were options for everyone at all different price points. Like the cocktail prices, I also thought many of the food options were reasonably priced. Usually my wife and I are very aligned on our taste for food, but tonight was a little different. We split the Ultimate Appetizer Sampler which consisted of Lobster & Cheese Pierogi, Calamari, Clams Casino, and Lobster Risotto Balls. I thought the appetizers were average. If I had to pick my favorite I would have said the Lobster Risotto Balls but nothing really stuck to me that I'd want to order again. My wife on the other hand really enjoyed all of the appetizers on the sampler plate. My wife and her dad also ordered a half dozen oysters and really enjoyed them. Entree wise, I went with the Blackened Swordfish special. I thought that it was okay for the price but was slightly dry. My FIL ordered the crab cakes, a dish he really loves, and was underwhelmed. He said they were decent but couldn't compare to some of his favorites. On the other hand, my wife and MIL ordered the Shrimp with Crab Fried Rice and they LOVED it lol -- go figure. Maybe us guys are a little hard to please compared to the girls. All in all I think the prices at Marblehead match the setting and quality. Our party had mixed reviews of the food from, great to average. The service was also a little spotty. Our server was incredibly nice but it took a long time to see our server after being seated and again after being initially greeted to put in food and drink orders. I also ordered a Manhattan half way through dinner and it came out with the check. Our server apologized and advised that it would be complimentary as the wait took so long -- very nice of her and may not have been her fault. Maybe the bar was slammed. If it were up to me I wouldn't rush back for dinner (although my wife said she'd like to eat dinner here again -- so we'll eventually be back for sure) but I would love to either come back for happy hour or even spend a night at the bar for a couple cocktails.

My team leader chose Marblehead Chowder House for our group dinner. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. The restaurant has a nautical theme but not cheesy. Service was excellent, our server was Ava and she was warm, friendly and professional. For my meal I had the crab stuffed shrimp, it came with a baked potato and steamed veggies. It was prepared perfectly. The group had fried calamari and broiled lobster tails for the appetizer and the soup I had was lobster bisque. Everything was great.

City girls had the pleasure of dining here recently on our trip to Central New Jersey. We had low expectations, but we're super excited to try some of the seafood entrées. People were singing praises about online. When you first enter the establishment, you are greeted with a classy entrance. The vibe here is very old-school but in a good way. Right off the bat we ordered the whole lobster and the crabcakes. The lobster was succulent and absolutely delicious and served with some of the best draw butter I have ever tasted in my life. I don't know what they put in that draw butter, but it literally tastes like crack, so delicious and nutty and perfect amount of savory. The crabcakes were made perfectly, chock full of lump crab meat. I love that they did not skim on that or add too much breading. I do wish that these were served with the traditional remoulade sauce but they were still phenomenal. The bread that was served to us tableside was also delicious, very airy with a crisp exterior and soft, pillowy center. We were hungry, so we also ordered the cod and this was absolutely phenomenal. A clean, beautifully cooked fillet with just the right amount of seasoning on the outside. Mashed potatoes and coleslaw as our side was absolutely on point. We also ordered sides of both white and berry sangria that did not disappoint! Our server was so sweet and very accommodating. Shout out to Jolanda give my girl a raise now!! This was a truly great dining experience. If you are passing by here, definitely stop by and give this place a try.

It's been awhile since we've been here but glad to see how crowded it was on a weeknight. Tuesday is buck a shuck night. Who knew? They need to get the word out. They have a decent happy hour during the week. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't bar only. Definitely a plus! We had a lovely young lady for our server. I apologize for not remembering her name. She was new and nervous and asked a lot of questions but kept her pleasant attitude and composure. The food was absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly. Decent portion sizes. I've gone to other establishments and paid more money for less quality and quantity. When we arrived I took pics of all the specials boards at the entrance but the hostess kind of chuckled and said you don't need to do that. She was right...they bring the chalkboard to your table on a chair. And they are displayed throughout the dining area. It is overwhelming with all the specials and menus. I like having options but it takes time to go through it all if you are t a regular customer. The oysters were on the small side but fresh. We asked for the blue points. Love buck a shuck! During happy hour they have 2 for $10 appetizers if you order an entree. It's a great deal. And I don't think they adjust the size because it seemed like a lot of food for $5 each. The steamed clams were cooked perfectly and I loved the lobster risotto balls. Crunchy on the outside. I wasn't get a lot of rice like a typical arancini so risotto ball may not be the best name. Either way I want to go back for those. The dipping sauce was so flavorful. I could eat it by the spoonful. I ordered the clam bake special. Crab legs, clams, shrimp, potatoes and corn. Cooked perfectly and a lot of food for the price.

    Ambiance is a five!

Excellent service from Kylie! Food was good but not great. Nice quiet ambiance at 5pm on a Thursday night.

We came here for an early dinner on a Sunday. We loved the location and atmosphere. There was plenty of parking and the restaurant was clean with a tasteful shore like decor. We loved the newspaper like menu and there were a ton of diverse options to choose from. Prices seemed fair especially after seeing the portions. The calamari was one of the most tenderest we've had. The firecracker shrimp had great flavor but the light breading was a bit soggy from the sauce. Definitely not a deal breaker though. The New England white clam/fish chowder was thick and flavorful and our Caesar salads were generous with the right amount of dressing. For dinner, our family had the garlic sautéed shrimp, pasta di mare (sub white garlic sauce), grandmas meatloaf, and lump crab and tenderloin tips. Our server was patient and answered all our many questions. She assured us that they'd accommodate any substitutions and they sure did! Thank you for a wonderful time. We'll be back!

I am a return customer and this is our second time coming to this business. We opted not to go on Mother's Day as we knew it would be crowded; so we went Monday and it was crowded. Our hostess was very nice, our server who it was first day was was excellent. The food on the other hand was ridiculously overpriced for what you got. This time it was not good. I got the crab legs which I thought was it a reasonable price at 2499 for a pound. They were cold, they were hard to crack and half of the crab legs had no meat in them. The lobster bisque was cold and had a mealie taste with no flavor or lobster for that matter. The firecracker shrimp gave you four large non fried shrimp for 11.95! That was ridiculous in price for four shrimp. I did not say anything as it was our server's first day and she was great not to mention it was my Mother's Day dinner and I didn't want to ruin it for who was taking me out to it. I don't think we will return. no longer worth it!

Went for my sister in law's birthday. We enjoyed calamari as an appetizer it was crispy and tender. My husband enjoyed prime rib, I had lobster, my niece had crab cakes and my sister in law had tuna with sesame seeds and crab fried rice. We were too full for dessert but had the salt water taffy they gave us at the end. Very nice atmosphere and good service . Would definitely recommend

Not sure where to begin. We were looking for a new option in the area and decided to stop by Marblehead. We made a reservation for 3:00 pm, but it wasn't necessary bc the place wasn't crowded on an early Saturday afternoon. We were seated promptly after checking in. The menu at Marblehead is extensive, but not overwhelming if you know what you are interested in. We waited about 10 mins for our waitress. Paula arrived and asked if we wanted to place our order. We were definitely ready. We asked for fried claim strips as an appetizer. I went with the garlic shrimp with a side of orange rice pilaf and the chopped salad for my entree. My partner asked for lobster bisque, side salad and 1lb of snow crab legs with mashed potatoes. For beverages, he opted for a Guinness and I tried a mixed drink (the name escapes me). We waited another 15 minutes and my partner got his Guinness. I didn't get my drink until Paula showed up with our salads, which was close to 30 minutes after being seated and we had to remind her that I never got my drink. Paula never brought the lobster bisque or claim strips. Thank God we got salads or we would have sat for close to an hour with no food. My chopped salad was nicely done. I loved the cranberries, small bits of apples and the tiny hint of mayonnaise. The ingredients were mixed really well. Now, we sat for another 20 minutes and Paula finally appeared with our entrees, but no mashed potatoes. She stated that her handwriting wasn't legible, so she forgot the side my partner ordered. He informed her and she returned with a side of mashed potatoes. Side Note: The tables around us had other waiters who seemed to be more attentive to customers. As a matter of fact, one couple arrived 30 mins after we were seated and they received their appetizers 15 mins later. Another table to the right of us had 5 people and their waiter checked on them multiple times and provided good service. So, we just figured our waitress was just off her game. Entree review: My garlic shrimp was nicely done. The shrimp were succulent and nicely cooked. The garlic sauce wasn't overbearing very tasty. My rice was just okay. My partner's crab legs looked decent. He said they were okay. His mashed potatoes were absolutely terrible. They had no flavor, taste, butter, nothing. I peeked at a table nearby and noticed another guy who ordered ribs hadn't touched his mashed potatoes either. Seems like they should be 86'd from the menu. We asked Paula for the check when she served us our entrees. I'm glad we did. She came back and said she was sorry we were in a rush. We advised that we weren't in a rush at all, but had been at the restaurant for close to 2 hours and we were ready to close out our dining experience. She offered a complimentary dessert, we declined. We were not interested in waiting another 20/30 mins for a free dessert. We paid the check and still tipped Paula over 20% in hopes that she might have just had a bad day. We all have them from time to time. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, the couple at the table nearby that arrived 30 mins after us actually left before us. They were able to wrap up their dining experience even though they arrived 30 mins before us. I can't say we will return to Marblehouse in the future. The food was okay, but the service wasn't.

I am not sure if Management has changed but whatever it was / is needs to be addressed immediately for the sake of not losing customers. Asking to be seated at a different table other than the one we were initially seated at (bc it was right by the door and the wind coming in was freezing) was the first red flag because the hostess seemed bewildered and bothered that we wanted a new table despite there being 50-11 other open tables throughout the joint. It literally then took 15 minutes before our server greeted us and it just kept rolling downhill at a faster and faster rate by the minute. Appetizers done before our cocktails arrived, cocktails done before we could order our entrees, entrees arrived missing key components and it took a good 10 minutes before we could get our server and the minute she walks over she says oh you need the ABC ... ma'am! If you KNEW what we needed why didn't you immediately address it without us having to flag you down???!!!??? And the reason it took 10 minutes to flag her down was because the rest of the floor staff was running around like chickens with their heads cut off ignoring diners trying to get their attention. Oh and the best part was that there was this "figure of management" present ... and I say "figure of management" because he was also ignoring diners and not checking in with them like a restaurant manager typically does ... he was only going to the empty tables cleaning them, slowly adding place settings, rearranging the empty tables ... trying to look busy!!!!! It was honestly comical at one point. We asked for boxes for our food because we still never received all of what was missing despite our server acknowledging it was missing and stating she would bring it back. We literally never ever received it smh . My BF told her this was the worst service we've ever had and it probably didn't even phase her because her attitude overall was just sucky from the beginning. If this is all because of new management they need to go on and get new new management before this place's reputation is ruined.

Drift caught our eye and WOW I'm glad it did. With Brunch offerings every Sunday along with live music and endless pastas on Wednesday nights. Drift is raising the bar and is an entire vibe on Mill St. A handful of tables by the bar and a separate dining room or outdoor seating - all unique in their own way and each offer a different feel in the restaurant. Our server was a delight. So excited to tell us all about the place and answer questions along the way. She kept our glasses full all the while tending bar and other tables. The vodka chicken sandwich was well done, tasty and crisp dredged in a thick vodka sauce and adorned with cheese. It did come with tomato but it was a little odd like it just didn't belong. I just added it to my generous side salad (an option instead of fries). This salad was packed full of fresh greens, cukes & tomatoes with a most delightful dressing. His French dip was full of flavor with tender med rare beef delicately sliced thin and high. The au jus that accompanied it was a nice compliment to the sandwich. We sat in a comfy booth with a view of the bar TVs and close enough to enjoy the live musician. A perfect place to grab a quick lunch and we will definitely be back!

But the service that is amazing and all the smiling staff here make up for anything that I don't see on the menu. The place is really well put together and is a very handsome bar it's mostly very wooden and heavy duty. The ambience is something for everyone on the TV or you can just chitchat. They even have this little side room that is nice but beware and bring a coat or a sweater cause it does get chilly in there. They're always seems like a really great group of people there and our favorite waitress is KB/Kristen. She is truly amazing and very attentive, but not annoying. We love their chicken fajitas and steak fajitas, the Cheesesteaks are delish! But My Newest Favorite for the Moment..... is the "We Jammin Burger". It has bacon onion Jam on it and it is amazing! I didn't think that I would like it as Much as I do! But I Realllllllly Do! I'm not really a burger fan... like my husband Is, But THIS BURGER..... has been a Game changer for Me. Warning: Make room in your fridge... because You will definitely bring leftovers home. This meal can feed a family of 4 Easily!! Their Cajun quesadilla is delicious and it does have a nice little zing. Their traditional wings are amazing and their beef stew is delicious and very hearty. We have tried many of their specialties. The Hail Mary is a delicious Caesar salad on top of chicken cutlets and their Broccoli Chicken Cheesesteak is amazing. I recommend you get it pressed on the grill and that way it won't fall out as you bite each delicious bite. I would say 80 to 90% of the visits that we have had at this amazing establishment. We always bring home leftovers. So be aware that you were going to have lunch for tomorrow. You will get to the point where you will just think of something to eat that they have on their menu and your mouth will just start to drool. We definitely recommend going. I'm not a huge drinker so I really can't say much as for their drinks but everyone there seems very happy and the portions are huge. I definitely say try it, what's the worst that happens you have leftovers for the next day or two lol It is my husband and my favorite new place that's been around forever Hey, maybe we'll see you there

Pros: Our waitress, Alicia, was an absolute sweetheart and made several great food recommendations,…read moreincluding the hot honey wings, Jammin' burger, and chocolate cake--all of which were very good. The portion sizes were generous; both my burger and the Cheesesteak Deluxe were large enough that we brought leftovers home from both entrées. Cons: Unfortunately, the drinks were not good. I ordered a Downeast Cider on tap and it tasted like the line may not have been cleaned recently. My companion ordered a cosmopolitan that was essentially undrinkable--extremely strong and not well balanced. We later learned the bartender is new, so hopefully that improves with experience. The wings were also served cold, and the Jammin' burger came out without the bacon jam that's supposed to be a key part of the dish. The restaurant itself is also very tight quarters. If you prefer more personal space or feel more comfortable in places where it's easy to move around or exit quickly, this may not be the best spot for you. Overall: The staff was very attentive and clearly tried to make things right after several mistakes occurred. They comped our soda, appetizer, and dessert, which we appreciated. However, given the number of issues during one visit, I'm not sure we'd return.

It could definitely have been split so he lied.second of all it was a little gritty and not as clean as I would like, the bathrooms were disgusting. The corn on my platter was old and inedible. The clams were rubbery and tough. You do go to the counter to get your food yourself, but I figured they would clear the table for us, especially since I tipped them $10 but as I was walking out the door, the counter guy yelled at me." hey you need to throw away your trash!" it was very embarrassing, and I had neatly piled my plates and trash so that it was an easy cleanup and I figured they would have to wipe the table anyway, but now knowing how nasty it is in there, they probably don't wipe the tables. I do not recommend nor will I ever go here again. To top it all off I spent more time in the bathroom afterwards than I would like.

Flounder, scallops, shrimp, clam strips, krab sticks, onion rings. This is what's left after two of us got completely full! I can't believe I didn't get the crab cake picture. It was full of crab. No filler!! Something was off with the coleslaw. It came with two little containers of coleslaw. Mine was really good. Maybe a little sweet for my taste but breaks up the fried food. My husband kept asking me if mine was sour and tasted spoiled. And I kept telling him no it's great. No problem. After he ate some of his he asked me if I wanted the rest. Omg his was horrible. I felt so bad because mine was really good and I thought he was being picky. I had to spit it out. It was definitely a different batch.
